ServiceMaster arrived promptly and went into action. They didn’t quit until the house was thoroughly dry. They very professional and thorough. I’d use them again any time.

It went very good. They worked with me on scheduling. They worked around my schedule. They took care of everything, moving furniture out in preparation for the clean up.

They were easy to work with. They did everything they needed to do. They put in all sorts of drying fans. They did a good job. They followed up the other day and said everything was back to normal. They walled off the living room from the dining room to keep the heat in while they were working. They also moved all my living room furniture out of the house before they started to demolish to keep the dust and debris off of it.

I had a serious fireplace fire that filled my 100 year old home with thick black smoke and resulted in serious soot damage.  I needed expertise in soot and smoke clean up in an old, craftsman style home.  The work required 3 cleaning technicians for 2 days. I paid out of pocket vs.using insurance.
Pro:   The workers were great; Lupita/Duita? was the lead; she had incredible knowledgable and skill.  Dora, Lillian and Hymie were all hard, effective workers.  I could not have asked for a better team.  The work was difficult requiring issue specific knowledge and different cleaning products and approaches.  They knew what they were doing; I had complete confidence in their ability.
Con:  Brock's response to my initial call was quick.  It then took 3+weeks to get the work scheduled. I sensed that the company prefers work being done through an insurance claim and my self-pay took lower priority.
I was very satisfied with the quality of work and the outcome.

"(removed member name), Thank you very much for the kind words about our company. I am happy to hear that the workers provided what you had asked for. They are very hard workers and we appreciate the effort they put into every job. I apologize for the lack of urgency on scheduling the job. We feel that every customer is important, and sorry that you had the feeling that the importance was not as high as it should have been. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 503-234-0707. Thanks, Jim Grant"

Very dissatisfied with the work that was provided. This company misplaced many items that could not be explained. We feel that they were trying to milk our insurance policy by doing extra work that was not in our initial agreement. They had subcontracted out a laundry/ dry cleaning company that didn't do a very good job, and also cleaned things that didn't need cleaning. Destroyed several clothing items that were what we considered easy fixes. Overall dissatisfied with the non-English speaking labor. Hard to communicate with the help at times. I feel that this company, the construction company, and dry cleaning business having worked together before and have quite a racket going on with unsuspecting customers that are a bit overwhelmed after a fire. I feel we were taken advantage of over the year it took to rebuild. Thank you. -Brian & Mollie Bledsoe

"We are sorry to hear your dissatisfaction with our company. All fire and water related services we provide are always are at the direction of scope set by the insurance adjuster handling the claim. We give recommendations based on professional experience, but the adjuster on the claim set the scope of repairs. I appreciate the feedback on the lack of English speaking crews. We strive to have an English speaking crew chief on every job, ad truly apologize for this not occurring on your job. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 503-234-0707. They came in not only for me but for my neighbor because it was a joint problem. Service Master brought in humidifiers and all the other stuff. Everything went through my insurance company. They were timely and they were professional. Their cleanup was fine. I think it was a thorough job. They brought lots of equipment to not only do the cleanup but also to remove any kind of mold that had formed and remove all the moisture from between the walls. They did a good job.

The master bath flood occurred on May 12, 2014, and primarily involved the master bathroom, the carpeting, carpet pad, and underlayment in the master bedroom, and some seepage into the second bathroom.
While the tear out occurred right away, they left behind debris and nails sticking up in the floor allowing for foot puncturing.
Although they left us with one working bathroom, they installed heaters and blowers in both bathrooms, which they essentially set and forgot about. We were forced to crawl over and around the heaters and blowers to access and use our one working bathroom. If I remember correctly, we had to remind them to set a blower under the house, which was part of the planned work. What was suppose to take 4 days max, was left for 10 days, thereby delaying the remediation work.
The workers sent into our home were young. Communication from the company was essentially non-existent.
While eventually they came and cleared out, the process did not leave us feeling confident about the work.

It went super well. They did it within five hours and then my house went from a disaster to immaculate. The price was fair and they were very professional. All I had to do was sweep and mop. They performed a miracle for me.

