We were having three contractors doing work for us this summer that needed to be scheduled in sequence. First windows, then house painting, and finally the fence. Jeff was very accommodating to our needs and in fact arranged to remove the old fence that abutted the house prior to the painters coming. And then, he was able to start the fence immediately following the week the painting was done. Rick and Brian showed up at about 8 AM each morning and worked until 7 PM most days. The work took about 7 days to complete. They were extremely hard-working, polite and just plain nice young men. There was one error in that one of the two gates was hung to swing from the wrong post. Jeff spotted this right away and offered to correct it right then. Since my wife was out of town and she was the one most interested in this detail, I elected to have him wait to see if it really needed to be redone since it involved removing one of the gate posts and setting a new one. In the end, we did want the gate changed, and Jeff corrected it (at no charge). We have been very pleased with the new fence. The construction is better and more robust than the fence it replaced and it looks beautiful.

We contacted them through Angie's List and then spoke to them on the phone. The owner is quick, responsive, polite, and professional. He gave us a quote for the fence and a couple different gate types. They were busy during the summer, but they got us in about four weeks out - which worked well for us. They said it would take 2-3 days but ended up only taking one day. They put in new posts, put up new fence board, and installed a new gate. They had to take apart some of retaining wall we had in place. After they were done a few stones were still out of place. We called the owner and he came right out and fixed it. The fence looks great and is sturdy. The crew was very nice and kept me involved during the process, even asking if I'd like a rounded gate top. We plan to use them again when we do the rest of our fence.

Jeff was very prompt and professional. He showed up to do the estimate exactly when he said he would. We set the date, about a month out, to have the job started and the crew showed up and started when they said they would. The job site was left clean at the end of each day. The quality of the work and materials was top notch. I couldn't be happier with this company and I highly recomend them.

I had a side gate that needed to be replaced (wood rot), and was told by a couple other companies that the job was too small. Jeff came out to give me an estimate, and came by the next day to install the new gate. He was punctual for both appointments, and the new gate looks fabulous.

I am extremely happy with the work PDX Deck and Fence performed. From start to finish, they were a joy to work with. We were doing a major landscape remodel and at the last minute, our fencing person dropped out. I found PDX Deck and Fence via Angie's List and called them. After a little phone tag (Jeff was out of town and then I was out of town) I met with Jeff and he gave us a bid. Because we were working on a major project, there were times that Jeff had to work in with our other contractors (like the concrete guys) and do one component and then wait for the project to progress before he could start building the fence. He worked brillantly with the other contractors and the project flowed well with everyone working together so well. The fence they put in was even more beautiful than I imagined and where there was a logistical challenge (a big tree that made it difficult to wrap the fence around) Jeff creatively figured out a great, good-looking solution. After the fence, Jeff built and installed an arbor and pergola - he personally picked out the giant timbers. Jeff was a model of paitence when I couldn't decide exactly how I wanted the ends to look - he and his crew cut prototype after prototype and worked without complaint to get it just right for me. For part of the project I was overseas and I was impressed that Jeff diligently kept me in the loop, sending me pictures by text to show the progress or ask a question. Lastly, I was impressed with Jeff's amazing work ethic - he is one hard worker! Plus, he and his crew were just all-around great guys to work with. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!

Went great! The one team member worked alone most of the time, then others came to help him and they worked hard and efficiently. He was very careful and made a beautiful fence. They cleaned up the yard and were very polite. The fence hardware fell off and Jeff came right out and fixed all of them so that wouldn't happen in the future. We love our new fence and the experience was great!

Jeff and his crew did a fabulous job. From estimate to scheduling to completion. Everything went according to plan and the results are beyond what we expected. My wife was at home for the entire job and she commented that "those are the hardest working people I have ever seen!" I am already planning on the next project I will hire PDX to complete. I would give Jeff and his crew the highest recommendation possible.

