The earliest date that the company could even come out to give an estimate was at least 6 weeks from the date of my call. Remediation would obviously be even beyond that date. The company may be fantastic, but if they are so busy that it takes more than a month to give even an estimate to address toxic mold, I really have no choice but to find another company. I asked if there were any mold remediation companies that they could recommend given that they were unable to provide an estimate for me in a timely manner. The representative said the only companies they could recommend were not in the area because they do not have professional interactions with any of the mold remediation companies that do work in Philadelphia. Fair enough, but concerning since mold tends to be a time-sensitive issue and their business has become so successful that they are significantly backlogged. I rated them as a 'C' because they aren't 'bad' for being successful and unable to give timely estimates, but it isn't good either! I gave them an 'F' for responsiveness because 6 weeks is a long time to wait for an estimate for remediation of a toxic substance and to not have recommendations for other providers who can be more timely. I can't speak to the other categories of evaluation. I have no reason to say I would not use them again, but hopefully I will not have toxic mold anymore!

Thank you for taking the time to review my company and post something that may or may not help other Angie’s List members. I’m sorry that we weren’t able to accommodate you. Please understand that if we had confidence in another company we would be happy to recommend them. Unfortunately, we come across more bad work then good. I have come across good contractors in New York, Connecticut and Ohio, but none locally. I’m lobbying for standards and legislation in our industry as I feel it would only benefit qualified caring contractors like us and help protect you the consumer from the less than qualified contractors that unfortunately continue to operate. We just bought a house in the Art Museum neighborhood, and this is the last thing we expected. The water line leading to the toilet was slowly leaking and created a water bubble above our dining room. Even worse, it was happening over a few weeks and created quite a bit of mold in our ceilings and along our walls. Craig, the owner, came over the day after our call (which I was surprised about, because summer is a busy time for everyone). He came in with a bunch of gadgets and spent about 3 hours going through every single room and explaining what was affected and how to fix it. Craig was extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. He made the process easy. After we get our insurance provider to notify us of coverage, we plan to use Advanced Mold Diagnostics for the clean-up. Go with his company - You won't regret it.

We were purchasing a home that was built in 1986 with a significant amount of stucco. We had researched other homes in the area and discovered a potential for stucco problems. Craig Camel performed the inspection (visual and infrared camera). Craig was excellent. He spent a great deal of time explaining what potential problems could be and how he would go about inspecting the home (inside and out). The inspection was very thorough and lasted well over 3 hours. All the time Craig would describe what he was looking for, how it was good or bad, and what potential outcomes could occur. It became clear as we were conducting the inspection that the stucco was no where close to a standard installation. Craig would point out (in the folder given to us) what the standard was and how this installation was deficient. Based on the inspection and subsequent report we chose not to purchase home. We were very pleased and would work with Craig again in a heartbeat.

Craig's advice and counseling in this matter really helped to educate us and made us feel better about our situation. We thought we had no where to turn for help and then found Advanced Mold Diagnostics. I will use them in the future for any mold related needs. .
Description of Work: I needed advice and information about mold and exposure to a mold impacted work enviromnment after my wife was diagnosed with an allergy and asthma from exposure to mold at her workplace. She had never had symptoms of either ailment in the past, nor did she have any hereditary or respiratory problems that would have caused her condition. A home inspector I had worked with in past real estate transactions had recommended Craig Camel and his team at Advanced Mold Diagnostics because they were experts in the field of indoor air quality and health issues associated with mold exposure.Craig took my call and spent an hour or more on the phone with me, patiently answering my questions and giving opinions and advice. He offered to look at the mold testing results from my wife's workplace and provide information that might help us in our plight with her situation, all this from a man that I had never met or spoken to before. In addition he never asked for one dime in payment for his valuable services. My experience with Craig Camel and Advanced Mold Diagnostics exceeded my expectations. In an age when many companies feel they are doing the customer a favor, it is refreshing to do buisness with one that cares. During our conversation, Craig alluded to a philosophy passed on to him by his grandfather, which was, when you serve the needs of others, your needs will also be met. This was exemplified by his interactions with me and my wife.

