Everything went wonderfully! David did a great job, the repairs have held up since the work was done a few weeks ago. He was also very good with our pets and was careful not to leave doors open, which is a very strict rule in our home. We'll definitely use this company again!!

They did fine, though expensive and somewhat slow.

Michael arrived on time, reviewed the list carefully with me and then proceeded to quietly (he was very unobtrusive and made it easy for me to continuing my work while he took care of everything) fix all the items.Michael did a great job on all the items on my list (I checked - at his encouragement - the quality of all the completed items) PLUS he also fixed items not on my list that he ran across during the 4 hours he was there. In fact, Michael did such a great job that I plan on using him again in a couple of weeks on a couple of larger construction type items that I wanted done.

They wanted too much money for an easy job

The whole experience was excellent. I got a call back the same day and was promptly put on the schedule with 48 hours. Justin was very courteous and professional and walked me through various approaches to solve my needs. He was conscious of seeking efficient solutions so as to manage the cost incurred by me as well. I was impressed with his wide degree of knowledge particularly on the complex electrical issues I was having.

Top-notch service. Very skilled and thorough at an accelerated pace. Very reasonable pricing and large crew.

I was out of town and heard my mailbox got run over. I fretted about it for a week until I finally decided to hire Handyman Matters from the Angie's list listing. Kory was awesome on the phone. He took a look immediately, was flexible in how to go about - it at my request, scheduled it within days, and then turned around and got it done the same day!! All while I was out of town. And the way they fixed it will allow easier repair when someone runs over my mailbox again. Essentially I worried for a week, then had it all done in a half day after calling. They got it done for less than the estimate and it looks great. The only thing they could have done better is the photography. The "after" pictures were too blurry to appreciate how well they did. :) After this experience, I plan to hire them for some other projects around the house. This was a WOW!

Kelly from Handyman Matters was fantastic. He showed up right on time, walked through the tasks on hand, and seemed eager for the challenges some of the projects posed. In the seven hours he was at our house, he repaired one ceiling fan, removed and replaced two other ceiling fans, removed and replaced a bathroom fan, removed and replaced an outlet, repaired three other outlets, and repaired a gutter. Wow! We will definitely hire them again the next time we need a handy person. We'll be requesting Kelly too!

Does not do free estimates, despite what the form on Angie's List says.

This was my first time working with Handyman Matters. I had an issue with possible floor damage due to moisture under a toilet that had been removed. I was expecting to have to have the floor replaced. As it's a rental, I wanted to get someone in and out as quickly as possible so as to inconvenience the tenants as little as possible. My first pleasant surprise was when I called to arrange for an appointment. Someone actually answered the phone--no interminable recordings telling me that my call is important! Leslie arranged an appointment for several days later. When the day came, Kelly showed up right on time--actually, a few minutes early. We checked out the job and, after investigating above and below (in the crawl space), Kelly determined that the fix was much simpler than replacing the floor. He got that completed in a short period of time. As there is a four hour minimum charge, I came up with another project that I had been putting off--removing some tamper-proof hardware that had secured security bars on a rental. He went to work and that job was actually bigger than I thought. With the hardware removed and the mounting holes filled, he was packing up his truck just as the four-hour mark approached. One potential pitfall was that it was suggested that I have the materials (flooring and base molding) on site ready to be installed when Kelly arrived. I was a bit unsure about that and didn't want to purchase the materials if they weren't going to be used. I had decided that I would wait until Kelly arrived to determine what needed to be done. I was prepared to pick up the materials if necessary while the old floor was being torn up. As it turned out, that was a good decision as that did not need to be done. Making the initial appoint was a very efficient process. Kelly is professional and easy to work with. Handyman matters seems to have a nice balance in size--not too big to be impersonal but big enough to arrange for the job to be done in a reasonable time. Several of the one-man handyman services that I contacted were either too busy to be able to do the job in a timely manner (booked out weeks in advance) or I had to leave a message not knowing when I would hear back. Thanks to Leslie and Kelly for a job well done.

Stephen worked a miracle, completing a gravel path from our back porch to the chicken coop in a matter of hours - it would have taken me weeks! He did several other things I could not have done, including replacing bulbs in a chandelier hung 12 feet high. He was extremely efficient and fun to have around (loved our dogs, too!)

