What a relief to have all of these things done and done so well. I had bought quite a few items that were needed, but the some of the repair items and the wood for the fence were included in the price. The repairman noticed some other things around the house that are those borderline annoying things that you don't even notice after awhile--sagging entry door, gates that wouldn't close properly and now they are fixed. Also, he noticed an electrical problem in the garage (potentially dangerous) that needed only a simple fix.
Description of Work: I needed a lot of little annoying (to me) repairs done: electrical outlet for microwave, light fixture installed, repair of wire fence, repairs to wooden fence, roof leak assessed, fence built for patio area, thermostat installed, new lock and handles installed for front door and several smoke detectors installed.

They were very good. They are great because I am a senior citizen and they do a lot of work for the older population. Lake Oswego in the Portland area has a very affluent population and a lot of the people like to call people they can trust into their home. I don't live in that area. I got this company through Angie's List and there were such glowing reports of these wonderful people. I am not handy and I needed a lot of little things done. The young man was very nice. They were not cheap, but I thought they were good. They were here for a number of hours and part of that was when he went to get the stuff that I hadn't got. They charged a fee to get the stuff on top of their time and that was about 10 percent of the cost.
Description of Work: I had purchased shelves and a young man from In Your Home put them together in my garage. He went out and got more shelves and put them up as well. He built me a shelf in addition to that in another area of my garage and he did a few other things in the house.

We are very sorry for the member's inconvenience. We have checked our records and find that we did have an appointment scheduled for the afternoon of March 29 to look at a possible bathtub and tile replacement. What appears to have happened is that in the morning of the 29th we received a message from another potential customer canceling their appointment and we mistakenly canceled this member's appointment. Completely our accountability. Since being alerted of this report we have called and spoken to the member and apologized directly. We wish the member would have called us when we were late for the appointment we would have made every effort to get there or reschedule to accommodate their schedule. This review is the first that we have heard of the problem. Unfortunately, while it rarely happens with our company, sometimes scheduling mistakes are made and if we are not notified we cannot rectify them. We also find it disappointing that the member has selected many more categories for this report than the ones that would apply to the request we received.

Dave arrive on time, took the measure of the work that needed to be done, and went and bought the supplies. He added the pull-down ladder the first day. The second day he returned with a helper and finished the job. They did a very nice job and even added additional lights and a switch to automatically turn them on when the attic door is opened. The work came to about $500 more than originaly estimated but the job was worth it.
Description of Work: Added a pull-down ladder to the attic and laid down plywood for storage space.

Thanks for the nice report. We do our best to estimate accurately, in this case there were a number of obstructions (wiring, etc) hidden beneath the blown in insulation that once we discovered, we actually had to build a frame to raise the decking. Combined with a few other complications the job just required more time and more materials than originally estimated. We very glad you feel the work was worth it and hope that you feel we effectively communicated these issues to you, but we know it is always frustrating when things turn out to be more expensive than anticipated. Thanks again.

He was excellent and I loved him. I'm using David Kelly there as my handyman and he's incredible. I have used them four to five times so far. It took them no time to get back to me when I called. The quotes came in exactly with the same price they said it would be. David is one of the fastest handymen I have used in life and there is no downtime whatsoever.
Description of Work: David Kelly from In Your Home took a quick look at my chimney and made sure that everything was working properly, made sure there was no blockage before the cold season set in. He did a lot of assembling work and he chopped up some wood for me too. He did a lot of small work for me.

They were fabulous, and unbelievably good. They promote themselves as remodelers and particularly sensitive to mature customers. They came in and asked what we were looking for. They gave us quotes and a time line. They worked with us through the whole project. The people that they had were wonderful. They cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional. They saved us a bunch of money. They came in under the price they actually told me. They did a lot. We were getting our house ready to sell. Their prices came in very reasonable. They were veru professional. We are having another remodel done, and we didn't even thing to go with them. Now we wish we would have; we are kind of sorry. I was so thrilled with everything that they did.
Description of Work: We used In Your Home to do a lot of miscellaneous repairs before we sold our house. They fixed the stairs, did some painting, re-grouted a shower, repaired some light switches, patched and painted, and changed the lights in our 18 ft. ceilings. They got the house looking good for a sale.

I just bought my home and needed work done prior to going back to California to make my move here with my furniture and dog. Brian was very accommodating with the pricing and worked with my budget. He was able to get started right away and brought in his guys to get the tasks completed by the time I returned from picking up my things in CA. Jason and the crew did a great job. Came back 2 days to touch up. Crew were always on time, friendly, and professional. I would definitely call them again for any work on my home!

