Mitigation work was completed satisfactorily but clean up was less than acceptable. Dust, plaster and other building materials were left in the dining room and outside the entrance to the house. Servicemaster responded to my complaint and cleaned the area within 1.5 days after I called. Overall, communication was very poor. I was not given regular status updates and had to initiate contact to receive communication. Did not know the project was considered "finished" until I a received a phone call from office personnel asking for feedback.
Description of Work: Supplier performed mitigation services associated with water damage in my dining room. This included drying of wet areas and removal of damaged wall/ceiling materials. This was insurance work (Hence the unknown dollar amount under cost)

They came the same day the water damage happened. They came two or three hours after the insurance company notified them. They were timely, beyond courteous, helpful, and thorough. Their attitude was more than friendly and more than kind. I didn't feel like they were rushing to get on to the next job.
Description of Work: They pulled down two thirds of the ceiling and two thirds of the walls in the garage, including insulation, making sure to cover everything that was salvageable. They set up fans and dehumidifiers. They came back in two days and added another fan and dehumidifier. They came and checked the moisture content several times during the process.

Servicemaster was very responsive. They were able to reschedule a couple of times to meet our needs when the contractors ran slow with projects. The crews were extremely careful with our furniture, packing it in cardboard or shrink wrap when appropriate. They protected doorways and even cleaned up items after storage and made up beds. We could never have accomplished all of this ourselves and felt that the price was very fair for three days of work.
Description of Work: Servicemaster helped us to move and store our household goods while we were having major upgrades done to our house. They helped us pack and move four rooms full of furniture from our home into our garage while we were having hardwood floors installed. They then moved the furniture back and removed two more rooms of furniture while we had carpet and tile installed. They then returned and moved this furniture back into our home after the remodel was complete.

My dog was sprayed by a skunk and spread the liquid sprayed on him all over carpet in the house, upstairs and downstairs, by rubbing his shoulders and muzzle. Within hours, the odor infiltrated EVERYWHERE. It was bad enough to make eyes burn and throat sore. Service came within 2 hours of being called. Performed the estimate and proposed plan of attack, and completed the work the next day within 2 hours on site (blower and filter stayed 8 days total).
Description of Work: Cleaned skunk spray and odor from the wall to wall carpet; removed and cleaned all area rugs (8). Pulled out indoor air and recirculated fresh air from outside with a blower and filtered indoor air with a heavy duty HEPA unit.

I called ServiceMaster of Portland to schedule a cleaning before the holidays, making the appointment was very easy, the tech that came to my house was on time, explained what he was going to do and did a wonderful job, the carpets have never looked so good. I will be using them for all of my future cleanings.
Description of Work: I had all the carpets in my house cleaned, I have a new puppy so there were a few puppy spots to have cleaned, there was no extra charge, there were a couple of unknown spots that are gone now, they added protectant on the carpet to help with the puppy spots in the future, and he gave me a free bottle of carpet spotter for use in between cleanings

They are a prompt, polite, and courteous service. However, the two technicians that were sent did not seem to have any real expertise. In part, expertise is not necessary because they rely on electronic devices to tell them whether or not a floor is wet or dry. However, their meters do not tell them whether or not they should remove obstructions from atop wet areas so that the floor can dry, how long dry out will require, or even how to aim fans to expedite dry out. In all these areas, their actions and estimates were mistaken, and although they were happy to return to complete the process, the additional time and return visits were irritating.
Description of Work: They did dry out of water damage from a failed dishwasher, September/October 2006. This was an insurance claim, and we have not yet received a copy of the bill; the approximate cost is an estimate.

I got home just as they were finishing up extracting the water from my house. At that moment I was extremely grateful...until I started surveying the damage and noticed they had hardly moved a thing and thus there was still lots of water remaining and trapped onto the wood floors. Over the course of the next week they came out 3 more times to clean up the remaining water. They had even left the area rugs in a pile on my driveway, which I rolled out so they'd have a chance to be saved. I finally took more time off work to finish cleaning up the remaining standing water. By this time it was starting to smell. I also was asking for a list of the items they removed from my home and they assured me they had a list and would give it to me. Everything was in total chaos and so it was difficult for me to tell what was left vs what had been removed. Long story to end. They lied repeatedly that they had an inventory and it turns out they did not keep one. I am in negotiations.
Description of Work: PLEASE NOTE: The Service Master shown at the head of this form is incorrect. It should be Service Master of Portland; 4610 SE 26th Ave. Portland, OR 97202 (503)234-0707. Water damage. I was out of town, my neighbor called on a Sunday afternoon because they discovered I had water pouring into my house (a pipe broke in a bathroom on the main floor). I called Service Master and with reluctance they agreed to go in and start cleaning up the water, with my neighbor/friend letting them in. It was going to be at least 2-3 hours before I could get home and the sooner the water was sucked out the less damage overall, especially to the wood floors. They were great about agreeing to do the work before I got home. For that they receive huge thanks and kudos. But from there it went totally downhill. I don't know the price as the insurance company was billed. But, what little I know they were most likely overpaid.

ORACIO AND RAFAEL WERE WELL GROOMED, PROFESSIONAL, POLITE, AND WORKED EFFICIENTLY. THEY HAD A CAN-DO ATTITUDE. THEY EXPLAINED WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO AND LOOKED TO SEE FROM WHERE THE PROBLEM CAME. THEY WERE HELPFUL IN SUGGESTING WHO TO CALL TO GET THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM RESOLVED. THEY HANDLED THE CLEANUP THAT I HIRED THEM TO DO VERY METICULOUSLY. OTHER COMPANIES WOULD BE SO LUCKY TO HIRE SUCH OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONALS!
Description of Work: CLEANED OIL & WATER MIXTURE THAT LEAKED ONTO BASEMENT FLOOR (CEMENT). WAS UNSURE WHO TO CONTACT AND WHAT CATEGORY IT FELL INTO AND THEY SAID THEY COULD HANDLE IT AND HAD THE MEN HERE WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD. WAS SEAMLESS!

VERY MESSY AND NOISY PROCESS, BUT THE TECHNICIAN DID A GREAT JOB ASSESSING THE DAMAGE AND MAKING SURE THAT THE STRUCTURE WAS PROTECTED. HE WAS FAIRLY GOOD AT LETTING US KNOW WHEN HE WOULD BE ARRIVING, AND WORKING WITH OUR SCHEDULES.

THE ASSOCIATE WAS KIND IN A DIFFICULT SITUATION, EXPLAINING THE DAMAGE AND REASSURING ME THAT ALL WOULD BE ALRIGHT. THE EQUIPMENT WAS VERY LOUD AND USED A LOT OF ELECTRICITY.
Description of Work: THE ASSOCIATE FROM SERVICE MASTER CAME AND INSPECTED THE WATER DAMAGE. HE BROUGHT IN FANS AND DEHUMIDIFIERS AND DISTRIBUTED THEM UPSTAIRS AND DOWN. OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, HE RETURNED 3 TIMES TO RE-INSPECT, CHECK FOR HUMIDITY AND TAKE THE EQUIPMENT AWAY.
