They came in and gave us quotes and different options, we finally narrowed it all down as the system and it came in at $24,000.00 dollars. Our big mistake, was not detailing exactly everything to be done. From the very first day, it went down hill. With a closed system, the cat door and ramp are important and in our house there is only one place it can really go. The problem started, with this, the original outdoor heat pump unit was to fit under the opening with the cat door. However, the unit they originally measured for, wasn't the one sent. What was sent was to tall so the cat door couldn't be placed. From here it all went to h***. They wanted to charge us an extra $500.00 to put in the cat door. .00The old furnace and water heater were to be removed and in doing so the ceiling and walls would require repairing. They told us they would include this. However, it never got listed on agreement, so they wanted to charge us another $1000.00 to finish this. An electrical plug, that is necessary for the water heater, need to be mounted on a different wall. 10 feet away at most. They didn't include this so charged us another $250.00 for this to be done. Item, after item, after item was the same way, things they said they would do, but never seemed to be detailed in the work order. Example install XYZ heating/cooling unit and removal of old system but the repairs were never done. They are real sweet talkers, they tell you yes, yes, yes straight to your face and turn around and lie about it in the next breath. We hope we can save someone else the h*** we went through with this company. What ended up supposedly being a 4-7 day project, ended of talking over 4 months. BEWARE
Description of Work: This was a Clean Energy loan program (sponsored by the State of Oregon with Federal Funding), it is a low interest rate program. Essentially the following were to be performed cleaning and minor repairs to roof, with new gutters, and capping our existing chimney. and new Mitsubishi heating/cooling system and new Avion gas water heating system insulation of attic and upgrades to an add-on addition of the house * other upgrades that were to produce a low energy usage rating. As part of the heating system, the house is deemed as a closed system, (everything is strictly sealed to reduce heat and cooling losses). With this a cat door with an outside ramp were to be installed (we have 6 cats and is a major concern), and the area that housed to old furnace and water heater, would have damage and was supposed to be repaired, sheetrock, etc. Duct systems were to be removed and capped and sheetrocked also. The new system is a ductless unit.

Very efficient. On the phone, provider suggested we purchase new faucets ahead of time, so as not to use contractor time for shopping. We did that. The installation went well..

We had used Neil Kelly Company in the past and when it came time to update our kitchen we didn't hesitate to call designer Janel Campbell. We wanted to keep our kitchen footprint as it was, but update surfaces, appliances and give us more storage. Janel listened to our wants and needs and came up with a beautiful design. The kitchen is warm and inviting as well as functional. We did encounter a few problems along the way, not of Neil Kelly's making, but with the cabinet supplier. Dan Moore, our project manager, did his best to mitigate the problem and went to bat on our behalf with the supplier to get us a small refund. We know that remodels can involve glitches and understand that; what impresses us is that Neil Kelly keeps in mind that we are the customer and works to minimize problems. We would use Neil Kelly Company in the future.

It went as good as any contracting kitchen or bathroom remodeling can go. On March 19, Neil Kelley and cabinet maker came out and measured the spaces for the the built in bookcase in the kitchen and built in cabinet in the bathroom. On June 6, which was sheduled back in March, they arrived on time and installed the cabinets. Installation took a day and a half and they finished on time mid-day on June 7. There were no major issues. Some of the additional shelves for the kitchen caginets were a very tight fit so they took the shelves back to the shop and made them slightly shorter. However the whole project was completed on schedule.
Description of Work: Install a new built in bookcase that matched the cabinets in the kitchen and a new cabinet with doors and shelves that matched the bathroom cabinets. They also modified and added some shelves in the existing kitchen cabinets.

In the short amount of time that was the limit of the special, he was able to build the frame and install hinges. I still have a lot of work ahead of me to finish the job. It wasn't his fault, but at least it got started. He also provided guidance on how to finish the job, and what to avoid in the process. If he would have had more time in his schedule, I would have paid for him to continue the project.
Description of Work: I asked for assistance with hanging a set of french doors in a remodeled space. This was an Angies List Special, which alloted me 2-hours of a handyman's time.

We were going to use him to install a doggy door. He could not do it until Oct 7. We decided to hiure someone else put in the door, but we found out the door isn’t going to work period. The only way to do it is to order something else. So we don’t need his services because the company won’t do what we need.

Description of Work: we had themfor ahome energy project through the stat of Oregon, they were very misleaing in their handling of the whole project. They made us feel as though we had no say in project. Waited weeks onend trying to get things done. Their biggest error was that one crew never really knew what the other was doing and never specced the house out from the begining. If any one does a Clean Energy Project through the State of Oregon, kae sure to get bids from different companies. They have a list of approved vendors. Our error was we thought we had to pick only one for the bid.

Contractor came over to house, having agreed to look at project that he thought was reasonable for the Angie's List deal. He then told me he didn't want to do the first few steps bec he didn't want to deal with possible lead-paint abatement (as is required in our state). Tried to get me to do the work myself, saying he'd come back to to check what I had done and add the final step as long as I didn't tell Neil Kelly he hadn't done the abatement. I thought about it and then left him message saying no, that felt quite wrong, and to reschedule either to do the original fix-it project, or another one if he truly didn't want to deal with abatement. Never heard back from him.

Service provider and I had massive miscommunication regarding who would contact whom when. Work was never done, and Angie's List refunded the money. I have since spoken with service provider and am satisfied that this was a true miscommunication and misunderstanding, not a reflection of his potential work.

This was done as an Angie's Big Deal--I purchased 2 blocks of 2h of time for general handyman services (total of 4h). Rick was great--called in advance to know roughly what he would be doing, and he did a great job of a variety of pesky maintenance things. Fixed loose bath tub taps, created an access door for those taps inside a closet, replaced a leaky kitchen sink drain, and installed a new ceiling fan. Have already booked him for more items on the never-ending Honey Do list. He was a pleasure to work with.

The job went fairly well although he had a little problem with putting back the screws to keep the globes in place. The problem was with the structure of the external lighting openings (product probably made out of country) but he finally accomplished the job. Hopefully, the globes will stay in place when the weather becomes windy. The doorbell installation was no problem at all.
Description of Work: I purchased a coupon offered for the services of a handyman for two hours. In the allotted time, he changed the lighting for two external lampposts, put in a new doorbell. He was asked to change the mailbox but the screws were so rusted that he could not unscrew the mailbox from its base. He suggested that I sand the old mailbox and paint.

Difficult to schedule because it was a Angies Big Deal and there were many responses. A week before, a day was firmed up and approximate time. Day of appointment, carpenter called at specified time and indicated that he would be late and was by about 2 hours due to an emergency with another customer. Once he was here, he set up quickly, approached the task professionally and skillfully, and worked through completion. Job was completed nicely within one day as expected.
