This is the story of my experience with Beaver Valley Lawn Service and its owner, Danny Cepull, as submitted to the BBB: ---------- I contacted Daniel Cepull, the owner, to get estimates on some landscaping services I required at my home. There were two primary aspects:1. reshaping and mulching the landscaped beds around my house; and2. removing rocks and sand from, and planting new grass in, an area from which an above-ground pool was about to be removed. He quoted a price on part 1 at just over $1,600 and said that if we awarded him the work, he would perform part 2 for $600. He also said that once the pool had been removed, he would be able to come to begin the cleanup in "3 or 4 days." I agreed to hire him based on these terms. As we were concerned with getting the grass planted early enough in the season, I requested that the pool area be worked on first. Daniel turned down my request, citing scheduling conflicts with different crews. I accepted this explanation, but asked that all work be completed by May 8, 2010, to which he agreed in writing. By late April, Daniel and his crew had completed most of part 1, and we agreed to some additional enhancements. Initially, they did almost half of this work. At this time, I had paid for part 1 in full, as well as $725 for the enhancements, expecting all of the work to be completed soon. Part 2 had still not been started. I had an unfinished landscaping area in my front yard as weeks went by and the deadline passed. Daniel repeatedly made and broke plans to return to finish the work. Finally, he returned near the end of June and completed the work in the front yard, though not in the manner discussed and in an overall unsatisfactory way. Approximately $300 of work in the rear of our house was never completed despite having already been paid for. ---------- As of July, 2010, I was unable to reach Daniel by phone. He first neglected to return my phone calls and eventually seemed to have permanently blocked my number. I never received a refund of my overpayment and ultimately had to hire a more responsible landscaping company to complete the work. At the time I hired BVLS, they had an A- rating with the BBB. Since then, mine and another's complaints went unanswered and their rating has fallen to an F. We discovered too late that he did not have different landscaping "crews" - a fact Danny's son revealed to us, probably not knowing that his father had fed us this story. My guess is that he never had any intention of honoring the deal he had offered for cleaning up the pool area. I've also come to realize that BVLS's Cranberry number is just a forwarding number to make it appear that he has two offices. The address listed as the Cranberry location doesn't even, in fact, exist as far as I can tell.

Partway through the work on part 1 we agreed to some additional reshaping and mulching work.
