Description of Work: I DID NOT USE ANY COMPANY WITH ANGIES LIST BECAUSE I FOUND A LOCAL COMPANY JUST THREE MILES FROM MY HOME TO DO THE WORK. I have decided to go with a local supplier here in Battle Ground, WA. S & R Flooring. They gave me the best price and they are local and give good service. Thank you for the information you gave me.

Our experience with Milan Stoneworks was very quick and simple. We met with Dan Ellis is Milan who walked us through the workshop to look at remnants of stone they had. While nothing in the remnants seemed to be the right size or color, we ended up choosing our countertops from the Santa Catalina stone. The measured, cut and everthing fit beautifully. Very easy to work with and would definitely return when we begin thinking about kitchen renovations.

The sales contact was accessible and responsive. I am very pleased with the end results. The natural stone patterns line up beautifully. There was a little hic cup with the template. I should have worked more closely with Milan when the template was being drawn out and the gentleman from Milan should have called me over to finalize the layout. That being said Milan worked with me to correct the problem promptly and effortlessly. ( 60 yr old rookie error ) Milan was/is also very good at being available to do any necessary follow up after the initial installation.

Please see the description of services performed for info on how it went.
Description of Work: We did a complete remodel of our kitchen using RMJ Construction (did review on his services as well), and RMJ used Milan as their subcontractor for the granite slab countertops. Thus, I did not rate the price, because I do not know what other companies would've charged for similar. We had granite countertops put in though in 2005 or so which were a very terrible install, so we have that experience to compare Milan to. Milan was excellent to work with. Through our general contractor, much of the behind the scenes happened, but our experience, and the finished product, were wonderful. They came out to template for the countertops once the lower cabinets were installed. They had excellent attention to detail, and the template was incredibly precise. Later that same afternoon they had me come to their workshop where the template was laid out along with the slabs of granite that we had picked out. The man who helped me set the template on the stone was a real artist. He guided me through where the seams in the granite would be, and where would be good to match up so the seams were as unnoticeable as possible. We started with the section of granite on the eating bar, which would be the most noticed, and moved from there around the kitchen aligning the grain of the granite (because we got one with a lot of movement to it, instead of a solid or speckley type of granite. The end result was absolute beauty. We got a honed, or aged, topped granite, which means it is not a highly polished surface, but feels more like leather. They made the edges of the granite exactly match the top. The seams are barely noticeable, and superbly done (which our previously installed one was not). The whole finished product is level (which our previously installed one was not). I doubt that Milan is the cheapest granite installer out there. If you are looking for the absolute most economical, I don't think you'll land with them. However, if you want your granite countertops to be top notch awesome, and installed perfectly, you can't go wrong with using Milan. We have also used them earlier in the year to install a remnant slab in our guest bathroom as the top of the vanity, and it is also perfect. If I ever need granite slabs installed again, I will definitely use them and none other.

Excellent. This is the company you want to work with for such an important project, selecting and installing countertops. You will not be diappointed. They will help you with every step of the process and always deliver. They work hard to save you money and make sure you are satisfied. They exceeded every expectation we had and I cant give enough praise. We intially began working with another company which was not delivering so I contacted Milan Stoneworks and explained our situation. Within the day they came out and gave us a quote, met with me the next morning in their showroom and helped me select a remenant of quartz to save some money in our bathroom. The next week they came out for templating, & did fabricating (you get to pickout exactly how you want it cut so there is no surprises) and installation. The entire project was completed in less tham 2 weeks which was phenomenal. They even created a lazy susan piece for my table from the granite slab in our kitchen. Loved working with this company!

My wife and I just bought a house. We decided to remodel before moving in. The old kitchen counters, while beautiful in their time were old, tired, and worn and needing to be replaced. After reading various reviews on the web, including consumer reports, we decided to settle on quartz because of its durability and appearance. We checked out a few of the top rated marble, granite, quartz installers in the Portland area. We decided on Milan for an number of reasons: (1) Aaron Mayo, the owner is very personable and helpful, I really felt like he was looking out for our best interest, (2) their prices were fair and reasonable, (3) positive reviews on Angie's list, and (4) lots of experience working with quartz, not just marble and granite. Working with Milan was a great experience from start to finish. One thing I especially appreciate is how respectful they were of our newly installed hardwood floors and newly painted walls. They were very flexible and were willing to work around our schedule. I found everything at Milan helpful and good natured. A great experience for us, I highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again for our bathroom vanity tops.

