We do our best to provide top quality work while respecting your home. Once we start the job, we will continue working until your are satisfied with the results. I will stay in touch with your throughout the project to ensure that there are no problems. As you can see by the reviews here on Angie's List, not every job goes according to plan, so we are flexible and able to adapt to new situations quickly. We only use high quality paints and tools that will give your home the best look possible. I personally manage every job and make sure that my highly experienced employees are doing exactly what is expected. Owner-operated. No subs. Cost is determined by the job.
They showed up on time and as promised finished the work in three days. I was really suprised on how fast they work. They seem to enjoy what they do. Not a single drop of paint on the floor. We had the walls painted different colors and everything went very well. We even changed our minds about the color of the kitchen after the paint was purchased and Barry was very understanding and went back to Sherwin Williams and got the paint that we requested.
Description of Work: Barry and his crew are the best. We got estimates from several contractors and based on reviews posted on Angies List we decided to go with Barry. We have 20 foot ceilings in our house and were worried on how the work will be done. They painted the hallway, family room, living room, dining room, kitchen and the hallway on the second floor.

In our view, Barry and his team meet the "gold standard" of professional contractors. We originally contacted Barry because of his expertise in eco-friendly paints. We interviewed several painters and Barry seemed to be the easiest to work with. Barry was extremely responsive (email and phonecalls) throughout the process, his pricing was competitive and he was very flexible in terms of scheduling. Barry and his team arrived on time everyday during the project and were very respectful of our home. Just as significant--the project was completed on time. In addition, we had hired an interior designer to assist with color-selection. Her specifications were somewhat complicated--and Barry's team executed her plan to specification. We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of Barry's work or the overall experience--we highly recommend Barry for your painting needs.
Description of Work: We had the entire interior of our 2200 square-foot 4-story townhouse painted, including walls, ceiling and trim.
The work was done over less than 3 days. Barry and his staff arrived punctually at the promised time. At the end of each day, the rooms were tidied up and left in great condition. The painting was done carefully and well - it looks terrific. Barry offered a number of suggestions and recommendations around types of paints, and great attention was paid to details. They were a pleasure to have in the house, and were very easy to communicate with. I would wholeheartedly recommend them for any painting or wall repair, and have no doubt that other home repairs would be also done similarly well. I have already requested estimates from Barry for several more rooms in my house requiring repairs to the ceilings as well as painting. I have no complaints or negative observations at all about any aspect of the work completed and am in fact thrilled with the results. Pricing was fair and appropriate. Appreciative comments from others upon first seeing the newly painted rooms included that it looked like a page from a Pottery Barn catalogue!
Description of Work: The existing wall paper was removed and all defects in walls were addressed via spackling. A large hole in the plaster was also repaired, and woodwork that had been chewed by the dog or was otherwise missing was replaced and repaired. The walls and woodwork were then painted.

Of the three painters who came out to appraise the job, Barry was the most prompt and thorough of the three and his pricing competitive. One painter failed to even give us a bid, despite having surveyed the work to be done. Barry's crew is young and obviously take care and pride in their work. We were very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Barry responded quickly to my request for a bid on the job: repairing plaster and painting walls and ceilings in the dining room, three storey hallway, and three bedrooms in a restored Victorian house. Extra care in painting was required as the woodwork had been recently refinished with shellac. Walls and ceilings in some rooms needed significant prep work to remove flaking paint and repair cracks. A crew of three would arrive by 9 am and finish around 5 pm. They worked in 90 degree heat without complaint and finished the job in six days. The results were truly outstanding. I recommend Barry and his crew without reservation.

Barry is a great communicator. He is available via email and phone and responds immediately to any issue. His quote was HALF of the other estimates we received. He made sure our project would appropriately fit into his schedule and started and finished ON TIME! His crew is careful, artistic, and efficient. Barry himself is a great guy. I would recommend he and his team for any painting or home improvement job you may have.
Description of Work: Barry and his crew removed wallpaper from a power room, dinning room, and our foyer. He then painted those rooms, our living room, family room, one other full bath, upstairs hallway, and four bedrooms. Essentially he painted most of our 2500 square foot house in 5 days.

Things went great with Barry right from the beginning. i am renovating a house for my son and live in a different city, so had to communicate from out of town and did several trips back and forth. Barry showed up at the time he was supposed to for estimate which was important to me- i could not not afford to waste time while i was in Philadelphia. He put together an estimate promptly. Some areas were slightly more than i wished to pay and we worked the details to make us both comfortable. In the end, of course, I added so many more things along the way as people usually do. He was good about communicating via email , which is key for me and also we texted a lot during the job, which made it easier for me too.(I'm big on texting!) He was extremely easy to work with and fair.He started the job when we discussed it would start and finished when I needed him to be, no problems at all, even with the extras i threw at him constantly ( and repaints colors i changed my mind about) If I was not 100% happy with anything , he went back at it until i was, no complaints, but there were few of those. The work was very good, always cleaned up, pleasant experience. I would definitely work with Barry again and recommended him to my realtor.I am extremely picky and critical and he was fantastic.
Description of Work: Barry and his small crew performed interior painting and wall repairs for my 100 year house. wall repairs on plaster ( where previous bad work had been performed) repaint all interior walls of 3 story twin home, approx 2200 square feet, lots of different colors used paint interior of closets and shelving built by contractor pressure wash fence and small outdoor patio repaint areas of trim in home, including baseboards, new shelving, stair spindles, trim around stairs paint some small areas of bare wood on outside window sills paint a pressure treated outdoor stairway rail, and some bare wood areas on outside window sills ( he does small exterior areas, not really an exterior painter- with tall ladders, etc) paint several ceilings caulk and repair some areas as needed