Project went smoothly. As stated we had already been through a prior home remodel where mold remediation was necessary so we knew about cost, how remediation works, what to expect and when to fire a contractor for not remediating properly. Advance Mold Diagnostics came out and surveyed the damage and gave an estimate, once contracted they sealed off the specific room of the house (prevent contamination), used appropriate contamination control (room speration/air handling/etc), removed the contaminated "false" cathedral ceiling and insulation and scrubbed/sanded the mold from the wood surface and cleaned the air of mold spores. Next, we had an independant testing company complete tape and air samples to ensure appropriate decontamination. The project passed after the first visit, not a surprise given the cleanliness of the room/surfaces and air test results. AMD then came out and removed the room contamination system for the next phase of the project. The flashing at the chimney line was fixed by a different company and the insulation, dry wall and lighting repositioning were completed by another company. All the contractors worked well together coordinating transition dates and the entire project was completed within 2 weeks. AMD completed their portion of the job in just about a week and delivered a quality product. Craig was professional and knew his business. A note to anyone who has not gone through mold remediation in PA, it is like the wild west out there. Finding a contractor who can complete the job to schedule and pass independant remediation testing on the first try is a GEM!! It is really important to hire a reputable independant inspector to ensure the remediation has been successful. You may pay more to get the job done correctly, but your health is worth it!
Description of Work: Services performed were mold remediation due to a water leak where the chimney and roof-line met. The flashing slowly failed after 10 years and due to a "false" cathedral ceiling the leak was not evident until mold developed and was visible in the ceiling dry wall. After checking the attic, there was visible mold on the rafters and no mold test was necessary. We had mold in a prior home and if its visible it must be remediated properly. We only requested AMD come out and provide an estimate to remediate the mold and a timeline to complete the project. The estimated cost provided is only for the mold remediation. Note: the estimate does not include the cost to fix the roof flashing, re-install insulation and dry wall and re-install light fixtures (these repairs were handled by other contractors).

First it is important to understand that in this field there are 2 basic groups of companies. One group are mainly low level builders who are happy to feed your concern about mold to justify tearing down and rebuilding walls and other parts of your house. I called a few who came to my house and gave me a quote for a very large project withourt doing any testing at all. When confronted with the basic questions " are you going to test for mold" and "how do you know what work has to be completed without knowing if and where the mold exists" they get very nervous. These people are preying on folks with real health issues that are looking for an answer and all too happy to pay someone to remove the problem without asking any question. These are wonderful yet very simple projects for them which they charge 3-4X the normal price because the pretend to wear a fancy mask and a pair of 50 cent latex gloves when they remove some drywall and insullation. They may even hang a few plastic tarps and ask you to stay out of the house for a few days to be safe. All without doing any testing. Its really rediculous but when some is scared, they can be talked into anything with a few scientific terms thrown around. Some even have bogus testing equipment. The other group are legitamite firms who do the actual testing to determine if you have an actual mold problem before considering and potential remediation work. This is where Advanced Mold Diagniostics resides. In this space they have very few competitors. None that I could find with anywhere near the experience. Craig and his team came out on multiple occassions and multiple calls with me and with my wife who has become very concerned about mold due to a variety of health issues. Issues she was sure were caused by toxic black mold in our home. If you believe what you read on the internet its a real epidemic in our country. Prior to Craig's work, this concern was a real issue for our family. Anyone could see she would have paid big bucks to remove half of the house if that is what they recommended. Craig and his team did the proper air and surface testing inside and outside the house and even helped us interpret an addition test my wife arranged by a competitor that we could not understand. He walked us through the results in terminology we could understand. There was no mold and remediation work was not necessary. Our home is fine. I should be clear that we had this work done on 2 separate homes. Both were clear. It cost approx $800 per home which sounded a little pricey to me at first. Some of the companies will charge far less. I hired a few of these folks first, but what they really provided was a quote for almost $10K to rebuild part of the house without any testing. I hope they are happy with my $200 bucks. One of the repeatedly begged me to soften my review of them on Angies list. At the end of the day, it is very difficult to find an honest company in this field. Advanced Mold Diagnostics is an honest group who really helped our family. I highly recommend them.

After a painter suggested that I had a mold problem in my basement, I contacted Advanced Mold Diagnostics over the phone, based on the high ratings on Angie's List. The owner came out three days later for an evaluation. He pointed out that the problem was one of efflorescence affecting the paint, easily remedied by eventual repainting. He then inspected the basement and foundation with exceptional thoroughness---high and low, and all the hidden corners---suggested the removal of a few things that might in the future attract mold (cardboard and certain woods), and informed me that I had no problem and that it would be a waste of my money to do any work. When I asked him what I owed him for his inspection, he smiled and said, "For what? I didn't do any work." I was deeply impressed by his integrity, his high intelligence, and his professionalism. In a world of so many contractors who make up work to be done, here is someone of absolute integrity.