We initially looked on Angie's List for fabricator/installer recommendations and settled on 3 of those, and initially emailed to them photos of the kitchen and a drawing with measurements of the counter area to be covered. Milan responded within a day with a general bid. Another installer did not respond even though they said they would as soon as they received an email from us with details. Another supplied a bid a week later (which was high). We asked Milan if they would send someone to the house to firm up their emailed bid and it was probably the following morning that Justin, one of their installers arrived, on time. He was friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions. So, we went ahead with Milan, and their initial bid remained firm. We subsequently added to our initial plans a carved out dish drain area next to the sink and this naturally increased the bid. Everyone at Milan, from Dan Ellis who we mainly dealt with on the phone and in writing up the contract, to Justin and the other installers, and Stu the sawyer who worked with us on deciding which parts of the slab we wanted where and how the cuts should be made, were friendly, professional and for the most part prompt. When we received Dan Ellis' email bid he listed four local suppliers of Carrara and the separate prices on their current supply of Carrara slabs, plus, his opinion on which of these were the most beautiful. When we went the following day to look at all the available slabs he was definitely right and we went with his initial suggestion. We had tiles on our back-splash going up to the cupboards which we wanted to save and were hopeful that during the tear-out of the old counters they could remove the bottom row of these tiles without damaging those above. They did a beautiful job of this. When we went to their facility to sign the contract we were happy to see they don't have fancy "digs" - one reason why they must be able to keep their services within a reasonable price range. Our only "complaints": One of the fabricated marble pieces was very large (which was great because we ended up having only one small seam at the middle of the sink) and because we live in a townhouse with stairs up to the main floor we suggested it might be easier to navigate if they went through the backyard and through the kitchen door. This still required going up some stairs. There were three strong guys doing this, but it was definitely a stretch. It took them about 15 minutes to just get up the strategy and the nerve to heft it up those steps and around a curve into the kitchen. They did it, but at what wear and tear on their bodies we hate to imagine. For a piece that large, and heavy, we wish they had brought in at least one more person, or tool, whatever, to facilitate this. The only other thing - Milan had never carved out a dish drain like the one we wanted. It was a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, just what we wanted; however a crack in the marble, which was apparently revealed during the process (and not as a result of the process) was quite visible, although it had been neatly repaired, and yet the installers made no mention of it and we only noticed it after they had left. We wished it was they who had pointed it out to us rather than leaving it to us to discover and be somewhat dismayed about. As it turns out, the dish rack pretty much covers it, and nothing's perfect. Having worked in the craftsman field, we know how it goes. We would highly recommend the entire crew, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The process went relatively smoothly and took a total of four weeks from start to finish. Sharon, the designer, spent many hours with us choosing tile, granite slabs, paint colors and helped to keep the process moving. The demolition was done in one day and was very clean and protective of the rest of the house. They scheduled the work so that time was not wasted between demolition to completion. We even got to go to the shop and decide how we wanted the granite slabs cut. They were terrific. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had a cement countertop and island removed and replaced with granite. They helped us choose the granite slab and configuration for the sinks (we had one in the island and on the perimeter counter top) and the design of the backsplash. They also helped us in finding the plumber, general contractor and painter.

I was very pleased with the responsiveness and quality of the work of Milan Stoneworks. From the start, through the contracting process, Justin was very patient and responsive while we were deciding on the material and color . He listened carefully to our needs and suggested Quartz (for environmental reasons, as well as the quality and durability that we were looking for). Milan let us check out several samples from their showroom. Lastly, the fabricators and installers did an excellent job. We are very pleased with the results!

Milan Stoneworks was one of the four contractors I contacted for bids on replacing my my kitchen counter. I was immediately impressed the first time I called because they were courteous, professional and friendly. All the other contractors did not even offer to come out to look at the job and gave me an estimate sight unseen. Milan was very responsive and Robin promptly came out to give me an estimate. He was punctual, professional, responsive, knowledgeable and meticulous about his approach to the job. I was very impressed. Their bid came in very close to the "sight unseen" bids, and the decision was very easy. Throughout the project, Robin was a good listener, responsive and the ultimate professional. His work team was also very professional, friendly and meticulous in their cleanup. I always felt that I was an important customer to them. He was kind enough to tell me that there is a slab of leftover quartz when they cut my kitchen counter and they can hold onto it for me (for no cost) if/when I want to use it. So, I ended up replacing the bathroom counter for a very reasonable cost. My bathroom configuration is such that when we open/close the door, there is less than 1/2 inch space between the door and the counter, so I was concerned that it would be a problem if there was just a tiny error in measurement. They nailed it within 1/8 inch. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Milan and they would be the only company I would contact if I needed this type of work to be done.

