Master Sweep

We didnt use the deal due to recent reviews submitted on this provider as well as a personal awful experience prior to work even being done.

Purchased coupon for chimney and wood stove cleaning. Receptionist was unprofessional and disorganized. Told me she would call day before with time. She did not call so I called and was given a window between 2-4. Got a call at 11:45 that Jason was there. No one was home. Talked to Jason and was told I would get a call from receptionist first thing in am to re-schedule.He was great! Never heard from her so called again. She was just as unprofessional and disorganized on the phone so decided to get a refund and go elsewhere

It went very good. They even did some additional work for me that wasnt required. Jason and Roberto did a very good job.

No one from the company ever returned my calls or email. It seems that they were not interested in my business. I won't be trying again in the future.

They never showed up for the appointment and they never contacted us. I am cancelling the service.

That service turned out fine. There were two employees who came out and there was a follow up for some weathering and condition to my chimney.

They tried to charge more for more work, but it was not necessary. There were no issues scheduling with them. It was average.

It went very well. There was no problem with them showing up on time. They were reasonable and nice. They were prompt and did what they said they would do. They were a reliable provider. They were fantastic.

Jason was very professional, punctual, easy to communicate with, efficient, and gave me a very fair price (got 2 other chimney estimates to compare to). He even showed me the materials he was going to use and explained how everything would fit together so that I had a visual to better understand why his work was quality work. I highly recommend him and would use his services in the future.

We just moved into an older house, and called to get a routine cleaning. When Jason arrived, he asked me to show him the basement, the attic and the actual fireplace. Then he lit up the chimney, and his words were- "OMG". Not exactly a good sign. There were cracks and holes in the chimney, and since the chimney had never had a cap in 80 years, the rain had caused lots of damage too. Our fireplace was completely unsafe to use. He gave us an estimate, and squeezed us in THE SAME WEEK. Yes, it was expensive, but it was a lot to be done. We even went out for brunch, and he left the place spotless (aside from the work performed). No traces of ash anywhere. All in all, he's also a super friendly guy, who really knows how to explain what he is doing to people who are not experts on chimneys (us!).

The owner came out and did the work and everything went fine. This was an Angies list special and some time had elapsed between the time I prepaid and made the actual appt. I was actually called and told that they saw where I had prepaid and wanted to make sure I had received the service. At that time an appt. was made and unfortunately it was a no call/no show. I called a few days later and was told that there was no indication that an appt. had been made. The owner made an appt. for a Saturday and everything was taken care of.

We had no problems. He recommended that have a vent/cover installed. We had Master Sweep come back and take care of this for us after the holidays.

He was punctual, professional and efficient. Would recommend him!

I had Jason come out and do a Big Deal chimney cleaning and inspection several years ago and kept his number because he was really personable and professional. He told me that some bad work had been done on my chimney masonry above the roof line, which I already know from my home inspection (it was plain to see that it didn't look great, but it was also not going to hold up indefinitely structurally). He told me some of the options I had and quoted the individual options. When I was ready to have the work done I got one more quote from another company and it was way higher - so I was twice as happy to go back to Jason. Communication was great, he came out exactly when he said he would and got the job done for a really decent price. I couldn't ask for more.

He was very nice and polite. He checked two of our houses and did services on one of them. He did a good job with the work he completed.

They cleaned the chimney and checked the other chimney that isn't currently connected and the gas chimney as well. They found that they both need new tops and are coming back out to replace the chimney tops. Master Sweep is a very nice company to work with and always have been when I have used them.

Master Sweep arrived on time and cleaned and inspected my chimney. Two years prior I had hired another company to do some tuckpointing and install rain caps and spark screens. Master Sweep noted that the work had been done incorrectly. The sweep also noted that my chimney needed parging and recommended ChamberTech 2000. He left my house clean when he finished - no soot everywhere - and provided a detailed cost estimate to fix the incorrect repairs and parge the chimney. The cost was reasonable, but I went back to the original company and asked them to redo their work, which they did. I do plan to contact Master Sweep in the future for chimney parging. We've had other home repair priorities, but I had a positive experience with this company and would use them again.

Jason is terrific! He's a mellow guy, zero pressure, very informative. We were impressed with his demeanor and enjoyed working with him & his helper, Roberto. Jason was asked to examine our chimney awhile back for a cap installation & advised us what else the chimney top needed to best improve & maintain integrity. We already had photos of the chimney top - which normally we'd never see - taken by workers who'd been up there. Jason's assessment was honest (he didn't know we had the photos) and accurate. We booked the appointment. Jason & Roberto worked at 3 & 1/2 story height, carrying up cement for the topper. They had to construct a 4-pc wood frame around a large chimney top at considerable height. After the cement set & the wood containing frame was removed with nothing falling down. They were very cautious. We appreciated Jasons "no big deal" approach to removing old bee hive combs from 1 long-unused flue. Other co's had made much of it and quoted high costs. One company in particular had stated a $600 fee to put up a huge ladder (despite easier roof access) & merely dust the bee hive - which would have accomplished NOTHING for a deserted hive with no bees to kill - and didn't address the cleaning of the flue. Jason & Roberto appeared to handle the cleaning in short order & at a reasonable fee (for the flue clearing part of the job). The metal cap was installed and looks nice. The last aspect was a basic cleaning of a WOOD BURNING STOVE on other side of house. This may be my favorite. The NICE part of that job is this: Jason was able to remove an internal baffle and utilize a cleaning (wisk broom) called a VIPER to clean the flue WITHOUT taking apart the stovepipe. The entire area remained clean too. In the past, other companies had disassembled the (white painted) stovepipe between floor & ceiling in order to clean. Getting it put back together always resulted in sooty handprints on the paint. Their cleaners would leave smells & shiny marks on the paint. Twice I had to -afterwards- drape elaborate plastic sheeting around the wood stove to protect the room & spray the specialty high-heat paint to repair the stovepipe finish (& that paint stinks badly). Jason cleaned our wood stove flue WITHOUT creating any of these problems.. We liked working with Jason. In the future, we won't hesitate to ask him back for our fireplace & wood stove needs. He is very pleasant to work with. Knowledgeable, informative, has integrity, and does an excellent job. He's also got patience and humor for curious homeowners who want to watch the process & ask questions.

The low score for responsiveness is because he did not contact us for several weeks after we had purchased the service through Angie's List. The normal window should be about two working days. He attributed the delay to turnover in his office. Jason seems to be knowledgeable and professional. He gave us a thorough assessment and made recommendations for converting one or both of our fireplaces to gas, and advised us regarding safe use of our fireplaces, given the problem of some deteriorated mortar within the chimneys in inaccessible locations.

He did a great job but when I went to use him again he seemed to have disappeared. I think they might have gone out of business.
