They were easy to schedule a time for an estimate. Brian was prompt and quickly assessed the problem as being a leak in a pipe going into my hot water heater. They were able to come back the next week and do the repair work. They were on time, fixed the problem quickly at a reasonable fee.
Description of Work: I had a small leak in a pipe going into my hot water heater. They repaired the leak in the pipe and repaired the damage to the ceiling in my furnace room.

Someone came out to do the job and they were pleasant. They did the job and urged me to go forward faster than I had intended to fit his schedule which I did. I would give them good grades on the quality of the work but there were communication problems. They stained all of the beams that we had sanded down without telling me. They had to sand it all off again because you couldn't even see the grain of the wood, they weren't even supposed to stain them in the first place. They corrected that, but everything I wanted done after that was high priced. They told me that flooring purchased on the INTERNET wouldn?t be covered by warranty. This is untrue if purchased from an authorized dealer. They also told me that the doors threshold was required between the bedroom and rec area to maintain the warranty. This is also untrue the span wasn?t even close to requiring it. They put an extremely thin coat of stain on the door and bar, not sanding and filling nail holes etc. The finished product looks good but will require additional sanding and sealing of woodwork in order to maintain its look.
Description of Work: They remodeled our daylight basement.

David was delightful and knowledgeable about the work. Pleasant and tidy. I had anticipated a bill for $350.00 and was astounded that it was only $178.60 that included a fuel surcharge and a 25% charge for his time in going down and getting the things needed for the job.
Description of Work: I had a heavy shade installed over a living room bay window, reattach a strip that was falling down, put up a heavy rod for foam backed drapes, replace a fan, and replace an electrical plug. David Kelley had to go to the local home improvement store and bought the insides of a fan and a plug and cover.

I checked the list and found IYH on Angie's List. IYH has excellent ratings and were fairly close to my home so I sent an email to them. Within hours I had a detailed email waiting for me in my inbox! Mr. Dickenson outlined cost and the timeline to perform the ceramic tile job. I was thrilled to hear so quickly from IYH and to get a fair price quote. I will definitely contact them again if I have work in my home that they are capable of doing.
Description of Work: Although services were not performed, David Dickenson responded to my request via email for an estimate and timeframe for service delivery. His written email estimate was fair and had the person I had lined up (that went "Missing in Action") not unexpectedly resurfaced I would have gone with IYH.

All the work was done by one particular person named Dave. He is just outstanding. As a matter of fact he is coming back today. He is very knowledgeable. He says there is always a way to solve a problem. His work is excellent. He is on time and reasonable. I would recommend him and use him again.

Things went extremely well. We started this project before painting season was in full swing. They replaced the boards and then over a period of a month as weather permitted painted everything. The painter had to come a number of times to paint on good days. Through the whole process they kept us informed, scheduled their work, showed up on time, cleaned up after each session. The young man doing the painting was super clean and polite. This project took some trust as it extended for so long. But in the end we had a beautiful deck in time for Memorial weekend. We are very pleased.
Description of Work: We were attempting to extend the life of our aging deck (three stories above the ground). They replaced all of the splitting boards with similar grade cedar. Scraped away all of the loosened paint, primer all of the bare wood, and painted the entire deck and railings.

He got things done more quickly than he thought he would. The bid he gave me actually turned out to be less than he charged me. There were a few things we added along the way and he was very willing to change "the plan" around. He came the day after he bid on the project and everything turned out great. The receptionist was also great and followed up with me after the work was finished so I really appreciated that. They also gave me alternatives to save me some money and we thought that was great.
Description of Work: They did some minor electrical work including a few outlets and installed some lights. He also did some grounding work and fixed a few things that I had done previously. He also replaced the handle on our old heavy metal back screen door and did some reconfiguring on the frame of it.

Great. David was prompt, he beat me here. He set up his ladder & fixed the fixture. The replacement floodlight I had bought was too big, but he substituted another bulb from another part of the house and used the bulb I'd purchased in that fixture. He had extra time to do a couple of other things and was honest about that: "You have a half hour of my time." He helped repair a closet and re-nailed some fence boards for me.
Description of Work: Fixed a broken light fixture and changed the floodlight over the stairs. It's about 12 feet up.

What impressed me was that they said they would not bill me until the work was complete. They said they specialize in repairs and upgrades for senior citizens. And they offered a free walk-through inspection of the entire house and give you recommendations on anything that needed upgraded or repaired.
Description of Work: Initially I contacted them and I didn't hire them. I hired someone else. That didn't work out, so I went back to In Your Home and explained the situation. They said they were interested in finishing the job that the first company botched. They came out to look at the bathroom and took pictures. They said they would get back with me with a bid, but never did. I followed up with phone calls and at least 5 emails and I they promised me they would get back with me, but never did.

