Called the plumber on a Friday because the water in the kitchen sink was steadily running and leaking into the basement. Initially, their scheduling department wanted to schedule me for the following week. Because I objected to being without a working kitchen sink for the weekend, they sent out somebody that afternoon. I appreciated the consideration. The plumber (Mark) diagnosed the problem as a bad cartridge in the faucet. He went out and returned within the hour with a new cartridge and installed it. A week later, I discovered that the faucet still had a leak, albeit a much slower leak. I called the office on Saturday, but the office was closed. They had an "emergency" number, so I called that number, but it went straight to voicemail. Apparently, they didn't consider my problem an emergency, because nobody called me back. I called again on Monday, and the scheduling lady told me that someone would call me to schedule an appointment to come out again. But nobody called, so I called a third time on Tuesday. Mark came out that afternoon and told me I needed a new faucet. I was annoyed; the kitchen had been completely remodelled less than 5 years ago. You'd think that the hardware would have a longer lifetime than that. However, according to the Home Depot website, there are many negative reviews of of this Price Pfister faucet. http://reviews.homedepot.com/1999/100067040/reviews.htm According to one reviewer, I could've gotten the manufacturer to send me a new faucet. I didn't know this, but would likely have went and bought a new faucet anyway, as being without a functioning kitchen sink for a week or ten days while I packed up and shipped the old faucet to the manufacturer and waited for it to send me the new hardware just wasn't an option. So I went and bought a new faucet that afternoon. Another guy from Bruner, by name of Joe, came to install it the following day. He was punctual, did a careful job. Both guys were very nice and polite and left my kitchen clean. Company charges for travel time at the same rate they charge for labor. They may markup parts purchased for a job - hard to tell from my internet search for the part in question.
Description of Work: Replacement of faucet cartridge; then a week later, remove old faucet and install new faucet.

They responded promptly with phone call to give me an estimate. We scheduled time for them to do the work, but the repairmen was a couple of hours late. When he removed the drain faucet from my old tank, it broke off and spewed water all over the garage floor. My old tank was 17 years old, so I guess something like that was not out of the norm. I took lots of my towels to soak up the mess. He didn't make any effort to clean things up before he left. Otherwise, the installation went good. He strapped the tank to the wall for earthquake protection. but it left quite a mess in my garage. He was friendly and apologetic, but I didn't like the way he left my garage.
Description of Work: Installed new tank-type hot water heater.

After we flushed our water heater on our own, we could not get water pressure back to the kitchen faucet. We also damaged a bathroom faucet when removing an aerator. Called several plumbing compaines on Sunday afternoon. Bruner was one of two that called us back. Burner came the next day and we were very happy with the work!

The appointment was for morning, and we were ready. Allen called and left a message that he'd be here between 9 and 9:30 AM, and he was. Work was done quickly, competently, and courteously. I am so happy to be back to having hot water for dish washing and showers and so on. Thank you Bruner Plumbing.
Description of Work: While I was at work on Thursday, my husband called to say the 19 year old gas water heater was leaking all over the garage floor. We called a different company first that calls themselves the water heater king (George Morlan Plumbing) who bid $763 and said we'd have to wait to replace it on Saturday. We called Bruner plumbing and were told $650 for next day service. That's $113 less for the same make and model of water heater. We have had Bruner plumbing in before, so were happy to have them do the work.

Couldn't have been better. Arrived within an hour of our call - even though he was on the way home for the day - and fixed the problem within an hour.
Description of Work: Our washing machine began to back up during the rinse cycle and was overflowing our laundry room upstairs and was leaking downstairs. Once he arrived, he snaked out the entire drainage clearing the blockage and checked that it was working properly before he left.

While trying to twist off the outdoor spigot for replacement, we accidentally twisted the whole pipe which then broke off about 12 " inside the wall. This happened at about 2:00 on a weekday. We immediately looked on Angie's for a local plumber and called Bruner. They had someone to the house at 4:00. We had already opened up about 2 sq ft of wall in a downstairs bedroom, exposing the pipe. We also removed siding on the outside to expose the pipe. There was no leaking as we had turned off the water before starting anything. Mark quickly repaired everything and there are no leaks. Faucet works great.

