Melvin Power Wash

The contact initially was slow and the person who called did not have a knowledge of the geography of CT so didn't know how to schedule differing locales in the same day. I had asked the question about the additional doors via email and never received a response. I also was the one who had to confirm the appointment. While they did not arrive on time, they did call within the window to tell me they would be late. The work completed was extraordinary! They are simply beautiful. One thing to note, the person doing the inside work was on his phone almost the whole time that he was here which normally would be fine but I work from home and had to at least once leave the room so that I could hear my own telephone conversation. In his defense, I said nothing to him but it would be nice if he was more conscience of his surroundings and what the homeowner may have going on.

They seemed to do a very thorough job cleaning all of our gutters. Arrived on time and were very professional.

Well, to start, they were about 1.5 hrs late of scheduled 7AM appointment. They showed up and one greeted me - with broken English. The other could not speak English. The gentleman who 'could' understand said "power wash house?" 'Ah yes, that is what I ordered' The $249 was to include the following: Description: Here's the Deal: $249 for house pressure-washing Valid for homes up to 2,000 square feet; extra square footage can be cleaned for an additional fee per square foot Pressure-washing for siding only; minor spot-cleaning of brick Bonus service includes cleaning window frames, washing window screens, and thoroughly rinsing windows, gutters, and downspouts. As they were wrapping up, they gave me an initial invoice saying $249 (which I paid and purchased the deal on Angie's List on September 14th) but they just added $100 for extra sq ft! What extra? I know my house's exterior is less than 2,000 sq ft. Worker called boss/owner Melvin. Spoke to Melvin over the phone and he told me it was $100 more because he saw 2150 sq ft on Google! First, that is living space including finished basement. And if you are going to pop in the extra fee on, you best be telling your customers before the work gets started! And they had plenty of time to get the square foot from September 14 - October 9th. FYI - if you want to look at the sq footage without physically being there to measure or estimate, each city or town has a website to see home appraisals and assessments. My official home exterior (to be power washed including garage is approx 1900 sq ft.) Anyway, he agreed not include the 100 extra dollars. When I presented the coupon I purchased to the two workers about what it included, they look dumbfounded and possibly had difficulty reading the order? I had to ask them to wash the screens which they just power washed w/water after I placed the screens in the window. What about thoroughly washing windows, washing screens? No gutter or downspout cleaning either. If this is not included suggestion would be to show $249 for power-washing exterior and leaving the bonus out...but since it was included, it really was not touched or even bothered to be done by the workers. They were ready to mosey on out of here and call it done at my house. They did a good job with the exterior (bright and clean) although there are some stains at the front of the house that I feel should have been cleaned better. I think for future power washers, I will just rent one and do it on my own.

They did a good job. I thought that it was somewhat expensive. There was an extra charge, it turned out that the water proofing didn't have any color, it wasn't with a stain, so the extra cost was for stain. The workers were very prompt. They cleaned the area well. I recommend getting more than one estimate.

I attempted multiple times to reach this company and have some work done and I've yet to recieve any response whatsoever.

It was okay, it wasn’t anything totally impressive. I would say it was average.

The gutter joints started leaking last winter and then due to the weight of ice were no longer level. Melvin's 2 service people used a patch material on the joints, adjusted the level and added some brackets and used a garden hose to test the system.

Melvin and his crew did an excellent job with all aspects of the work. They washed 24 windows and screens inside and out; the windows were absolutely gleaming after they finished, and haven't looked so clean in the 7 years that I've been living in this home. The deck and railings, which had a lot of dirt and green mold all over, have finally returned to their original colors, and the exterior of the house looks much fresher and brighter after a thorough wash and new coat of paint. The price may seem high relative to the other projects reviewed here, but it's actually quite reasonable for the amount of work involved, based on comparisons with bids I obtained from a couple of other contractors. They also caulked around some of the window frames, which went beyond the tasks specified in the original project estimate, at no additional cost. A minor negative point was that after the painting, some paint spatters were left on the freshly washed window screens and the front door. Also, the guys would often show up unannounced, without phoning me beforehand as requested (I have skittish animals in the house and want to cover the windows before people start working outside). However, I must say that Melvin made a great effort to fit the work in efficiently with his other jobs, and completed the project earlier than expected, which is very rare in my experience of contractors. (I also appreciated that the guy cleaning the windows inside was extra careful around the animals.) Overall, I am highly satisfied with the conscientious attitude and quality of work provided by Melvin and co. I would definitely hire them again for this kind of job and am thinking of asking them to clean and repair my gutters later in the fall.

