Job was completed in a timely manner. The siding installers were a little rough on my cedar deck, broke the hot tub cover (NW was very fair and shared in the cover replacement cost) and a few other minor things but overall the quality of the installation was good. The painters were EXCELLENT. The paint job was better than expected. The project manager, Ken, was good to work with and made requested changes/upgrades to the original quote in a fair and timely manner. The new siding and paint looks great and I am very pleased overall with the cost and quality of the work.

This was quite an education. I got bids from 4 different companies and they varied widely for the same services. Since I couldn't justify not going with the lowest bidder, I did, and that was NW Siding. I liked that the person sent out to give the bid was not a slick sales guy (as a guy from another highly rated company on this site was beyond used-car salesman and REALLY bugged me). NW Siding answered all my questions and I didn't feel like I was getting a snow job. Even after they left the site, when I had questions and called them - which was a lot, they were always extremely responsive (thanks for putting up with me Jessica!). The job ran a little late due to weather but that was not their fault. They always called to let me know if something unexpected was going to happen so there were no unpleasant surprises. How refreshing! The foreman in charge of the painting (Jack) was especially good at communicating with me and always answered his cell phone when I needed to get a hold of him for something. I would definitely recommend these guys. With a siding job, I could have spent a significantly more money with the other guys, but I don't think I would have gotten a better result.

NW Siding was great to work with and did an excellent job. They worked with us around scheduling to coordinate with some concrete work, gutter replacement and vacation! The siding crew and the painting crew were all very courteous, professional and cheerful. They arrived promptly each day and cleaned up daily before they left. We had just had new concrete installed and they carefully covered it to protect it. Alex (siding crew leader) and Jack (paint crew leader) check with us about details and were great about making sure we were happy with everything. For example, they had finished the siding on one side of the house when we decided that we didn't need a vent (that they had carefully trimmed around), and they went back and re-did that section. One corner board was painted three times in three different colors before we decided which looked best. They were great throughout and cheerful about working through these details. The finish quality is excellent (although we aren't siding experts), it seems everything is flashed and sealed and we have yet to find even one drop of paint splatter. The house looks so good, we are now getting an estimate to have the crew come back to paint our gazebo to match.

Excellent experience. NW siding came out to look at my existing siding. They said most of the siding was fine and just needed to be painted. I scheduled the work and NW was able to come out within a week or so to start. Had some southern facing siding replaced and then the entire exterior of the house painted. Everything went like clockwork. Not a single issue. Highly recommend.

We had not planned on replacing siding, but were having our house exterior painted when the painters discovered the bad siding. Our painting contractor, Sisu Painting (which is also great, and highly recommended), referred us to NW Siding and coordinated the painting job with the replacement of the siding. NW Siding was on the case quickly, which we needed, and their project manager Ken Feldman was knowledgeable, very good at communicating what he proposed to do, and was the epitome of professionalism in all his dealings with us. The work mostly occurred while we were not at home, but turned out just great. We were particularly pleased with the beam replacement -- this was a fairly major (and big) horizontal support beam holding up our roof overhang, which had developed significant rot. Replacing it was somewhat tricky, but it turned out really nicely. Ken coordinated with Nancy, one of the owners of Sisu and the one we dealt with most, to get both the siding and painting done smoothly. The one minor complaint we had was that the workers replacing the siding on our dormers apparently dropped some roofing/siding nails and failed to clean them all up, which led to our finding a few with our feet. Not a big deal, and when we mentioned it to Ken he offered to send a crew out just to look for stray nails! We didn't take him up on it, but the fact he made the offer speaks well of NW Siding's commitment to customer service.
Description of Work: Replaced some failed LP siding (some boards on our dormers, plus the entire chimney stack) and replaced a support cross-beam that holds up the roof overhang outside our back door.

I sent them pictures and asked them to do the siding right away due to the upgrade being tied into a refinance of the house. They put me on the schedule quickly, gave me a price based on the photographs and a short discussion over the phone. They completely understood what I needed to the detail, and did a very professional installation in a single day while I was at work. It's nice to come home to a job well done. Price was higher than I wanted but, understanding a bit about siding myself, they installed a very good system that should protect the home for years and years. Only negative - a few of the nails heads stuck out a tiny bit, but I'll fix that myself with a tap of the hammer.