This project went superbly well. It greatly exceeded our expectations. The project manager David Kelley is a superlative craftsman. He helped us select colors and in general included us in the decision-making at all stages of the work. He made brilliant suggestions to upgrade the area at minimal cost so that the project is very cost-effective. The work area was kept very clean and orderly throughout the project and cleaned up meticulously. All of the crew have strong work ethics and were a pleasure to meet and work with at each point in the project's process. I give them my highest possible recommendation.
Description of Work: In Your Home completely reworked the lower level of our home: approximately 1200+ square feet that features a large family room, bathroom, bonus room, laundry room, and small porch. They cleaned up everything so that the level is spotless. They painted all the walls a clear white, applied a deep burgundy epoxy cement paint to all the floors, installed and painted all the baseboards a sharp black, painted the furnace door, trimmed a storage area in the laundry room, completed the laundry room ceiling, repaired laundry room walls, installed light fixtures, and touched up the ceilings throughout the space. They also added trim to the stucco column in the small porch and refreshed that area.

The company came as one of several bidders, negotiated small changes, and workmen appeared on time and date prearranged. The work went fairly fast, once the tiles had arrived. It took two work days from start to finish plus one morning for cleanup of equipment and back courtyard. Billing came a week later.
Description of Work: Removed bathroom vinyl floor and underlayment. Refaced drawers and cupboard doors. Installed new underlayment and tile flooring in bathroom. Obtained desired tiles for project. Refaced cabinetry with laminate and resized drawers and fitted door with euro-hinges, and installed. Removed old toilet and installed a new one. Found and repaired the source of a small leak. Installed a new baseboard. Placed all equipment in the back courtyard to minimize traipsing thru the house. Cleaned up after installation, and left unused tile.

His name is Brian. He works with seniors with disabilities. He had good ideas and I was pleased with his suggestions. This experience was good but I had him give me a bid for windows later. We were tired of dealing with the window company and I thought I might be able to get them cheaper. I found out later that if he put the windows in, then the warranty would be voided and based on that, we had to cancel. We wanted him to do something else and he wouldn't call us back. Finally we talked to him and he was snippy and said that he didn't have time to deal with people that didn't use his services. It is too bad because we have other work that we would like done. It is kind of disappointing and I will not use his services in the future.

First, we want to thank the member for giving us a high rating for the work we did even though he felt we did not handle his follow-up inquiries well. And we want to apologize if at any time we seemed "snippy." Our records showed that we rebid and re-proposed on the window job multiple times. We ask all members to be aware that providing estimates and proposals takes time and, as the old adage goes, time is money. We strive to run a company that is price competitive. At the end of the day sometimes we have to say "enough." When the member came back with more things they were interested in getting a bid on, we offered to do the work on a time and materials basis as we did not feel that the scope of the work would support a bid process. This is our standard approach for smaller projects, and especially for repeat customers who know our service quality. But this message should have been conveyed without any 'snippy"ness--Brian does not recall that he was but again we apologize if the member perceived us this way. And again, thanks for being fair and giving us a positive rating despite this experience.

It turned out to be a bigger job than he expected but he got the work done. Once he completed the work, he said that he some more time left and asked if I want him to do anything else. So he also fixed a door knob for me. The quality of his work was good and I was satisfied with his service.

I called the office and explained what I wanted done and inquired about their pricing schedule. All of my questions were answered and I was given an estimate over the phone. The cost per hour was very reasonable and, as a first time customer, I received a $40.00 discount for 3 hours or more of service. All in all it took 4.75 hours to do everything I wanted done. The work done was handled quickly and professionally. It turned out that the Nordic Track required two people to assemble it as it was crated and weighed nearly 400 lbs. The young man who was working that day explained that it was not a problem and he called another employee who came to the house to help with the assembly. They even took away the wooden crate that it had been shipped in! It is not easy to find a company that can offer the wide array of services that In Your Home provides. I will certainly contact them again if I need any other in home services.

The owner, Brian, came to the house and I discussed and showed him exactly what I wanted done and he showed me samples of materials and explained each one to me of what they would look like, approximately how long they would last, and the warranties and the approximate time wise the job would take. The staff of Paul and Brian were always on time, took pride in their workmanship, were friendly, courteous. The project manager, Jason, was a very much on-hands person and kept me up-to-date on the work in progress, and was very professional. Brian, the owner, came once during the process, and a walk through at the end.