Beware – You Decide, In 2016 we hired Handyman Matters to remodel one of our bathrooms, after some confusion as to whom was going to buy the tile and how much was needed (we not being tile experts and thinking this is something they would tell us) the bathroom was completed and we were happy with the results and especially their worker who did a great job. So in 2017 when we thought we would remodel our second bathroom, we again went to Handyman Matters. Once again there was some confusion with when they would be able to come to our house to look at the bathroom and give us an estimate. They finally did do this and gave us an estimate showing approximately 110 -120 hrs of labor. Once again, we told Handyman Matters we wanted to go ahead with the work starting in October, paying a deposit in June and not wanting the work to begin until October. October came and the work started as scheduled. The work progresses and there did not seem to be any major snags or problems. But a few times in these first few weeks the worker told us he had to go to other job sites to help out or straighten out other people’s messes. We had no problem with this at first. But November came and the bathroom work was not finished. The worker was not on site every day, and there were delays caused by materials not being on site when needed, but as November 2017 continued we started seeing less and less of the main worker. He would continue to tell us that he had to go to other sites to help out or finish a job. This continued and got worse in the weeks in November. It continued to the middle of November when the worker told us that he was told by his boss not to finish our work, but go to another work site instead. The worker stated he had to listen to his boss. This all came to end, in the middle of November when the worker did not show up on a Wednesday and Thursday and promised to be there on Friday. He did come at about 5 PM and worked until about 9 PM. Then promised he would be back on Saturday and Sunday. Guess what? He never showed up on Saturday and called on Sunday to say he would be over in 10 minutes, but then never showed up! The worker would always point the finger to his boss saying that he was told not to work on our bathroom and to go somewhere else, but then we called the owner of the company (Kory) and talked to him, we were told that the worker did not know how to schedule his time and has done this several times in the past. Enough was enough and we fired Handyman Matters. The estimate we received from them was for a complete bathroom remodel. When we fired them, the tiles were installed but not grouted, the toilet was not installed, the sink and vanity was not installed, a new shower door was not installed and a small new towel closet was not installed. All these items were listed on our original estimate. So in the end we had to hire other companies to do this work at a additional cost to us. After we fired Handyman Matters they sent us a final bill that included and additional charges for labor. Kory very quickly pointed out that in their original estimate they have these words “Above figures are based on extensive experience in the industry. They are allowances for estimating purposes. Handyman Matters bills on a Time and Material Basis. Final costs will reflect hours worked and materials (incld. Industry standard mark-up) purchased for project.” When he talked to us about this final bill he very quickly mention that he had won many cases in small claims court about this. So it appears that to Handyman Matters the original estimate has no relationship to the final bill, they can add on costs as they wish. Kory did come by and make an adjustment to the final bill, but the amount of money we settled on paying Handyman Matters was about the same as the original estimate they provided us, but please note all the work that was left undone. Very messy. At this same time my wife was having some very serious Medical problems and we just did not have the energy to argue with Kory. In our last discussion with Kory I mentioned that we would not be writing good reviews for Handyman Matters and it he said that he expected that and did not seem to be bothered by it. To be honest, we did not keep track of the hours the worker put in on the site. We trusted them, we should not have. The worker was coming and going some days, and training new employees other days, something the main worker admitted was slowing him down. So Beware if you are considering Handyman Matters, be very detailed with everything you talk about with them, and keep track of the hours their workers work! Have in writing start days and the project completion date.

I had a water leak over my dining room and found Handyman Matters through Angie's List. They had Wayne available with 1 day, although my schedule moved him around 3 times before he was able to start work. Leslie was so helpful (read tolerant) in dealing with our screwy schedule that it really helped take the pressure off. Wayne was able to locate the leak coming from the upstairs bathroom and fix that, evaluate the joist for rot (thankfully not a problem), replace the water damaged sheet rock, re-texture the ceiling matching the existing texture, and repaint all in two days. I was so satisfied that I added 3 additional projects, re-painting our stairway banister and and guard rail, repairing an outside water valve that didn't fully shut off, and a minor water repair. Good people, they to great work at a reasonable price, and I would highly recommend them.

