At this point, very bad experience. The blocks were falling down making the steps dangerous. While he was doing it I wanted him to build a rim about two feet higher at one point. I don't think his material costs were more than $300 because he reused all the blocks that were there. He only had to buy a couple bags of decorative stone and the railing, and what ever cement he needed to install the railing, so I doubt it was more than $300 for the material. He charged me $2300. It took him two days. I felt that was a gross over charge. The quality so far has been fine.

Actually the material cost $500 and the job took three days, if you didn't like the price you should have never accepted the job.

We've probably had over a dozen contractors and service providers complete work on our house over the past year and Chris was by far the best! Super professional. He was quick to respond and provide an estimate. He was easy to schedule, punctual, and polite. The price was fair and his work looks fantastic. He clearly takes pride in his work.

Outstanding. Mr Basile is very professional and hardworking. His work is very high quality. He is the kind of contractor that every homeowner hopes to have working at their home. His prices are reasonable, and when extra work was added outside of the initial estimate, the prices remained reasonable.
Description of Work: Reset (dry set) stones of primary patio. Used matching stones from adjacent smaller patio to fill in dirt patches which had allowed water into basement. Used new stones for secondary patio. Poured concrete and set flagstones adjacent to basement where water had penetrated. No more water observed in basement. Repaired/replaced capstones, stairs, and bricks where needed.

Great! Chris is polite, punctual and does meticulous work. The stucco on our 40 year old home looks perfect now. It was crumbling in a few areas. He removed it, wired the wall and re-stuccoed. This is the correct way to repair it - not by simply removing old stucco and applying new plaster on top of damaged area. He does quality work. We will hire him again to redo our front walkway.

We cleaned out our garage and discovered that two of the three walls in our below-grade garage were shedding mortar and needed repair. Chris gave us an estimate within 24 hours of our request and was great about performing the repairs. He parged the walls, applied a coat of mortar-like stucco, and then sealed the walls with waterproofer. He even caulked some exterior areas to prevent additional water penetration and diligently handled working around our huge garage shelves. In short, he's our go-to guy for masonry and stone work for our house. We plan on working with him again.

Everything about our experience with Chris was excellent - from completing the estimate to performing the work, and leaving the job site clean and tidy. We had a long flagstone walkway that had suffered from freeze/thaw cycles over the past few winters, and the entire walkway needed repairs. Chris lifted and cleaned every stone, put down fresh mortar, reset ever stone and pointed the walk. He also repaired pointing on our brick chimney and repaired two bluestone window sills. The entire job took about 7 days, slightly longer than planned due to a day of thunderstorms in the middle of the job. Chris let us know when he would arrive each day, kept us apprised of progress, reviewed the work with us, and left the job site clean every day. His workmanship is meticulous and the walkway looks brand new. A couple of neighbors have actually asked us if we installed a new walk. We were very pleased with Chris' work and plan on hiring him again to repair our patio and another flagstone walkway.

Chris was great to work with from start to finish. He was responsive: he couldn't start right away because of the weather, but he didn't forget about us, and let us know when he could do the work. He worked quickly, neatly, and professionally. The quality of his work is excellent. He's a nice guy, too--no attitude, no condescension. I had contacted several other masonry outfits for this work, and kept being told that my job was too small for them, or they could only do it if there was another job in the area (to make it worth their while). This didn't seem to be an issue for Chris, and he did a great job, to boot. Thanks, Chris.

Chris did a beautiful job with everything. It's stunning. He's very exacting, has extremely high standards, uses high quality products and I simply could not be happier. At least one of my neighbors who saw the completed work at my house has also hired him. His prices are excellent, he's punctual and he cleans up the worksite every day. I definitely plan on hiring him next year for some additional work that I postponed on my patio. Very happy.

Chris did an excellent job. I would recommend him to my neighbors and will use him again for masonry work at our home. Chris responded quickly to my call and came out to our home, surveyed the job, and provided a very reasonable estimate promptly. One call is all that it took. He put us on his schedule and called at about the time he thought he could get to the job to say that he was coming. In two days, he removed the slate, fixed and leveled the pad, replaced the broken slates, and reset the walkway and repointed all of the mortar joints. He was neat, professional, cleaned up the jobsite, and created a new walkway that is better than new. My wife and I are very pleased with the job and I found Chris to be a real professional in the way that he approached the work.
Description of Work: Chris repaired a slate walkway that had been damaged by freeze-frost and been disrupted by plumbing repair work at our home. The job involved lifting a significant number of slates, fixing the pad on which they were laid, and resetting and repointing the mortar joints in the walkway.