Milan made the entire process of upgrading our countertops easy and we love the results. I actually had Milan come out and give me an estimate almost 2 years ago. Our project got delayed but I always thought in the back of my mind that I would like them to do the countertops whenever we decided to continue with our kitchen remodel. I am so happy that I did. Every person I came in contact with at the company was great to work with.

My general recommended them after having a cheap fabricator do such a poor job in his kitchen that he had to rip the counters out and call Milan, who he was pleased with. Milan helped me a lot when it came to figuring what type of countertop to go with. We were really indecisve and thought about soapstone, quartz (chroma, silestone, cambria), granite AND marble. Despite that I changed my mind from every material available at one point or another, they patiently gave me bids and walked me through the buying process. Unlike other fabricators I talked to who basically had the attitude of "call me when you are ready to install," they worked with me every step of the way. Aaron stopped by before my countertop went in to look at my space and hand deliver a sample when I was stuck at home with a sleeping child. Charlie and Jen answered a ton of my questions about the pros and cons of one material over the other and recommendations of where I'd find what I was looking for. Robin, the template guy was a hilarious, fun guy with a good eye who gave me a recommendation on a backsplash. He is charming. I went with his idea for backsplash and love the results. While I was initially disappointed in a chip in the marble, they worked with me to find a perfect resolution that wowed my husband and I. Charlie is amazingly upbeat and responsive. Aaron will bend over backwards to look at all the slabs you like. Even if you might pay more for their services, they are the whole bundle and will leave you reassured and happy at the end of your project.

Great service, even though this was small job, we were made to feel like our project was important! Charlie, the Office Manager, did a great job of communicating and following up on appointments, job status etc. They also bid (it was timely and detailed) on a more expensive Caesarstone installation, however, we decided to install tile and use another vendor. We wanted input on where the vanity was cut from the granite, and upon visting their shop, "Stu" was patient and helpful in deciding the best place to make all the cuts. The actual finished work was beautiful, cut perfectly, polished and installed without any issues. We would definitely use Milan again and refer them to others!
Description of Work: Milan sold us a remnant of Kashmir White granite for a 36" bathroom vanity. They came out and measured/created a template, cut and polished the granite, installed the undercounter sink and returned to install the granite and a backsplash (cut from the remnant).

I had dealt with Jen, Aaron, and Robin previously with much smaller projects. We had instant rapport. The whole team is very patient, accommodating, and professional. The installation took place while we were travelling - testimony enough to the faith we've placed in them. It covered two days worth of work. We came home to the finished product, and a couple of minor issues notwithstanding, were very satisfied with the quality of workmanship and product. The minor issues involved some baseboard molding which had to be removed to "shim up" a slight sag in the cabinetry, and an undersized hole for the insta-hot water system we had added, which needed to be re-bored. Both issues were dealt with the very next day, adding to our overall satisfaction.
Description of Work: Aaron and Robin paid a visit to our house about 3 weeks prior to the actual performance of services to take measurements, and answer questions. We had deliberated over whether to install granite or chroma quartz for our kitchen counter-tops. When we first visited the plant for this particular installation, Aaron recommended the chroma quartz, since it would be more stain resistant than granite, and potentially less expensive. We chose the "Cascade White" model inasmuch as it had enough pigmentation to make it interesting

Our entire experience with Milan Stoneworks was excellent. From the original estimate to the final installation, the whole process went like clockwork. We're very pleased with our new slab granite kitchen countertops. John was very accommodating. We needed one slab plus part of a second slab, but instead of paying for two slabs, he suggested using a remnant piece which matched. That saved us quite a bit of money, and given the current economy, that was much appreciated. The template maker, demo man & all the installers were meticulous, professional, & personable. The follow-up was excellent--an installer came back out to smooth two small rough spots in the granite. He also brought a matching granite trivet & a round "lazy susan" which had been crafted from the same remnant. We would definitely have Milan Stoneworks do more work for us---next time, the bathroom counters.
Description of Work: Milan Stoneworks helped us pick out slab granite for our kitchen counters. They made a template of our counters & then fabricated the countertops. Installation was impressive given the heavy granite. Custom work for the sink & faucet was very precise. Excellent installation.

