The technician had an old unused thermostat on his truck, leftover from another job. He installed it, saving my husband a trip to the hardware store and several hours of fiddling! We were grateful, even though the freebie doesn't function perfectly - hey, it was free, and we were warm again. I will definitely use this company again when we need more service. They scheduled us quickly, and the coupon covered all our cost.

The service turned out just fine. They did a good job and got the work done fast.

Their service was awesome as always. They proide a personal service. I get an email saying who is coming and have been able to work with the same person on multiple occasions which is nice.

They were good for the most part. The work was good and the installation was of a good quality. He did what he said he would do with one exception. The filter canister that was installed was not the one that was supposed to be installed. I called and asked that it be changed and he came out and fixed that issue promptly and at no charge.

So -- again with my animals (see A+ Carpet Cleaning review regarding the zoo that is my house, still looking for somebody who wants a lovely 4 year old spayed female cat who can't get along with my other cats, but I digress). My doofus 11-month old German Shepherd chews _________ <<< insert noun there because she chews anything and everything. She chewed thru the A/C insulation and wires and it was actually warm the whole week of the Rose Festival (can you say Global Warming? I knew you could). After an attempted self-repair didn't work, we called Specialty based on their Angie's List ratings. I gave them a B for responsiveness only because I called after hours and was told a scheduler would call me right away the next day but I hadn't heard from them by Noon so I had to call again. However, both the after-hours message taker and everybody else were super nice and pleasant to work with. Greg was to arrive between 3-5 (closer to 5) but showed up at 2 so that was GREAT. He was a nice guy, showed me how even though we connected red-to-red and white-to-white outside at the unit, the previous Nameless company connected green and yellow at the inside furnace (who knew?) so that was a quick fix. He then showed me how empty the unit was and then, even though I hadn't asked for this in my schedule, I asked if he had time to install our new thermostat, which he happily did which probably saved us some grief since some jumper wire wasn't there and we never would have figured it out. I give them a B for price only because there was a $20 Angie's List coupon, but I didn't have time to go through the proper channels to Buy-It-Now then schedule later and I didn't get my coupon discount :-( Don't you love it when people don't follow the rules and then complain anyhow?

We are very pleased with the service received from Specialty Heating and Cooling. From the initial contact through the finishing up....everyone was courteous, professional and accommodating to our needs... dog in the house and needing work scheduled by a particular date. Receptionist very patient and clear with her answers to my questions about the maintenance contracts and helping us decide the most efficient level. Technician explained clearly what he would be doing. Kept me informed at decision points in the process and gave tips for maintenance between technician visits. And most importantly, the air conditioner seems to be functioning properly and efficiently! Will definitely continue to use Specialty Heating & Cooling.

We called on June 6th because we heard rattling when the house fan ran and smelled something burning. The tech who came out the same day, Greg, thoroughly checked the system and concluded that the motor was going. (BTW, we used the Angie's List coupon for $20 off a diagnostic call!) He thought the burning smell might have been just dust burning off, but - after he left - we ran the system again and the smell was horrendous! We called back after hours and Dave said he'd start working on getting the part and scheduling the work. I called back at noon the next day and got some bad news: the service dept. was short-handed and we'd have to wait until Monday. It was going to be a LONG, HOT weekend! And I can't open the windows because of my allergies. Just a few hours later, however.... Imagine my surprise when the doorbell rang and Ryan from Specialty H&C was there ready to do the work! He did the job in less than an hour and a half, pleasantly answering ALL of my questions. Thanks to him, we're having a COOL weekend! Because we have a yearly service agreement with them (which includes furnace & A/C tune-ups), we got a $140 discount on the job. They've done many other HVAC jobs for us, even modifying a vent for our microwave.

If you want to go first class instead of coach, go with Specialty. From my salesman Bob to the two techs (Ryan and Andrew) that installed my system it was a great experience. I picked them based on the reviews here on Angie's List. The reviews were correct.