I contacted AMD to provide a mold inspection of my basement. I was able to set up an appointment with them just a few days in advance. Craig Camel, president of the company, arrived at the appointed time and I was immediately impressed with his knowledge base, professionalism and friendliness. He performed a very thorough investigation of my basement looking into spots where I would never have thought to look. He even brought out his infrared detector to look for any moisture. At the end of his inspection he gave me an honest assessment of my issues and advice on my options. And as his client, he stated that I could call him anytime if I had questions or needed additional information or advice. I recommend Craigs services to anyone who believes they need a mold inspection and assessment of their property.

STAY AWAY! Do not be fooled by the "A" ratings. I looked at the reviews carefully before hiring this company to inspect our stucco and was impressed. Then when they wanted to charge $1800 to inspect only the front of our house, I decided to postpone the inspection and think about it a little longer. When I did call back in June, I was scheduled and then rescheduled several times with little notice because they said they were working on a dialysis center and that basically it was more important than my job (red flag). (No, not from my perspective, but I imagine it was more lucrative than my job). They are a small company. The game is they come out and want payment at time of inspection. Do not fall for it if you are under any kind of time pressure. Otherwise, they will take as long as they want to produce a report and can write whatever slop they want. They provided a less than professional report and they couldn't even get the temperature for that day recorded correctly. When I tried to get them to trim down their report to just the facts, and correct the temperature reading, they couldn't be bothered. If you hire this company, make sure you have a signed contract. Craig is an arrogant old goat, and Ryan is a just younger version. Craig plays a game where he asks you to give a review on Angies list right after the inspection is over, but before you receive your report (red flag). He wrote on the invoice that the report would follow in 3-4 weeks, and I asked him for sooner in my case as it was needed for negotiation with my insurance company before the winter sets in and exterior work would be difficult, if not impossible to perform. He waited until 5PM on the last day of the last week to send the report via email. $1800 for a report that is unusable. He didn't even honor the Angies list coupon that I gave him. By the way, there are no refunds, so "Buyer Beware", and make sure you read the other more recent "F" reviews. I'm in a much better situation than some of the other reviewers who spent far more money. Craig will of course, add his perfunctory disclaimer to this review, like he did to the others, but I believe that taking the time to report him might save other AL members some grief. BTW, fortunately my insurance company has agreed to replace the stucco front of my home based on a well-written engineering report. Engineers have an actual degree, not just "certifications". And it cost 1/2 the price, so shop around.

We were contracted by this client to perform a stucco inspection on their property because of our reputation in the industry, Angie's List reviews and the fact that we had performed work on this property three to fours prior for the builder. We wrote a comprehensive report detailing the faulty construction that was not storm related in our opinion. The disagreement here lies in this client urging and trying to coerce us to write the report so that it's covered under an insurance claim previously opened. The visit went very well. As I discussed our problems with one man, another man took samples and surveyed the property. That saved a lot of time. Fortunately, we did not have any major problems. Some of our odd odors concerns and mold suspicions were actually due to problems not related to their field. I was pleased that they did not try to deceive us and press us to do more work than was necessary. They gave us some advice on how to deal with the issues that their company does not handle. They also gave us some great advice on how to prevent and eliminate some minor everyday mold by ourselves. Both men were pleasant and professional. They were recommended by another friend who had some major work done by them. Good experience!

Description of Work: Craig and Ryan came to the house promptly when they said they would and did a complete mold assessment of the structure both inside and out. The report they produced included not only the lab results of the samples they took but both digital and infrared pictures and a discussion of their recommendations. Although this was great; it's really what you would expect from a service provider. What was completely unexpected was that I received a number of follow-up calls afterward from Craig and Ryan regarding a condition that required removal of a portion of the ceiling in order to adequately be serviced by a plumber, and where there could potentially be mold that was not detected with the ceiling intact. They suggested that I send them pictures of the open ceiling and if necessary, they would advise the plumber as to what might be required. The plumber believes he was able to address the problem from the upstairs floor but agreed that the portion of the ceiling would have to be removed and replaced. This has not yet been done but I will absolutely take advantage of Craig and Ryan's offer when it is.

