We are very happy with it, it looks really good. The workers were professional and very prompt. They were able to knock it out in a couple days. We would recommend them and use them again in the future.

I am very pleased with the work they have done. The owner, Ed, was easy to contact and I had no problems making a timely appointment for him to come out and inspect the roof and deck and give us an estimate. Ed was knowledgeable and experienced. He offered some good suggestions (like zinc strips to be applied where the second story gutters are designed to drain directly onto the first story roof, thus making a small area on the first story roof wet most of the time and conducive to moss growth). He was also receptive to my questions, such as if they could install some kind of screening at the top of downspouts so that debris does not get washed into them. Two of his workers, Jesus and Fernando, arrived on time as scheduled. They were both polite, personable and hard-working. It is always so refreshing to be at ease when people are working on your house! Ed also came out to the job site to bring some additional materials and check on the work. All the work was done as agreed (though we both initially forgot about the zinc strips, but when we talked later it was not an issue and they came out later that week to take care of it), and the roof, gutters and deck look great! Oh, and it is kind of a messy job, but they did a fine job cleaning up afterwards. They rinsed off the exterior windows and walls and really did a superb job of cleaning up the front entry. The front entry/walk looked better when they were done than it had in a year! I would definitely recommend Ed and his workers Jesus and Fernando at NW Surface Cleaners!

It was horrible. There there was no evidence of sanding and when he applied the sealer stain I provided a can of my own stuff, which he did not return. I have 150lb pots, which he left in my yard. I had to ask him to come back to return the pots. He arrived with this son and they dragged the pots across my newly finished deck and broke the stands. Within 30 days of completing the deck treatment it began to mold and moss again.

He did the job, but I feel that he was trying to sell us additional services. He was very pushy. They hauled all of the debris away.

The work on my house went fairly well, but I had to put up with some diatribe and was not completely satisfied with the work done for the price I paid. My original grade of F was based on an incident that occurred a few weeks later while cleaning my neighbor's roof and totally ruined the window cleaning that I had just had paid for after having my roof cleaned. My neighbor saw what was happening, was very upset, and immediately let me know that my house was being trashed. When we complained to Ed, he had his person came over to our house and attempt to clean off the windows and the siding with a high pressure nozzle. This process ruined a couple of my screens and just made a bigger mess. I told the guy to leave and scrubbed down my siding and windows, and repaired the screens myself. After a couple of months of cooling off, I posted a grade of F in August 2014. Ed saw the grade and came out to our house a couple of times, apologized, and wanted to make things right with me. He indicated that he had fired the person who had done the damage, and was willing to have our windows cleaned and screens repaired. I had already done the work so this wasn't necessary. My rationale for revising my previous grade is based on Ed's followup and concern for the incident.

Ed gave a bid to strip and powerwash the cedar decks. I was clear up-front that we would take care of the stain, but I was open to get a quote that listed each service, including the stain. I chose Ed mainly due to cost & even emailed him a signed contract for only the cleaning. I would review the deck prior to any further work like sanding; I did not think it needed sanding. The worst part of the deck was the vertical part of the railings (mildew) and Ed wasn't going to sand those anyway. Unfortunately, the guy who powerwashed splintered my front deck rail. I called Ed & said it needed to be fixed. He said he would be out to look at it the next a.m. Two very nice guys showed up the next day ready to sand the entire 2 decks!! They called Ed who came out. They did sand the rail (I still had to glue down a sliver), but Ed tried to talk me into "doing the job right." (i.e. sand & stain). It was high-pressure, but I paid him just for the strip & wash. I was surprised that the washer guy had left the rail in that condition; I thought more care would be taken with cedar (some if the sides of the deck boards were also a bit worse for the job -- but the deck is also 16yrs old so that could be a factor); it's the reason I hired someone who would know what they were doing. Usually I just scrub with brushes, but I just didn't have the time this year.

