The move appeared on the surface to go ok until i noticed that There were no lamps moved, when questioned they said they forgot them. Oops. I went to the apartment the next day and They forgot a lot of stuff. It took me 5 hours to move the rest of my stuff. They piled boxes in my garage from floor to ceiling, and that is what makes the rest of my story. It took me a month to unpack the house and start on the garage, After getting most of the garage unpacked I noticed that my stereo speakers were missing. This particular set was very expensive about $1500.00 worth of speakers. Nothing else was stolen that i can see now but it certainly makes it suspect. I did not purchase any insurance on my move, because we are talking 2 miles. I did not know that I needed the insurance to cover the theft by the movers that i hired. I then called them up, They sent me a claim form, which i have not filled out as yet because they are telling me they will pay 60 cents a pound for the claim. I went down and filed a police report. Will have to see if the police will take care of this. Not the kind of experience that i would expect from a reputable Company.

When we were contacted to move this member, our salesman gave him an itemized estimate for his move which listed what was to be included in the move. This estimate included limited packing by our crew, and per the salesman's notes, some itmes were to be moved by the shipper, this member. Normally, high ticket items such as stereo equipment are listed. On the estimate a TV was listed along with a piano, grandfather clock etc. I have talked to the crew on this move and none of the men remembered seeing stereo speakers or packing them. Hence, I must assume they were packed by the shipper. In regards to the purchasing of insurance, the shipper is given a release form with the various kinds if insurance available for purchase. This is an option and is recommended for moves of any distnace due to the fact that things do go wrong. For example, if the truck had been involved in an accident, and had been destroyed with all the contents, legally, we would only be liable for the 60 cents per pound, as nothing else was purchased. This member says that his garage was "piled floor to ceiling with boxes." When we deliver someone to their address, we look for direction as to where to place items that are being unloaded. If the boxes were placed in the garage, it was because that is where the crew was told to put them. Before we leave the address of origin, the driver in charge always double checks with the shipper to be sure that everything that they want moved is on the truck, so anything left at origin has been seen by the shipper and the shipper had told us they don't want it moved. In closing, we have made hundreds of moves every year with hospitals, banks, children's homes, lawyers, the military and the list goes on. This member stated that he has filed a report with the local police dept.We will fully cooperate with any investigation that they proceed with.
