The job was supposed to be done in 2 weeks; it ended up taking 5 weeks. The permits took almost 4 days, but the rest of the job was unbelievably slow. I was told that Mike had 4 workers. An older and younger son. An employee that was with him for "a lot of years" and his son's friend that just recently started. Well it seemed that I got his younger son and his friend; not bad workers, but the both were young and not as much experience as I was lead to believe. They would start around 8:30 and end at 3:00. I needed to constantly watch the work they did for things not being done that were discussed with Mike. It seemed that Mike never relayed any of our talks with the ones actually doing the work. The so called foreman on the job was also the electrician, who would come if he had work also to do. If I needed to have something done according to the specs given to Mike I would get an attitude from the electrician or from his son. The lack of communication was definitely a major issue.
Description of Work: The basement was finished when we purchased the house, but it was done by a do-it-yourself person, no permits, and no experience. It needed to be totally remodeled. Mike Taratuski and I walked through the whole area and discussed what I had wanted the end product to look like. His workers did the demolition. I was advised that it would be better to use their plumber and electrician for ease of scheduling. After it was all gutted, I was told that it would be a good idea to put down a leveling cement because the floor in the living room area was uneven. For an additional cost of $1634.00 and $350.00 for the laundry room area. It was agreed for that cost. The electrician rewired 38 junction boxes that were found in the ceiling, to bring it to code, as we were having a drywall ceiling installed. The plumber added and moved pipes as needed so that no water issues would arise once the construction was completed. Another sub contractor did the drywall finishing. Tarry's worker did the rest.