I organized a neighborhood fence replacement and PDX Fence was one of 3 contractors to come out and give us a bid. PDX fence was the only company that came out with 2 people to measure all 10 yards. This sped up the process tremendusly and thier accuracy was above all the others who bid the job. Their bid was professional and easy to read and he had great pictures and examples of their work to show me and others that were in on the bid. They were the clear choice for the job. When they began work, it was a quick and painless process. Due to the size of the job (in the end 6 neighbors did fence work), and the amount of neighbors with fences, they did each yard in phases to minimize disruption to each of us. They discussed and built retaining walls in my yard along with removing all fence posts and fencing. The fence was completed in about 4 days and it's beautiful! Their quiality definately shows - the posts are straight and sturdy and the fence is beautiful. I'm not sure I can remember the last time I had a gate fully functioning on a fence, but now I have 3! The gates far surpassed my expectations. They are so sturdy and solid I know I'll be having working gates for years to come. PDX used larger posts near the gates to ensure stability - a great bit of quality!! Jeff and crew were so nice to work with. They were approachable with questions or concerns about the job, were clean in my yard and honestly were just nice to have around. I happily recommend them to friends and neighbors because I know they would continue the high level of craftmanship that they gave me.

PDX Deck and Fence gave us a quote for a solid 6 foot tall cedar fence along one side of our yard. The quote included a gate. The written quote was well-laid out with our preferred options clearly spelled out. A clean professional sketch was included and the legal statements were brief but comprehensive. The entire quote was on one sheet of paper! Contacting by phone was always easy.The crew was supposed to start Monday and finish Tuesday but they called a day or two beforehand to let us know there would be a one day delay. The crew arrived on time on Tuesday and FINISHED on Tuesday. They were quiet, polite and VERY hard-working. The crew played some music, but it was never too loud and never offensive. The guys worked steadily without long breaks to finish on time.If you want a quality experience with a quality final product, we would recommend PDX Deck and Fence.We would DEFINITELY hire PDX Deck and Fence again!

Jeff and his crew were good to work with!! The project was scheduled to accommodate our schedule involving electrical work by a separate contractor after demolition and before the start of construction. In addition Jeff crew moved two heavy wine cask planters on and off the deck and removed a concrete AC foundation. The project was delayed and required a Notice-To-Proceed from the Wolf Creek Water District and the resolution of a possible existing sewer line encroachment in proximity to the new pier footings. The delay in the start did not increase the project cost. A minor delay in the completion resulted from a shortage of railing material supplied by a subcontractor. Overall we are very satisfied with the new deck and our business relationship with Jeff Walter and PDX!!!

He ultimately would not do the job because he does not do roofs. He came out and showed me some of his work. It was beautiful work. He gave me information to go see them myself. Everything he did was custom. This guy knew his stuff. He showed me pictures and invited me to go look at them. There was lots of information. He told me when he was going to be out and he was out here then.

We received five bids and Jeff's at PDX Deck and Fence was the most precise, detailed bid of them all. He even put a drawing of the deck on the bid and this was really important to us because we liked the shape and appearance and just wanted it restored to it's original (and even better) beauty! And wow! They did a wonderful job, used high quality materials and guided us very well in the decision-making process, i.e., whether to use prestained boards (which we did and we are really glad we did). We are both pleased that in no way did Jeff ever try to pressure us about the choice of materials, he just explained our various options and explained the pros and cons of each. The crew was polite, always on time, and they worked diligently all week long. The best part was the work they did to shore up the under structure of the deck. Jeff and his crew went the extra mile rebuilding the framing without us even asking and didn't ask for another dime, even though we offered! Jeff sticks with the contract price! Turns out, the previous owners had really built the deck in three stages and parts of it were not even bolted to the house! Now it is! And now things are solidly in place and we know we will be able to enjoy this beautiful deck for many, many years to come. Oh yes, this is an important point to make--Jeff is very detailed oriented. He saw the job all the way through and made sure any flaws in the wood were addressed even to the point of replacing one of the long boards that had a naturally occurring defect, which he pointed out to us. So, a great experience from start to finish!

Our new deck and arbor are fantastic. Jeff and his team are great - so easy to work with, very professional and you can tell they take pride in their workmanship. The details matter and Jeff makes sure that what they are creating is high quality. From the massive amounts of cement used for footings, to the way in which they attached the deck to the house and all the other details along the way, I know our deck will last and continue to be an impressive addition to our home. Everything was done quickly, efficiently and exactly as Jeff described. I couldn't be happier. Jeff was very responsive and communicated well, keeping me informed of their progress and what to expect. We need to replace our fence next year and I will be calling PDX Deck and Fence to come back. I highly and enthusiastically recommend their services.