I own a commercial business in town where we had some water penetration issues. In order to address the potential issues promptly and professionally, I looked for someone experienced and qualified who could provide a report and sampling services in order to document my concerns with the property. I got a recommendation from my attorney to call this company as they have a great reputation. In addition to getting a professional as advertised, my interactions with the rest of his company were amicable and pleasant. This company is fabulous! I will certainly call them in the future and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Advanced Mold Diagnostics sent their senior consultant Craig Camel to my Pilates studio for an inspection because I am having an ongoing dispute with my landlord due to a leak in the roof Craig and his assistant conducted a thorough assessment of the property from top to bottom utilizing a lot of high tech equipment. They actually figured out exactly where the leaks were coming from and documented everything in a detailed report. It was fascinating to see the water showing up in the thermal images presented. The report is beautifully presented and will be an invaluable addition in my law suit against my landlord. In addition, Craig and his assistant were extremely respectful and considerate. They worked quickly and quietly and answered all of my questions. Craig made a number of suggestions to help me save money. I was extremely pleased with the entire process.

Ryan, the gentleman I spoke to, said he will review the report with his team and get back to me. No one called back. I called again on Wednesday, 9/26/2012. Spoke to Ryan again. He apologized and said he will call me back after lunch. It's been 2 weeks and we have not heard back. Needless to say, if he does call back, we will not be using his service.

