Specktacular Home Remodeling is based on our solid commitment to professionalism coupled with extensive experience in planning, design and remodeling. We started our company in 1992. Both Mitch and Debbie Speck maintain national certifications in remodeling and both of our daughters are now part of our business as well. We are licensed lead based paint renovators (LBPR82147) and we have a certified asbestos inspector on staff. Oregon CCB License #:82147. This is our second time working with Specktacular Home Remodeling and we couldn't be happier! We hired them to come in and replace our homes original, aluminum windows from the 1980s and we are thrilled with the results. The interior and exterior finishes really change the look and feel of our home and the windows are great! We really enjoy not having to deal with drafts during the winter. The Specktacular crew is always just that, Specktacular. They are punctual, respectful, CLEAN, and do great work. Plus they are wonderful with our pets! They always say 'hi' to our dogs and make sure our indoor cat stays inside. We can't wait to use Specktacular Home Remodeling on future projects. They are the ONLY company we call and recommend to our friends. And there is a reason for that.. You just can't get anyone better.

The work and craftsmanship was awesome. Mitch and Katie went above and beyond to keep us ahead of schedule. Their ability to solve problems as they came up saved us a lot of time and money. Specktacular has a great team of sub contractors that show up and get done when they are supposed too.

I was so pleased with the work that Mitch and his team did for my home. They completely redid my entire kitchen. They took me shopping and kept me in the loop about everything. I came out with a beautiful modern kitchen. Its so cool to see the final picture on their website still today. They removed a wall and opened up the space giving me an island kitchen which I have always wanted. They installed all new cabinets, appliances, flooring and railing on my stairs. Beyond the beautiful kitchen they left me with I also felt like I made some good friends. That was proven just a few months ago when I was desperate for a decking contractor and I called them for a reference and they stepped up and did the job for me. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants an excellent return on their investment.

They were very quick and efficient, not to mention it looks fabulous.
I called them in a panic when I discovered my deck was rotten and I was about to host a party for 50+ people. We had used them in the past to completely remodel our kitchen and knew they were good people and would be able to suggest someone that could do decking. I was so relieved when he said he could do it. He also told me to stay off and away from it because he was worried about my safety. I know they were really busy but he treated me like family and found the time to fit me in before the party.

Working with Specktacular Home Remodeling was a wonderful experience. We had never undertaken a remodel and this was a large scale project, so we were initially nervous. Mitch and his team supported us through the whole process. They listened carefully, explained options thoroughly, made design changes when we asked and worked to meet our needs at every step of the way. I enjoyed the process of working with designers before the project began to decide on layout, materials and design elements. The design professionals were very helpful in providing me with choices that matched my vision for the design. They found materials and options that I didn't know existed and yet were just perfect for our needs. Mitch was an excellent contractor and an absolute pleasure to work with. He was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, organized and communicative. I was impressed by how well he and his crew stayed on top of the project timeline. After hearing so many stories about remodels dragging on for months, I was impressed when Mitch finished the majority of the project ahead of schedule! Work was completed to very high standards of quality and perfection. Every detail was attended to with care. Mitch and his crew were always friendly to work with, professional in their interactions and clearly experienced in their craft. Every night I would come home to a spotlessly clean work space, which is quite a feat when your kitchen has been gutted! I always trusted that our home was in good hands with Mitch and his crew. The finished remodel is just Specktacular and has made our home beautiful. I highly recommend Specktacular Home Remodeling to anyone undergoing a remodel.

Mitch and his team did an awesome job from the very beginning. Not only was the scope of working adjusted along the way but every aspect of his and his teams work was very professional and on par with how we imagined our home in the end. The project consisted of literally tearing out walls and removing everything right down to the studs. Mitch and his team were a pleasure to work with during the process of remodeling our kitchen, bathroom and laundry room. They displayed exceptional work ethics and standards throughout the process a rare quality in today?s contractor world. Mitch chooses his immediate staff, including his subcontractors with the utmost care. They are there when they?re supposed to be and perform outstanding work.
The attention to detail is fabulous and you don?t have to worry something is getting missed. Should any issue arise you can rest assured it will be handled to your complete satisfaction. We are so happy to have worked with Mitch Speck and Specktacular Home Remodeling to create an awesome retreat at our Mt. Hood cabin that we will enjoy for years to come. He understood exactly what we were hoping to achieve and made it happen with relative ease (at least for us ?).