The entire process was handled professionally and as promised. They explained the cost of the system, available federal and state energy rebates/tax credits and expected cost savings. Based on our energy bills since the installation (in 6/2011) I would say they delivered on their promises. They weren't the lowest cost bid but I had prior good experience with them and the cost difference was not worth going with the other contractor

More than pleased with their service. They kept working on our system until it was perfect. When adjustments needed to be made they were willing to come back until we were pleased with the results. We had a slight "banging" in the heat pump and since it sat right next to our deck they installed extra insulation to quiet and when that didn't work they replaced the system. Wow! Everyone involved went above and beyond customer service. I've already recommended Speciality Heating to my neighbors. Wouldn't go any where else.

Such a bummer to move into a new house and have to quickly replace not one but two furnaces. I felt like the folks from Specialty were very honest and straightforward when it came to explaining pricing and options. Ended up going with middle of the road units and was very happy that I paid a bit extra for the wifi enabled control panels so I can adjust the temperature from my iPhone. Only slight downside is that we've had to call in for a few minor issues and it typically takes a few days for them to be able to come out. I think if something was seriously wrong though, they would be there really quick.

They are professional and they come when they say they will. When he was making recommendations, he advised I go with the cheaper option. I thought that was nice.

A family-owned business, I experienced excellent customer service from everyone I interacted with from the initial phone call to troubleshooting a HWH issue after the furnace install. The technician showed up on time and stayed until the job was finished. Even though it was after 6 PM when he finished, he programmed my new thermostat for me so I didn't have to read the user's guide. :-) They offered financing and will provide the paperwork for rebates. I would definitely recommend them.

It was a great experience. They showed up when they said they would. They explained the situations with our ducts. They educated us, it was helpful.

My office and art studio are in my garage where the furnace is. I like a steady fan blowing day and night. They tried to get the new furnace programmed correctly to do that. They brought in a specialist and he was able to program the furnace within a hour. It has been running flawlessly. They were very professional.

Our home is a two story Victorian with basement. Heating on main floor needed to extend to the upstairs and basement. Ducting was old and insufficient and needed to extend to the second floor. We researched several vendors for this work mostly using Angie's List user reviews. After narrowing down, we settled in on Specialty mostly from the ratings but the lynch pin was the salesman, Mark P. He was so thoughtful in his presentation and seemed to get our job right away.. Pro's - Mark P., our contact initially, was not only a courteous salesman, he was most thorough. A pleasant disposition that lent itself to our trust. He saw solutions not presented by the others. He was attentive with timely follow through which lasts to this day. He answered emails promptly. He called promptly. His quote was spot on. When I asked about helping with a heat pump water heater which was not initially in our bid he did so promptly providing pricing and scheduling with no problems. Mark made the process easy peasy and oversaw the development with a smile and helpfulness that was very appreciated. Even when things went a bit off course due to adjustments in an unforeseen occurrence or two Mark was with us the whole way. At the end of our project, he came back to do a final chat and walk through and to this day we feel comfortable calling. But Mark was only a part of Specialty's strengths. From their administrative staff, installers, project manager, fine tuner guy, and Gary the teacher/other fine tuner guy, the team was respectful of us, our home, and each other. The phone calls went easily. All were helpful with schedule issues, or other concerns etc. Overall, no real crazy just great products, service and follow through. We waited to post to see how well our unit would perform and if issues arose how well would they respond because often it is the after that proves helpful as well and we wanted to talk about that too. So in that vein, recently the unit outside developed an issue. We called. They came out and ran diagnostics. A board needed replaced. The board was ordered. Took about a week. They called to switch out and no problems. So downstream they are just as thoughtful, caring and on top of it. We couldn't be more relieved. No job is perfect and ours was no exception though our issues seemed manageable and are hardly what typically can go wrong after reading some of the other Angie's List user reviews. But here are ours fyi - Cons: For example: The heat-pump location required the lines coming from the unit to be attached to the exterior of our home. This was unsightly to say the least and we asked what could be done. They not only took care of it without issue they made a cover for these lines and a paintable one to boot. So come spring we painted it out and it looks clean and will be easy to maintain going forward. For example: We would not schedule this type of job during the rainy season again. Even with booties, the workers had a hard time not tracking dirt. I would recommend to ask them to bring their mats large or small and remove their shoes when possible. They tried for sure despite tracking up and down three flights of stairs too. For example: Drilling holes in the walls for control units. I would ask them to place mats under their work to prevent wall board dust and shavings from falling and being tracked all over the home. This did not happen despite my request. For example: Cutting ceiling vents for rooms upstairs. I would ask them to hang plastic curtains to control & contain dust. And they did. In the end, we are pleased with Specialty Heating and would use them again.