We were referred to Milan as part of our kitchen remodeling project. At the time, we were thinking of Quartz countertop and John came out to give us an estimate. We then went twice to Pental in NW Portland to browse through the Quartz and Granite options. The one that we really liked was a Granite from Brazil so John revised the estimate for the new material. We then met John at Pental to pick out the exact slabs to be used and set them aside. Milan came out on April 19 to tear out the old countertop and create a template for the new ones. We then went to their location in SE Portland to work with Stu on exactly how we wanted to lay out the template on the actual granite. The installation went very well - it took a couple of trips due to some complications, but Milan was committed to a quality job and we were delighted with the results. The matching of the back splash to the countertop with the complex design was amazing and the complicated pattern for the island came out extremely well. We found everybody to be very easy to work with. The only, very minor, problems we had were with communication. We were sometimes told different things about details by one person and then told something different by another. However, we are extremely pleased with the outcome and would highly recommend Milan.

Everyone we worked with at Milan was friendly and helpful. They have a great reputation (in speaking with other vendors who are assisting with our remodeling projects). We noticed that the undermount sink was slightly skewed (a little off) after the new granite countertop was in place and mentioned it to Milan in a follow up phone call. They immediately made arrangements for a second visit and straightened the sink at no additional charge. They will be installing a granite countertop in our kitchen next.

I called Milan to get an estimate on replacing my kitchen counter tops. John, the salesman came out to the house and took the measurements and answered several questions that were answered slightly differently by each company that we got an estimate from. Our biggest concern was how they were going to place the granite under the appliance garage that sits directly on top of the existing counter tops. We were not planning on replacing cabinets and didn't want someone to come out and do a hatchet job to our cabinet in order to make enough room for the added thickness of the granite. Milan was the only company that we got a bid from that was willing to have a cabinet builder come out and remove the appliance garage before demolition and then replace it after the granite was placed. Even though we ended up with a small trim piece around the appliance garage, the gap at the base of the appliance garage was only about 1/8 of an inch. We did encounter a few minor setbacks. The piece of granite in the laundry room broke at a very thin spot next to the sink and had to be re-cut but they had that done in a couple days and were back out to install it. Because the space behind the laundry room sink was so vulnerable to breaking again, they asked if they could cut the laundry sink hole in place. Knowing what we know now about granite dust, we would have taken more time to mask off cabinets/walls etc! The laundry room was hazy and dusty but the counter top was in place and unbroken! Milan also was able to solve a small rough area on the seam in the kitchen and set the stove back into place without having a gap for crumbs and food to fall between the counter and stove. I was pleased that Aaron did not give me the excuse that "it fits within the parameters of the industry standard" - he came back to make it right. When the counter tops were in place, the cabinet builder came back and placed the appliance garage and did some finish work. We would be happy to work with him again also. He too, was prompt, courteous and professional.

John Olson came over and gave us an estimate to replace our kitchen countertops and explained that with the amount of granite we would need for the counters and island, that we would have enough left over to do the countertops in our laundry room. We were totally shocked by the price as it was much lower than we anticipated. John gave us the names of stone companies in the area and John even met us at the stone company when we had made our final decision to let us know if we had enough product to complete the project. John was always there when we needed him and was very, very prompt in returning phone calls and text messages. John and our cabinet refinisher worked together to make sure that the entire project was seamless. John and his crew came in and tore out our old countertops, the templates were made for the granite, the cabinet refinishers finished their work and one day after they were finished, the granite countertops were installed. Dave and Jesse, who did the installation were great. Before they left, they made sure that I knew how to care for the granite and gave me a list of everything I needed for maintenance. The professionalism of John, Dave and Jesse were above and beyond what one would expect. John is a wonderful front man for the company and Dave and Jesse are great at what they do and the owners are very lucky to have 3 such wonderful employees. I would recommend Milan Stoneworks to anyone who reads this report.
Description of Work: We had our countertops in our kitchen and laundry room removed and replaced with granite. We were having our cabinets refinished by another company and they referred us to Milan Stoneworks as a company that they partner with.
