Response from Paul Adams Painting LLC
We did this painting last winter. The Big Deal coupon is for 8 hours of work. The estimate was for $140 more than what the 8 hours covered. It looked like the paint would cover without the cost of apply a coat of primer everywhere. When the painters saw that tar from smoking was bleeding through the paint, I knew it would need BIN primer so I called the customer. We had already painted over half the apartment at that point. I offered to prime the whole apartment for $300 which included the cost of the primer. This was well below my cost of doing it. In addition, I offered to repaint the areas we had already painted at no extra cost. The customer declined to have us do any more. If I knew at the start that tar would bleed through, of course I would have called for the primer from the beginning. But it really did not look to me like it would need it. Sometimes you can't see it all. What I offered to charge for applying this primer was less than if I had called for it in the beginning. I was prepared to do this additional work at a loss to me. In most professions, additional work is needed at times and cannot be always seen at the start. I don't know if this customer thinks I tried to take advantage in this situation. The opposite is true. If anyone would like to check, the Better Business Bureau gives us their A+ rating. I did my best to rectify this. I would respectfully ask this customer to re-consider this complaint and rating.
