It went very well.

Definitely will use him again.
Description of Work: We bought a new washer and dryer. The dryer needed better venting, and we needed to change the venting. We called Rob to take a look at the job, he responded in a day, came over looked at the job; returned with a plan; scheduled a time for him to do the work. The dryer venting needed to be re-directed. It was complicated; it required crawling around in a crawl space and removing some wood & it took longer than he thought. Rob did an excellent job. And he cleaned up after himself. An A+ for me!

They delivered as promised across the board. The shelves are exactly what I wanted and my husband commented that they are so sturdy, they are holding up the garage! They kept to the budget and started and finished exactly when they said they would. Rob is very communicative and gave me a daily status of the project. My expectations were exceeded and I will definitely use Mt. Tabor Construction again!

We had sold the house and the buyers did not want the beds. The beds had been built and assembled in place twenty years before and could not have been removed without damaging the house. Rob not only broke them down, and hauled debris, but he and his wife did a marvelous job cleaning up after themselves. They were incredible to work with; quick, professional, and to-the-minute on time. What a good discovery. We will call whenever we have work to be done. Rob does most everything.

Description of Work: Contacted Rob about replacing single pane glass in a warehouse window that someone threw a rock through. He answered the phone both times I called him which is great. Easy to talk to which is important. The thing I think that impressed me the most is that he actually referred me to a company who could do the job sooner and for less money than he could. That may sound strange...but I really appreciate that what he thought of was that I needed this job done quickly and with cost savings in mind - and he knew of a company that specializes in this type of repair and could get it done right away. It just says a lot for integrity when someone thinks more about the customer than making the next buck. It tells me that if I need handyman services he will be highest on the list of folks to call. Owning a business myself, I know that integrity is sooo important...customer service...not just "capturing" the business. Bravo.

Rob was cautious enough to want an engineer to determine if the wall was load bearing. He arranged for an engineer to come out to inspect the wall/house. As we thought, it was not load bearing, and I now have it in writing by a certified engineer (at an additional cost, which was well worth it). Rob removed the 4 foot section of wall and was meticulous about preventing the debris from getting to the rest of the house. He repaired and finished the drywall very well to match the existing and laid a couple of extra rows of hardwood floor to fill the gap where the wall had been. Despite some frustration of working with an uneven floor, Rob did a great job transitioning the hardwood to vinyl. The job was finished within about a week. Getting a threshhold piece to match the wood floor was the only delay. It is exactly what I wanted and I'm very happy with the results.
Description of Work: I asked Rob for an estimate to remove part of a wall between my diningroom and livingroom. The dining area is only about 8 ft. x 8 ft. Removal of about 4 feet of the wall would allow me to extend the table without everyone being cramped and hitting the wall.

Overall, the project went very well and I would use Rob again. 1. Closet The closet was a daunting project. My old 1920's home has settlement, so the floors and walls were not square. Rob did a thorough and very good job of building a "square" closet. We used paint grade, smooth plywood for the sides, top and front portions of the closet.Rob also installed bi-fold doors This took longer than expected, but Rob kept to the budget 2. Open ShelfRob prepared the area for me to finish with plywood. He spent several hours on this part of the project and provided me with useful information for completing the project Finally, what's a project without a mishap! When moving 2x4s into the bedroom, one (out of 4) of my ceiling fan's light shades was broken. Rob was unable to find the exact match for the shade, so he purchased a new set of 4 shades that are better than the originals.
Description of Work: Rob performed 2 projects on my 1920's bungalow. 1. Closet: Framed and Finished (except paint) a Closet (~ 8' H x 5' W x 2'6"D) in one of our bedrooms that didn't have a closet. 2. Open Shelf: Prepared Area (~ 9'W x 2'6" H x 3' D) of Basement beneath stairs for me to build an open shelf unit. Main task was removing 4 2x4 Studs and replacing with a double studCost included materials for Closet and Open Shelf

Rob and his wife Alix came by initially to give us an estimate of all work that we required and were extremely thorough and careful to explain everything that would be done step by step. We wanted motion lights installed on the exterior of the house as well as a removal of some lighting fixtures inside to be replaced by antique lighting. Both Rob and Alix are very professional and friendly, a nice plus that they were around the corner from us in lovely Mt. Tabor, and we were also pleased to find out that they are involved in the local community and that they are kind, compassionate, and intelligent people. Rob got the job done as scheduled, always showed up in a timely manner, and dealt with any issues that came his way. He stuck by his estimate and didn't charge extra when the job took a little longer or was more involved than expected. Although these were small repairs and installations, we hope to employ Rob and Alix for future work in our home as we have great confidence in the quality and the application of their work.

We were referred to Rob for a simple outdoor window trim repair, and we hired him back to be our contractor/painter/construction guy on a full bathroom remodel. He subcontracted to an awesome and affordable plumber and equally awesome affordable tile expert. Rob found us some fabulous deals on appliances, too, and dealt with some of our suppliers to get the best possible results. We love the bathroom job! When it comes to professionalism, Rob is the kind of personality that you either appreciate, or you don't. He'll talk you through every decision every step of the way--including keeping you abreast of obstacles and challenges -- which was great for us as first-time homeowners, but might be overwhelming for people who don't want to be as hands-on. He's a talker, and he'll tell you what he thinks, straight-up. Beware. It was nice to have Rob's wife on the job, too (as part of the whole package) because she's a force of calm and reason. Rob was also really good about getting the project finished well and finished promptly, and sticking with it until we were happy, and keeping us well informed when price estimates were revised. The contract was super-clear. I got the impression that this was a bigger job than Rob ordinarily takes on (based on some of the unexpected challenges), but if there was any learning curve, it was Rob who bore the brunt, not us.

Rob removed the rotted molding, ensured that the rot had not traveled beyond the window frame, and had to hand cut each piece of replacement molding because of the inconsistent measurements. He also added flashing. He gave us a really fair price for the work and he is meticulous and detail focused. He had to do a lot of caulking to seal the frames and he warned me that I would see a lot of caulk that would need painting. But the job looked perfect to me! Rob also gave us lots of advice about other projects we are doing around the house. He is just a really nice guy, and also an excellent contractor--a perfectionist! I'll definitely hire him again for projects.