Chris was incredibly professional - showed up on time, completed work on timeline provided, left all areas clean. His work is impeccable - he even took the extra step of laying the brick beneath the glass block basement windows to match the exterior window ledges on the first floor of my house. The work performed on our back addition transformed the whole rear of the house - stucco work is impressive. Would definitely recommend.

Chris was extremely responsive and professional when making the arrangements to look at our masonry needs. He was great at communicating expectations as all was transparent in what he needed to do and how much it would cost. I appreciated how he communicated several times to provide a timeline, pending cooperative weather. Also, Chris provided additional support on other projects and was authentic about his limitations for project scope. Lastly, Chris's work was efficient and clearly an area of expertise for him - our chimney looks great! As far as a professional, overall Chris was one of the easiest I've ever worked with and recommend him for your project without reservation.

Removed some old bushes that were probably original to the house and found the house wall under the front bay window was crumbling. Looked pretty bad and asked Chris to come check it out and give an estimate. He said he'd have to take apart any brick that was lose, re-set and repoint everything. Total cost was $1200. Chris kept in touch via email and came out the day he said he'd be there to do the work. Was onsite for about six hours to complete the work. Stopped out to see how Chris was doing and he explained what he was doing and why and how bad things were (Watching him, he was able to just pull bricks right out with no force.) End result looked outstanding and since we were able to reuse all of the existing brick, you'd never know there was a repair completed. Chris came back a few days later once everything was set/dry and re-caulked around the flashing where it meets the brick. He also let me know he tied the brick in to the studs of the house so they'd never be moving again. I would highly recommend Chris. It's nice to find someone that does a great job and is professional!

Chris did a really great job. I asked him to remove my old concrete walkway and get a new one poured. In addition, I asked him to move my raised bed away from the sidewalk before doing the job. It was important to have this work done before May 1st when I start my planting activities. Everything was done better than I expected and on time. He did a beautiful job and even suggested some tweaks that made it look better and more functional. I really appreciated his punctuality. I got many compliments on my new sidewalk from my neighbors who told me that they would love to use Chris in the future if there is a need. I wish I had asked him to do this job sooner.

First, Chris is extremely professional. He sends estimates promptly and does exactly what he says he will do. If he can't come on the planned day (because of the weather) he calls to let you know. I was particularly pleased with the work he did on the chimney. I thought he was just going to patch it but instead he removed and replaced a number of the bricks that were in the worse shape.

Chris responded quickly to my request for quote. I received quotes from several contractors. His was easily the least and, unlike others, he quoted exactly what I wanted. He got the job. He gave me a date and arrived as scheduled and finished within the time that he predicted with minimal involvement by me. I inspected the work once completed and was very pleased. I would use Chris again with no hesitation. HIs work was excellent, his price reasonable, and he was friendly and informative. Good guy!

I'm another customer that asked Chris to do repeat work. Chris is a real professional who took time to understand what was needed, arrived early, completed the work on time, and cleaned up afterwards. Anytime I?ve needed to get in touch with Chris I?ve received a prompt response. I highly recommend Chris and will be looking for his help again in 2016.

This is the second time in a year and a half that I have used Chris for masonry work. Chris is extremely professional, hardworking, and courteous of your home. Previously, we used Chris to point our front porch pillars that had falling mortar and we liked his style so much that we just had to have him back to finish the rest of the house. Watching Chris point the front stone wall and foundation, I can tell he takes his time and does the right job. The finished product looks amazing and the stone and joint style stands out compared to the rest of the neighborhood. So far, we have received many compliments on Chris' work and I hope more of my neighbors can see his work. Also, I had a large crack in my stucco in the back of the house that Chris patched and caulked. You can't even tell there was a large crack there now and I can tell in my crawl space that there are no more openings now. Overall, my wife and I are extremely happy with Chris' work again and our stone pointing looks amazing. Chris was always there to start his work early and got the job done when he said he would. It is difficult to find workers who communicate and respond to emails as quickly as Chris does and it makes the process a lot less stressful. I highly recommend Chris for any masonry restoration projects.
Description of Work: Chris removed all mortar joints, pressure washed and pointed the front stone wall and stone foundation. Chris used a raised ribbon style joint that matches the pillars he worked on previously a year and a half ago. Also, Chris patched and caulked the back addition's stucco to seal out any water infiltration.
