First Place Painting

The contractor submitted a written estimate and was very responsive when told to proceed. The work was completed quickly during good weather conditions and a good job was done, with quality materials. The workmen were very cooperative and they paid attention to detail.

Bill came out promptly to give me an estimate and give me a time frame of when they could start. I asked him to make some adjustments to the quote as I changed the job a bit. He did so promptly and without a problem. He was very professional and easy to work with. The main painter was a little late the first day but got to work quickly. They finished the job as instructed and within 1 day. Once the paint fully dried I found some areas that needed to be addressed. I sent Bill photos and he had his team come out right away to correct the areas. I had to clean up a bit after they left as they used the bath tub to clean off their brushes but in their defense, I did not have a utility sink for them to use.

Absolutely professional, courteous service. Workmanship was outstanding. Prompt response to my request for an estimate. Work was performed and completed the next day. Would hire them again in a heartbeat

I am a repeat customer of First Place and can say with certainty that I will be using them again in the future. Bill and his team are always professional and courteous and it was clear from my first conversation that I was in good hands. I used First Place on two separate occasions for the interior of our house. The results were fantastic, the process was smooth, and the price was fair--an all around great experience.

The painters arrived on time and cleaned up before they left. I was comfortable with them in my house. They were here for 2 days. I did have an issue with the work done by the painters who arrived the second day (1 guy was the same as the 1st day, the 2nd guy was a new guy). I contacted Bill and he sent someone over to correct the issue at a time that was convenient for me. Would do business again with First Place Painting.

The owner, Bill, came out right away to provide us with a quote. He was very professional and gave us a few options for paint and price. Ed and Jonathan arrived exactly on time and got to work right away. They were also very professional worked quickly and did a great job. We will have them back to paint our other rooms!

I recently had first place painting complete my bathroom project and they were fantastic! The owner Bill, was professional and was able to provide the flexibility for me to have this done during a hectic work schedule. Bob completed my project and treated my home as if it were his own. They really took the time to listen and make sure my project was completed with care. I would definitely recommend them to my family and friends and look forward to using them again for my next project!

We were pleased with the work Ed, George, and the rest of the crew did. They are friendly and courteous. Their work is neat and very professional.When they were finished everything looked great. This was the second time they did work for us in our home.

They moved my furniture and moved it back. I used them several times before. One of their guys did a great job painting. When they moved everything back, we couldn't find our phone cords. He left it someplace where it shouldn't have been. They had to come back and remove everything. It was a little bit of a hassle from that standpoint. They were very accommodating. They came right back out and did it. They're a little on the high side. The quality of the painting was wonderful.

Bill the owner was very quick to come out and take a look at the job; a ~25 feet sloped ceiling 2 story foyer that needed drywall tape repairs and paint, a large family room that needed 22 wall patches finished and the room repainted, and a large master bed room that needed 8 wall patches finished and the room painted. Bill was quick to provide a detailed quote via email detailing the work to be done and Sherwin Williams paint to be used. HIs overall price was also extremely competitive compared to another painter quote who was trying to price the job down to the workdays. BIll's approach and attitude was more along the lines of "we'll do what it takes and take reasonable time to do it right". The master bed room was done quickly and the wall and ceiling patches were finished flawlessly; even knowing where to look it is hard to tell that there were about eight 4 inch squares cut out all over the place from an unrelated recessed lighting install. Definitely a level of skill involved and demonstrated here to get that kind of results. For comparison, I performed similar work in other rooms myself and took over 4-6 days of spackling, sanding, spackling again, sanding again, spackling once more, and one more sandng to get similar results. George from First Place painting did that in about a day and a half! They also took great care to tape over and cover room windows, centering furniture and covering with plastic sheeting, taking off outlet covers, and laying painting tarps all over the room. The 2 story foyer got the same prep treatment over the stairs, everything was nicely covered. George patched a hole here as well and it looks great. He took the time to discuss options for leaving or removing picture frame hanging nails and whether I'd like the big ac unit filter register painted as well. George is a painter who takes pride in his work indeed. Before, the foyer had sagging corner tape on both side but now it looks crisp and freshly painted. Unless you're comfortable climbing 20 ft plus on a ladder and doing detailed painting work at odd angles..... this one is better left to the pros. The family room started with ~8 drywall patches but ballooned to 22 as I took the opportunity to run speaker wiring, video, and network wiring. They were very understanding of what I was trying to do and remained committed to apply their trade and skill to fix everything and paint to satisfaction. They did have to come back to touch up but did so without any complaint and went above and beyond to make sure it was all to my satisfaction. WIth this kind of service and competitive pricing, I am severely tempted to have them do more rooms in the house if the overall remodel budget wasn't so strained already.

