Oregon Chimney Repair & Cleaning Inc

All of the staff of Oregon Chimney were friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I am very pleased with the work they did and would highly recommend them. I had 3 companies bid the job. I selected Oregon Chimney because they were reasonable with the cost and prompt with the estimate and were honestly friendly.

After waiting for 3 weeks for an appointment, Mark showed up about 15min early, did not introduce himself, was very dirty and not very nice, after messing around with my insert for about 30 min and asking me for tools, he gave up and told me to call someone else because he could not do the job. He lost one of the bolts in the insert and did not put the unit back toghether. Very dissatisfied.

The repairs were done very well, but they left a mess all around the house on the plants, and tried to get us to hire them to paint the chimney.

They were polite, clean, and professional. They did try to sell us a chimney cap after we said we weren't interested.

They were the lowest priced of the ones that we called in addition to being available the soonest. They were both prompt and courteous. The masonry of one of the two chimneys needs to be repaired, something they didn't notice (nor did we until later).

They were clean and on time. They inspected the chimney of a home I purchased. I was expecting them to give me an expensive list of items that needed fixing or cleaning, but they told me that nothing needed done.

Jeff was on time, cleaned up and was a very personable man. He explained everything he did and was honest and trustworthy. I'll refer my friends to the company and especially Jeff.

They just did an excellent job. They were punctual and just did an outstanding job. I was very pleased. They gave me $10 off because the chimney wasn't as dirty as I thought.

They were ahead of schedule on getting us the bid and finished the work in a timely fashion.

Overall very positive experience. Amber was very friendly and helpful on the phone (for scheduling); Mark arrived early and provided polite, speedy service. It was hard to tell for the quality of work (it was just a chimney sweep), but overall we were pleased and very likely will call them again.

Called to say he would be 15 minutes late. Arrived in 30 minutes.

Dan gave an estimate to grind and replace mortar from the roof up. Amber scheduled Tony to do work. That evening I inspected what was done. Found very little mortar had been replaced. Called Amber; she sent Dan back out to look with me. Dan showed up early before I got there and left a note. He would have Amber send Tony back. Tony came back added mortar to a couple of cracks and a little to the chimney top. Said all other mortar was in good shape. Found out from Tony he did not do the work the 1st time. He had his helper do it while he went to another job. Also he is subcontractor not an employee of Oregon Chimney. Asked him for his CCB# and he doesn't have one!!! Overall I expected most of the mortar replaced for $425. Less 20% was done. What they did is worth $150-$200 at most, but I received a bill for $425. The quality is not great for a professional, very bad considering the price.

Mark, the chimney sweep, was prompt, quiet, polite and very quick about his work. The price was a fixed rate quoted to me over the phone when I called to make the appointment.

Over all, it was good, but wish the estimator would have been more accurate as to the work that needed to be done. (He mostly guessed at it, because he didn't bring a ladder tall enough to actually climb up and inspect.

A roofer came out to repair the roofing surrounding the chimneys -he noted the flashing could be pulled out with his fingers. He had initially suggested I have the chimney's reflashed, but he wasn't the one that suggested this particular company. The roofer had me get on the roof and I could clearly see that the "new" flashing appeared to be nothing more than aluminum and it was barely inserted into a groove that looked to have been carved in the brick by something like a key - I could remove it with barely a tug! I called Oregon Chimney repair and complained to Amber - asking that she send someone other than Jeff back out. Later, "Jeff" called arguing with me, telling me that he thought they did a good job, but when I told him that some of it had fallen away within ONE WEEK of it's installation he admitted that perhaps he should have used a masonry cutter to do the installation better. I was shocked. I requested they come back out, they never did and never called.

Very lovely job. They were prompt. They did a good job. The price was fair.

Dan Mitchell responded to phone call. He made an appointment to see & bid. Work-appointment was set by phone to their office. Work was done on schedule by a two-man crew. All were very polite. Work-area was left clean (vacuumed) following completion.

They were very nice and did a great job. It was for a great price, too.

Mark & his co-worker were on time. I thought that my damper was broken but they inspected it and determined that it was just a little rusty. A new damper would have cost $250 to install. They also took the time to show me the proper way of opening and closing it. They swept and inspected the fireplace and I was pleased with their service. The only issue that I had was the office was a little slow on returning my phone call. I had called the night before to confirm the appointment and did not get a call back.

MASONRY IS GOOD, EVERYTHING ELSE BAD. I HAD TO CALL THEM BACK MANY TIMES. DEBRIS FROM TEARDOWN PREVENTED DAMPERS IN BOTH CHIMNEYS FROM OPENING, THEY FILLED MY GUTTERS WITH DEBRIS, KILLED A LARGE PATCH OF LAWN, BRICK ALL THROUGH THE FLOWERBEDS, BROKE MY BACK SCREEN DOOR GLASS, DIDN'T PARGE COAT THE INSIDE OF THE CHIMNEY LIKE PROMISED, FORGOT TO PUT DIVIDERS BETWEEN THE FLUE OPENINGS IN THE CAP, DIDN'T BUILD THE CHIMNEY HIGH AS CODE REQUIRED. THEY DID FIX ALL OF THESE EXCEPT THE PARGE COAT (IMPOSSIBLE TO DO AFTER IT WAS BUILT) AND THE LAWN, BUT I HAD TO CALL THEM MANY TIMES, EACH TIME THEY CAME OUT THEY DIDN'T TAKE CARE OF ALL THE ISSUES. WE ALSO HAD AGREED TO CREATE A SIMPLE DESIGN IN THE CHIMNEY WITH COLORED BRICK AS PART OF THE ESTIMATE. THEY THEN COULDN'T FIND THE COLORED BRICK AS PROMISED AND SO WE HAD TO SCRAP THE IDEA AFTER PAINTING THE BRICKS (?? THEIR SUGGESTION) DIDN'T WORK. OTHER PEOPLE I TALKED TO HAVE BEEN SATISFIED. JUST BE CAREFUL WHICH CREW DOES THE WORK.

ADEQUATE. DIDN'T TAKE A LOT OF TIME LOOKING AT CHIMNEY. WAS HONEST ABOUT FIREPLACES NOT NEEDING TO BE CLEANED.

MARK ROBINSON WAS A FEW MINUTES LATE, BUT WAS FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. HE TOOK TIME TO THOROUGHLY EXPLAIN HIS FINDINGS.

THEY WERE ON TIME, LAID DOWN CLOTHS TO KEEP THINGS CLEAN, AND CLEANED UP AFTERWARDS.

MARK, AND HIS ASSISTANT WORKED EFFICIENTLY, AND DID A VISUAL INSPECTION, AND ESTIMATE OF WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO DO REPAIRS ON OUR CHIMNEY, AND FIREPLACES. HOWEVER, SHORTLY AFTER THEY STARTED CLEANING, WE NOTICED A FINE COAT OF BLACK SOOT IN THE KITCHEN, HALF THE LIVING ROOM, AND DOWNSTAIRS WHERE THE SECOND FIREPLACE IS. MARK CALLED THE OFFICE, AND WE DID, TOO. AMBER FROM THE OFFICE CAME OUT THE SAME DAY, AND SPENT TWO OR THREE HOURS CLEANING UP. BUT IT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. WE THEORIZE THAT THE COMBINATION OF A WINDY DAY, AND DOORS LEFT OPEN MAY HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM, BUT WHO KNOWS. KUDOS TO AMBER, ANYWAY, FOR MAKING THE BEST OF AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION.

CHIMNEY DID NOT NEED CLEANING. INSPECTION OF BOTH CHIMNEYS REQUIRED ABOUT 15 MINUTES.