Where do I start? This has been one of the worst experiences dealing with a business. I found out that I had a major mold problem in my house. I?m allergic to mold and was reacting for some time but didn?t know what was happening. When I realized it, I called in the ?experts.? This company said that they had $50,000 of equipment and the owner is on the board of so many air quality groups and he is the best, etc., etc., so I thought that I was getting the best. They were very expensive $700.00 for tests. Since the damage was extensive, I paid the money thinking that I would be getting a very detailed assessment of the mold problem. For $700.00 I got some graphs, no details of where in the walls the moisture, and therefore the mold was. The owner, Craig Camel, suggested that I could do some mold remediation myself to save money in one bedbroom that was really bad. I actually tried that but it was too much, a big job, and should not be done by someone with mold allergies. Bad idea! That should have been my first hint. In any case, I wanted to get an estimate from him for remediation of the house. A few weeks went by without any response from them. I got an estimate from one company who was going to do the entire house using decontamination chemicals, it would have been two weeks out. In the meantime, Mr. Camel found time to call me back. I asked for an estimate. He said whatever you get, let me know and I?ll beat it. I didn?t call him back with the competitors estimate because Mr. Camel seemed arrogant. He called me a week later, on a Thursday, Aug 16, because he had a time slot available on Monday for a few days and will get started on my house so I can move back into it sooner. His price was cheaper but did not include the basement. He said I can do that myself by clearing out some junk (I guess I didn't learn the first time). Based on the promise of moving back into my house sooner, and I shouldn?t have chemicals in my house because I?m sensitive to it, so his argument went, I went with him instead of the competitor. Bad idea! When he called on that Thursday, I was suffering from ?brain fog? from the mold allergy and was on sleep medication. It?s my fault for signing a contract under those conditions but I wanted to get back into my house as soon as possible. That's a lesson to not deal with business in a condition of weakness. On the third day of remediation, the kitchen and dining room wall was not done. I brought this up. Mr. Camel said it?s not in the contract. So, realizing another mistake, on the spot, I had to sign another contract to do those walls, costing an additional $3000.00 dollars. Now, I?m beyond what the competitor offered and the basement still won?t be done. I was working in my basement on day 4 of the remediation, with a respirator, when debris (mold contaminated dirt and cellulose insulation) came falling on me and my laptop and workspace. His containment did't include anything below the floor and he never said that I shouldn?t be in the building. DON'T be in a building when mold remediation is going on. Ever since that time, my life has been h***. I left the house right then and, unknowingly, contaminated my car, work cubicle and laptop. My stress level went through the roof and I became very highly allergic to the smallest amount of mold. I also developed a chemical sensitivity and couldn?t wear any clothes that were not 100% cotton. I had to buy some new clothes, all cotton, wear a respirator while driving in my car or working at my cubicle. I had to constantly change clothes because sitting in my car would contaminate them, I became so sensitive. I finally had to rent a car for a month because I couldn?t drive my own anymore. Since the kitchen and dining room walls were not on his original schedule, they now rushed the job. His trabajadores scratched my hardwood floors moving things; they broke the back panel to the kitchen sink. The entire thing needs to be replaced. They broke a window sill in the kitchen and the kitchen sink drain pipe. They also broke a 12"x12" ceramic tile by the front door. As of now, they refuse to fix any of it nor compensate me for it. ,When I walked into my house after the remediation, I was in shock and still got the mold allergy response. So, I spent over $9,000.00 in mold remediation and still can?t move back into my house. I told the manager, Gary about the debris and to clean it up. They did come about 2 weeks later, after coaxing, to vacuum up the debris that fell in the basement, the debris that Mr. Camel said was just dust and cellulose, not mold, but was highly allergic for me. Since the job was started so quickly, there was no pod available for putting the clothes in. So, the trabajadores, que no hablan ingles, just put all my clothes in one small room and left the door open during the remediation, they didn?t even try to cover it. I guess that works in Mexico but the contract said that I should have a pod. Plus, they didn?t remediate the wall in that room (small computer room). All my clothes got contaminated. When they were done, they put a few things back but left piles of contaminated stuff in that room, I guess because they were in a hurry at that point. The second remediation company had to wipe everything down and move it so they could remediate the wall. I spoke to the general manager, Gary, who said that there is a clause in the contract that some things may get broken and therefore refuses to pay for anything. Here?s their disclaimer: ?Note: Although all precautions will be taken and because we have no control over how surfaces were prepared or will respond to painters tape, there is no guarantee that paint, wallpaper or finishes may not be damaged and Advanced Mold Diagnostics cannot be held responsible. In addition, we are moving heavy equipment in and out of the property, up and down steps, etc. and again we will take all precautions to protect said surfaces, but we will not be/cannot be held responsible to any damage to walls, floors, ceilings or furniture.? Dragging a refrigerator across the floor is not a reasonable ?precaution.? Breaking out a back panel, or a sink drain, has nothing to do with moving heavy equipment. It has to do with sloppy work and being in a hurry. Knowing that I?m highly allergic to mold, why would he even give me a proposal to do partial remediation, leaving moldy walls behind? Why did he go ahead without protecting my clothes? The contract says they were going to have a pod, but no pod was provided. From the contract: "Scope of Work: NOTE: Storage POD will be placed in your driveway (cars will have to be parked elsewhere). The contents of your bedrooms (clothes and personal items you want to access during the remediation will have to be removed by the customer) will be placed in the POD so we have 6? of space on the front and rear elevation walls." I will say that where they did remove the mold and walls, they removed everything, including parts of the ceiling, which of course, is now more expensive to rebuild. Their containment walls seemed to hold well, but when I told Mr. Camel that I?m still getting the allergic response after their remediation, he said that there is still some mold in the window frames and that I should have all my windows removed and put in a polymer to replace the wood. Is that realistic? How much is that, another $10,000? Insurance didn?t cover any of this. When they started removing the walls, they put the debris in plastic bags, all of which ripped and had holes in them, from the ferring strips, as they carried them out and put them on my front lawn for 3 days until their dumpster came in my driveway. I couldn't even walk past my house because the moldy smell and dust were blowing with the wind and I still see small residual cellulose debris in my yard. So, no dumpster (for three days), no POD for the clothes. Be wary of these guys and their overpriced testing services (his expensive thermal imaging didn?t pick up the moisture in the kitchen wall, even though the paint was bubbling, and there was in fact mold there when they did take it out). I didn?t get anything more from them than I did the other, less expensive competitor, who had to come in and finish the remediation in the basement and computer room. I had a very bad experience with this company. Their remediation ended on August 24th. As of this review, I?m still not in my house yet. Perhaps in another 2 to 3 weeks I?ll be able to move back in. Don't let Craig Camel bully you into a partial remediation job just because it's convenient for him.
Description of Work: Remove water damaged interior walls and the moldy cellulose insulation behind it on three exterior walls on first and second floor. Water damaged interior walls were in living room, kitchen, dining room on 1st floor and all three bedrooms on the second floor.