Response from IN YOUR HOME
I SPOKE WITH THE MEMBER. COINCIDENTLY I HAD JUST MET WITH THE MEMBER THIS WEEK TO DISCUSS AN ADDITIONAL SCOPE OF WORK AND SHE HAS SAID SHE WILL CORRECT THE "WOULD NOT HIRE AGAIN" NOTE ABOVE. THAT ASIDE, THIS WAS FRANKLY NOT HANDLED AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. WE WERE INITIALLY RESPONSIVE AND PROVIDED A FULL PROPOSAL FOR THE FULL SCOPE OF WORK. AS THE MEMBER STATES, SHE INITIALLY SELECTED SOMEONE ELSE WHO BEGAN THE PROJECT AND THEN SHE RECONTACTED US. WE WENT BACK OUT AND TOOK A LOOK, AND EVEN SENT ONE OF OUR TEAM OUT TO FIX AN URGENT NEED WITH THE TOILET. HOWEVER, WE NEVER RESPONDED AS WE SHOULD HAVE. HONESTLY, WE HAD A CONCERN ABOUT TAKING ON RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK THAT WAS DONE BY THE OTHER CONTRACTOR, BUT WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT THE CUSTOMER HANGING. THE MEMBER TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS TRYING TO FILL OUT FORM ONLY LOOKING AT THE EXPERIENCE AFTER THE RECONTACT. I HAVE ASKED THE MEMBER TO THINK ABOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS AS SHE MAKES HER GRADES, AND HAVE PROMISED TO GET HER INFORMATION FROM OUR MEETING THIS WEEK EARLY NEXT WEEK.

The job took longer than expected and the removal in the tiles resulted in chipping two of the other tiles. I gave the company an average rating. HOWEVER, the owner feels passionately about his company's performance and we worked out an agreement that he would send another guy to remove and replace the two chipped tiles. It's so rare to find a company that cares that I didn't even bother to call them before I graded them. This company really does care, the guy came out and fixed it as promised. I removed my previous report on Angie's List and I am giving these guys an A.

They returned our call and came to do an estimate quickly - when it was hard to get a response from most contractors we called (even from Angie's List). We needed to change the scope of work a couple of times and they were accommodating each time. They provided a very detailed estimated for our insurance company. Their staff was quick, efficient and friendly. It was a very good experience overall - especially for a contractor.
Description of Work: We discovered a terrible leak in our bathroom(s). Our upstairs bathroom is above our downstairs bathroom. It turned out that we needed to tear out walls both upstairs and down, replace floors upstairs and down, replace plumbing, replace a toilet, reset a toilet, replace a tub, re-tile a shower, demo everything, rewiring, and more. They did most of it. We did a little - like the rewiring and some of the demo.

They cleaned up wonderfully and didn't leave a mess. I also purchased fixtures and a garbage disposal and they installed those. They were punctual and polite. They were also within $5.00 of estimate. They were helpful in every way.
Description of Work: They regrouted two bathrooms, replaced tile, extended the tile in the bathroom to the kitchen, installed down stairs exhaust fan in bathroom, and replaced two tiles that were cracked. In my rental they redid a bathroom; new plumbing, exhaust fan, shower stall, and new floor. They also replaced carpet in the upstairs and downstairs bedroom and closet in the rental. They painted in living room saving me lots of money by painting one coat of durable paint and telling me that the ceiling didn't need painting. They also replaced downstairs carpet I was going to try to save, but they installed it at cost.

In a nutshell; worry free & no stress! Other remodeling jobs, whether done by ourselves or contractors, always tested our patience. In Your Home provided a completely different experience. We found out about them when, my elderly parents needed to retrofit their bathroom and hallway due to mobility issues. Luckily we had received a flier from In Your Home, highlighting their work for seniors to enable them to stay and be safe in their home. We had such a great experience with them at my parent's house that when we decided to have a shop built in the back yard of our house, we called them. No need for competitive bids; we wanted someone we trusted to due the job right and we already knew who we wanted. We wanted peace of mind with this project. The shop is almost done and we can't wait to toast it with a good bottle of bubbly.
Description of Work: Site inspection for estimate; drawing up of plans (almost intuitive; they knew just what we wanted) and submitting them to our home owners association, getting all permits for our new shop in our back yard; along with a lot of concrete work to replace an existing path from the front of the house to the new shop. Coordinated all subcontractors and kept everything on schedule with an on-site job manager. Never a hesitation when I would change or "enhance" plans mid stream. Not being an engineer, I can't plan everything ahead; some things need to take shape as they go. All the folks, from the owner to Tera in the office, Michael on the job site and subcontractors were so approachable and an easy to deal with. I looked forward to coming home each night to see the progress; with no fear of something gone wrong.

