Hal was professional, courteous and knowledgable. Putting aside the fact that I was not charged, I would definitely use Caliber Collision again and recommend them to other unfortunate drivers.
They washed and cleaned up the car inside and out, and it looked good when they were done. No orange peel; great color match and no blemishes or boo-boos. They didn't quite meet their promised schedule, but it wasn't terribly late. I found their operation to be very professionally run, the advisor very customer-focused and intent on my total satisfaction, and overall I was very pleased with the service.
They applied their best salesmanship efforts to get me to sign up for them to repair the car. But since I had never been in an accident or filed an insurance claim before (over 40 years), I insisted on contacting my insurance company first for proper procedures. Although I know they were disappointed, I didn't yield to their best efforts and I was grateful for their complimentary assist to make my car drivable again.
The insurance company wanted me to repair it at their "preferred" shop, which was some 15 miles from where I lived. I overrode that recommendation and set it up to have it repaired at nearby Coastal Collision Works, which was about a mile from where I lived. I felt that Coastal Collision Works deserved the repair job for their complimentary assist in my time of need. I brought my car in to their site, gave them my insurance company's claim number and they took over orchestrating the rest of the logistics. I didn't have to worry about a thing. They explained to me that the insurance company would not authorize factory parts on some of the main items items. That really frosted my man parts. But Coastal explained to me that if the "after market parts" (i.e. cheapo crapo 3rd party parts from China) didn't fit right, they would contact the insurance company, explain the problem, and insurance would (most likely) authorize original factory parts.
After the cheapo parts arrived, Coastal Collision Works tested the parts, then contacted the insurance company and got them to authorize factory replacement parts.I didn't have to do a thing and Coastal kept me in the information loop the whole while. Whatta Team!
My car was ready when I was told it would be.
Additionally, when I had brought my car in for the repairs, they called the car rental company for me, arranged everything, and provided them with all of needed the information. So there was really nothing for me to do except drop my car off, drive off in a rental car, later return the rental then pick up my car. Total service right from day #1 thru end of deal.
I just had to pay Coastal Collision my insurance deductible amount ($1,000). I even found a 5% off coupon for Coastal Collision on Angie's list, which they let me apply to my deductible payment to them ($50).
BONUS ROUND: When I picked up my car, they had washed and cleaned it inside and out. My car hadn't been washed/cleaned in over 3 months and it now looked just GREAT! They even got out some stubborn scuff marks on the body paint. They didn't ask me if I wanted it, they just surprised me. Thank you, guys!
