It was a pleasure having Montco Rooter do this work for us. They responded very promptly to our initial phone can, even though it was on a Sunday. We received a call from the plumber who arrived within 2 hours as promised. We are very pleased with all of the interactions and work that we had done.

It went better then expected. I did not know anyone in the area and I was nervous about hiring someone. The owner was very nice when we talked. The plumber was very professional and prompt. He knew exactly what he was doing and he explained everything to me. It was a very dirty job and he did not mind one bit. He was fast and proficient. Someone from the company, I believe it was the owner, even called me after all the work was completed. Excellent service!

Wanted leaking valves to be replaced . They were replaced with ball valves witch my wife and I are happy with. Lew did not want to replace two valves that I wanted replaced and he said that that this was not included in the original price. He used plastic line with plastic to copper pipe connectors along with the ball valve. He only sweated two ball valves in a tight spot which was a great job. Toilet was fixed but had to come back cause it still leaked.I bought a new handle for $20. instead of on that did not match or cost 198.per plumber price. Water hammer parts on washer were installed along with new hoses. Ok for that job. I did not want the membership, but negotiated it away but still the job was very expensive. I told him that I don't want his stuff to leak .gave a year warranty. On average he did not keep his covid distance and overall it was about $300 per hour labor. If his work does not leak, that's what I want. Can't use them again.

Total SCAM Artists! I am a single Mom on a fixed income and this company TOTALLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME! When the technician, Louis finished the 20 minutes of “work” he demanded payment on the spot of $480 to replace one hose and 6 inches of pipe in 20 minutes and the next day I had no hot water, so he didn’t even solve the problem. HE ASKED ME IF I WAS MARRIED, HAD A BOYFRIEND, CHILDREN OR IF MY BROTHER LIVED NEARBY. He is an arrogant con man that seeks victims in stressful situations by using high pressure, scaring sales tactics. He told me I was in an emergency situation and that my water heater could explode like a rocket and that my basement would flood if I didn’t get service immediately. He told me if he left without doing the “work”, I would owe him at least $150 for his time spent there on the service call which was spent telling me lies to scare me into signing an iPad Mini to do what I thought was emergency service work in my home. I wish I could give ZERO STARS! Do your research. Don't make my mistake. I have reported them to the BBB and to local news media for their scams. I found MONTCO Rooter Plumbing in a google search which sounds like the well-known Mr. Rooter Plumbing with high reviews. I later learned that the technician, Louis and “Manager” Mike are actually from the company M.T.C.H. in Norristown as stated on my invoice. They are now advertising under the name MONTCO Rooter because Mr. Rooter has sued MTCH for using their brand illegally. View the legal document here. LINK I called for service because I had no water pressure and noticed some water on top of my brand-new hot water heater which was installed 2 days ago by my brother who had installed my Mom’s hot water heater in the same development successfully. I didn’t call my brother for help because I assumed he was busy getting ready to enter into the Police Academy and had already helped me by installing it for free on his day off. Mike answered and said that Louis the plumber was in route. When Louis arrived he glanced at my new hot water heater and told me it was totally defected without even trying to fix it. I had the manual open with alert codes ready for him but he refused to read it and kept interrupting me. He told me I need a new hot water heater and to return it to Home Depot. I told him no and that I want him to fix the leak. He said he can’t fix a totally defected water heater and that it would cost me $800 to re-install the new one. He said I must pay a $99 membership fee to lock in that amazing price. He took almost one hour to do a hard sales tactic on the installation and called his boss, Mike. What kind of a professional service company asks a woman if she's MARRIED, HAS A BOYFRIEND, CHILDREN OR IF HER BROTHER LIVES NEARBY? I felt so uncomfortable after that. I told him I can't return my new tank because it's under warranty and that I will instead call the manufacturer. After he heard that he said "well there's more than one way to skin a cat" and he detached an automatic shutoff switch and told me he would fix the leak. He didn't give me that option before because he wanted me to pay $800 plus $99 membership to re-install a new hot water heater that had nothing wrong with it. When he realized I wouldn't do that he said if I pay the $99 membership fee he will give me an amazing price of $350, plus parts to fix my leak. He said it was an emergency! I was stressed, scared and worried. After his 20 minutes of “work”, the water pressure returned but it still didn't get up to temperature. He said it takes time to heat up. The next day I only had cold water!!! He made me fill out a review sheet on him and stood over me as I filled it out. I told him I was not comfortable doing that but he demanded I do it anyway. He reviewed it and commented on the low scores I gave him and told me to change the scores. I crossed them out and changed them to higher scores in order to keep him calm so he would leave and we would be safe. My children had just gotten home from school. He also said the F word in front of my son. The next day I called the manufacturer (should have done that in first place) and he walked me through how to fix it in 20 minutes. Everything works now and I have hot water. I called MTCH the next day to express my concerns and negotiate some type of refund. Mike wouldn't work with me at all. He also refused to give me their plumbing license number. He said they charged me a flat rate for their service. When I asked which company they truly are (MTCH or MONTCO Rooter), he said he had to call his manager and put me on hold. I hung up because at that point I realized I was SCAMMED!

Terrible... BEWARE... SCAM ARTISTS DO NOT HIRE... be prepared to hear "the price is the price, these are our prices." 200$ for auger, 595$ for a machine auger after he pulled my toilet, "but I'm lucky they said they didn't charge me the additional 200$" Technician gauranteed that this machine auger would fix issue... it did not, he told me it turns out i just need a new toilet. BUT I STILL OWE THEM 595$ Toilet flushes as slowly now as it did before they came. I called and tried to work this out with them and their solution was that they would install a toilet for 400$ if I purchase it myself first.....Their plumbing competitors install toilets for 100$ SCAM ARTISTS..... BEWARE DO NOT GET INVOLVED!

