On the plus side, Shawn was very responsive, very professional and provided a very competitive quote. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. Unfortunately, Shawn was on vacation when the project started and wasn't there to supervise the painting crew. who decided to short-cut every step. The cabinets were not sanded properly, they did not fill holes, and incomprehensibly, they chose not to prime the cabinets before painting. After several coats, we could still see the old color coming through, and in some spots the paint just rubbed off. In addition, there were many spots where they missed completely, they failed to fill and prep the holes where the prior knobs were (which showed right through the paint), and in the end, the cabinets required 4 or more coats because they weren't primed. They came back one more time and fixed most of the issues, but I have no confidence that the paint will hold up without a prime coat underneath. Shawn seems like a decent painter, but unfortunately his crew was completely unqualified for this work. We will not be using LaffCo again.

His men do have to return to finish re staining the front door since I supplied them with the wrong color.

We bought a new very old house with dingy old paint in every room, closet and hallway. Before we moved in we were having tons of work done including electrical and floors, all for over a month. We wanted a painter who could do the work well, but also quickly, so we could move in and start enjoying the new house. A couple of smaller outfits gave us heart stopping quotes and told us it would take 3 weeks to complete the job. 3 weeks! I found Laffco here on Angie's list. Their website is pretty slick and I was able to set up time for a quote. Shawn was right on time. He explained how a lot of our trim was oil and our options in using oil based primer and the best paint for our very old plaster walls. He also said he could do the job (the first job was maybe half the house) in 2-3 days. I got the quote via their neat website that allows you to select options (rooms for example) and sign the deal. A crew of at least six guys arrived and they finished the job in the 2-3 days. Very clean too. A few weeks later we arranged the second part of the job for while we were away on vacation and they finished that in a few days too (and that was a huge job with massive amounts of trim, three floors of stairways, hallways, closets and rooms). My wife kept trying to tell me we could do all this ourselves (in maybe a year?), but the minute she walked in and saw the paint job she said, "Worth every penny." With so much work and doing it so fast, they did miss a few things here and there, BUT they came out more than once to do various touch up work. I have found a few more spots that need touching up, and I'm sure they will live up to their 2 year guarantee, but it's no big deal. Shawn and Andy are super easy to work with. Very good work, very fast work, very good communication, flexible on scheduling, responsive to any issues and pricing that seems fair to both parties.

Very clean, professional, and communicative every step of the way. The work looks great -- very clean lines -- and we're happy with the timing and professionalism.

Great job. This is the second time I used Shawn I would definitely him again. I highly recommend them for anybody looking for paint work. They are real pros and do great work at a reasonable price.

Painting entire 3BR apartment. Perfect all around!!

1. we requested to use eggshell finish, but they used flat finish for our family room, laundry room, stairwell, living room. 2. We requested 0 VOC and he promised to use zero VOC material several times, but all white paints they used were 100% organic chemical based materials. 3. On the last day, the bill showed he charged extra $200 without notifying until i pointed out. In addition, he requested me to pay check, and told me if I pay credit card, I need pay 4% more. All of these charges were out of expectation. 4. When they told me that they completed the project, all my room doors or trim doors could not be closed (because they did not sand). I had to find contractor to adjust my doors. 5. Quality is much worse (very thin, peel off) than what they promised the best quality since we paid high price

Shawn and his team were extremely professional and excellent to work with. They gave us a very competitive quote (which was in line with the final cost) and were able to give us an accurate estimate of when the project would begin and would be completed. The painting work was high quality and the team was courteous insofar as to complete the front of our house ahead of a holiday weekend so that we could enjoy its new look when hosting friends and family. Neighbors literally stop to admire how beautiful the house looks. The team did a great job. I would not hesitate to use LaffCo again and would absolutely recommend them to a friend or neighbor.