I had them come out and take care of a problem in my basement. Cats had been using an area of my basement for a catbox. They are like a disaster clean up company. They have a 500 Dollar minimum fee, which I thought was very high, but it is typical. They cleaned up an elevated crawl space. They had to come out twice, because the first guy didn't do a great job. They were very good about checking in on me after they did the first install. There was some confusion on paying the bill, and they were very unpleasant when it came to that.
Response from ServiceMaster of Portland
"We never provided service to this customer. We did explain the $500.00 requirement, but since we did not provide service there was no invoice to the customer. Not sure what the confusion with the collection of the money was for."

David came out on Monday to clean sewage water/waste out of basement closets and bathroom shower drain. Cleaned one closet, partially; didn't clean shower at all. Called company the next day and they said they were booked and couldn't get to the shower and closet clean up that day. I insisted that they come and make it right that day or I would find someone else who would. David came back and cleaned out one closet--still didn't move any of the items stored in the other affected area to clean that area, which had been sitting in waste water, claiming he had to get approval from project manager to clean personal belongings. Wrote on walls with red sharpie "ABATE" without discussing with me, the homeowner...the list goes on. I called office on day 3 with issues and was told the field supervisor would call and come out and "make things right". I took the day off work and supervisor didn't call or come over and I got VM when I called to talk with Customer Service. Today is day 4 and the field supervisor called and I told him it was too late to remedy the situation--I'll start over with another company.

It was a Sunday morning and we called them. They came out. They literally did not know what they were doing. We had an inch of water in our basement. They came out with no pumps. They came out with nothing. They wanted to put stands in there. I had drawers in my laundry with full of water. They picked up the wrecks that were there and took them with them. The next day, I called them and I said I didn't like they were doing anything because they didn't know what they were doing. They tried to charge us a lot of money and they didn't do anything. So, we called the insurance company and they sent some people out who were wonderful.

We had sewage backup into our basement. State Farm set us up with Service Master and paid for all services. I was fairly satisfied with their work. We needed carpet removed and flood cuts to two walls, as well as sanitizing of some furniture. They were very responsive and friendly on the phone. The techs arrived on time and appeared professional. My complaint is upon looking in our drain in the basement the techs noticed water and recommended we get a plumber as they said it didn't look like it was draining. After spending $150 to get a plumber out he explained that this is normal - water sits in the p trap and it prevents sewage gases from permeating the house. I feel like the techs should have known this, which apparently is fairly common knowledge! When I spoke to their supervisor about this he was very apologetic and talked with the techs about it. Otherwise they did what they were supposed to do in a timely fashion and were respectful of our house.

They are a big company. They did fine. They did a good job. The experience was good and fine. They came out and picked up the carpet, took it away, cleaned it and then brought it back. The carpet was clean and dry. They did a fine job. The price was fair. I would use their services again in the future.

Our gutters were clogged and we did not know until one of the winter storms sent rainwater into the window well of one of the guest bedrooms. The guys at Servicemaster came promptly, gave and estimate, explained what would happen, and quickly got to work. They gave us a suggestion on who to call for getting the wall fixed and carpet relaid. When the bill came, there was no surprise. My husband and I were both very happy.

They will come anytime you call. They came on a Saturday morning and started work right away, which was convenient for us. He was honest about when the work would be done. He worked with us on pricing issues. He was flexible in that way.

My wife interacted with this company. We have used them before. She liked the work that they did. They did a really good job for her. They were very professional. The two guys that actually did the work had uniforms. They were polite and professional. They answered any questions.

Mitigation work was completed satisfactorily but clean up was less than acceptable. Dust, plaster and other building materials were left in the dining room and outside the entrance to the house. Servicemaster responded to my complaint and cleaned the area within 1.5 days after I called. Overall, communication was very poor. I was not given regular status updates and had to initiate contact to receive communication. Did not know the project was considered "finished" until I a received a phone call from office personnel asking for feedback.

They came the same day the water damage happened. They came two or three hours after the insurance company notified them. They were timely, beyond courteous, helpful, and thorough. Their attitude was more than friendly and more than kind. I didn't feel like they were rushing to get on to the next job.