After reviewing multiple contractors on Angie's List, it was clear that Barry had all the qualifications to perform the work we were looking to have completed. Our house is over 100 years old ? there were multiple coats of paint over the wallpaper and the molding and trim were damaged and repaired several times showing its age. The bathroom walls were very uneven and had lots of divots and scratches. The kitchen ceiling had some water damage due to a prior leak. There was also some damaged trim and drywall by our front door. I emailed Barry about providing us an estimate for the work. Fortunately for me, work was slowing down for him (it was just before the Christmas Holiday) and he was able to come out and meet me within a day or two. I walked Barry through the house and showed him all the work. He was very familiar with what I was requesting and was able to set my expectations for how the work would go (it was very messy work). Within a day or two he provided me an estimate that was very reasonable. I went ahead and scheduled the work with him. Just before his work, we had new hardwood floors installed. Barry was very flexible in working with us to accommodate the hardwood floor installer?s schedule. Just before he started, I added a few other items to the list, which Barry promptly met me to discuss, and provided a revised estimate shortly thereafter. Once work began, Barry was very cautious of our new hardwood floors and did an excellent job protecting. We provided him a key that he used for the time he was working at our house. We felt very comfortable giving him our key and he locked up at the end of every day. On a few occasions, I meet the people that were working with Barry and they were extremely nice and professional. Even though Barry had other people helping out, he was on site everyday and gave me detailed progress reports at the end of each day. Removal of the wallpaper was extremely messy, which Barry warned me about beforehand, but he and his crew did a good job cleaning up at the end of every day. At the end of the project, Barry asked me to walk through the work and send him a list of anything that he missed. The next day he took care of any remaining items. Once he finished everything and was paid in full, we found an area that needed some touch-ups. I emailed Barry to let him know this, he apologized for the oversight and scheduled a time to come out and make it right. It was nice to see that even after we paid him in full, he was still willing to come out and make everything right. Barry?s customer service is outstanding. I would definitely use him again for work and would highly recommend him.
Description of Work: - Removal of wallpaper from dining room, hallway and bedroom. - Removal and replacement of molding and trim along baseboards and doors in dining room, hallway, bedroom and bathroom - Skim coating of bathroom walls - Painting kitchen ceiling - Painting of living room, dining room, hallway, bedroom and bathroom walls and trim - Various other small repairs around the house

Barry gave me an estimate that was $5,000 less than the other contractor who bid on the job. His final bill for the work matched the estimate exactly. He started and completed the job exactly when he said he would. It was a big job and it took him a week and a half. He and his crew were a pleasure to work with. I strongly recommend Barry, he is fantastic.

After meeting with this person, I promptly sent a bid via email as I usually do. I did not get a response for quite some time. Then, she contacted me and explained that the (cheaper) people she hired for the job did not come through for her. I am sorry that she thought my price was a "B."

Contacted through email, Barry came out and took notes on the different areas that needed fixing. Let us know of any concerns he had, (possible mold, Etc.) and got us an estimate in a few days. Pretty much everything else went as planned, except the drying time took an extra day. Good experience.

We have old plaster underneath which is why we had somebody come in and do it. Barry Bush did a pretty good job. There were a couple of areas that he missed. It was a big job and he had told us ahead of time to give him a call if there were one or two areas that he might have missed. So we did call him and he came back right away and fixed them. We were pretty satisfied with him. He is a really great communicator. He was on top of calling me back and e-mailing. If you are a person that can?t always talk on the phone, then you can e-mail him. His response time was really fast. He did everything in writing. He was very professional. His price was $1000 less than another person. I would use his services in the future too.
Description of Work: We had the wallpaper removed and painting done by Barry Bush Home Improvements in the beginning of November. They stripped the wallpaper out in our hallway, living room and dining room. They then painted the hallway.

I cannot praise Barry and his crew enough. Barry and his three colleagues were punctual, personable, and professional. They worked under somewhat difficult circumstances due to time constraints (on my part) and having to work around an ill golden retriever. This is the only company I will hire for painting and recommend them without reservation. The pricing was very reasonable and the finished product excellent. I'm thrilled with their work.

Barry responded promptly to phone and email contact. He and his coworker were punctual for the estimate appointment and on each day they did work. He was up-front about work types he does not do, and about an individual item he thought should not be done before another repair had been completed. He made time for the work to squeeze it in before a deadline on my end. He warned us about collateral dust from the work and made a real effort to contain it. The final product is very professional. Overall a pleasant experience and we will definitely call him next time.