It went very well. When I called to see about getting scheduled I was very lucky to get put on the book within a couple of weeks. From there, the job went very smoothly. They were always on time and I was never in the dark. However, I would advise one thing: Let In Your Home get all pertinent contractors for your job. We went outside of them for the flooring and that added time and confusion unnecessarily. The floors came out real nice and nothing against EcoFloors, but the communication lines became a little confused and any time issues were beyond In Your Home's control. That was the only thing that was frustrating. Mike, the project manager, was great, and his team, especially Bryan, were highly skilled and polite and can do specialists. I would absolutely highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They demoed floor and one cabinet and drywalled new space for refrigerator and overhang for large microwave and exhaust hood. They installed new gas hookup and exhaust vent from microwave/hood to outside of house. They tore up carpeting and prepped staircase to basement for new bamboo flooring which was installed by EcoFloors (as was cork floor in kitchen.) They sealed crack near foundation that was causing minor leak onto basement stairs. They rearranged downspouts from side of house to prevent further damage to foundation. They oversaw the entire process and conferred with me at each juncture and asked me for any decisions that needed to be made before completing task. They also installed all new appliances we bought through Standard TV and appliance (microwave/hood, gas stove and range, hooked gas line up. When there was a problem with the oven, Ryan (an electrician) came over on a Saturday and got it working after a bit of rewiring in a short amount of time.

After reaching out to three handymen referred by friends. I checked in with Angie's List. And after my first was able to come out on 12/27 to provide an estimate. We were able to get the work scheduled for the first week of January. Josh and team arrived when they said they would and started work immediately. The finished job was fantastic. Our kitchen looks new again. The front banister and landing is lovely... All of the work was top notch. I will use In Your Home for all of my handyman work from now on. They are professional, timely and even appreciated my 116 lb newfoundland puppy!!!
Description of Work: We are getting our home ready for sale and had a variety of little bits and pieces to fix such as: Kitchen cabinets and counters -- repainted and regrouted; Bathroom counters -- regrouted; Ceiling repaired; Lighting fixtures repaired; Two window/door faces repaired Front banister repair and painted; Back landing painted

Amazing! Brian Bartholomew came out right away for an estimate on repairs needed to get our home ready for sale - gave us a very detailed estimate. Worked with us to get all items completed on a tight schedule. Everyone we worked with was pleasant and helpful - they really hire the best. Went out of their way to save us money - even calling mid way through the job to discuss an alternative repair that would reduce our over-all cost. They completed all work on time and BELOW the estimate by 600.00. I can't say enough good things about this company - they truly are a "one call does it all" company that you can trust.
Description of Work: Replaced door molding, installed weather stripping, Replaced shower valve, re-grouted shower, repaired fan, replaced can lights in 18 foot ceiling, repaired drywall cracks and paint. Sanded and stained window sills, upgraded light switches, power-washed deck, installed lattice on deck, Installed toe kicks and repaired stairs, and re-painted.

Extremely happy. This is our second remodeling project this year, and we know it is very important to find a contractor that you can trust. My wife and I felt very comfortable after the first meeting with Dave, one of the owners. Their estimate was very similar to other estimates that we got from other contractors (in term of $$$). One thing that make them stand out was their estimate had a lot of information and details, it listed all the items/works that they would do. There was no gray area. We knew exactly what we would get at the end of the project. Most of the people who worked at our home are their employees. Very nice people and very professional. One of the biggest changes of the projects was we wanted to move a section of our cabinets to fit a bigger range after the heated tile floor was done. We couldn't believe they were so willing to do it for us. We really enjoy the work that they had done for us.
Description of Work: The overall scope of the project is to update the kitchen, nook, powder room, and bathrooms with new finishes and fixtures. Install new heater tile floor for all areas. Powder room and bathrooms: new sinks, new tile for counter top and tub, new heated tile floor, plus minor wood works. Kitchen: new granite counter top and island, new full granite backsplash, new microwave/warmer/TV cabinet, extend the island, move a section of the existing cabinet to fit a bigger range, new heater tile floor, new wainscoting for the entire kitchen, new trim for windows, and install new appliances, sinks, facets, and hot/cool water filter system. Misc: paint interior walls ( 80% of the house), minor carpet work, minor drywall work.

From the moment we met with the owner, Brian Bartholomew, we knew we had our company. Before he even gave us an estimate his overall demeanor was professional and calming. We had been told by numerous other contractors that we should sue the homebuilder and that this would cost us possibly as much as $100,000 to repair. We were very frightened to say the least. After talking to Brian who was very calm and never mentioned a lawsuit nor tried to find blame he just reassured us that he could do the job and we would be very happy with his work.
Description of Work: Extensive dry rot on the front of a 3 story home including in the support beams and around all of the windows. They took all the siding & windows out, removed all dry rot and basically rebuilt the front of our 11 year old Renaissance Home the way it should have been done initially.