We had Specktacular Home Remodeling out to help give our 1980's home a face-lift. From our first appointment, Mitch listened to our wants and needs and tailored a project that gave us the most for our budget.
Throughout our project we had a clear line of communication with the Specktacular team. Everyone was very respectful of our home, belongings, and pets. We really appreciated how clean they were, too!

We are very pleased with the new look of our house, and feel that the money and time we spent on this project was really worthwhile. We lived in the house for 23 years with someone else's wallpaper and paint, so we were more than ready to have the work done. We chose SHR after meeting with Mitch and discussing what we wanted. Mitch took considerable time making sure we were all talking about the same thing, and then gave us a detailed breakdown of costs and the steps necessary to get the work done. There were no surprises. SHR is not the lowest-priced company one could get, but the quality of our remodel was worth the price we paid. (And according to an unsolicited comment made to us by one of the subcontractors, SHR is not the most expensive company either, but this person felt the workmanship was the best of the companies the sub worked for, and that Mitch was the most honest of the contractors this person was professionally associated with.) Mitch and the decorator that was part of our project made some very helpful suggestions that made a big difference to the end result. For example, the decorator suggested changing all of the old trim out. We are glad that we trusted her judgment, even though this was not part of our original plan.
Mitch himself did most of the painting and all of the carpentry at out house. We let him use our garage to stage his tools and supplies, and had a storage unit at the curb for our own possessions. This was a very intrusive project, but we managed well by having clear communication with Mitch and the subs. Mitch called every morning to tell us when he would be there, or when to expect the subs.
We are planning on having the lower level of our house done soon, and we are definitely going to get SHR to do the work again for us.

Mitch spent quite a bit of time with us to make sure he understood our wishes. He and his wife assisted us in color, floor design and much more. He presented the design in a 3D computer model which showed us it from all angles. It gave us a good picture of what the finished project would look like. He provided references from other jobs he had done close to us. We visited these and could see the high level of quality work they did. I would recommend This company to those that want a top quality job done. When we are ready to finally start the project, we would put this company at the top of the list to do the work for us,

We found Specktacular Home Remodeling at a Home and Garden show in Portland shortly after our marriage in the summer of 2008. We interviewed home re-modelers as well as architects and decided Mitch and Debbie Speck could do the best work for us and would be the easiest to work with. We started work in October 2008 and Mitch promised us we would be back in our home by mid-March. (Due to tearing apart 75% of the house from one end to the other, we decided to find a nearby apartment. We did not regret that decision.) They both worked with us to pick out all the details (sinks, plumbing fixtures, granite counters in the kitchen, back splash materials, etc.) and listened carefully to our thoughts and desires. They added their thoughts and helped us avoid mistakes. They allowed us to save money by letting us do the daily cleanup and the painting and allowing Bonnie to do some demo and other work. Despite that winter being one of the snowiest in decades (our street had two feet of snow for several weeks) the work was done on schedule. Mitch had given us a day-by-day schedule at the beginning and kept it up to date every week. Since this was an older home there were minor problems discovered, such as dry rot under the toilets, but these were handled in stride and never kept us from our completion date. During the initial remodel I (Charlie, the husband) decided to get sick enough to be apartment bound most of the time and to be eventually hospitalized for a few months. Bonnie (the wife) was able to care for me as necessary, and keep up with the remodel thanks to the Specks and their subs. We recommend them to anybody we know.
Bonnie gets to speak now: I worked with Mitch and his terrific crew almost every day doing demo, clean up and getting opportunities to drill and nail from time to time. I also primed and painted-two coats-every square inch of that remodel. What I really appreciate about Mitch is the good relationship Charlie and I had with him. Mitch always gave me time when I had concerns with the remodel plans. He could explain the reason or code as to why he was doing something a certain way. A couple of time, I asked for the plans to be changed because I didn't like how a certain area was going to turn out, Mitch was always accommodating. Near the end of the remodel I was lamenting to Mitch that I should have thought about having heat in the shower/toilet area of the master bath. He said no problem, he would install a fan with a heater in it. This is the best thing ever as we can warm the bathroom only and not the entire house on chilly mornings. The subcontractors Mitch brought in were all good to work with and we felt comfortable turning our house over to them.

We had met them at a trade show, recognized them from prior community service work we both had done. These folks came in the evening to discuss ideas for the remodel and gave us a comprehensive estimate. They were very professional, appeared experienced and had no negative reports so we decided to give them a try. They shared a schedule of the work to be done for the week so we knew what to expect. They communicated daily on progress, they showed up promptly, they left the worksite as clean as possible and they did a terrific job. No surprises, no disappointments.
