Master Sweep

I called Master Sweep looking for an estimate on a repair of my fireplace. I left a couple of messages and the office person called me back after the 3rd message. She was difficult to communicate with in that she would say, "he can come out anytime. When would you like him to come out?" I'd suggest a time in the afternoon and she'd say, "how about 7:30am on a different day?" Finally, she said she could get him to come out on a day between 1 and 4pm. It was a busy day, but he could do it. I suggested that we find a day that isn't so busy. She said, "no let's just do the Friday between 1 and 4." I had a bad feeling like this wasn't going to happen. Plus I kept reminding her that this was for an estimate. She kept saying that she knew that, and she wanted to make sure he had the tools to to the job. (she didn't even really know what the job was.) On the day, I called to confirm that we were still on for the service guy to come out. She assured me that he would be out there. At 4:30, Jason called me and said that he couldn't make out to my house today. Great. An entire afternoon wasted. He asked if he could come out to my house at 7:30 am on a Saturday. No. That won't work. I gave him some days and times that would work. He said he needed to check the calendar and call me back. He did call me back and left a message for a day and time I wasn't available. I called their office and got the message machine. I told them that day and time wouldn't work. But the following days and times would. He never called me back. Looking at other review sites, this guy has a TON of complaints from not communicating, not showing up to shoddy workmanship. So, I think I dodged a bullet here. But thanks for wasting my time. How do these folks get an A on Angie's list??? Maybe this guy's office person sits around writing them.

We purchased their "Big Deal" for $97 for a sweep. I called, they responded quickly, came on time, and swept. While they were here, they gave me some information on the condition of our chimney and flue. They recommended we put rain caps on both sides of the chimney and we decided to do that, so the overall service was more expensive than the deal. We are happy with the service.

They got here when they said they would arrive, very professional, recommended improvements without being pushy.

They were on time (early by 10 mins actually). Explained the process, had me there for initial inspection, and cleaned the chimney in under 15 minutes. They also provided good recommendations for future maintenaince.

The crew arrived on time and completed work in a timely manner. They pointed out issues with my chimney which I was not aware of (missing caps) and suggested that I add caps to prevent further deterioration of my chimneys. They recommended that I go with the standard caps as they are less expensive. They installed the caps as described. I wasn't planning on spending the additional money for the caps but I am glad that they recommended installing them. Now I can rest easy that we can burn a fire safely and our chimneys will remain intact.

Did a good job, but was difficult to contact for follow up work due to change in admin personnel. That shouldn't be a problem when the new person is up to speed.

After a few voice mail messages, we connected with Master Sweep, made an appointment for a cleaning and inspection. They showed on time, were very efficient and performed the work as agreed. They thoroughly inspected the inside and outside of our chimney and let us know its condition. They left our living room cleaner than when they started, which was a nice plus.

They were very professional, clean and very thorough. I was very happy when they arranged to come back to fix the chimney damper and flue before the Christmas holiday. I would highly recommend their services.

Finally received a follow up phone call after a month of waiting for a quote to still not receive a quote a week later. She was very apologetic for the delay, but I'm still waiting.

Everything went great. They checked my chimney and advised us of repairs that will probably need to be done in the next couple of years.

We hired this company to inspect and clean two chimneys. The service man was actually the company's owner. He inspected both chimneys and their fireplaces and found that they didn't need cleaning, although he did find that both chase covers were collecting water and rusting through. He gave us an estimate for replacing those. Since he didn't perform any cleaning, he offered to refund the prepaid cleaning fee, or to apply it toward the new chase covers. We haven't decided yet, but will probably select the latter option.

Had an initial scheduling problem, but Master got a new scheduler and it all worked out. They brought ladders and got the work done without having to come through the house. (on an A frame) Very prompt, clean and friendly folks.

The serviceman did a wonderful job. He even pulled out my fireplace insert and did not charge for it. (Normally there is an extra charge for that.) He made sure not to get dirt on the floor or rugs and cleaned up the hearth. I asked for several estimates and he quickly complied.

The gentlemen arrived, did an inspection, confirmed my expectations with their report, proceeded to do the cleaning (very neatly done) and installed the chimney cap. They were professional, calm and straight forward and I felt they knew their jobs and how to execute their tasks well and quickly. I should have been more attentive to the clock, so as to report on the time, but it was much faster then I expected. I expect to use them again for different services in spring.
