Wood-Revivers

Robert and his two workers did an excellent job on our backyard deck. Our deck is a fairly large size and was covered with a Behr product which really looked bad after two years. It had to be removed by electric pressure washing and sanding before they could seal and stain it. I have stripped and stained the deck myself before and vowed to never do it again! I am very pleased with their professional results. The deck looks fantastic and much better than anything I could have done. They moved all the heavy planters and furniture themselves which surprised and pleased me. Robert also did not try to sell us on additional services which were not necessary. He remarked that some parts of the deck looked fine and did not need maintenance this year. His estimate was not the lowest we found but it was in the middle. I was shocked by how good the deck looked after they were done. It looks brand new. I will hire them again.

we saw an add in ANGIE'S LIST monthly newsletter saying they gave 10% off to Angie List members, so we called for an estimate. Robert showed up on time and gave us a written estimate. It was more than we had wanted to pay -- and we spent a couple weeks talking over the pros and cons of having it done. At last we decided to go ahead. We called Robert--he was totally cooperative in scheduling the project. His employee was a polite young man who did a fine job. I am not really thrilled with the color --it seems the color he showed us was less-red than it turned out but it is ok. The deck looks fine and we feel it was worth doing and we accomplished our goal of having it sealed to extend its life.

Overall, the job was completed satisfactorily, but I was expecting the deck to be cleaned, sanded and sealed, as indicated on the estimate. The deck, however, was only cleaned and sealed, and I was charged the full amount. When I asked Robert about whether a mistake had been made in either overlooking the sanding, or overcharging me for services rendered, Robert said he didn't know why he had agreed to sand the deck, since it didn't need it, but the $400+ charge was for cleaning and sealing a deck of our size. He apologized for the mistake, but I still feel like I was overcharged for the services he provided. The quality of the work was satisfactory, but I am not sure that I would hire Wood-revivers again, based on this initial experience.

Called Bob Ems (owner) and told him my story of the deck stain being all wrong when WE did it. He came, measured and sent his guys WOW WOW WOW. Deck looks new and beautiful and not a weird color like it was. The color of the new stain blends great with the old and looks like it was meant to be that way

Deck was last stained 6 years ago was covered in dirt, moss and algae. Worker power-washed with electric power-washer which cleaned it up nicely (discovered it was a cedar deck).with no wood damage. Company provided stain and looks even better, repels water nicely. Expect will need to do this every couple of years since it is exposed to sun, but at the price charged and time saved, well worth it.

It was the deck job from h***!! The two men who did the pressure wash and preliminary work were good workers and did exactly as they were instructed to do. However, the painting and finishing of the deck was an exercise in frustration. The owner of this business could never find a color that wasn't primarily red and I didn't want a red deck. I asked for a color to match the wood of the house. The problem in the long run was that Wilco didn't make a color that matched our house and the owner of Wood Revivers wasn't willing to try to match the color with any other brand of paint because it would have cost him more money. After nearly two weeks of trying to get me to agree to a color I knew was wrong for our house, he came up with something that sort of approximates the color of the house, but in slapping the paint on late one afternoon nearly two weeks after it should have been finished, he managed to miss one entire side of the deck railing and deck pieces. Now, every time I look out my bathroon window, I can see one entire side of the deck that doesn't match the rest of the deck. However, I don't want that guy anywhere near my house again.

It took many weeks for the crew to show up which was fine with me because of the rains we had in the spring. When they finally showed up, the crew cleaned the posts and then were to stain the posts. For some reason that I still don't understand, the deck posts on my front bedroom deck were never cleaned.... and the crew never stained them. The owner never got in touch with me that they needed access to the front upper deck.Then weeks went by and finally the owner showed up and went to my front deck and stained the posts. He never cleaned the posts and I am not sure why he didn't clean the posts first. He could have cleaned them before he stained them but he did not. He new the look would not be the same and it wasn't. My posts looked dirty and dingy on the upper front deck in contrast to the staircase posts that were cleaned and stained and looked terrific. When the owner was coming over for payment I told him I wasn't happy. He came and looked at it and said he would have to sand the posts down because he didn't clean them in the first place. I asked him why he didn't call me and we would have set up a date for him to come in and clean the posts. This was not an unreasonable request. He said he would come back with his crew and try and fix what he did wrong. 2 weeks later when I called him, he then said he would come out. When he showed up, he was by himself and it was after 5:30 at night and I asked where his crew was. He said his crew was off for the day. I felt like a left over that had to be addressed and it was no fault of my own. He was there to fix his mistake and didn't bring the crew with him that could make it right. He sanded the posts that he could but actually admitted it would never look like the ones that were clean. I paid him and he said that next spring I should call him and he would clean the deck for free. Meanwhile my front deck facing the street will never be right.