Brian made measurements, took pictures and explained the procedures they would use. His estimate was half what the other four were. This is mainly because the others insisted they had to replace the whole front door to fix the threshold. One guy said he would have to remove the sliding glass door to fix the floor. I had to wait a couple of weeks to get the estimate, but it was worth the wait. Ben did the floor and David did the rest. It took about 6 hours. All repairs were completed satisfactorily. The final bill was slightly below the estimate.

The project went beautifully. The work was done quickly and professionally. When I suggested the change in front steps and the removal of a railing, both Brian and David moved to incorporate my idea immediately. My Realtor, who will sell our home, loves the front porch and immediately took photos. The photos reveal an entirely new, more relaxed, and welcoming entrance to the home. She has yet to see the two new decks--but they, too, relax the courtyard area greatly. So I know she will love them, too.
Description of Work: Brian and David demolished the front porch deck, steps and railing as well as two other decks. Brian then rebuilt the front porch combining new and still good wood from old porch and added two 12-foot steps so that several people can come up to the front door at one time. He then rebuilt two decks with new and still good wood. He added important wood framing details on all three projects that had not been there before.

Brian was quick to come out and give us a bid. While In Your Home wasn't the cheapest of the 4 bids we solicited, they were the only ones that would do "everything," and we certainly felt like they would be the best for the entire project. I'm absolutely sure we were right. Jason was our project manager and he was extremely easy to work and communicate with. Everyone one the crew was punctual and professional. They clearly have different folks who specialize in their nitch, but all pitch in to complete the project. Josh and Brian seem to be the glue that drove the project along, working on Doors, Trim, Hardware, and everything in between. Dakota was our painter and methodically worked through the house to make sure everything looked perfect. Paul was an absolute artist when it came to drywall and matching the new texturing to existing (Both on the wall and the ceiling). There were a few others that came and went when the extra hands were needed. Overall, everyone was very professional and easy to talk to when I wanted to change or add something. From the bid we only changed a few small things as the project progressed, and there were a couple of small unknowns that popped up. They were quick to identify anything that would adjust the original pricing and very up front with how much time and expense it would add. My only gripe was the vendor they used to supply the doors was not very quick to respond to mistakes. A few of the doors took longer than expected to arrive and a few had to be changed/modified onsite. Jason said they wouldn't be using that vendor any longer. We will certainly use them again when we decide to tackle the next project.

The job progressed well and the work was done in just over three weeks. Anyone that has done a bathroom or kitchen remodel knows that this is very fast. They also know that the cost of this job was reasonable. The person doing most of the work was very pleasant to work. The end result was great. The tile work and paint quality was first rate. The modern plumbing fixtures and glass vessel sink brought a contemporary look. Opening up the shower transformed the shower from a dark hole to a light a airy delight.
Description of Work: Remodeled/updated master bathroom. Work included tile work on shower stall, floor and back splash. Cost effective solution that utilized existing cabinet. New sink, plumbing fixtures, mirror and repair of structural water damage under shower. Only minor electrical and plumbing alterations were required as part of the strategy to keep costs under control. The shower door and wall were removed to open up the shower.

I can't praise In Your Home sufficiently for the outstanding work that David Kelley has been doing in tackling all kinds of tasks with the house. Both he and Brian Bartholomew have been excellent at offering reasonably priced options within my budget and doing their work without any stress to me or my very ill husband. My mind is at ease for the first time about preparing our home for sale and downsizing in order to meet my husband's growing medical needs. I understand everything that they are doing in the house and work cooperatively with them so that communications are very clear. I am still working with the company on several projects. I really like the way that they complete projects from start to finish rapidly and without stress and fuss. I know many caregiver professionals and caregivers as well as professionals and volunteers who help caregivers. I am recommending In Your Home to everyone because they offer services that are essential to the strong health of anyone over 55 and especially those of us with family members who are ill or who find ourselves not able to be as active or agile as we were earlier in our lives.
Description of Work: In Your Home has completed concrete repair work, foundation repair, bathtub caulking, kitchen drawer repair, lighting repairs, 25 light bulb replacements, garage roof repair, garage wall repair, hanging of an art print, and has begun preparing for the repair and painting of three decks, the painting of the foundation, the replacement of a dormer window and siding, and the painting of the downstairs level with epoxy paint as well as other tasks such as the painting of inside doors.