We performed all contracted services in addition to considerable time and work that went above and beyond the printed contract. We spent many hours on the phone with this client attempting to help him with his sensitivity. When examined in its entirety, this review reveals more about the client who submitted it than any company response could accurately portray about our interaction. I used this company because my family had used them in the past with good results. The office staff was very accommodating from start to finish. They do a good job of collecting and giving information. The consultant came out after we worked out a schedule date that worked for everyone. He was on time, very professional, polite and thorough. He started by going over a packet of what he describe as ?useful information? which he said was ours. He took the time to explain to my husband and myself as well as my realtor and the sellers? realtor what he would be doing. The office had already done that, but we appreciated it anyway and so did my realtor. He took a long time looking at the house. He had a lot of equipment and what turned out to be a lot of experience in performing this kind of work. Craig and my husband Jay really hit it off from the moment he found out my husband was also a contractor. Of course, all the boy toys didn?t do anything to dampen their almost instant bond. He pinpointed a number of issues, some of which our home inspector had showed us and many, many more that we were not made aware of. He found mold under the drop ceiling in the living area of the basement and an area that was wet, but invisible to the naked eye. The camera he had used was amazing ? like ghost buster?s stuff. The owners of the house were brought down at that point and he explained that there was a leak coming from outside and some mold had developed. He also showed them the mold on a number of antiques they had in the dining room. He said that some of the issues weren?t serious and explained that the homeowner could address it themselves or bring in a mold guy and he explained what needed to be done (hot water and soap and some coating designed for mold). He assured my husband and I that it was so minor and the other concerns he had were more important. He found mold on the sheathing in the attic that was not easy to spot until he pointed it out, another thing our home inspector missed. He explained the principles of ventilation and why this had occurred and how to correct it. My husband got it, I got most of it. He raised issues about the stucco outside. He said although this was not a stucco inspection, but rather an inspection for mold that the windows and the stucco had a direct impact on indoor air quality. Boy, do I wish I had listened to him. My husband was concerned by what Craig was saying, but I LOVED this house and wanted it. In my mind it was perfect. We purchased the house and moved in and thought all was well until the spring when we had heavy rains and we found a little bit of water on two window sills. Long story short, we called Advanced Mold and after much anguishing over the price of a stucco inspection we bit the bullet and had it done by their building company.
Description of Work: We used this company for a mold inspection prior to purchasing our home. Actually, we ended up using them for a number of services. I made an agreement with them to write a report good or bad and it's taking me awhile with my busy schedule to find the time, but I wanted to keep my promise. I got on AL this evening to write it and started reading some of the reviews in order to get a feel for how I should compose it. WOW, the last two reviews scared me at first, did I miss something, this company was great. I thought to myself, am I naive, no, I'm not naive -these people are bleeping nuts! I remembered that I had to reschedule my appointment last minute as something came up and they made it easy to find an alternate time.

I had many estimates and found each contractor to offer a vastly different approach to resolve my problem and became confused. After speaking with Craig I feel significantly more comfortable knowing what to look for as what questions to ask. He spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me, was very patient and obviously an expert in his field. He even provided me with a reference to a company who may be able to service us. Update: I called again and spoke with Ryan with some additional questions, and when he was unsure, he again transferred me to Craig who clarified the situation. At this point, I am still waiting on the contractor he recommended to come out (we have an appt scheduled) but at least one other contractor has quoted me exactly what Craig would recommend. The comfort level that has provided my husband and I is invaluable; considering all the problems we have had with contractors over the last two years!
Description of Work: I called to get an estimate and was lucky enough to have the owner, Craig, answer the phone. Since my exterior fireplace repair is too small of a job for his company, he went on to provide me with invaluable information on a consultant basis (over the phone) as to exactly what to look for in finding a professional to perform the work necessary.

Thank you. It's truly a pleasure to help people and even more so when a client does there research and really wants to understand the process and not just trust the contractor to know what he's doing. My grandfather taught me that if you serve the needs of others, your needs will be served. I don't know where he learned that, but it's stayed with me and served me well. They were very professional, courteous and on time. They were true experts in diagnosing several issues in a home I was looking to purchase. They advised me to ask fro appropriate repairs before purchasing. In the end they provided excellent service, great advice and guidance to lead me in the right direction when dealing with this very expensive purchase.

