We have a plan where we are covered for the year. Every time you call you get a woman or a man that calls and they don't know how the contract works and every time you call they give you a different reason why you have a minimum payment. One time they tell you, "They purchase a the oil when you sign up for the contract that's why it's more expensive." and then if I call and I add another house on my list and the oil was 50 cents cheaper per gallon. There is no line rhythm to that plan they have.

They don't follow instructions. I asked them to call me in advance to going to my dads house where the service is rendered. My dad is elderly and I only live right down the street. So they show up anyway without calling me in advance.

Its been good, no problem. It was a year ago when they installed it. We don't use very much of the gas so they charge a lot more.

Everything was fine. Their service is pretty good. I have a 24/7 service agreement with them. If I have an issue with my boiler, I can make them come out pretty fast. It's within the 4-hour window of when I needed them. Price-wise, they're in the middle of the road. They're not the best but they're not the worst out there.

I originally started with an oil company back in '88 and they sold out to another company, and then it turned that company to Petro so I have Petro probably for the last 18 years. Their service is getting worse. I have a service agreement with them, and they are supposed to come out once a year to do a tune up on my furnace and my boiler. They used to call and schedule an appointment. Now they don't call. I just called them and they said they can get to me on February. He knows and I know that they are not coming out on February because they are going to be balls to the wall servicing people that don't have heat in the house. They are not going to be coming out doing tune ups on systems. They are going to be too busy doing breakdowns and getting people heat in the house so I don't expect them to do that. They are not going to do too much then so I have canceled them. Their prices are higher than everybody else. I started calling around. I got a different company and I can end up canceling them. The service started getting worse and this was after I bought a furnace from them 3 years ago. I'm an old customer. They said that if I buy the furnace, they would give me a 2-year service contract. It's a brand new furnace so what are they going to be servicing? The thing shouldn't break down anyway. They tried to use that to get me to buy the furnace from them. I haven't seen them since. I tried to get tune up done 2 years in a row, and they put me off. Last year they said they can do it in the spring and this year they said they would do it in February. That's not going to work. I want the tune up done before the winter. They used to call and schedule appointments and now they don't do that. The oil prices vary from year to year. It did go down this year but they are still higher than everybody else. They sell $2.29 a gallon and the service contract that I have is the lowest bid because I have a new furnace. They have 3 bids. I have 2 years free service because I bought a furnace from them and this year I think they charged me $297 which they refunded because I didn't use it. That was under automatic delivery so I canceled the automatic delivery and canceled my contract with them and they refunded the money. The guys who came here did a great job installing it. The first time I've used it, I had a problem and they were here to fix it right away. I have no problem with the furnace. I had a lot of problems with my old furnace that was why I needed a new one, and they did all they could to keep it going so I have no problems with the guys who came here.

I've had them for years and I like them. I was on a budget plan but their prices were very high.

We have a yearly contract with them. We pay once a year. Any time we call them or anything happens they come. Because of a hurricane we got a new furnace a year and a half ago. The service is just regular. They come and service it and leave. We have had them for 17 years. Every year we have a price guarantee.

It was not okay. We were low on oil and we have gone with them. They promised us twice to deliver the day we called. We called in the morning and they said that our oil is on the truck but they did not come and that happened twice. So my husband called and they assured us. It was urgent and we wanted to be sure there was oil in the tank while we were gone for two weeks. But they didn?t come so we just asked our neighbour to check our oil tank. We received the oil on the 31st of March which was two days after we left. It was a rough start. we received a 168 gallons for the price. The oil seems to be fine. There was no damage done or anything. They did not respond very well. The people we talked to were very professional but I don't know where the hang up was. We did sign up a contract with them for our furnaces. They also installed our furnace two or three years ago.

The issue I am having now is that they are pushing my service date back to January. Normally they are very responsive and great to work with, but this seems to be a recent issue which is frustrating because the service date has been pushed back so far that it will be beyond Fall and in the middle of Winter until they are able to service my burner.

Their service plan has gone up on the average of $80 per year for the last few years. I always call and try to negotiate a better price and usually succeed to some extent; but unless you call and argue with them, you're paying even more ridiculous prices. I've been a 20-year customer and was happy with the original Erickson Oil Company, which Petro apparently bought. Since then, the prices have gone up, up, up. Even with the service agreement, I usually have to pay when something goes wrong. My last service plan negotiation with them was unpleasant and I dropped the plan. Every year it's a hassle and I'm tired of dealing with them. I also have a price cap agreement with them until end of July 2014 and automatic fuel delivery. Even with a price cap (4.199 per gallon for 2013-2014), they're very, very overpriced. I never had a problem with their service staff. They were responsive and professional. I'm canceling my account when the price cap agreement expires at the end of July. If I cancel before then, they charge a $300 penalty. My advice? Go elsewhere.

Petro charges the highest price in the State for heating oil. Go to http://www.energy.ri.gov/energyprices/oilprices.php where you can see the price of heating oil in RI,average, highest and lowest price, by the week. Petro will tell you that they are a "full service provider" and use that to justify their preditory pricing. Heating oil is the same wherever you go for it. Their service technicians are ok, but no better than anyone else's. It is a company driven by greed. I contacted three different companies that advertise in my local town paper. All were full service; all prices were substantially less. I settled on Santoro Oil. Unlike Petro they do not charge more for being on a budget plan. And they give me a 5% discount for on time payment. Stay away from Petro, and pass the word

I had Petro Oil for over 10 years and they were always professional, courteous and punctual with their deliveries and service calls. The only reason I am not still with them is I converted from oil to gas, due to the rising cost of oil. If I were to still have oil to heat my home, I would definitely use them again. Their service calls were always prompt.

All three service calls were answered professionally and the issues were fixed free of charge.

They were prompt and clean. They did the job I needed and the machine is now in working order.

Doug is the usual technician we use. I like that I don't have to be home for them to do the work, which is nice. Everything was fixed and has been working properly since.

Have always provided good service. Will continue to use them.

Our experience with PETRO Company has been fine so far. The technicians cleaned up the furnace really well. They came on time. Their customer service is pretty good. We haven’t had any issues with them. We would continue to use their service in the future.

I switched to another company because their price was high. Everything else was good. They were very competent.

Thay came and filled our tank, which was near empty, withn a couple of days after calling them. And they deliver the oil before it has a chance to run out, so things are going normally without any problems.

These people have been the best since we got them last year. The service man are friendly and helpful. They answered every question we had. We asked for a salesman to come last year when we first bought the house and see if we needed a new tank and air conditioner compressor and he walked out of the house not selling us anything. He said we and I would not sell you anything you don't need. He was honest and that impressed me so much. He could have said yes you needed this and that and being a first time home owner he could have taken us for everything. I recalled him back this year and we talked and he agreed that maybe we should do the tank this year to be on the safe side and make me comfortable. It wasn't his idea but mine. I wanted to be done because I felt we needed one not him. These people are wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone.

I have used Petro for about 6 years. We basically have nothing to do with each other: they deliver my oil and I pay their bill. They did come out and repair my furnace once, and that was also reasonably priced.

Their Salesman was very knowledgable and respectful. They did not do a hard sell but let us take our time getting other quotes and making a descision. The team that removed and replaced our equipmment was efficent and hard-working. They left the basement cleaner than when they found it. Even after a very long day of work the two gentelmen spent extra time reviewing our new heating and water heater systems with us. The office staff at Petro also went the extra mile to assist with some questions I had on some energy rebates that were available to us for the new systems. Overall, every interaction with this company has been pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a new system.