Bob took my call on Thursday, viewed the decks on Friday morning. Bid provided within 24 hours which was great. His bid was competitive. We went with another contractor but I would have felt completely comfortable with Wood Reviver's doing the work.

Wood-Revivers were contacted about 3 week prior for bid. Family medical emergencies delayed the start of the work. Their bid was resonable given the scope of the work. Once the work was initiated, it was executed with great professionalism and the crew work around weather and our schedule. The finished deck looks wonderful. Robert even promised to come back and take the flower pots up to the deck. This was the only promise the Wood-Revivers did not keep and I was able to get someone else to do this job for me.

Robert Ems from Wood Revivers came out to give me an estimate for the work to be done. We then scheduled the job and they came out to do the work. We had to be a little flexible with our schedule because we had to work around the weather. Once the work was done, Robert came by again to stain an additional flower planter at no charge that my husband had built since the work had been done. They did a very nice job.

Awesome. Robert is a very nice, honest, solid businessman. He treated me fairly and with respect. His workers were focused and completed work rapidly. A no-nonsense job and very well done to date.

After my initial call, Bob came out promptly and gave me a bid, which I accepted. He told me he was a couple of weeks out, which was fine. In less than that time, he called and said the deck would be power washed that week in the evening. Two days after that, the deck was stained with a protective finish. It looks beautiful. I was extremely pleased with his professionalism and with the work. I am happy to know that I can call on him in the future and know that the work will be done well and when he says it will be done.

The work quality was excellent and I was pleased with it. The work that had to be done was under estimated and I got charged an extra $450. I was told that they weren't going to haul away the old boards, but in the end they ended up doing it.

In the past, having our decks refurbished was a freaking NIGHTMARE! People saying they were coming at 7 a.m., not showing up, not returning calls, then calling at 9 p.m. to say "I'm not gonna make it." The last time, the process took something like three weeks and I had to have them do a lot of stuff over. (Of course, when you have the stain done later into the space between the planks, then you get a nice dark-stripey effect . . . aargh!) BUT THESE GUYS ARE AMAZING! Within an hour of talking with him on the phone, owner Robert was on our deck. That was a Friday and the work was completed the following Thursday. The workers, a courteous trio of Hispanic brothers, did work that was thorough, neat and very careful. They were also very non-invasive and I never felt like my own routine was disrupted. The results are really beautiful. I was afraid our 15-year-old deck was in its sunset years, but it looks, well, ALMOST new! I highly, highly recommend Wood-Revivers!

Bob was prompt in returning my phone call, and came out as soon as he could (was waiting for dry weather). He was honest in letting us know that the deck was still in pretty good shape, and we appreciated that honesty. Bob went ahead and measured the deck and prepared an estimate for when we do decide to do the deck next year. He said he would honor the price at that time. The price is several hundred dollars less than another estimate I received, I'll definitely be calling Wood reviver next year.

They were very good. They noticed some color differences that I had done and came back and fixed it at no extra charge.

They were very prompt to give an estimate and did an excellent job cleaning and re-staining/sealing our front deck. When I had some questions about a few spots, Robert Ems came out the same day and looked at them, and added more stain/sealer for no additional charge. It looks great!

Responded quickly to our request for a bid. Had to wait a few weeks for the work to be done. He was a little flaky about letting us know when he would be there. He said he would be there Wednesday, didn't show up or call. Did show up Thursday afternoon. We felt that with our having already stripped the deck he didn't have that much to do. The sanding was marginal. He made quite a lot of money for not much work.

Robert was pleasant and professional, gave us clear, reasonable estimates for a variety of possibilities, including deck, porch, fencing. We chose to do just our back deck and front porch. He and his crew were efficient, professional, work was done to high-quality standards and he worked us in slightly earlier than initially planned. Well done. Will use him next year to maintain our cedar fencing, too. We live in Southwest Portland.

While I had to call Robert and ask when the deck would be stained and sealed, he did send someone out the following week. I am extremely happy with the results. My deck looks like new.
