Tim arrived promptly, he was quick and very personable. It is the first time my garden sink has worked correctly since I purchased it over seven years ago. Multiple people have "fixed" it but it was useless. Now it works great! I have his business card stashed in my valuable vendors binder.

They took care of the work. They seemed reliable and they were easy to communicate with.

The work was fine. I was not too thrilled with the salesman. I was upset by his tactics. They also forced us into a subcontractor to pour a concrete pad which did not get finished completely. They then would not resolved the subcontracted work which I was also unimpressed by.

They were very professional. I have not had the project done yet and I may end up going with them.

Called and got a prompt appointment to auger my toilet. During the service call, we discovered that the water valve to the toilet was disintegrating (found little bits in the flush valve), so he replaced the valve as well. The valve developed a slight leak (very minor, a drip every few hours) which they came back to fix/seal right away. He explained everything as he went, very professional. It was a very good experience.

called for an appointment, calll answered promptly and professionally - date for next day. the plumber arrived on time, and was very professional. even explained what he was doing - which i always appreciate. the job was competed in a timely and efficient manner. asked him if he would be able to adjust the drain in our guest bath, and he did so willingly. all in all a very positive experience.

One person showed up as promised. He was very polite and did point out some mistakes in the plumbing assembly. He did a good job in his work. I would recommend this company.

We called Standard Plumbing & Heating because they had earned our trust in two previous visits on different services. Don sent Tim to our rescue the same day we called. Tim replaced parts, augured lines, adjusted function and tested performance until the toilets worked just fine. Before he left, Tim gave us a heads-up on what new toilets would run but he never pressured us to select the more expensive option. He didn't mention new toilets until the old ones were repaired and then only after I asked. The morning after the work was completed one of the toilets would not shut off. I called Don who said that Tim would be out in the afternoon to see what the problem was. A few minutes after hanging up, Don called back to ask if I wanted to repair the problem myself. If not, no problem, Tim would be right out. Don suggested that it was an easy fix and it might be a good idea to learn how since we've got old pipes (and toilets) and repeated visits by Tim can be expensive. It took about 5 minutes for Don to walk me through the repair. Three weeks after the repairs the toilets continue to work flawlessly but the next time we need service on the toilets or anything else related to plumbing or heating, we will call Don & Tim at Standard Plumbing & Heating. We trust them to do great work and give excellent advice. Tim was right when he said, "If people trust you, they will call you back."

Tim was friendly, prompt, and professional. Not only did he do the work efficiently and cleaned up everything afterward, he also explained the details of what he was doing and why. We called Standard Plumbing & Heating for a bid on repiping our home which we expected to cost between five and ten thousand dollars. Standard owner, Don Alton, helped us understand that our problem was a deteriorating water heater. The absence of rust in the water lines or leaking pipes were indicators that the repipe project was less urgent than we believed. Don's experience and knowledge were pivotal in assisting our informed decision. He answered questions we didn't know we should be asking. The man is a walking encyclopedia of plumbing and home maintenance knowledge. After discussing various options, we decided to replace our water heater and garbage disposal as well as to install quarter turn on/off valves for the washer. Before Don left, he repaired our kitchen faucet at no charge. Two days after Don came by, his son, Tim Alton, completed the work. Tim was punctual, friendly and professional. Like his father, Tim has decades of experience. Tim's work and attitude confirmed our belief that we picked the right company for the job. When the job was complete, Tim cleaned thoroughly and presented a detailed statement. We will have Standard Plumbing & Heating Co. back when we have additional plumbing projects. We highly recommend this father and son company to you for your plumbing needs.

These guys are great! They were very professional, polite, punctual, conscientious, and competent. I have no idea how much plumbing is supposed to cost, but since it's so hard to find conscientious, competent contractors these days, I really don't care. These guys have my business forever!

I came to know about Standard Plumbing & Heating Co service through Angie’s list. They did a good job. Their price was high. The quality of work was fine. I would not use their service in the future.

The job went smoothly and the plumber clean up after himself and left no mess. The old toilets were my responsibility to remove. The plumber was here for about three hours before he was all finished. This is the second time I have used this company.

The father and the son run the company. I spoke to the father and he said that everything would be fixed. Then the son showed up to fix the faucets. He probably knew that the tile would crack because it was very old and he never said a word about it and then when it cracked, he said that we had to replace it. They did a decent job but their price was outrageous. Their price was too high. The quality of work was excellent. He was responsive and punctual. I probably would not use them again in the future.

This was my second experience with Don and Tim with our on-going remodel of our 1949-built house. If you missed my first post, I will summarize to say that without Don's time, care and kindly suggestions I would never have completed the first portion of work without many headaches and expense as he was incredibly helpful and went far beyond my expectations in helping me transform my unfinished attic space into a master bedroom/bathroom oasis. This time was no different - armed with the confidence that Don and Tim would be there to help me each step of the way, I embarked on a complete gutting of the main bath/shower and sink, knowing that they would help with their expert advice and professionalism. For me, they are worth their weight in gold as they allow me to do my DIY work while they calmly adjust and keep their schedule flexible - with stops and starts with my demo work between Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years they were very accommodating and did the work that was necessary as my schedule permitted. In the end, I have a completely new bathroom remodel that in my estimation saved me around $10,000 because I had the confidence that Don and Tim could work with my convoluted schedule and allow me time to do the demo and finish work myself, which I appreciate tremendously. As far as price, please note that the cost listed not only includes complete re-plumbing of the shower, bath, and sink, but also the cost AND of installation of the tub, toilet, and shower/sink fixtures which is an incredible value. Standard Plumbing is the only company I will ever call as long as I reside in the Portland area - they ARE that good. I can't say enough good things about them, so give them a call and find out for yourself!

First Don came to my house and listened to what I had in mind for the kitchen remodel. I got estimates from other plumbers who listened to what I was describing, and said "OK, I'll do that". Don listened to what I said, but he HEARD what I wanted, and said "OK, here's what I suggest, and why". In every case, his knowledge and imagination yielded a better result than I could have pictured. It's good when a contractor finishes the job, and you say "yeah, this is what I wanted". It's so much better when the job is done and you think "this is WAY better than I had planned!" That's how I feel about this job. Don was especially accommodating in working around my sometimes quirky custom cabinetry. Anyway, Don took out the appropriate permits, and he and Tim came at the appointed time, worked cleanly and efficiently, and finished in the time estimated. During the process, Don noticed a couple of unrelated plumbing issues that he resolved without any extra charge. He arranged for the city's rough-in inspection, which was a breeze. Today after Tim completed the job, Don called and arranged for the final inspection, which will take place tomorrow. I have absolutely no qualms about how that will go. In short, Don's estimate was higher than others, but he delivered more, and I'm glad of it. His is the kind of experience and expertise that is the reason we hire professionals to do a job. I recommend his services.