Allan arrived within the promised time window and was done in about 20 minutes. He had all the parts in his truck. My only complaint (which I knew about in advance) is that we are charged for a full hour of time even when the job only takes a fraction of an hour.
Description of Work: We have an outdoor faucet that dripped and leaked all the time. I thought it was the hose and spent way too much time and money buying new gaskets and hoses. Bruner diagnosed a cracked hose bib and replaced it in about 20 minutes. I haven't seen even one excess drop since it was fixed.

I have been trying to switch out my old Delta faucets in the shower. They aren't code anymore, and so it was more complicated than it seemed. I had spent 6 months between a plumber at a plumbing supply store and a different plumber trying to figure it out. They kept special ordering parts which didn't work and I wasted countless hours running back to the store. Not to mention putting up with the hole I had opened up in the wall in preperation. I explained the problem to Ward, who was able to diagnose the situation over the phone. He sent a plumber out within a few days, with the parts they needed to complete the job that day. When he needed a part, they had someone bring it to him, so he could keep working. Allan was clean, polite and very competent. They might be a little more expensive than others, but for good reason, you certainly get your money's worth.

We were not pleased. He installed cast iron pipes instead of copper, but changed to copper on our request. The faucet handles were not installed properly. Some parts are missing and one handle falls off. He returned to try to fix it, but was unsuccessful, and other plumbers who have looked at the job feel that the faucet was modified during installation and is not fixable. He worked on our kitchen as a subcontractor.

I was extremely impressed with the promptness to the call and the knowledge portrayed. They were able to tell a construction company's mistakes simply by looking at photos I took of the installation. Very motivated and paid close attention to details of the drains and the goose neck problem. He snaked the drains to make sure no other problems were present. I felt better having him look at the issues. I will be able to change other work done incorrectly due to his advice. Any plumbing issues we have in the future we will call Bruner first

Job 1: Bruner plumbing had done a great job on a previous job for us so it was very convenient to call a professional, reliable source and just get the job done. That is exactly what happened. No fuss, no muss, now we are ready for the city inspectors final on our completed renovation. Job 2: The work was performed according to spec with professional attention to current plumbing code which later passed the city inspectors keen scrutiny with flying colors. Additionally, beyond the call of duty, in order to pass the inspection pressure test, Bruner loaned us a $45. pressure fitting which he trusted we'd later return to him, which we did. This saved us time and money and needless to say, made the project move along faster.
Description of Work: Job 1:The new drain pipe we'd installed in crawl space under the house required stiff legs along the run to avoid being bumped or moved and it was a requirement to pass final permit inspection.($225.) Job 2:The work detail involved attaching exiting new drain pipe for additional bathroom add-on, to the existing city outlet connection under the house.($120.)

The quality of the work was fine, but it was very difficult getting it actually done. Allen rescheduled several times - if my retired mother had not been here visiting, it would have been impossible for me to take off work for so many scheduled visits. The main reason for calling was to fix the water to the ice maker - on his first visit he superficially looked at the pipe and said that it worked and it must be the brand new refrigerator/ice maker. It turns out it was major corrosion in the galvanized pipe and it had to be replaced. Getting Allan out here for the second visit was a major ordeal and then when I got the bill he tried to charge me for two visits. I will say that when I called to question the bill, it was easily rectified. I want to replace three toilets, but will not use Bruner - too much hassle.

Allan Hall, the service plumber, was courteous, prompt, clean, and didn't dally in his work. Presumably the initial repair did not work because of the age of the faucet, about 38 years old. We would call him again for subsequent plumbing problems. We thank Angie's List for this referral.
Description of Work: 1st visit: replaced cartridge in kitchen faucet fixture spout. No leak for 1 day. 2nd visit: returned 3 days later to replace 34+ year kitchen faucet which I purchased on his recommendation.

