He was very professional and helpful. While I ended up going with someone else for the work, I was very impressed with this company.

When I called to inquire about getting the work done, the lady on the phone took the time to ask all of the right questions and was willing to work with my odd work schedule to make an appointment for the work to be done. When the service tech arrived, I went out to greet him and to my surprise, before he opened the fence to the walkway, he asked if I had any pets in the yard that might run out... This struck me as very curteous and thoughtful and the rest of the experience was along those lines. He took great care to laydown protective matting on the floor leading to the fireplace - "just in case". He left the powerful vaccum outside where the noise would not disturb those in the house. The service tech took the time to investigate an ajoining chimney even though he did not have to. This experience reminds me that there are companies and individuals out there that are curtious and kind, prompt and truthful. Russell Chimney Service is one of those companies. I would hire them again without hesitation!

They fixed whatever problems we had and everything has been fine ever since. We use them almost every year and have been using them on and off for many years. They are really good and really competent. They are also honest, reliable, and very experienced.

The technician arrived right on time. He advised me that both chimneys were in good condition and that neither of them needed cleaning and were both safe to use. He took the time to explain to me how the woodstove worked and fully inspected all of the stacks, etc. I decided to use Russell Chimney Service because I had read previous entries in Angies List that indicated that Russell Chimney Service would not perform unneeded services, just to get my money. I REALLY find this commendable, as this was the case for me. The technician was here for about 1 hour. He only charged me a service call fee of $47.50 which I found to be very fair. The technician advised me that a good rule of thumb is to have the chimney cleaned after burning about 2 cords of wood. I will call these folks when the time comes to clean the chimney as they are punctual, knowledgeable, and reliable.

I asked them to estimate putting a basic chimney cap (to keep rain and creatures out). They showed up on time and gave a fair estimate and chatted about pointing that we'll need to take care of in the next couple of years. We called them back a little while after they left to tell them that we'd like them to do the work. They were able to fit us in the SAME day. This was great because it's started to rain again and we did not want any more water getting into the house. Everyone we dealt with @ Russell was very nice, polite, and helpful and we could not have asked for a better turnaround time. We'll definitely use them in the future.

Dan (the owner) and his crew did a great job - they spent more time cleaning the chimney than the company that did it last year and removed much more debris. The furnace chimney looks great and I imagine the new work will stop the rain from coming in. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't hurry through the job. Answered all my questions.

They were careful, prompt, pleasant to work with, cooperative, and I would recommend them to others. I was surprised that they weren't on Angie's List already. They were great!

Sometimes I felt like my phone calls were not returned promptly and the actual work got delayed due to weather (the snow), otherwise everything was great! The men who did the actual work were very respectful of my home, performed good work, and gave good advice on maintenance and other issues I might encounter.

They showed up on time and did a great job and when they left everything was cleaned up.

They did a great job, the finished product turned out very well. They stuck with the estimate and it worked out great.

It started with a squirrel getting in our fireplace. Russell had put a screen in the chimney and I believed the screen was dislodged by the squirrel. I called Russell to come out and fix the problem. I asked that while they were here they inspect the chimney to see if it is safe to use. I had smelled smoke where I didn't expect to. The technician came out and reportedly inspected the chimney but I didn't get an invoice and I didn't hear back from Russell what exactly was done. I called the office manager asking for an explanation. She told me she would follow up with the technician and call me back. I didn't hear back so I called again. The office manager told me that the technician had not replaced the screen because he could not reach the top of the chimney. She suggested that I contact another company to get the inspection done. Four weeks have passed and all the chimney companies are booked. I wish Russell would have told me from the start they could not do the work.

He was wonderful. They are the people to call.

Called Russell Chimney Service about three weeks before the work was performed. They explained that they were a little backlogged and could not do the work until November 17th. On November 16th they called to say they would be coming out the next day around noon. On the 17th they arrived on time and were very conscientious in their work and did a great job in keeping carpets protected and everything cleaned up afterwards.

I called the company and was told by a young man that Dan was out of town and would come to look at the chimney the following week. A few weeks passed and I got a phone message from a woman telling me to call about the estimate. I called. The woman who answered could find nothing for me. Dan was out of town and could do the estimate the next week, if needed. A couple more weeks went by and I called again to ask whether they had had the chance to come by and again it was no. But they said he would be able to come out later that day. Now, I had been told from the start that I did not need to be present as the work to be done was all external. I was home most of that day, however, but did happen to be out at the PO when he came by. I came home to an unpleasant message on my answering machine from Cheryl saying that they expected me to be there. Dan left his card, so I know he had come by but I have not heard anything else from them and at this point I don't really want to call again.

Dan came out to give an estimate and found a major problem. He explained the problem and why it should be fixed. He gave me an estimate on the spot. I have already scheduled the work.

The guys were right on time, worked fast, cleaned up after the job. The were just great!!!!

They did a really good job. They cleaned up really well after themselves. I was really pleased with them. They came when they said they would.

Estimator and work crews were on time and very courteous. Work was done very efficiently and took 1.5 days instead of 3 days, as estimated. All company personnel were professional and very helpful.

I thought the price was high for the work that was done. I thought he was okay.

On time, polite, cleaned up their mess, educated me and left the chimney in good shape for years to come. And then wrote me a thank you note.

They did a very good job. It took a while for the cover to be made, and at one point, I was concerned whether my order was lost.

I can't say enough good things about these folks. At the time I needed the brick and mortar work done, I had about five bids on the job. They were neither the highest or the lowest, but they were the best with communication, cooperation and education. The work was done flawlessly and the cleanup was perfect. This year I had them do the cap and help me figure out if I had a crack between two flues,(I don't). Dan and his wife Cheryl are exceptionally helpful and know their business.