We heard that PDX Deck and Fence was highly recommended so we called for a bid on a Timbertech deck. Jeff came out to our home with ideas and options for our deck. We were instantly impressed with Jeff's attention to detail and knowledge of the Timbertech product. We were satisfied with the bid for the job. When the crew arrived they were punctual and organized. They removed our old deck and built a the new deck. The quality of work was superior. We are so pleased. The crew cleaned up and our new deck looked like a showplace. It is evident that Jeff and his crew value the customer and take pride on their work.

Jeff and Rick showed up on Wednesday at 8:00am and got right to work. They ran into an issue with the fence gate and had to get a jack hammer to get cement out from the original posts. They had to dig up part of the walkway to get to the concrete beneath the gate...they had planned to replace one gate post but ended up replacing two based on what they discovered when they dug down. They also replaced 5 other fence posts, one of the post boards was rotten so that was replaced, all of the fence tops were replaced and the gate looks fabulous! They also replaced the rotted wood bottom lip on the back of the fence facing our neighbors yard. The job took them 2 days and two of Jeff's other team members joined them to finish the job. Wow is all I can say...Jeff and his team are incredible! They worked hard, seemed to really enjoy working together; they all have an impressive work ethic...excellence is very important to them! The fence looks fabulous, the gate is a masterpiece...I have had to have my husband open and close it for the last couple of years and now, I can easily open it and close it myself! They raked all along the fence line on both sides of the fence when the work was done. They set up cutting space on the patio and everything was put back into order when they finished their work. They also re-cemented the stones in the walkway by the gate...and they cleaned all areas of dirt and/or mud. Everything was pristine when they were totally done. Now when we go into our back yard we cannot help but smile..our fence looks so much better and its' life has been prolonged by another 5-10 years! Thanks Jeff!

We found PDX Deck and Fence on the TimberTech website. Jeff came out quickly to bid the job and returned an estimate within a day or two. He gave us some welcome advice on the deck design and helped us to figure out what material to go with. It took three days for the crew to tear out the old deck, build a solid foundation, and lay the deck boards. Just three days more to completely replace our old falling-down fence with a solidly built board-on-board fence that has neighbors stopping by for a look (and our neighbors that share the fence are all very pleased with it). Everything is so solidly built and beautiful to look at, and we are constantly wandering out back to have another look. We are so impressed with the work itself, as well as with the crew: Jeff, Rick, Brad, and Brian were all wonderful to work with. (And they were so nice to our five year old, who was curious about everything and wanted to help.) We would absolutely recommend them, and have done so already for neighbors.

I was very pleased with my experience with PDX Deck and Fence. Not only were they wiling to do a small job (just a gate), but they were very responsive, on time, did a great job quickly, and at a very reasonable price. The original gate was built very poorly and the new gate is not only more solid but is built to last much longer (better hinges, correct pre-drilling so the wood didn't crack, etc, etc). Given that the rest of our fence is also pretty poor construction, I'm sure that I'll need a new fence in a few years and PDX Deck and Fence will be at the top of my list for getting that done.

Process from start to finish went extremely well. Jeff was very professional in bidding on the project and was prompt in responding to questions about the construction / permit process. Jeff was very knowledgeable about the City of Portland permit process. Jeff, Rick and team were a pleasure to work with and very considerate. The project from demolition to completion took five days as Jeff had anticipated and passed city of Portland inspection shortly thereafter. The deck looks great! We strongly recommend PDX Deck and Fence.

Showed up on time, it was raining/snowing, and they gave me an estimate, did the work that same day, and the charge was exactly as they said. They ended up working in the snow to get it done. They were amazing!

PDX Deck & Fence was punctual, arriving exactly at the agreed upon time. The cost was exactly the amount indicated on the estimate. The workmanship was outstanding. The project turned out better than I had anticipated. I would definitely use PDX Deck and Fence for future projects and would recommend it to friends.

Justin and Rick were punctual, professional and they did an excellent job. It looks fabulous. It took them 3 days to build and this was within the estimated timeframe. They were also within the estimated price range. I have some neighbors who are probably going to use them.