They were able to schedule me a day after I called and come in the morning as requested. The job was completed and the leak is fixed. My only complaint is the amount of time spent at the truck seemed excessive given the simplicity of the job. That meant I got charged for another 1/4 hour. Other than that a good experience.

We have an older Portland home and had a real lack of flow and pressure. In addition our 50 gallon hot water tank started to leak. Rather than trying to fix our old pipes and replacing our heater, we decided to make sure the problems were addressed by re-piping and bringing in new service and going with an instantaneous solution (Takagi). Ward Bruner and his crew were great. They accommodated our schedule, even when the lead man got sick and had to miss a few days, and finished the job on schedule and under budget. Even gave me a hand with a gas stove install that I was working on at the time. Best plumbers out there.

Bruner Plumbing was able to come out in two days when other companies were a week to ten days out. Alan called me in the morning as planned and let me know when in the day he would be out. He was on time and polite.
Description of Work: Had a pinhole leak in a galvanized hotwater line. Alan recommended putting a metal clamp on the pipe to stop the leak ($7.00 part)rather than replacing a 15 foot length of the pipe at much more expence. Replacing the length of pipe was going to cost about$250.00. This was much less than the $536.00 quote from another plumbing company that came out. He gave me both options, his recommendation, and left it to my choice. Other plumbers wanted only to go the most expensive route. He clamped the pipe and was done in 10 minutes. Since minimum charge is one hour time, we spent more time reviewing other items to be fixed in the house. I certainly felt I got my moneys worth.

It was great. Allen has 30 years of experience, is smart, customer service saavy, and very honest. I was so pleased to have the use of my existing faucet for the weekend and still have the option to pick out a better one over the weekend - with only one house call (1st hour costs more) charged to me. The whole thing cost $172.25. They also came very soon after I called them on Friday when no one else could come. This was a very different experience to the one I had with a plumbing company who advertises a lot and sends out refrigerator magnets and coupons for $25 off. That company charged me $222.50, that after using a $25 coupon that had been sent to me in the mail. They were at my house for 1 hour 15 min. because I had other things I planned to fix. I soon found out that I couldn't afford it! They are a flat-rate company and charge by each thing they fix. I paid $222.50 for a toilet ''rebuild'' which was just replacing 3 or 4 inner components of the toilet. The plumber was good though.
Description of Work: Allen fixed the existing kitchen faucet. When I saw that it was a knock-off and not a well-known brand, I decided I didn't want that faucet any more! I figured it would just break again in the next 2 months. This was on a Friday. So Allen said he wouldn't charge me for a 2nd house call if I wanted to pick out another faucet over the weekend. He said he'd come 1st thing on Mon. a.m. I bought a Price Fister & he was ready to come over as he said, 1st thing on Monday a.m. So, I had my old faucet fixed for the weekend & had a new one put it on Monday a.m. It ended up being 1 1/2 hours of labor and no parts.

Able to schedule work within a week of my call, and installer was even a little early for the appointment. I left a voicemail and sent an email with couple questions prior to day of repair, but did not receive any return call or reply to my email. This resulted in some confusion over the parts needed to complete the job. Also, hourly rates and minimum time charged were not explained to me when I called to schedule the appointment (i.e.- one rate for jobs over four hours, different rate for jobs under four hours).
Description of Work: They removed an old tub faucet/valve and installed new faucet/valve. A new shower valve was installed. They would have removed two sinks and faucets if time permitted. I wanted the job kept to 3 hours, if possible. The installer was at my house for just a little longer than that. However, I was also charged for his drive time and what I presume was office time.

They took about 2 weeks before anyone came out for an estimate. The fellow that did seemed to know what he was talking about and very helpful. They took another week or two to get a written bid. It was vague and left a lot of things unwritten. Neverless, I finally got to speak with Mr. Bruner. He was a very nice man easy to work with and would have hired there company except his bid was about a thousand dollars more then some others I received.
