He called the day before hand and told me he would be at my home between 12-2. He showed up at 11:30, w/o a phone call and proceeded to ring the door bell while I was in the shower which caused my dog to stand at the front door and bark until I came downstairs. The man walked into my house, measured the window horizontally and vertically, and he was done. Was literally in my house for under 2 minutes. Then, he proceeded to tell me it was $120.00 for the "service call". The service ticket reads that the est. hours was an hour service and the travel time is .50 hour. I live less than 10 minutes from the facility and he was here less than 2 minutes. I had to call again a few days later to see what needed to be done and how much that was going to cost me. I left a message 2 days later and got into an exchanging of words with the "person", (insert curse word here), in "customer service". She proceeded to tell me how much more it would cost to come in and fix it and I would be given another service charge of a 1/2 price $60 for them to come back out. I called the corporate office and was told there was nothing that could be done because the division was independently owned. It is a shame that people get away with highway robbery, with the very little service, if any that was done. Believe me, I have the money to fix the window, but it's the matter of customer service or total lack of it that really gets to me. I will not be replacing the sash through Pella windows and will never be calling them again for anything. I would rather replace every window in my home through another company than to give another penny to those thieves.
Description of Work: We have a sash that fell of of an exterior window and has dry rotting wood underneath that is now exposed and unsightly from the outside of the house. The "service provider" was ordered to come to the house to observe the problem and give a solution.

In brief, to replace the windows in 17 openings, including three double (mulled) units and one bay window, plus a sliding door and two sidelights, using Pella Designer Series (750), specified identically: * $21,500 for windows and door only, no installation, from Lowe's * $28,000 from Window Installation Specialists, fully installed but not stained. * $51,000 from the Pella Store, fully installed and stained. I also have quotes for other national window brands, with integrated blinds. No other quote was over $30,000 installed. I'm not making that last number up, and I'm pretty sure I can stain my own windows for less than $23,000. In fact, I think I can exhume and reanimate Michelangelo and have him stain my windows for that amount of money. When confronted with the WIS quote, the sales person said "I didn't know they could get the windows that cheap." I wouldn't normally give a vendor an 'F' without them performing work, but the price disparity here is extraordinary. The sales person was perfectly responsive and punctual, but it's hard to call their pricing practices professional. Caveat Emptor. Get three quotes. Always.
Description of Work: They provided an estimate only. I did not use them because of the overwhelming disparity in price between their quotes and other quotes for the exact same windows.

I wasn’t satisfied with the installer but after that, I called the manager where I purchased them from and they have what they call a recovery man. He comes and redoes the installer’s flaws or mistakes and I’ve been very satisfied with the recovery man but I didn’t really like the installer who put them in. I wasn’t satisfied with his work. There was something with each window either inside or outside. I was totally disgusted with the installer but the guy that came to do the flaws, he is a very qualified person. I really like his work that he did for me to try to rectify what the installer did or didn’t do. I didn’t get too many prices but I would say their price is fair.

PELLA sent me a couple of tea bags and a letter instructing me to relax because they will take care of my window project. Tony Magneli contacted me and arrived as scheduled on June 27, 2013. I removed the inside molding so that he could measure the existing spring line window and rough opening. His PELLA web site could not give him price information on the outside brick molding but Tony assured me that he could have the price in a day. We never heard anything from Tony. We stopped by the Pella showroom on Washington Road, Cannonsburg but he was on the road. I texted and called Tony a few times but no response. These people are rude and I will get my window project done by someone else. Don't call them unless you are hard up for tea bags.

Our experience [my husband and I] was great: sales person was able to do estimate when it was convenient to us (after his business ours), we really appreciate it. All process was very efficient, w/o any snags. After installation, the crew cleaned up, They asked me if they cleaned well. I thought, it was cute; they did clean well. Most importantly, the new windows made a big difference in the room temperature; we both are very happy. Price was high, but it was fair for the quality we got.

There were some problems, but Pella and the manager addressed the immediately and steps were taken to correct the problem. When the front entry door came, the glass was edged in silver instead of the brass I chose, and the three point locking system was not installed. They had to order another door, which took an additional 4 weeks, which I was not happy about, but when the door came, it was gorgeous. The back door was not drilled for a dead bolt lock, but the installer was able to fix that right away. I'm now having a problem with my front storm door; the sun shines on it all day, and it is not closing properly. This does not happen in the winter when it is cold. They have ordered a certain type of metal so they can move the door over. This should be fixed when I get my new patio door. I have a lot of faith in them and love their products, so I ordered a new patio door, which will be installed on July 30th. I am having the same installers put in the patio door, as they did an awesome job! My salesman for both my order last September and this month for my patio door is Tony Magnelli. He is knowledgeable, takes his time, and explains everything very thoroughly and answered all my questions. The manager Dave DeSimone, came out immediately and inspected the storm door, and was apologetic and helpful in getting this problem resolved. And last but not least, my installers, Phil and John were the best! Very meticulous in their work, and did a wonderful job! Cleaned up everything and vacuumed inside and out. I have requested them to install my patio door this month. Although I did have some problems, they were not neglected, and the team worked on them right away. Pella is a good company, and I am satisfied with the windows, and all the people that were involved!
Description of Work: replaced 8 windows, which included a triple window, all windows Low E gas, Argon Gas. Had beautiful front entry door installed with cut glass and design, square style, triple lock system, and full front storm door with lock and full screen. Both front doors have brass handles, and entry door has dead bolt lock. Back door has dead bolt lock, white on inside to match room, and brown on outside to match trim on house. Back screen door has roll away screen. My neighbors keep commenting on how beautiful the windows and doors look! Does add beauty and comfort to my home. My gas bills were cut by almost 50% over the winter, and so far with my air conditioner running constantly at 74, my highest electric bill has been $117.00. I do have a full finished game room.