Ed Baumann provided an estimate for the job. My decks are extensive, on multiple levels, with lots a stairs. Prior to this job, much of the cedar decking was replaced. That which wasn't replaced had multiple coatings of solid color stain. It was ugly. Ed's team sanded off all the old stain and lightly sanded the new wood. An oil-based stain was then applied. The decks now look brand new! I am very pleased with NW Surface Cleaners' wok and will not hesitate to use them again.

Ed was a real professional - prompt, competent, and very nice to work with. His workers were also very polite and did a great job. I would hire him again if I needed any work done.

Ed had talked us through the process he takes to refinish outdoor decking. Having grown up with a father as a carpenter, I know what they are talking about and can easily detect short cuts and others ways to make things look nice without doing a truly quality job. What Ed had laid out was a through refinishing to maintain the integrity of the cedar for years to come. Quality of deck work: A Ed and his team came over Monday morning and got straight to work. We were aware of all parts of the process and the schedule that was planned to carry them out and they followed through. We never once had to go out to clean up after they had left for the day. There was very much a feeling of mutual respect between us. Quality of team work: A My husband and I have tried to save a few bucks here and there by hiring the lowest bidder. The little we have saved cost us much more in grief and long term repairs. Ed's team, NW Surface Cleaner, Inc., was very well priced and we feel as though the customer service quality actually added to the value of the dollar spent. Our deck is done. We still have some money left to spend on a back yard get together!! We are so very pleased.

We hired NW Surface Cleaners, Inc. recently. They cleaned our cedar shake roof and replaced damaged shakes. After that was done, they restored our deck that was in disrepair. 1. The cleaned roof of our house looks fantastic! We get many compliments on its appearance. It was in dire need of TLC as it had never been cleaned in the nine years of its existence. We are very pleased with the results and will certainly call NW Surface Cleaner for this service again. 2. Our deck is not very old. Apparently, when the previous owners had it professionally stained, the wrong product was used. Three years later, the deck was in dreadful shape and needed a lot of work. It turned out to be a very messy, time-consuming job. No sooner had NW Surface Cleaners finished the job, we then had issues with damage to the freshly-stained deck (accidentally caused by a visitor). Ed Baumann, owner of NW Surface Cleaner and his workers, came back several times to work on it. We are happy to report that the extra effort paid off - the deck looks good again.

The service went great. The technician was very professional and did a nice job. He arrived to the appointment on time and did exactly what the deal stated. He was great with the cleanup afterwards. They were easy to get in contact with and to schedule.

Very difficult to schedule service, but the two guys who came to do the service were very friendly and professional and did an excellent job.

Great job! The previous quote I received included cleaning the roof by a house painter. I knew the deal had to be "too good to be true". (I decided to not have that company paint my house as well). Nonetheless, NW Surface Cleaners did a great job and I would definitely use them again!

I have used NW Surface for several years now and have been very satisfied with the roof service. Ed, the owner, is honest about the work that needs to be done. I thought the roof might need to be replaced, but Ed told me it needed moss treatment every 4 years and it should last many more years. I have it cleaned yearly, along with the gutters. The same man who works for Ed has done the work every year and it always looks great. The cost this year was higher because the roof needed to be treated again. Usually it is about $150 for the roof and gutters. I also had my large wood deck cleaned and it will be sanded and treated by NW Surface in the spring. Every time I have called, or Ed has called me, he has been out very soon to check on the roof. I appreciate that they are always on time and clean up well afterwards.

The company provided a competitive estimate and performed the services as promised and on time.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was pretty good. There were no additional charges. We have a pretty tall house but he didn't charge us extra for that, which is nice. I thought he would because of the height of the house.