I called and left a message inquiring about a stucco inspection in early July I believe. Ryan returned my call a few days later and was very helpful and gave me a quote of $995 for the inpection. I called back a week later to schedule the inspection. I talked to Laura who said Ryan was unavailable but she would schedule the inspection for me. I scheduled the original inspection for August 16th at 10am to 12pm. I got a call from Ryan the night before saying they would be late the next day, closer to noon I believe, would that be ok? It was fine with me. Next day I got a call from Laura around 10ish saying she was sorry and that they needed to cancel due to an emergency. I was upset but told her I was off the following Wednesday from work, could we reschedule for then? She said she would call me right back. 3 hours go by and I hadnt heard from her...so I called back and she said she would need to check with the consultant and she would call me right back again. She called a half hour later and said yes, they could come out on Wed the 22nd to do the inspection and they would be at my house around noon. I got a call Tues the 21st confirming the appointment for Wednesday. At 12:45 Wednesday, Laura called again and told me they needed to cancel. Needless to say I did not take this very well.....against my better judgement I told Laura I would give them one last chance to rectify this and I was off work again Friday the 24th and she had 2 hours to call me back and let me know if they would do the inspection that day. I never heard back from her. Today, Friday the 24th, I received a call from Ryan who indicated that he understood I was upset that they had canceled at the last minute on Wednesday. He acted like he knew nothing at all about the previous cancellation (I doubt that is the case) and he seemed suprised that Laura never got back to me in the 2 hour time frame I requested on Wednesday. He said he hoped that I would still consider using their services but he would understand if I did not. I own a very successful business (grossing 20 mill per year) and I did not build that business to what it is using customer service skills such as the one's I have encountered with Advanced Mold Diagnostics. I utilized Angie's List and looked at all the reviews for them beforehand and am very disappointed that I did not receive the same excellent service.... I understand that my potential $995 bill would not generate much attention compared to other big projects that they were on and emergencies that came up, however, when you look at the fact that they would have potentially gained a customer that would have hired them as expert witnesses in our case against the builder and the fact that my stucco most likely need remediation to the tune of at least $50,000 this could have been much more lucrative for them. In addition, the $995 dollars they were going to charge me is now seeming pretty inflated since I am getting much lower quotes from other stucco inspectors....(I was willing to pay the $995 given the excellent reviews that they have received on this site.) Now I have to start the process of finding another stucco inspector again, set up appointments, etc....My attorney really needed this information ASAP.... In response to Mr. Camel, with all due respect, I didn't speak to you once so you have no idea what happened I communicated with your staff and when I have taken off work and I am sitting in my home waiting for your staff to arrive and I get a call canceling, then that is not the definition of advance notice. The first time your staff called maybe an hour or two before they were supposed to be here and the second time they call a half hour AFTER they were supposed to be at my home. If your staff is telling you otherwise, then you may want to pull your outgoing calls records because someone is lying to you in order to avoid getting in trouble. And the fact of the matter is I was willing to give you a third chance and I told Laura that she had 2 hours to call me back to reschedule and I never heard back from her. So what happened there? Someone dropped the ball (Laura could have fixed this had I actually received a call to reschedule) and is refusing to accept responsibility on it and the fact that you would throw it back on the customer and say that there was plenty of "advance notice" is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous.
Description of Work: Hired them to do an intensive stucco inspection, they canceled on me last minute, twice!

Unfortunately, we did have to reschedule twice due to overwhelming demand for our services. My staff communicated clearly and with plenty of advance notice so I would disagree with the timeline described above. It's a little disheartening to hear that we let a customer down. Every year we get more and more requests for our services, but there must be a reason so many builders, architects, attorneys, commercial and residential clients want to use us. We are constantly recruiting new personnel, but with our standards as high as they are we have to wait for the right individuals to come along. The training process we put them through to continue to provide the quality that we're known for takes time. We'll all know that you get what you pay for in life. There are many people out there jumping into this business we've been in for decades and are charging less. I have a policy of giving 100 percent to the clients that we're working with, so, if it takes longer then we expect and have to reschedule a new client that will always be the case. This client would have had the same attention and expertise had she contracted with us. Craig Camel President Advanced Mold Diagnostics Advanced Stucco Inspection

He was very persistent on coming out with his expensive equipment. I did not need what he was offering. I wanted him to come out and look at certain sports in my house. He was very rude on the phone. He was very unprofessional in the fact that he bad mouthed one of his fellow employees. He seemed to be looking for unacknowledged customers.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to this posting. Our records indicate that the wife called in on 06/18 and was given a recommendation for a particular service based upon the information she provided. She informed us she would call back to schedule. The husband's comments about my persistence are probably correct, especially when we feel you need to have your problem diagnosed because you don't know what caused the problem or how far it has spread. Yes, there is a charge to contract for most of our services. Craig Camel President Advanced Mold Diagnostics Advanced Stucco Inspection