If you need some plumbing work done - I would not recommend these guys. They are very expensive and recommended services that I did not need. I submitted a request on Angie's List to have someone come and look at my bathtub drain which was draining very slow. Mike (owner) from Montco Rooter gave a call right away (I appreciated the responsiveness). On Saturday morning Bob the plumber showed up from MTCH Plumbing Service Experts (Not Montco Rooter) He explained they were the same company (was acquired by Montco) - Fair enough. Without looking at my issue - Bob recommends the whole house "special" where he would clean and snake all the drains cause that will fix my bathtub draining issue. As I do not know much about plumbing - I give him the go ahead - He snakes the main sewer line and when he tried to snake the bathtub line, he realized that there's an issue with the tub waste & overflow and as such he is unable to snake that line. At this point I'm thinking that, that was probably the main issue and that all I needed to do was replace the waste & overflow. I was extremely annoyed at this point, because if you send out a plumber, then surely you'd want to diagnose what the issue is before you start selling services! Anyways, Bob continues to snake some other lines and they are mostly clean. I have now spend $1,336.67 and my problem is still not fixed. They said another plumber would have to come the next day to fix the tub waste & overflow for an obscene amount of money (which l was able to negotiate down to $400 granted I buy the parts myself). The next day Mike the plumber (not the owner) shows up fix the waste and overflow, snakes the line and my problem is fixed. In all honesty I would not use them again nor recommend these guys based on the fact that had they diagnosed and fixed my main issue I would have saved a lot of money. So shop around before calling them.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I had the absolute worst experience I have ever had w/any home improvement I’ve ever had done. I called Mr. Rooter 1st thing on a Friday morning, after noticing water coming out from my hot water tank. They were able to send a technician the same day. When the technician, Scott, arrived, he was noticeably anxious & displayed behaviors, such as humming the same one line of a specific song over & over again for hours on end, profuse sweating from head to toe (despite it being mid-December), constant jaw clenching & throat clearing, etc. He surveyed the hot water heater & after a short time, determined that there was s leak in the tank & that it would need to be replaced entirely. Based on the behaviors he displayed & the short time it took him to diagnose the issue, I wasn’t completely confident in his assessment. He recommended a completely different replacement hot water heater, one that was at least 2 feet taller than the existing one, which would require significant alterations to the existing copper pipping, etc. He left to write up a quote in his truck, and remained there for 1.5 hours. Once he returned to my home, we discussed the quote & based on his recommendation, we agreed upon a new, much larger tank. He started draining my existing tank w/a motorized pump and after removing about 5 gallons of water from a 40 gallon tank, he asked me if i could keep an eye/ear in the motor while he left to pick up the new tank, which was located at a Lowe’s about 15 mins from my home. I did not feel comfortable agreeing to that, so he turned the pump off & left to pick up the new tank. 3 hours later, he was still gone picking up the new tank, so I called him, asking when I could expect him back. After 5+ hours of working w/this Scott, the job was nowhere close to complete. I still had a broken tank that needed to be fully drained, detached from all existing piping, removed from my home,and the new tank installed. When he finally returned, his suspicions behaviors were intensified, he was sweating more profusely, he was now twitching & bumping into walls, and looked like he had scratches all over his face & neck. I called the manager, Mike, and expressed to him that the Scott’s behavior was making me very uncomfortable, that he was nowhere near finished w/the job, & that i wanted him out of my house or i would call the police. Mike’s “solution” was to call Scott to ask if he needed any assistance. This only further agitated Scott, so he acted rushed & told me several times that he had another job he needed to get to. At this point, it was getting dark & I asked him not to rush. He then began berating his boss & the company. He hastily removed the old tank & brought the new one inside. At some point during this process, he nicked my wall, creating a hole, hit my cars side mirror, & made 3 huge gashes in my the side of my car, none of which I noticed until the following day. After bringing the new tank in, I spoke Mike, again & told him again that I wanted him out of my house. I told the technician, Scott, that I had a family emergency, & forced him out of my home, mid-job. I called Mike once again to tell him and he said he would be sending a senior technician, Lou, over. Lou’s arrived around 9:00pm....9 hours after the first technician initially arrived. Lou surveyed the work that Scott has done & was in shock. He completely disagreed w/Scott’s recommendations & the pipe work that had been done by him. He spoke to the manager, Mike, and from what I heard from Lou’s end of the conversation, it was a complete notch job. Lou told me he would return first thing the next morning to complete an additional 3-4 hours of work....leaving me without any running water for 24 hours. Lou returned the next day, as promised & completed the job, which as he explained, took about 4 more hours & he charged me the originally agreed upon amount of $1,500!!! He handed me a card that stated if I give Mr. Rooter a 5-star review, I’d win a $100 gift card, as a consolation. I can’t, in good conscious lie online & hive such a review, even for the measly $100 they “offered”. This company should be ashamed of even asking me to do so, but more importantly, should have done everything in their power to make things right. I felt so unsafe w/Scott in my house, who I can only assume was on some kind of drugs, & even after telling the manager that i was hiding in my closet, about to call the police, all he did to “make things right” was send over a competent technician & a measly $100 gift card. This company put me through ****, damaged personal property, & still charged me the full amount for the “job” & “labor”.