NW Surface Cleaners did two jobs for me. Removing moss from my roof and treating it with a moss preventative, and cleaning my gutters. I paid one price, but I am going to review each service separately: First, a summary - I went with NW Surface Cleaners because of a recommendation from a coworker. He was going to charge $500 for moss removal and treatment and a gutter cleaning on a 1500 sq. ft. house, but when I told him I had a quote from someone else for $300, he lowered his price to $450. Based on the recommendation I had from my coworker, I went with him even though his price was higher than other quotes I had received. Ed (the owner) was easy to contact, he returned my calls when he was not available to answer the phone, and was on time for all appointments. Moss removal and treatment review: I was not present when the initial work on the roof was done. I examined the roof when I got home from work and found some obvious chunks of moss still present. I was able to easily pick this moss of with my fingers. I also saw moss where a tree branch was hanging over the roof. I called Ed (the owner) that evening, and he was out the next morning with the worker who did the job. The worker went up on the roof and touched up what he did and the roof looked better. Gutter cleaning review: The job that was done on my gutters is the main reason that I did not score NW Surface Cleaners higher. While I checked the moss on the roof after the initial cleaning, I checked the gutters as well and found that they had not been touched. The next morning, after Ed's worker finished with the moss on the roof, I saw him blowing out the gutters with a leaf blower. I went in the house for a while and when I came out everyone was gone. I went up to check the gutters, and the leaves and dried moss had been blow out, but there was still a lot of sand in the gutters, up to 1/2 inch in some places. The gutter on one side of the house was still not done. I called Ed again and he defended the job done saying "It's just a little sand!", and he didn't believe me that his guy missed a gutter. This was after his initial promise of "The gutters will be so clean you could eat out of them." I gave him a choice to either finish the job, or I was going to short pay by $50. He chose to be short paid. I have never in my life short paid someone for not completing a job until now. Maybe I'm too picky and others would not mind 1/2 inch of sand in their gutters after paying a premium price to get them cleaned, but I thought the job was not completed. Attached is a picture of the gutter that wasn't done, and a picture of the sand. I cleaned a small section of the gutter by pushing the sand up into a little pile to demonstrate how much sand was left for the photo.

They were good. They did everything they said they were going to do.

The work seemed to be going well but we did have keep pointing out defects in the gutter which needed repairing. Before his worker was even finished Ed stopped by requesting payment so I got the original bid. They then presented me with his new bill which instead the original bid of $1000 was over twice as much at $2400. He "hemmed and hawed" about needing more cedar shakes than anticipated. He did not inform me of the "revised" bid beforehand. I felt this was very unprofessional and I felt "ripped off" so I cannot recommend his company and will not be using him ever again.

The technician arrived when scheduled. Since the "deal" stated that only a spcific number of square feet were covered in the "deal." I asked if out roof was within the limits. The technician said it was. He cleaned the roof, applied the chemicals and cleaned the gutters. Upon completion I receive a call from his supervisor who said that he had to clean some large sections by hand that that I owed an extra $100. There was nothing in the fine print on the "deal" that spelled this out.

I purchased the Angie's List deal for roof cleaning in the summer. When I contacted Ed, he asked me some questions about my roof and it was discovered that I would need a little more cleaning then what the deal included. He also suggested that I wait until the weather had changed to ensure that the moss treatment used would kill actively growing moss. I contacted Ed again when it had been raining for about a month and he came out and surveyed my roof and provided me with an additional quote to treat for the moss growth. I felt he gave me a fair deal. His crew spent 1/2 a day cleaning my roof and gutters and, here a year later, no additional moss growth! He has put me in his calendar to contact me every 3 years for preventative maintenance.

It went well. The arrived when expected, completed the job in one day, and left the place clean.

I bought this as an Angie's Deal. The work was done in a timely and professional and thorough manner. My only complaint was that the price to really get the job done was quite a bit more than the Angie's Deal price. Had I been expecting that, I would have been completely satisfied with the work, but because I didn't see it coming I felt a little bit taken advantage of. Having said that, they did an excellent job on a very steep roof and we haven't had any moss problems since (it's been nearly a year, and we live in a heavily shaded area) and I intend to use them again in the future if the need arises.

They promptly returned my call set a time for an estimate. They were on time for the estimate and began and completed the work as we had agreed. Timely start and completion was a big factor for me choosing this company. I am pleased with the results-my deck looks like new!