We had 24 year old siding on our house that was something similar to LP. It was cracked and failing, particularly on the front of the our house. After getting 3 bids, we chose NW Custom Exteriors (NW Siding) to replace the siding on three sides of our house. We met Jeff Hallen at the Home and Garden Show and he followed up with us after the show. We felt like we got very good information when he came to prepare the estimate which he sent to us via email a few days later. After we chose NW Siding, Jeff did a great job in helping us pick the siding. We decided from the beginning that we would use Hardiplank and there aren't tons of choices from their but we were replaicng a dutch lap siding that was somewhat unique so we were being a little picky. We ended up choosing a siding called "Rustic" and we chose a 5 inch reveal. The smaller reveal added $200.00 to the price but it was well worth it. Because Jeff took the time to help us pick the right siding, we are very happy with the result. We were put on their schedule and from there everything went like clockwork. The three men who actually put the siding on worked steady and knew just the right amount of siding to take off and replace each day and somehow missed any significant rain. They obviously know their job well. It took a little over a week to get the siding on and then it took another week or so to get a break in the rain to get the house painted. And then it was done. There were a few small almost nitpicky things (like the porch light was crooked) that we went over with Jeff after the job was completed and he was more than happy to get it done they way we wanted. They clearly stand behind their work and we wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. In fact, they make us think we might want to hire more work done around our house. Thanks to Jeff, Ken and the NW Siding team. Our house looks great.

We had major damage to our cedar siding from flickers. On the exposed west side of the house, three windows, which no longer opened, and a leaking sliding door all generated lots of heat in the summer from their metal frames and non-energy efficient glass. The whole process was excellent from start to finish. Jeff and Ken made several trips, together, to our home before and during the project. They were congenial, attentive to our needs and patiently provided thoughtful responses to our many questions. They did a thorough inspection of our home and made an evaluation. They provided various options, discussing the pros and cons of each. That really helped us make a sound, informed decision. We were impressed with their candor. They could easily have suggested replacing all our siding but, instead, said the rest was in good condition. The crew was very friendly. Occasionally, they would sing while working which, as a musician, I thoroughly enjoyed. They were efficient, thorough and their craftsmanship was first-rate. And they cleaned up the area at the end of each day. Jeff gladly made several solo trips to our home when questions arose. He also went above and beyond the call of duty by sawing off the tops of our nine deck posts which enabled us to install much needed caps. It was not an easy job. The wood was extremely hard and dense. At our ages, we could never have done that ourselves. We highly recommend Northwest siding!

Painted entire exterior of home. Stabilized our extensive deck by nailing multiple areas which had become unsteady.

Every step of the way with Northwest Siding contractors was excellent. I couldn't speak more highly about the process. I've worked with another contractor in the past for another project, and that experience was subpar. Right from the outset, our project manager Ken came out and worked with us from the initial review and bid right through til the end of the project. What I liked about this approach was that there was no 'handoff' from sales to the operations, which often results in things being missed or promises being made that aren't kept. Ken heard our issues up front, evaluated the situation, provided a number of different alternatives for both the siding and the windows, discussed the pros and cons and really helped us whittle down to a final decision that both met our budget and needs and goals. For the siding portion, we also wanted to wire new lights on the house, which required an electrician. SInce I have one that I love using, we requested to have them work with him. Ken and his team were more than happy to, and according to our electrician, Ken and his team were incredibly professional, helpful, efficient and excellent to work with. He actually said that he was so impressed with their work that he would recommend them to others in the future! Ken's team was outstanding. Efficient, so friendly, thoughtful and thorough, they placed the windows and did the siding so quickly and efficiently with no mess (they cleaned up each day). Ken came by multiple times while the team was onsite to make sure everything was working OK, and when there were some unexpected situations (some rotting trim boards) were identified, they quickly brainstormed solutions and came up with great remedies without impacting the total price. The result is absolutely spectacular. The windows are gorgeous- elegant and high quality. We have a historic house, but the new windows match so nicely that our neighborhood has all commented on how lovely they look. The deck is magnificant. The Hardishingles look like shake shingle but will last a lifetime. The new look with the board and batton Hardiboards match our tudor style house and give it a new, elegant look. The icing on the cake came when, about a month later, we saw that the extreme summer weather had caused a couple of the trim boards to shrink. I called Ken, they came out immediately, thought through some options with me, and fixed it all immediately. Absolute customer service. I can't recommend Ken and his team more highly. The process was perfect from start to finish, the price was fantastic and the work was flawless.
Description of Work: We had 2 major jobs performed by the company- we had all of our windows (5 windows) replaced on the front of our house, and then also had all of the shake shingle siding removed and replaced on the back side of our house with hardiboard siding. For the windows, we chose beautiful LBL gridded windows with wood composite interior look and screens. For the exterior back of the house, we choose to do a shake-shingle look on the lower 1/2 of the house and a board-and-batton (tudor style look) on the upper 1/2 of the house. For the windows, the services included removal of the windows, opening a couple of the window openings wider to accomodate the larger windows, placing the windows and doing all the touch-up paint. For the siding, the services included removal of the siding, adding insulation wherever there needed some, putting in the moisture barrier and siding, painting all of the new siding and flashing, and replacing the window trim in a couple spots where it had rotted from prior wear. (we ended up not needing much insullation, so this cut the final price down by about $500)