Shawn Lafferty and his team couldn't have been more professional, friendly, cooperative, solicitous or efficient. They met all my requests with a willing and helpful spirit. They were respectful of me and the property and clearly wanted to do a good job. As an example, I wanted to make sure the trellis was fixed and painted before the wisteria began blooming, and Shawn made a point of saying that they would be sure to take care of the trellis first thing, and they did - just before the first buds arrived.

Excellent. Sean and his crew are great, fast and clean. Unfortunately we have moved to the West coast and cannot use his services again - unless he wants to get on a plane ...

Shawn (or Sean?), the owner, met us and quoted on both projects - very personable. In 2013 we had just purchased a new house and had the work done before we moved in. Shawn did most of the work himself while we weren't there. The results were fantastic. He had to skim a lot of wall in one bedroom and did and excellent job. I believe the work turned out to be more than he estimated, but he never requoted or increased the cost. In 2014 by coincidence we were out of town when he painted the second time, and we also had a contractor working on a separate project. I understand that he had his crew there instead of doing the work himself. They did an ok job, but not as neat and meticulous as the work Shawn did himself. There seemed to be a tiff between our contractors and Shawn's team - since we weren't there we don't know what really happened, but I feel that both Shawn's crew and our contractors could have handled it better. Overall I'd be willing to hire him again, but I would request that Shawn be there himself and oversee the work.

It went well, they left the house in perfectly neat order and were very helpful in deciding colors, etc.

They did not give me 16 hours more like 14. They took an hour lunch break and left early. Between two guys they were here for 6 1/2 to 7 hours each. They did not do the drywall repair, they just globbed paint on and did not clean up. I have chunks of paint in my woodwork. I provided all the materials. it seems like the company tries but they hire out guys who do a mediocre guys.

I purchased one of the deals for $499 for 16 hrs of wallpaper removal and painting. The job ran over by about 2 hours but overall the process went very well. There was just a delay in scheduling due to an already booked schedule with the company.

I purchased a painting special from LaffCo. Painting LLC. They send over two nice guys that did a great job. After they were finished they cleaned up everything and put all of my furniture back in place. I would definitely use these guys again and would recommend them to others.

At my request, the painters used great care and precision in painting rooms in a refurbished 1905 house. They kept the woodwork and wood floors free of any paint specs. Great job.

I purchased a Big Deal and boy did I get a GREAT DEAL! Shawn was responsive, communicative and on top of things from start to finish. He and his painters showed up on time (actually a little early - a first from any contractor) and they didn't waste a second setting up and getting to work. The paint job is excellent! I have plaster walls with a minor textured relief which means trim work can be a bit tricky (where the texture meets flat surface). It's beautiful. I keep staring at my walls -they have never looked this good. They were super nice too, and left my house cleaner than when they entered. Shawn is now my go to painter and I will use him again in the future. I highly recommend his services.

Team arrived on time and finished ahead of schedule. Workmanship was generally excellent. (Although some little details were overlooked such as painting around two switch plates rather than removing them and missing spot above the sink.) I had done most of the prep work, including moving furniture. Painters were professional, courteous and helpful in completing sanding and covering of floors, cabinets, remaining furniture and removing and reattaching window hardware. I'd use the company again for home projects.

Service provider was very quick to initially get back to me. Stated on 9/25 that he would be scheduling that weekend. As of 10/15 still had not heard back. In fairness I did say we were flexible to have the work done in the next 6 weeks and gave dates that have not yet past so this should not reflect poorly on the service provider. I did however expect to be contacted further about the project details and setting a date and that did not happen yet so I am concerned with getting past the 30 day mark and being locked in for purchase amount at this point when there a lot of unknowns around this project. I'll be more specific going forward when purchasing service.

Besides being very professional and doing really good work, I was most impressed with the diligence Shawn and team showed. Shawn personally went back to the paint store 3 times, to get just the right matching color for existing painted surfaces that needed sprucing up.

Two men worked eight hours. Courteous, neat, took down and replaced window treatments & replaced furniture. Couldn't have gone more smoothly. Very happy with the experience.