In the course of interviewing a few different contractors for this job, Barry easily stood out as the most professional from the bunch. He was easily accessible by phone or email and always made sure to get back to me by the end of the day. His quote was very reasonable and the work done by him and his crew was very professional, on time and good quality. When I had some questions about how the deck stain was setting, he was there to make sure that I was satisfied with the work and felt that it was exactly what I wanted. He purchased all the materials for the job and presented me with all the receipts. I am going to need some more work done around the house over the next few months and will definitely call Barry.
Description of Work: Backyard Deck - I had an old composite deck that I wanted to replace with natural wood, have the length extend by 2 feet and also stained. Pella Wooden French doors - interior wood stained. Minor interior patching and painting.
Everything came out better than we could have imagined and he finished it with lightening speed. On top of that, he was friendly, punctual and communicative. We had a lot of questions and weren't particularly organized about our request. Barry was great at figuring out our priorities and designing a project plan. This was a great experience and we can't recommend him enough!
Description of Work: Barry patched up a few holes and "soffited" two ducts from our recent A/C installation. He also installed molding and painted a hallway.
We originally contacted Barry (via email through Angie?s List) to stain our deck. He was very responsive to our inquiry and came to our home within a week to give us an estimate. While at our home we also had him check out some water damaged walls in our basement, which he said he would be able/willing to repair. We received his estimate within a day or two and it was very reasonable so we hired him for both jobs. Barry and his employees are very professional, always showed up on time and completed both projects with excellent results. Both of our schedules required flexibility and he was very accommodating to our requests. While completing our deck we had him look around and give us an estimate for painting the interior of our home, which again was very reasonable and we hired him to paint our two children?s bedrooms. They came out great and we will be hiring him again to complete the remaining interior when finances allow.

Barry is extemely responsive and professional. He calls back promptly and showed up for both the estimate and the job when he said he would. He was also able to squeeze us in a good 2-3 weeks ahead of his original estimated schedule which we were thrilled about. We were very happy with the quality of the work performed and the timeframe in which it was completed. During the actual work phase it appeared as though he may have forgotten something we originally discussed/quoted and when reminded he took care of it immediately even though that meant redoing a coat of paint already applied. Complaints are minor but worth mentioning. The clean up was satisfactory but could have been better. We expected a lot of dust from sanding the walls prior to painting but we also expected what little furniture we left in the room to be fully covered and we observed only a dropcloth on the bed mattress. They definitely vacuumed but did not get under the bed. We also took great care to remove the majority of furniture from the room leaving only 2 heavy pieces that would need to be moved around within the room during the project. It does not appear that any type of furniture slider or mover was used and we were left with some scratches on our hardwood floors. Overall we were very satisfied with Barry's quality of work and his communication before, during and after the project is the best we've experienced.
Description of Work: - Repaired all damage on walls revealed after wallpaper stripping (3 rooms) - Painted all surfaces in the rooms: ceilings, walls, baseboard, interior of doors, door frames, window trim - Repaired the 3 doors on the 3rd floor that do not close properly

Response from Barry Bush Home Improvements Llc
First of all, I sincerely apologize about the scratches on the floor. We usually do our best to avoid this situation. I also apologize about the mess. This was a very dirty job and we did our best to clean up when we were done. I must say that we hand washed the floor with a rag and followed up with a mop. The B rating for quality must be due to the clean up, because they were "very satisfied with the quality of work." I will take this review seriously and will do better with taking care of the floors and with the clean up.
It was a complete success. We are thrilled not only with the beautiful new look of our home, but our experience with Barry and his team as well. Barry is tuly a different breed of contractor. He was highly communictive and responsive. He was good to his word on everything he told us, from price, to start date, to daily completion targets. We were impressed that he was exceedingly aware of the displacement a large job can cause, and mindful to minimize disruption in our home. The job lasted a little more than a week. He and his team arrived promptly each morning as we were leaving for work, and had all of their work materials neatly stored by the time we returned. Barry designed the job on a rolling floor-to-floor basis so that on any given night we would be able to relax in areas of our home that would be unaffected. He even went out of his way to complete our son's room in a single day so as not to put him out of his bed for even a night. Barry also surrounds himself with a team that shares his best traits -- they are polite, courteous and prompt and approach their craft as artists and professionals. Most importantly, they treat your home like your home, not their workplace. All of the foregoing describe the professionalism and other wonderful personal qualities of Barry and his team. We are happy to add that the quality of the work matches the quality of the person. Our walls were in bad shape. We have a nearly 100 year house that had been renovated by a prior owner about eight years ago. The original plaster had a lot of cracks and worn areas, and the dry wall in the addition had settlement cracks and areas of water damage. They are now clean, smooth and seamless, and the paint makes them look brand new. The painting itself also had some intricacies, as it included a fair amount of small brush work -- white-on-color contrast of millwork -- and it came out beautifully. With each passing day, you could see the transformation. As the job progressed, we got into a daily routine of reviewing what had been done the day before and what was on the agenda for today. He was highly responsive and receptive to last minute changes, touch ups and follow up requests, and always quick (same day) to complete them. So from every perspective -- quality of the work, professionalism and day to day interaction -- it was a job that we are completely thrilled with. We would recommend Barry without hesitation.
