Feedback/review. For a company with such great prices and products, you’d think they’d lack in other areas. That’s not the case. This company is highly responsive to their clients needs. Their scheduling process is immaculately quick, fun and easy and you’re even sent a link to track your service technician when they’re on the way to your job. From the recommendation apt, to the quote (which was a great price compared to 5 other companies) to the installation-every person involved went above and beyond to address any question and wishes. I wish I could use them for every other service I needed. Thank you Trantel Services.

Let me start by saying that it takes a lot to rub me the wrong way. I am very laid back and easy going. I get along with everyone and typically do not care much if work is not done 100% perfect. But, my experience Trantel Heating and Cooling was one of THE WORST I have ever dealt with. Overall, it was a very painful experience working with Scott that I still do not have closure on. Scott came to us through our home warranty with American Home Shield. The entire process, from removal of the old furnace to the installation of the new furnace took weeks. Sometimes it took Scott days at a time just to respond to my phone calls. He was consistently late showing up for the job, sometimes as much as half the day. He would say that he would be there in the morning and then not show up until late in the afternoon as though my time (I am employed and had to plan my day around when he would show up) was not important. Some of the work he did was just simply lazy. He left the old exhaust system in the ceiling because he didn't feel like taking it out. He ran the new exhaust pipe out the side wall into the front entry way of my house where it fills my courtyard with gas. It is not properly capped off either so every time it rains (and we live in Oregon so it does happen to rain from time to time), the pipe fills with rain water then then back fills straight into the furnace itself. I have had two addition heating and cooling companies come look at it and both told me that it was not only "lazy" work but it will "drastically shorten the life of the furnace" having that much water leak back into it. I have contacted Scott several times over the last 3 years since he did the work and at first he told me that he refused to do anything about it because it is to code and would be to much work to change and now he just simply won't respond to me. I also had an inspector come out and found out that Scott never pulled permits for the furnace. The inspector also noted that the courtyard smelled like gas and that the exhaust line should be moved because of not only the gas coming into the courtyard but because it was filling with water. To this date, Scott still refuses to get the permits for me that I paid him to get. Because I had to get a new furnace, it made the AC unit that I had not compatible with the new one. I ended up having to buy a new AC unit as well (which was by no fault of Scott) so I also had Scott wire the new furnace to be "AC ready" for the following summer when I would be purchasing the new unit. At that point, Scott called me and asked for the business. I have to give him credit for having the nerve to actually ask for more business after doing such a poor/incomplete job the first go round. When I told him that I had gone with a different company to install the AC unit, he became extremely irate and was not acting in the way one would expect a business owner to act (especially if they are trying to earn future business). To this day, I am still waiting for my permit, replacement of the gas exhaust, and a proper cover over the exhaust. At the end of the day, I would recommend staying as far away from Scott Trantel Heating and Cooling as you can. If they are referred to you, ask for a new referral and question the person who referred them to you.

Scott Trantel Heating & Cooling installed a heat pump for our cooling and heating needs. He seemed to really want our business, and answered all our questions. His proposal listed a 95% efficient model, and the model he installed was only 93%. His written proposal promised a Honeywell thermostat, and he installed a different model. When brought to his attention, he did not admit to any discrepancies. The heating unit has always performed well. The problem was installation of the cooling system which failed every single summer for 4 years straight, on the first day the temperature hit 75 degrees. It has required several major repairs since Trantel worked on it. The diagnosis from the latest contractor seems to be that the unit was incorrectly installed in at least three respects. First, Trantel installed it without a fossil fuel kit, which possibly caused some of our problems. Second, the unit?s refrigerant leaked out of a supposedly closed system, which contributed to the cooling system failing twice. I took these problems up with Trantel and the unit?s manufacturer, feeling it was not my responsibility to pay to replace very expensive refrigerant on an annual basis. The manufacturer paid for most of Trantel?s parts and labor to repair the unit. Finally, the compressor failed after less than 6 years of use, possibly due to the way that it was installed. After the 4th summer that I called him for repairs, Trantel stopped returning my phone calls, and I was not able to reach him through his office. We won?t be using his company again.

Scott installed a new gas furnace in my house. His helper forgot to connect the fan motor, so it didn't work, and Scott did not test the unit before he said it was done. Then I got the inspection, and the inspector was amazed to find that Scott had failed to build a filter into the system. Very shoddy work, very unprofessional. I would not hire Scott under any circumstances.

We found Trantel thru our home owners warranty company. When I called he was unavailable but calle back quickly. The fan motor for our unit was out, he was able to determine this fairly quickly, ordered a new one and got it replaced with in just a few days. Scott was very friendly and easy to work with.

Overall, the experience has been excellent. I usually refer Scott to my clients, and he has done work for me in the past. I’ve been very satisfied with his responsiveness to my needs, his pricing, and with the finished product. He’s also trustworthy and reliable.

I couldn't have hoped for quicker or better service. In both cases, Scott was very quick to respond, and I was very pleased with the both the service, the quality of the new furnace, and the price.
Description of Work: I've been very happy with Scott Trantel. I called him during an emergency in 2005 when a furnace at one of my rental properties failed during an ice storm on a holiday weekend. It was a nightmare. The tenants had been out of town and arrived home to find that the plumbing pipes, which were in the attic, had frozen and burst, and the kitchen ceiling had collapsed. Scott came out immediately and assessed the situation. He quickly replaced the furnace at a very reasonable cost. I called him again in 2008 and asked him to replace a furnace at another rental--this time not an emergency--just a proactive replacement.

I contacted Scott on Sunday night and explained my problem to him. He was willing to walk me through several troubleshooting steps over the phone to try and attempt to fix the problem. Even though I wasn't able to fix the issue after his help, I appreciated the effort. Scott came to my house early Monday morning and had the problem fixed in under an hour. He saved me $200 by fixing my furnace motor rather than replacing it; this tells me that he is an honest and trustworthy person. I would hire him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Repaired my furnace, an air opening on the motor was plugged with rust, preventing the igniter from starting.
