Fred Cramer - HVAC Gold Certified

I'm very particular and Fred did a wonderful job taking care of my home. I would highly recommend Fred and will call him again in the future when I need heating/AC service.

He arrived on time, did the job in a friendly, professional manner, cleaned up, and left.

Fred was the only one of 3 estimators who suggested retrofitting my furnace using a conversion gas burner (so that I did not have to replace the boiler)--saving me alot of money. I researched this on the web and decided this was a satisfactory way to go. I asked many questions and checked out the things I read on the web. He removed the oli burner and supplied and installed: the gas burner, the pipe and manifold from gas meter into house, the gas log set with remote control, pipe and fittings for the burner and log set, wiring, draft hood for pipe. Fred was prompt returning calls, called when he would be a few minutes late, welcomed my input and questions, was knowledgeable and experienced, was professional and courteous, and cleaned up perfectly,

Very smoothly. He was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Explained why extra supplies were needed; prices for both service and supplies were reasonable.

No problems with the service-it was for basic maintenance. He contacted me by phone and email to confirm the appointment.

I redeemed the Angie's List coupon for $69 A/C tune up for my central air unit. This is a very good price for this service. My system required 2 lbs. of Freon which had not been serviced for at least 5 years. Mr. Cramer was delayed and called to let me know of the delay, this accounts for the ding in "Punctuality" I found Mr. Cramer to be friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, professional.

I purchased this service for $59, but ended up getting charged $189, which came as a surprise. I expected the service to be complete for the purchase price. No additional parts were supplied. I expected to pay extra for a new filter, but he didn't have one. I ended up getting and installing it myself. When I tried to pay the bill I couldn't find any street address on their invoice or business card, so I sent it to the town indicated. Of course it came back. I guess the postman doesn't know Fred. Several calls to the office were required before I could get a mailing address. Not very smart or professional to omit your address from your business documents. Overall, the work was satisfactory, but the extra charges, the omitted filter and payment hassles were a bother. Not convinced this was a good deal.

Mr. Cramer was proactive and contacted me to follow-up on my Big Deal purchase. He performed service on my furnace and also offered the same deal for my air conditioning unit. We scheduled a time, and Mr. Cramer arrived promptly and performed the service. He made some recommendations and thoroughly explained the reasons for them. We scheduled a second time for him to perform his recommendations. Again, he arrived promptly and worked quickly. He cleaned up the area after he was done. I was very pleased with his work and have asked him to put me on his annual service call list as I will be using him again next year.

All went as planned. I will use him again to do my Heating inspection before the winter.

We saw the special offer on Angie's list for a heating system checkup and phoned to set an appointment. Fred Cramer returned our call within 2 hours and scheduled the appointment for the following business day. He was prompt, thorough, and knowledgable. He performed all of the items on the advertisement for service and we are very pleased. When the time comes for the air conditioning, we will certainly schedule with him again.

On Sunday 7/15/12 we noticed that the coolant line from the heat pump to the house was freezing up during a very hot humid period. We tried turning off the A/C to let the line thaw. When we turned A/C back on, it froze up again. Called Fred Monday afternoon, mostly to ask what might be the problem and ask his advice (he had done routine service in the fall with an Angie's List special offer). He came out to our house that evening and replaced a faulty relay and added coolant. He did not even charge us for a service call!

I purchased Fred's A/C service special. While setting the appointment over the phone I explained to him that I would also like to have him look at my duct-work to see if it could be better balanced. Fred arrived at the scheduled time and was very friendly. He immediately went to the furnace to start his service but also asked me to see where my supply and return problems might be. He quickly assessed a few simple solutions and also made some sensible recommendations. In addition, he also looked at my UV light which was not working properly. His interests are obviously trying to help the customer all with a friendly demeanor. After his service he took my email information to send me a few proposals to help my house heat and cool in a much more balanced a comfortable way. By the way, my system is only four years old. I had the entire house gutted and all new duct-work installed. As you can guess the work by the contractor was done very poorly. Soon after I joined Angie's List. Finding someone like Fred is exactly the reason I joined!

Fred happened to be running late due to an issue with a previous client. Fred called several times to keep us posted on his arrival time. He was efficient, informative, and courteous. We look forward to having him back to clean our furnace in the fall!!

Fred was punctual, courteous, and reliable. He did everything he promised to do and even drained my old heating system of water even though that was not part of the estimate. The job took about two days because the water heater is located at the opposite side of where the gas line comes into the house. The vent into the chimney for the water heater was also replaced. Fred spent the first day on the hot water heater replacement and the second day on putting in the new gas furnace. After everything was done he cleaned up and tested the new units. He finally educated me about my new systems and answered any questions. I would recommend Fred to anybody!

It took a little while for him to get back in touch with us, but he was punctual, professional, and thorough. Overall, a very good experience.

He contacted us on the weekend and scheduled a few weeks out. Came on time and did work quickly and professionally.

It went great. He replaced my thermostat and set it up for me. He was very nice and I will be calling him again in the future when my furnace needs to be rechecked.

He did a nice job. I have him coming out on Friday because my A/C is having problems again.

Fred is very nice man but he is no diagnostician. My air conditioner stopped working over Memorial Day weekend and I called him to see if he would come out. I had previously bought a coupon for cleaning on here. He said he would be glad to come over which I was grateful for given that it was a holiday weekend. He immediately said my refrigerant was low only to discover some period after that the compressor was kicking off and leaving only the fan to run ( which is what I had explained on the phone). He said that my compressor was bad (this is a 3 year old unit), so the part was under warranty. He offered to call the manufacturer the first business day after and install the compressor. The manufacturer confirmed the part was under warranty but told him he would not be able to install as he is not a certified reseller. I called another company ( who does sell the brand) and they immediately said that didn't sound correct, came and did multiple tests and found the problem which was not the compressor but a much less expensive valve. If I had paid for the labor to have a new compressor installed only to find that didn't solve the problem - and it wouldn't have - I would have thrown a fit. So while I appreciated his willingness to come when he did ( charging a service fee plus the cleaning fee already bought) this could have cost me serious money -not that I was happy having to do any repairs on a 3 year old unit. I'm sorry to say that I am not able to recommend him.

Service was scheduled 5/9/12, to be performed 6/11/12. Fred arrived within minutes of the scheduled appointment time, and proceeded to remove inside ac covers and do his check-out routine in a very professional manner, even installing a clean filter which I had available. After replacing all covers, etc., and cleaning his work area, he then went outside and performed checks on the compressor unit, which included the use of a solution to clean it. He advised that he had found and repaired a small leak, recommended the addition of coolant (said 1 lb. should be sufficient), and quoted me the coolant cost at that time. I accepted his recommendation, he added the coolant, restored the area to its previous condition, and advised me he was done. He presented documentation of his work with details of the charges (including prepaid amount and the coolant charge), and I gave him a check for the balance.

Mr. Cramer did an excellent job on tuning up my system, and he even went above and beyond to help me fine tune my system so that it would cool most effectively. He took the time to show me exactly how my system works. I really appreciate the above-and-beyond service this business provides. Highly recommended!