Throughout the process NW Siding was amicable, worked with us in a friendly and solution-oriented way, and saved us money and time where they could while providing the best installation, flashing, side caulking and window installing and flashing that is to code, and to the latest standard. (For instance, Hardi siding state-of-the-art is to have individual flashing between each butt joint, wherever two pieces of siding meet - no caulk, so lower maintenance (never replace caulk) and water escapes naturally running down the seam but protecting the sheething and wrap material by being flashed)This is the reason I went with NW Siding - value for the money. They were not the cheapest bid, but with a major investment, and a million dollar property ... did we want to go with the cheapest outfit. That would be an obvious, "no".The follow through after the job was thorough, they cleaned up, hauled off and put back everything (including fixtures that may have been damageds, like exterior lighting) and did so without hesitation. In all, they went above the bid, did replacement of boards on decks not even part of the scope when discovered, and made us feel like they cared about the success of the project as much, if not more than we did (given our limited knowledge of some aspects). That is what you want from a professional firm, and that is what NW Siding delivers.I would recommend their work without hesitation, for your commercial project, your home siding or window project or even their exterior paint crew, did an excellent job using 25 year Sherwin Williams Superpaint. My wife and I are happy that our building is wrapped, tight-and-right and we expect low, to no maintenance issue with the exterior shell for many years to come.Thank you NW Siding.
Description of Work: NW Siding Contractors did a complete Hardi-plank re-siding of our 10-plex commercial building in Southwest Portland, Oregon. They also had to re-sheath a bunch (we're talking 40+ sheets of 4 x 8 sheathing) of rotted CDX behind the original cedar siding, and even replace some rotted structural 2 x 4's to code (as per City of Portland, permit and inspector/inspection). In addition to 10 new windows we had to install on the South side of our building, they also included in their bid to reset 20 Windows on the North side of the building (correctly install, and correclty flash as they were not installed properly originally by the previous owner) In addition, we added more siding work at the peak of the building, more coverage due to removal of brick columns along the side of the building, and 6 more windows as change orders.

NW siding did an excellent job of communicating with us from start to finish. We had a couple surprises (dry rot/electrical repairs) and they would call us at work to talk us through our options. They kept the area very clean and when they left at night, everything was put away in a trailer. They are very fast (this project was completed in 4 days) but we never felt they were rushing to get things done. We had a great experience with NW siding and would recommend them to anyone having siding/window repairs done on their house.

We were extremely happy with Northwest Siding's fast responsivenes to our problem, the quality of their work, and the amount we paid. They happened to have a crew in our town working on a fence project that very morning, and were able to pull them off the fence project to work on our house in the afternoon. It was a very rainy day, and we were so relieved the exposed area could be repaired right away. I watched almost the entire repair process to see for myself the extent of the rot, and was very impressed with the quality of work performed by John. He worked continuously, carefully, and quickly during the driving rain to determine the extent of the problem, remove the rotted areas, and replace with new materials. We have cedar siding, which can be somewhat brittle and break when separating one piece of siding from another. John was obviouly very skilled and experienced and amazingly, didn't break or crack any of the surrounding siding when he was prying nails and taking materials off the rotted areas. He was very thorough determining the extent of the rot, and verifying that the surrounding area was sound. I appreciated his approach of taking off one piece of siding at at time so we didn't have to replace more than what was needed. We would highly recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: This project started on Nov. 18-19, 2009, when our window installers, Henderson and Daughter (H&D), found dry rot around and below a window they were replacing. Unfortunately, H&D did not wish to repair the rotted area because they thought it might be extensive. They went ahead and installed the new window, but left a portion of the rotted area exposed with only tyvek house wrap covering it. H&D told us we needed to find another contractor to repair the area. We were very concerened about leaving the area exposed to the wind and rain, so the very next day on Nov. 20th, I called Northwest Siding to ask for a repair estimate. They responded immediately, coming to our house within the hour to evaluate the problem and give me an estimate for the work. They returned at 1:00pm to repair the area. John with Northwest Siding methodically worked his way down and around the window one piece of siding at a time to determine the extent of rotted sheathing. He then removed the rotted materials and replaced with new plywood sheathing and preprimed cedar siding. He placed a flexible membrane under and next to the window (he had to pull the window out slightly to place the membrane under the window and then move the window back), placed metal flashing under each siding joint, and caulked everything thoroughly.