We are purchasing a home with a large crawlspace that has had significant water penetration in the past (evidently over a foot of standing water at one time!). As a result, there is extensive mold growing on the ceiling of the crawlspace, including adjacent to all of the HVAC ducting and equipment. We wanted to understand the extent of damage, possible health risks, and of course the feasibility of cleaning it all up and ensuring the problem is solved permanently. Advanced Mold sent one of their crew out to do a review of the situation. We were thoroughly impressed. The reviewer literally left no stone unturned as he went through the crawlspace - tucking into areas that required him to slide on his back via tight openings, in order to make sure he didn't miss anything. When he went into the attic, he explored portions of it that I'd have thought would require a military spy robot to reach! He went on to point out aspects of these spaces which even the home inspector had missed. He took tons of photographs and copious notes and walked me through them afterward. In particular, I appreciated that he explained to me not only his findings, but his process: what he was looking for to begin with, and anything he saw that raised questions or uncertainty about the situation. He was so careful with both his assessment of the situation and his explanation of what he found. We had some anxiety about this mold, but after their review we felt confident we understand what we are facing. Subsequent to the review, we got a follow up call to make sure our questions were answered. The call lasted a good hour and a half as I asked every question I could think of. I got explanations of the various approaches to deal with the mold as well as various water proofing strategies, which I'd have thought was beyond the assessment's scope. Meanwhile I got exactly zero pressure from them to hire them to perform the ensuing mold cleanup, which I also would have expected. In a nutshell: these guys were truly professional and well worth it. I got exactly what I was looking for: an extremely thorough and sober assessment of our mold situation that's equipped me to make decisions about how to address the problem.

I found AMD on Angie's list and contacted Craig. Craig reviewed in detail both of these reports and spent more than 90 minutes on the phone with me. Craig was familiar with both of the agencies that performed the stucco inspections and quickly found flaws in each report. Craig spent the time to show me why some of information in these reports was inaccurate (e.g. wrong citings to building codes, acceptable threshold levels for moisture). It was obvious to me that Craig has clear understanding of how stucco should be applied and continues to keep up with the latest Technics in this space. I wasn't surprised when I found out that Craig is used as an expert witness in court cases involving stucco. At the end of the day, the house we were considering did have serious stucco issues and would have cost more than $100K to repair. Thanks to Craig, we elected to pass on this house and avoided a potential disaster. If you are considering buying a house with stucco, call Craig for an inspection. You could save thousands and will have peace of mind that your house is not a ticking time bomb.
Description of Work: We were exploring a house that appeared to have potential stucco issues. Even though, the house was less than 5 years old, a potential buyer had a stucco inspection performed on the house. The potential buyer did not buy the house because of this report. The seller disclosed this report, as well as another report (done by the seller) that stated the issues were fixed by the seller.

Overall, I was impressed with the inspection report Craig delilvered. However it was more than I really needed and too expensive. Yet it was my decision to get the best inspection he had. My lack of satisfaction was in dealing with Craig. The report took a long time to deliver and I felt he was holding out for the remediation job. Things were never completely clear. It could be this or it could be that. I felt there was too much "flexibility." I could not envision going through an entire project not really trusting what was going on.
Description of Work: We knew that we had stucco "issues," but needed to know the extent of the problem. We identified Craig's company through Angie's List. On his scale of inspections we choose the most complete. This was a tutorial in stucco inspections. His crew used what appeared to be the latest in technology. Craig's 61-page report included a lot of background material on stucco application and the problems that can arise. Craig said the report would be ready in weeks. This was a concern because we needed the report to take our next step of finding a contractor to fix the problem. I also started to talk to Craig about quoting the remediation work. While I was frustrated by having to wait for the report, I was also concerned by Craig's lack of clarity about what could/should be done. Finally we received the report and started looking for a contractor. I also asked Craig to quote the job. Craig's price was high. However there was another major reason for not going with Craig. Even on our small inspection job, delevery dates were not firm and there was no clarity on what needed to be done. I was afraid to imagine what it would be like on a major project.
