Mr. Electric states that they will offer you an estimate prior to doing any work electrical work. My bathroom outlets all stopped working at the same time. I had no idea that the outlet in the garage from houses built in my era(80's and 90's) is where you had to press the reset button to get them working again. The electrician showed up, pressed a button and said i owed them $304(literally pressed the black button on an outlet). I told them that was ridiculous and this was not made clear to me before any work was done(how could it be no work was done or discussed, again they PRESSED a BUTTON). I was made to feel uncomfortable and said i would pay and call the manager later. I spoke with the manager who acted like he took my concerns to heart and said he would call me tomorrow with a solution? Of course that never happened and my three phone calls were not returned. I do believe they should be entitled to a wage for showing up, dealing with an appliance company in the past they charge you to come up($150) which is applied towards the work, if work is needed. I am a new home owner and quickly learning companies I will be loyal to, this is not one of them.

Chris explained everything we needed to know regarding options and potential consequences of the different options. Excellent problem-solving (very old equipment). He was very pleasant, friendly, and efficient. He went above-and-beyond.

I had already removed the old light fixture and prepped site. all he had to do was installed already purchased metal light box and already purchased safe-t-brace for the bracket. Then install the fan which was already purchased and partially assembled. it took him 1.5 hours to complete the job at a ridiculous price of $416 dollars. I believe the price structure is flawed and that the provider cannot customize jobs. he just hits Cele in fan install and it tells him how much to charge no matter the amount of work. Will never use them again.

They were very professional they did the work and got it done, but they are very expensive. We probably got charged double than we would of if we would of called regular electrician.

It was in the middle of the night-specifically just after 4 am on Tuesday February 11.  I had turned off the night light in my bathroom, and proceeded to turn it back on.  I heard the telltale snap of my circuit breaker tripping, the bulb of my night light flashed, then went out completely.  After first checking the GFCI outlet it was plugged into, the other light switches in the bathroom which now did not work, and the breaker which could not be reset, I realized this was beyond my capability to resolve on my own.
I saw an advertisement for Mr. Electric which stated the phones were answered 24/7, so I called them.  I had the option of having someone come right away on an emergency call.  After some discussion, I decided since I had power in every room but the bathroom and part of the bedroom I could wait an extra day and have the next available appointment, which was Wednesday February 12.  There was a scheduling snafu which I was unable to resolve later on the outage day, but since I let Mr. Electric know I was taking the day off from work to get this work done, they got me in the next day (the day I took off work, February 12).  That was certainly appreciated.  In addition to the hassles of taking off work, taking a bath by candlelight seems romantic on TV or in the movies, but it is a different matter when you have to use alternative lighting in the bathroom because you have no power.
Luckily the problem was nothing more complicated than a bad breaker, which was promptly replaced, and brought back my power.  I had two other electrical issues in the bedroom (a light which did not work which turned out to be the switch, and a loose electrical outlet) which the repair person (Greg) was able to fix with available supplies.  The entire work (from diagnosis to completion of all repairs) took about an hour.  I am quite pleased with the service I received and that I was able to get two other electrical issues fixed in addition to the untimely breaker failure.

Very professional and thorough.  Tightened old connections from power box to outlets that were not working.  Everything seems fine now. Also replaced some switch plates for free.  Not sure if the price was right since I've never had to call an electrician before and was not a member of Angie's List yet.

Mr. Electric did an excellent job.  It was easy to get an appointment which they arranged for the next morning.  They arrived on time.  We have been Mr. Electric Advantage Plan members since October, 2011 when Greg first came out to repair the garbage disposal and outdoor lights.  He did a fantastic job!  Most recently, in November, 2013,  Zan came and fixed our antiquated front porch switch.  He installed a new digital switch which works great.  Both Greg and Zan were very conscientious and hardworking.  They explained everything carefully in easy to understand terms, and left everything spotless.  We were impressed and very happy with their work.  We highly recommend Mr. Electric.