If there was an A+ rating option, that's what First Place would receive from me! Owner Bill Ferst was recommended to me by my realtor after a dishwasher fiasco sent hot water pouring through my family room ceiling and under my living/dining room carpets for over 8 hours. He was responsive, accessible and had great cost-saving suggestions. I was presented with an estimate that included several options and given ample time to review and ask questions before signing off on my final decisions. Work was scheduled to begin after construction repairs were completed. My job was completed in 2 1/2 days by a totally professional and dedicated team - Tony and Collier. They were polite, helpful and so responsible that I felt comfortable going to work and leaving them in the house. Bill came by several times to check on progress and stayed in touch by phone throughout the process. A few final touches will be needed after my handyman does some additional work. Bill readily offered to send someone back when I'm ready. I couldn't be more pleased with the job, the team or the owner! If you need painting - they definitely are First Place!

Initially it went well. Bill came over and provided quotes for both painting trim around the windows and prep and stain our deck. We went with just the trim. I explained to him that I needed the work done on Mon/Wed/Fri because I have dogs and Tues thru Thurs they are home and would go nuts with the painting going on. Bill had said it wouldn't be an issue and he could get it done after Labor day (Note: his visit was on August 8th). I wasn't in rush and was flexible. I made the deposit and waited to hear back from him. By mid-September I hadn't heard anything and emailed him for an update. Bill replied that he would find some firm dates and it would be done prior to the end of the month. He responded back 5 days later to tell me that the work would be done on a Saturday the 27th which didn't work because my dogs would be home. I reminded him of this during his initial visit that it had to be done during the time given initially. He then moved it to the September 26th. On the 26th two workers came out. They began scraping and didn't power wash per the quote (see attachment) provided by the company. They spray primed the wood and painted two coats. When it got done I noticed that some of the areas of paint didn't match and had the painters touch up the spots. However the clean-up left omitted cleaning the paint flecks which we over my red stained deck along with paint to which I had to sweep up and clean off. I emailed Bill and asked him to come out the following Monday which he did. I asked him to review the work by his crew and pointed out the various areas where the paint didn't match and an area that was already chipping. I asked him why certain spots were patched/sanded and primed whereas others weren't. I asked him why it wasn't power washed per my quote to which he said it would have taken 2 days and he instead sent two people to get it done in one day. His quote says otherwise (see attached). Bill took pics of the areas I pointed out. I told him before he left that I was flexible on getting this done and please come back to me when a date so I could make sure my dogs weren't around. The following Saturday my Wife and I stood on our deck and noticed that areas of the trim that looked repainted didn't match and actually looked worse then before. I received a text msg from Bill that following Monday informing me that his guy had come over and patched things up. I responded that the patching looked worse then before and I would send photos to him stating the same. After sending the photos over I got more upset because I felt this unscheduled work was underhanded. I told him that I had researched his company on Angie's List and picked him because of his company's good reviews. The follow up work looked like a rush job in between other jobs. Specifically it looked like 3M patch/primer with a quick coat of paint. In the end I explained I wouldn't be using his 2 year warranty and would find someone else moving forward.

George the painter showed up on time and was very professional and courteous. No paint splatters and took the time to remove all hardware and window treatments. Even though I had purchased this thru a groupon I do feel the pricing is a little high compared to painting services I have used in the past. However they were reliable and would recommend due to quality of service.

The salesman was friendly and responsive to our first call. the price was reasonable They arrived as scheduled and were amenable to adding work to the project, but they created a mess . They did not use adequate drop clothing and had multiple areas where the paint splattered our hardwood and dripped on oor walls. They removed the recessed lighting molding to paint the ceilings, but replaced them cockeyed. While the salesman was english as a primary language, the work crew provided some language barriers, though we were always able to get our original salesman on the phone when needed. Overall, there was little attention to detail and I would not likely use them again.

The owner, Bill, was accommodating in working with me to schedule the work for a few warm days in December. Crew chiefs Tony and Brian were great to deal with. They took their time and did a nice job. I was happy with the work and would use them again.

The job went perfectly!! They did a beautiful job, were neat and clean, and the project was completed in a timely manner. I was amazed at Ed's steady hand...there is not one drop of paint on the beautiful scalloped border!!! This is the second job they have done in our home and I keep getting happier and happier with their work! I'm falling in love with my house again, one room at a time, as Bill and his employees transform my tired rooms into gleaming beauties. Thanks guys, you're the best!

Very Good. The painting was done within expectations. Unfortunately due to weather conditions, delays were realized by two days. Painters did come and finish job after weather. Was away on vacation for a week and left Bill and his crew my house keys and did not have any issues with them being in the house. Workers very professional. No MESS. No tell tale signs that they were there. Highly recommend.

We had nail pops and cracks in our cathedral ceilings in the living room and family room and an especially bad crack in our entry way ceiling. The original builders of our house did not fasten the drywall correctly to the beams and it was just literally hanging without support in the entry. The job was bigger than expected because of that issue. A large area of the old drywall had to be taken down and replaced with new drywall which had to be mudded and sanded. We were not charged any additional fees except for the cost of the new drywall which we purchased. The project took twice as long as they had expected because of the problem. They were clean and very professional. I would highly recommend them (and I have) to anyone needing this kind of work.