So, how did it go --- The overall experience was way below my expectations. Pretty disappointing. First, they called me letting me know they had rescheduled the first appointment only 24 hours before what we had agreed a few weeks back. As I work full time, I had to rearrange my whole day at work. Secondly, I could see other companies installing Xmas lights in my neighbors houses in the same morning. Two houses had started and finished their job ( two story homes ) MUCH faster - even with the rain. I really regretted having hired Handyman Matters. Remember, Handyman Matters charges per hour, not per job/project. They didn't include my discount from Angies list into the payment - which is done directly to the contractor. I am waiting for their response regarding the damaged deck, and the replacement of the check to include Angies coupon. Seems like if you don't tell the contractor about it, he will charge you full price !! Really ?? Also -- They committed installing an electrical outlet, when they cannot do it, as they don't have the license. They left my home a little before closing the four hour commitment, and scheduled a second appointment to finish installing the patio lights and the Xmas lights. They just called me having to reschedule it, as it might rain ... what about the patio lights??? This company does not seem to value their customer interest, and customer service was VERY poorly done. I am writing a similar review in Next door ( Boone Slope, and Bettany areas in NW Portland ), YELP and Google. Cost: $380 for 4 hours, This was a rip off.

Great but doing in the winter wasn't a good time on my end of planning.

Overall it was terrible- they didn't finish the job saying it needed a professional electrician to connect. then why didn't the guy say it before when he went in the attic and reviewed the stuff and say it right away?? he took 45 mins to go to home depot to get supplies and charged like a 40% markup despite me calling ahead of time and telling them what fittings are needed (based on what hvac contractor told me earlier). so 6 hrs for one guy and 4 hrs for a second guy.... Now I have find an electrician to complete the job. Have been dealing with over 10 different sub contractors from roofing to wood flooring to granite countertops over the last 3 months and this was by far the worst experience.

Justin McNair arrived as scheduled to begin working and was very friendly and professional from the start. As a matter of fact, everyone I talked to--from the office staff on--were pleasant from the beginning. Justin looked over the work to be done and then gave me a written estimate for time and materials. Once it was accepted, he got busy and talked with me throughout the project, since there were unexpected problems: more rot under the boards, plus I had bought the wrong lumber to replace the old boards. He made some good suggestions and let me decide how to proceed. He was able to modify the boards to make them fit. Despite the heat and poor air quality, he worked diligently to get everything done and cleaned up afterwards. Setting up the rain barrel turned out to be tricky, since the kit wasn't easy to figure out, but he made some easy, simple modifications that were actually more efficient. When the work was done, he finished within the time and cost estimate. I was really pleased with the quality of the work and I will definitely continue to use this company in the future!

Kelly arrived on time and got right to work. He had three things going while I ran to the store to get a few parts we needed for the repairs which worked out great. He was knowledgeable, took care and did the jobs right, he did not take short cuts just to get them done. I would defiantly hire them again.

Kelly was prompt and ended up spending much more time than planned. The time to remove the old trim was more difficult than expected due to the poor quality of the initial installation. I had Kelly remove all the trim, even those that still looked good, so he good replace everything with a quality installation since the original trim was rotting and of poor quality. Kelly pointed out many problems with my initial window installation and corrected all those he could as he replaced the trim. The price adds up as they charge $80/hr plus $60 for a service call plus any materials (with a markup).

They were attentive to the project. They did the work without damage. They were a little slow to respond but once they got there they were fine. The price was very much in the market.

Handyman Matters scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out to reset our bathroom sink and to seal vents under the awnings of our house. On Monday of the week of the scheduled appointment they called to say that they could no longer fulfill their obligation of sending a handyman to do the vents due to an injury. It was not explained why they couldn't find someone else and they insisted on rescheduling on September 5th which was another 5 weeks out. Wow. At that time they were still going to send someone; however, to reset our bathroom sink on Friday August 11th. During this conversation the receptionist was rude and unprofessional. I heard back from them the day prior to the previously scheduled appointment for resetting the sink that they had cancelled that appointment too. This was the day prior on August 10th. It is obvious that they were over booked and could not complete these jobs with the personnel available. Also, I asked for a quote but was never once offered even a hint at what either part of job might cost. Maybe they do good work once they are there, but to schedule 3 weeks out and then add another 5 weeks - yes a grand total of 8 weeks to find someone to staple gun a few vents. And then to treat me rudely and cancel the other job that I had scheduled with no reason. Well they are not so handy.