very professional completed job in 2hours great workmanship

We just moved into our home and it's never been power washed and was downright filthy. they did a great job and he is a nice young man. Just a word of advice. Power washing the house and then cleaning the windows later is going to leave residue unless thoroughly rinsed so walk around to make sure that is done properly. Hard to tell it's not too streaky until after the windows dry. We didn't do both at the same time because I thought he was a little too expensive on the window cleaning so I'll do that at a later time since they weren't too bad. but they do a great job. But you know the adage. You get what you pay for so I'll be calling him this spring.

Actual work was top notch. My windows look amazing. Unfortunately it took a while for the team to come out and complete the project. There were a few emergencies, and a bad weather day that didn't get communicated in a timely fashion. Again, they do great work, but can improve their consistency.

Cost-effective, courteous and trustworthy. My job was likely easier than most as the fence(s) was brand new - no need to power wash. Additionally, as one side of the larger fence faced out and was difficult to get to, they did not need to oil it. Knowing all that, I wish the attention to detail was better. Objectively it was still a decent deal - I didn't need to buy the oil nor do the work. But, it wasn't as good of a deal as it could / should have been - was a very easy job.

Very pleased with Melvin and his team. Lisseth, the office assistant, was very easy to get a hold of and answered any questions I had. Melvin showed up on time and did an excellent job with the powerwashing. The siding on the house looks beautiful as a result. There was a section of siding that was coming loose that I could not get to w/o a large ladder and Melvin helped by fixing / nailing the section. Melvin did a great job of cleaning up after he left as well. When Melvin provided me with the estimate, I had also asked him if he could help replacing a chimney cap and with replacing some roofing trim that had both fallen off due to high winds. Even though it wasn't something that Melvin typically did he provided me with a fair estimate (add'l cost from powerwashing) and did a nice job with those items as well. Highly recommend Melvin for his powerwashing services and also for his abilities and willingness to help with other minor household repairs as well.

Very happy with the quality of the work that Melvin and his assistant performed. Melvin showed up on time and did a great job of powerwashing the deck and making minor repairs where needed to our stairs and railings. Melvin came back a few days later and did an amazing job with re-staining the deck. We have had friends and neighbors over who have commented on multiple occasions how great the deck looks now and mentioned that it looks like new. Melvin also helped with powerwashing and sealing our stamped concrete patio. The powerwashing went well, but the initial seal coating didn't turn out as I would have expected. Melvin and Lisseth were easy to get a hold off and offered to come back and reseal the concrete patio one more time. Melvin just wrapped up the job today and everything looks excellent. Highly recommend Melvin for his work ethic, integrity, and professionalism. Will definitely turn to him again if there is other powerwashing and staining work that is needed around the house.

Melvin is a very professional yet down to earth guy. He and his workers did a great job with our gutters. I mentioned to him that my husband had a recent problem getting on the roof and couldn't paint the side of our house. He said "we paint"...well he and his crew did a great job and we are very happy with the outcome of the painting (as well as the gutters). He and his crew cleaned up everything and yes, we will hire them in the fall for gutter cleaning...and if we need it - painting. Melvin and his crew are very refreshing and very comfortable to be around.

I was very impressed with the quality of their work. They exceeded my expectations. My brickwork was pristine when they finished. My windows have never looked so good. As I say, they went beyond just doing a good job. I will definitely call on Melvin for future projects. Very highly recommended.

Melvin and his assistant arrived on time and proceeded to clean gutters on both floors of my house. He checked the drainpipe protectors and made suggestions for keeping them free of clogging. Checked a problem downspout and added more secure screws to hold it in place. He was upbeat and friendly throughout the job. I definitely would hire him again.

Went well - nice professional guys

It went very well. They were very professional and responsive and friendly. It took a bit of time to schedule but I understood that they were very busy because they had sold a lot of these deals and it was their busy time--early summer! I was happy with the choice of color for the stain, and the wood looks SO MUCH better than before, and it appears to repel water well so far. We've had compliments from our neighbors. I'd definitely recommend Melvin's and have them here to do work again.

He had to come back a second time to get it done. They left the windows streaky which my wife is not happy about. I found another vendor that does the same thing but they wash your windows as part of the package.

I was not at the house, completed the job with no problems.
