Custom Carpet Care

Jim, who I believe is the owner of the company, picked up the carpet on Friday October 2nd. He asked me if there were any special areas of concern on the carpet, and I told him there was some black tape residue in one spot. He said that it would come out easily, 100 percent, no problem. I asked him if they used a water-based cleaning system, and he said yes, they did. He said he would have the carpet back to me on Wednesday, October 7th. I heard NOTHING from the company through the date the carpet was scheduled to be returned to me. On Friday, October 9th, I finally called the company, and spoke with another employee. I did not catch his name, but I believe he is JIm's partner in the company. He said that Jim was out of town, and that he couldn't get me the carpet that day, but could get it to me on Monday(October 12th). Monday came and went and I didn't hear a word from the company. I called them on Wednesday, October 14th, and JIm answered the phone. I Identified myself and asked Jim how things were going. He said, and I quote, "I got good money for a few carpets this past week." I said, "You sold it?" and he said, "the gray one, yeah." Then, after a loooong silence, he proceeded to tell me that I was way too serious, and that he was kidding. So I advised him that the carpet was a week late, and asked him where my carpet was. Then he proceeded to tell me that the carpet didn't get clean the first time, it still had a few "spots" on it, and that it was just about ready to come out of the machine for the second time. So he shows up at my home later in the day on Wednesday, October 14th, with my carpet. The area with the black tape is WORSE than when he left with my carpet. Whatever method they tried to clean the carpet with merely ground the tape further into the carpet, and spread the stain from the black tape. And the rest of the carpet is not clean, It appears that they used dirty water in their machine or something. I was so extremely ticked off at this point that I just wanted him out of my home. I gave him is check and told him to "just leave." I am fully aware that I should not have paid the agreed price and should have asked for a deep discount, but I found this man to be so inept that I chose not to waste my breath or any more of my time on him.