Amazing responsive service, accurate bid with no hidden costs, immaculate work and followup. As a realtor I facilitate at least a dozen major electrical repairs a year and have worked with many contractors over the years and these guys stand out as the best balance of value, expertise and service out there.

Called and was given a quote of $258.87 they called back after arriving at the job and said it will now be $356.03. I thought the first price was high based on what would be a 20 minute job. Again it was only one GFI  plugin. Only six wires. On the receipt they showed labor at $271.00, a 35.00 service van fee and parts $50.00?  Had to ask three times for a receipt and was asked why do I need a receipt.  Asked  how long the job was according to their books and was told 45 minutes.

It went very well.  Zach is very professional and knows his business.  He explained that he would have to pull a minor permit and it might be inspected by the County, and it was, actually.  We talked a lot about electrical issues and I learned some things.  I have no problem with the work that was done and feel very comfortable with it; by that, I mean that I don't feel it was shoddy work and my house will burn down.  It was good, solid work.   But I won't have them back because they were outrageously expensive, so outrageously expensive that I am embarrassed to admit how much I paid.  The work that was done is not worth the price I paid.  Not even close.
Response from Mr. Electric of Portland
"Our records indicate the member paid $950.78 for the above services. I realize this can seem expensive, but she was not overcharged. Sometimes people just don’t realize the hard costs that go into quality work like this. Not just on the materials or labor, but the permits alone cost $200. There are companies who will charge less, but if you don’t choose me, be sure and do your homework. Because sometimes the companies offering the lowest prices are the ones who don’t have the proper certifications and use lower quality materials. These are the same companies that cannot be found when their faulty equipment causes damage to a home"

The service rep came in and gave a spiel about buying their "advantage plan", and gave us the estimate. He showed his notebook of standard prices, and said that they don't charge by the hour, but use standard prices for jobs. There were 2 pieces to the estimate. $500 for a standard install, and $500 extra if the current fixture was not supported and 2 brace boxes would need to be installed. When giving us the estimate, he said that he could start the job immediately if we wanted him to. After seeing the finished work, we saw that the brace box was just a pre-manufactured brace, and no construction work was required at all, the brace just slipped into the hole in the ceiling and expanded. After receiving our bill, we called to see if there was a mistake, because calling for other bids on the same job, we found that the entire job should have cost $280-$300 instead of $1000. We thought they would reduce the cost for this job that took 2 hours for 1 person to complete, but were told that their prices are fixed at the corporate level. We are very disappointed in the hard sell, the overall cost for the value, and the fact that they wouldn't work with us after the job was completed.

Began work at 9:00 am and was comlplete by 2:00 pm. This involved running a line from the breaker box around to the back of the house. The Clark County inspector said it was an excellent job.

The first repair went so well that I have used Mr. Electric for several additional projects and the work is done fast, accurately, and within the quoted amount. Brian has even done small "tweaks" with things he saw that were a problem. For instance, he saw that my bathroom switch just needed a little tune up which he did for free. I am also very impressed by the fact that this company actually calls you to tell you that the electrician is on his way. How many times have we all sat in our homes waiting, waiting, waiting for an electrician or other workers to come out, as arranged? Brian even wrote me a thank you note for our business! I highly recommend this company!

The work was done fine...I have no complaints about that. The price however was far beyond the scope of the job. I had supplied the fans and all the electrician had to do was replace them. It took him less than one hour and we were charged $500.00 plus for less than one hour. My husband complained and he did lower it to just below $500.00 but that is still robbery. We don't even pay that to a medical specialist.
Response from Mr. Electric of Portland
"Mr Electric believes our customers appreciate an exact price to complete any work they are seeking to have completed. By offering an exact price, Mr Electric customers know up front what they are paying with the assurance of no hidden fees or charges when the work is completed . Mr Electric did not start the work without the Harvey's prior approval. There was no obligation to accept the work as it was quoted before the work was started. If the job had taken all day, the price would have remained the same. Mr Electric assumed all liability and risk of the job taking longer than anticipated. Mr Electric is sorry that we could not win the Harvey's as cheerleader customers."
