Kevin and his team at NW Surface Cleaner were great to work with. They responded quickly when I asked for a quote. They did a high quality job, and they even came back quickly after they were done because I wanted a tiny thing changed. I'll definitely continue working with them for roof maintenance and de-mossing.

Kevin was on time coming out to look at our project, thorough and professional in reviewing the work and informative as to their process. We chose to do the work ourselves based on the price, but feel that, given our interaction, this organization would have done good work.

Overall, very well. The only drawback was they should have been more careful moving the deck furniture. Otherwise, the were punctual, and it was a very good price.

Not the cheapest but worth the money for the quality of work.

NW Surface Cleaners sanded and stained / water proofed our cedar decks on June 4 – 6, 2018. The decks were previously power washed, so sanding and staining was all we hired NW Surface Cleaners for. We have a fairly large back deck with cedar railings, 2 front decks that are ipe, a cedar bridge and a gazebo. NW Surface Cleaners did an excellent job. Their work was meticulous and thorough. They were neat and cleaned up after the job each day. As an example, the back deck has a built in bench. The back of the bench had drip marks from the last time the deck was stained. They sanded down the boards so there remained very little sign of the drip marks on the back of the bench. The stain they put on and sanding has made our 20 year old back deck look almost new. We highly recommend NW Surface Cleaners for this type of work.

Beautiful job! We have used several other services before but this was definitely our best experience. I followed Kevin's advice and we are very pleased.

Very professional, good work ... i will use them again

The cleaning job left the deck dirtier than when they started! Absolute disaster. Furniture was not moved or cleaned underneath. You could see where the pressure washer made sweeps across the deck and you could see the parts where it was not cleaned at all. I stopped the project after the so-called cleaning and they didn't charge me.

Everything went great. The technician scrubbed the moss of the roof, cleaned out the gutters, rinsed them afterward and then raked up the debris. Also, fixed part of the gutter as requested in the quote.

NW Surface cleaner team was very thorough. They cleaned and treated our roof and it has never looked better. They also did a great job staining our back deck. They had a great selection for colors and products. The team was very knowledgable and was great at taking the time to explain the process of what they would be doing and why. Would definitely hire again!

Kevin and the crew at NW Surface Cleaner were excellent and professional. We had them resurface our deck this summer and had such a great experience, we decided to hire them back for a gutter cleaning and roofing treatment. Kevin was quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had. The crew showed up on time and was professional both times they came out. Cleaned up after themselves and were very nice. If you're looking for anything decking or roofing at a decent price and quality work, I couldn't recommend NW Surface cleaner enough.

The crew from NW Surface Cleaners definitely worked hard, and spent a lot of time on my deck. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the deck did not turn out as I expected: there remain swirl marks from their sander (see attached photo). I'll not speculate on the reasons why, but it seems that, in the end, while they mean well and were polite and worked hard, they lack the skill or technical know-how to sand a deck so that swirl marks (from the sanding machine) are not left behind. They sanded the entire deck twice. First time, the swirl marks were deep and widespread. Second time, the swirl marks were not as prominent, but still existed. And this despite my removing the swirl marks from one section of deck (their sander "put them back in" on the second sanding attempt). While I give high commendation to them on effort and politeness, next time I need my deck sanded, I will be finding a different company.

This is the first time we've written a poor review. We think it's important for prospective customers to know what we experienced so they can make an informed decision. Lunch wrappers, used sanding disks and an old deck board we had them replace were strewn in our backyard. The sanding portion of the job was declared "finished", with a side deck (that was part of the contract), left unsanded. When asked, they did go back and do the work. Not professional standards---but bearable. The biggest problem was that the entire deck was coated with the thinnest coat of stain possible. There are many areas where the stain barely covers the wood. We don't believe this work will last more than one season. We haven't had any of these problems with any other deck repair/cleaning contractors we've hired in the past. We cleaned up the mess ourselves, but asked the owners to come look at the deck coating. Kevin came right away which was very nice. However, he said the job was done perfectly. We asked Ed to come look at the deck, but he was only able/willing to communicate by email or text. He asked us to send pictures. We did not want to spend time photographing each area that was done poorly, especially when both Kevin and Ed told us in every communication that the job was done perfectly, it went beyond industry standards and there was no remedy they could (or would) do. In summary, our experience is that NW Surface Cleaners cannot be trusted to make the customer happy, but rather to do the bare minimum and call it "beyond industry standards". Additional note, this company also said we needed to have our 1-year old roof cleaned and treated, and they'd charge us almost $900. We checked with other contractors, including the roofers who put on the new roof. No one said it needed to be treated so soon.

The quality of the work was fine and they were responsive enough, but I think they charge more than the work is worth.

Ed came to estimate, we agreed. Took 3 days to wash, sand, stain.

Ed's team did not set a firm day/time they would show up so when they did show up it was a bit of a surprise. Otherwise they were quick and efficient with the work and the deck looks great.

Ed and his crew were fantastic. They were professional and very thorough. There was significant attention to detail. In the end the our 10 year old deck, which seemed have had minimal attention, looked amazing. Ed even sent his men over, days later, to help me move the large benches back onto the deck.

from first meeting with Ed it was a positive experience. Always prompt & extremely nice. Crews were hard working, very efficient & courteous. Porch & deck turned out beautiful. We love it. Like brand new.

The two workers, Fernando and Mario, were wonderful. They completed the job in a timely manner and cleaned up nicely after themselves. They also left a half a can of stain behind for touch-ups. They were great. I think the price was high and another time I might do more price checking, but they were referred to us by some friends whose deck looked great. So, it's on me for not checking the price more carefully.

Kevin responded quickly but informed me that his company is restricting its work to the (Portland) west side.