Absolute great job. A professional operation, delivered on each and everything discussed up front. Couldn't be happier. Cory the sales rep did an especially thorough estimate, checked crawl and attic - listened to our concerns and offered options. We ended up getting what we thought was best for us from an array of options, advice and conversation. Really outdid the competition: we ended up getting three bids at the house. Installation team did a very good job. Company followed up to make sure that we were happy. They delivered ahead of schedule, worked with NW Natural and the CIty (permits, etc) making this completely hassle free.

It was a weekend service call and we could not get our insurance company to find a repair person to make the house call.We found them on Angie's list and made the call ourselves.The repair person arrived within the time frame,figured out the problem and gave us the details and the estimate within 15 minutes.Made the necessary repairs and did let us know it was a short term fix.We have insurance for appliances and therefore decided to go with them. But they did call us later and give us an estimate of costs if e decided to use them instead.

After the initial contact with this company, I can say we were impressed. Nic Sferrazza ([email protected]) came to our home, inspected our current system, and discussed our options. After getting us prequalified for financing and discussing options, scheduled our install. There were a couple of small hiccups as we wanted a smaller monthly payments, but those were quickly resolved. The office staff and Mark, General Manager were wonderful. On day of install Ryan arrived ontime and ready to get the job done. They replaced our old furnace and old Heat Pump, as well as a old thermostat. All of the old equipment was removed and the installers cleaned up after themselves. They took time to talk us through the operations of the new equipment. Specialty Heating also takes care of all the paperwork for state and federal credits as well as rebates so the homeowners do not have to worry if it is done correctly. Overall we were VERY VERY impressed with the professionalism of this company and will recommend them to friends and family.

Our heat pump began to leave is colder than we wanted during the recent cold snap in Sherwood. We called them to schedule a technician to solve the heat problem, as well as to answer our questions about our heat pump's performance last summer. Bill called ahead, arrived on time and answered all of the question we had. He also fixed our 'lack of heat" problem. I will share what I wrote to his company owner, and you will see how well things went: I am writing to sing the praises of Bill, the technician that came to help us with a heating problem on 1/23/2013. Bill represented the face of your company in an honest and professional way. He was very pleasant and presentable, and brought his intelligence with him to answer our questions. He was respectful of our intelligence and provided answers to our questions as ifhe was responding to his own property requirements. He was suitable reservedwhen he arrived and through our questions got to know us sufficiently to showus his pleasing friendly personality. I had contacted another company which did not bother to call me back. Speciality called me the same day and sent a representative to look at my situation. He did not try to sell me more than what I wanted and got me the best deal available at the time, getting me more than i currently need at the same price agreed on. They came promptly on the day of installation and got the job done in one day. They have checked back more than once to see how it was going and made a follow-up visit. Everyone dealt with was curteous and helpful. I was very pleased with the experience and would not hesitate to use them again.

Had heat within a few hours of initial phone call. Highly recommended. Very grateful on a frigid day.

Gas furnace stopped working early evening, on a very cold winter night. We called to inquire about service at 7:30 pm and left information with their answering service. The technician (Bill) called back within minutes, discussed the problem, and immediately came out to repair the furnace. The tech knew what the potential problem was, and cleaned the lines and got the furnace functioning again without the need for replacing any parts. The tech gave us information to maintain the furnace in the future. We were very impressed with this service company and the technician. They were prompt, professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and the price was very reasonable. We would definitely call this company again. A very good experience all around.