PELLA Windows was an excellent service and an excellent quality. They are highly professional, really know what they are talking about, prompt, responsive, high quality work, and they clean up after themselves. We will use them again in the future. The price is a little bit high, but it is really high quality. I would give them an A for everything, except for price.

The reason we went with them because the house we bought already has all Pella Windows on it. They offered enclose mini blinds and it is in between the two panes. Since, the house already had mini blinds; we wanted to continue on with that brand or that style. They had annual sale, so that was one of the attractive other features that the windows were 60% off because that was probably the main reason that we went with them. We had two workers that came out to do the work.

The contractor from Pella arrived on time on the scheduled day ready to go to work. We were told previously that it will take at least two days to complete the installation of both doors and both screen doors. The contractor worked on our back door first--this door was the harder of the two as it had to be custom made and fit for size for both the door and the screen door. Both of these doors were cut and installed perfectly. Our front door was next to be installed. Upon loading the front door off the truck and into the house, the contractor noticed that our front door was damaged. Rather than install this damaged front screen door, the Pella installer took it upon himself to tell me about it and that he knows I would not be satisfied, of course not, with a damaged front screen door. The installer finished with installing just the front door. Unfortunately, we had to wait a few weeks for the screen door to come in although I really appreciated him putting himself in my shoes knowing that I would not want a damaged front screen door! After several weeks, our new front screen door is ready to be installed. This time we had a different installer who arrived almost an hour after the designated window period...beginning to think he wasn't coming at all. My father in law was at our home during this installation as we could not take off from work another day. When my husband and I arrived home later that day, we realized the screen door was not aligned properly upon closing the door and the latch mechanism was not properly installed causing it to scratch when the door was closed. I contacted Pella several times and after leaving several messages, my call was returned and I was told someone would be in my area and would look at the door. At this point, my husband and I had to travel so we were not home after a Pella rep looked at our door. We waited for some type of message but received none. Again, I called to have someone come to my house to explain why the door still does not appear to be closing properly. At this time, when I talked with Pella I asked if the installer of my front screen door was the same as my back door. Unfortunately, it was not. It now seemed to me that since I only needed the one door installed, an "apprentice" installer was sent to my home to finish the job. Finally, on November 10th Pella made a visit to our home and satisfactorily explained the installation of our front screen door to my husband. From this experience, I would demand an experienced door installer. Not that I would have minded an apprentice coming along, in our situation it resulted in poor workmanship, delay and customer frustration. The quality of both doors and both screen doors is wonderful, along with the door knobs.
Description of Work: Contracted with Pella to order and install two doors and two screen doors that we selected from the Pella brochure through the salesman that came to our home. The doors were a bit pricey but we had ordered a patio door and screen years ago through Pella that they installed and we were very satisfied with that purchase and installation. The salesman that came to our house was very professional and spent time explaining different options with the doors and also the door knobs. We felt very good and confident with our selection. Our doors were ordered and came in within the estimated time frame and an installation date was set up.

When I called to check with them about my order there was no record of my order. They would not admit that they never placed the order and said they would call me back. Two days went by and they never called me back and so I called and spoke to their regional manager. He said he would get right on it and the order arrived two days later but it was the wrong size and it did not fit. I called the regional manager back and he tried to tell me it was not their fault. When I showed him my credit card bill where the charge had been applied which had not been applied till my second call to them. They finally admitted that they made a mistake and he came to the house and I gave him the actual size I wanted. In order to make me happy and since he knew my whole house was made up of glasses and I would need to change them some day he gave it to me for free. They are a really good company and I would recommend them. Half the time their work depends on the type of idiot high school students they hire for the summer. The product is very nice but the people need to be fired. I would not use them again in the future.

Company was called and told that the problem to the Pella sliding door was (as stated on invoice): " sgd vent panel comes off track, fix if possibl, , also problem with handles, reinstall ...." Though serviceman was very amiable and polite, he did nothing to allevite the problem saying that he didn't have the screws to fix the older model Pella slider. With the exception of sharing his knowledge on what type of brand new model to purchase if we decided to some day buy a new one, he did nothing to repair the door from coming off track or install the old handle back on, which is all we intended to accomplish when we called for service. FOLLOW UP: Serviceman returned and helped alleviate the problem with the slider. Though it still does not work well, it does work; and though we paid $350, the $120 cost of the first service call was deducted from the bill. For these reasons, I felt they deserved an upgraded score.
Description of Work: Problem with slider was helped, though it is not always working well.

There is a lot they could have done better. The fact they had to service brand new windows that cost that much is ridiculous. I had to wait every time they were going to fix them. One of the blinds is still not fuctioning the way we'd like but we are sick of dealing with them. I've dealt with them in the past and had really good experience, I don't know what's happened with the quality of product. If this had happened the first time I wouldn't have used them again.

The salesman arrived as scheduled. He measured and provided a quote which was several thousand dollars higher than the window installation company. When I told him that, he offered to reduce his price by a thousand dollars but I told him his price was still thousands of dollars higher. He then told me that 'nobody selling windows out of the back of a pickup truck' would do the installation as well as a Pella certified installer. I didn't bother to tell him that the installer he was competing with was a Pella certified installer. I appreciated the information provided by the Pella salesman, but his price was just out of line.
Description of Work: I had received a quote on installing 8 Pella fiberglass windows in my home from a window installation company. They recommended that I go to the Pella showroom to view the window. The salesman there showed me the window and discussed its features. He also told me that no window installer could match Pella and requested that I let him come to my house and provide a quote.
