The technician was willing to provide service on Saturday to accommodate my schedule, and even cheerfully adjusted the appointment time when I needed to change. He was prompt, clean, friendly and knowledgeable.

Joe is Fantastic! I called him about a mouse problem; he asked detailed questions, then said "You don't need me." He recommended a mouse-proofing contractor instead, then told me what sort of bait to get and how to put it out. "You'll be cutting me out of a few hundred dollars, but you don't really need my services -- and you can use the money you save for mouse-proofing plus energy savings." FANTASTIC! I didn't know there were still honest "old-school" guys like this around. After finding out how honest he is, and after such a great experience, if I had a more serious pest problem (bugs, rats, anything difficult) I would call Joe at Affordable in a heartbeat.

Joe responded promptly and arrived as scheduled. He thought carpenter ants but after thorough examination changed his mind. He explained what he was using and how it would work. He predicted that this treatment (relatively new and much less expensive than previous treatments) could fix the problem and discussed further steps that could be taken if another swarm came out.

Matt was very prompt in returning my phone-call, and was on time for our first appointment. He explained to me his process and continued to explain what he was doin most of the time he was working. ( As a maintenance worker, I appreciate information about building inhabitants) After they sprayed to kill all visible bugs, they applied a powder to prevent any new ones from entering and nesting again. After the service was completed we discussed an annual preventative treatment plan, and his price was so good we decided to have him do it right then. I got estimates from 3-4 exterminators, and Affordable was by far the most--well--affordable. They responded within a day or two, and the man who came out was very knowledgeable and environment-oriented. He had the necessary equipment and got the job done in about 1/2 hr, gave me good explanation and guarantee. Excellent experience.

We had a problem with mice. He told me over the phone how to eliminate the problem myself. If I was not successful he could certainly come out. I did not have to call him back. He actually saved me a house call!

They were great. I had a $25.00 coupon from Angie's List. They responded immediately and came out really timely. It was excellent. They seemed professional and knowledgeable. I would use them again.

We have used this company at our house and rental house. They're fast, professional and fair. For this service, they sprayed for sugar ants. I set up the appointement and Joe was prompt, professional and courteous. We'll use him again.

We decided to take the aluminum siding off our house, only to find the cedar siding was in very poor shape. That of course led to us finding we had a pest problem. I found Affordable Pest Control on Angie's list and called. They called back quickly and were able to come out within two days. They had suggestions and sprayed the perimeter of the house for carpenter ants. Very professional. Would recommend!

I called in the afternoon and he came out the next morning. After I showed him the area where I found the insect he told me what it was, explained how they operate and how to get rid of them. He checked the structure and surrounding area for any signs of damage or additional infestation. Then he sprayed the infested area and all of the other vulnerable areas in the structure.

I called on a Thursday afternoon and scheduled for the following Tuesday. They showed up 15 minutes early and finished in about 15 minutes. Fast, friendly, efficient, and we can now see out our upstairs windows on the south side of the house again!

First of all, they came quickly and gave me a price and went right to work, which was good. He showed me how to set the traps and what to do if we caught anything. We both looked around the kitchen and other places. They did their spraying, and left. Not 5 minutes after they had gone, I was looking in my pantry and noticed that one of the wire containers on the top shelf seemed askew. I thought maybe we had pushed it aside when we were looking around, so I reached up and picked it up to rearrange it. To my utter horror (and I confess, hysteria) a big gray rat jumped off the shelf and scampered through the room. I was literally beside myself with fear and crying. I opened the back door in case it would take a notion to leave and grabbed my cell phone to call the guys. There was no answer, but I left the message that i had found the rat. Matt came back within minutes after the call, and helped me to search the house. We could not find the culprit, but he placed more traps and advised me to leave the doors open for a while so that the rat could escape. I was so calmed and comforted that he returned right away. (Probably knew I was scared to death!) The traps never caught anything, but in days following my husband and I did find dead rats outside. I think the rat must have run out. We spent hours and hours cleaning everything with bleach, and throwing out all kinds of questionable items. We examined a closet where a new furnace was installed last winter and found holes through an outside wall where presumably a rat could squeeze through and filled them with spray insulation. I read on a web site (which also instructed how to clean up after a rodent invasion) that a rat can squeeze through a hole as small as a quarter, and a mouse can squeeze through a hole as small as a dime.I never thought we could possibly have a rat inside the house! Some of the things I have learned since: that rats can enter your home through the toilet if sewer lines are cracked, that they can chew through anything, that they are attracted to water (we no longer have the outdoor pond). This was trully a horrifying (and disgusting!) situation, and I am very grateful for Affordable Pest's help. Believe me, I would not hesitate to call them again, and I hope no one has to experience having a rat in their house.

They contacted me the same day that I emailed them. He asked me to put some of the bugs I found in a jar on the porch and he would drop by and look at them to find out what they were. I received a phone call the next day telling me that I had carpenter ants and we arranged for him to come out the next day and spray the perimiter of the house which was great as I work. He told me that this would stop them as they have to go outside to exist at some point. It worked because a few days later I saw a pile of dead ants outside the room that I had found them in. I would use them again for sure and I trust them completley to do a great job!!

Joe actually came 4 times - always on time, pleasant, and helpful. He came the day after I called about mouse dirt under the kitchen sink. He and his helper checked all possible points of entry, baited under the sink, in the crawl space, and in a hose reel container. He also gave me some advice on how to seal some possible points of entry. He came back in a week or so to check all the bait traps. Since it was rainy, he came back later in June for my annual carpenter ant treatment. In August, a rat chewed its way into my utility room from the crawl space - I found dirt in several rooms and a 2" hole in the wall by the sink outlet. Joe came out the next day, a Saturday, and set traps. We both suspected that it had already left. When we did not catch anything during the next week, Joe picked up his traps and did not charge me for either visit, even though the first one had been on a weekend. Unlike other pest control providers I have used who only gave me a discount on the first service, Joe gives discounts to his regular customers. I appreciate that, and the fact that he never tries to sell me any extra services or products. He just takes care of the problem fast and at a good price.

When our contractor tore out the bathroom for a major remodel, we discovered that we had a HUGE pest problem: spiders, carpenter ants, beetles, mice, and termites! The contractor called Terminix who proceeded to tell us that we needed to tent the house and it would cost $10,000! When my husband told them they were crazy, the price dropped to $8,000 and then to $6,000. We thought that sounded shady, so I checked Angie's List and found Affordable Pest Control and called them late that night. Joe showed up the very next day and took care of all the pests for $450, but we only paid $425 because of our Angie's List discount. Joe showed us how he had actually been out there to spray for termites at this house before with the previous owners, pointing out the holes he had to drill in the house at the time (this method of exterminating termites is no longer necessary though). He caught stuff the home inspector didn't. We're calling them again for regular maintenance. They saved us over $5500!

Dry rot was discovered during a siding replacement and I was told there was evidence of Carpenter Ants. I called Affordable Pest Control that day (Thursday) and talked to Joe Daley. He suggested he come out Saturday morning so the guys working on the siding wouldn't be exposed to the spraying. He arrived on time and looked the situation over. Besides spraying the perimeter of the house, he treated the area of dry rot (2nd floor level), wood steps by house, wood raised bed and a compost pile near the house (he recommended we get rid of the unused compost pile structure since it is a risk to be a home for pests.)

I just talked to him within the last 15 minutes, so haven't had time to go out and buy the product, but thought that other members would appreciate knowing about a service that actually gives advice without charge, and I'm sure he is well aware that if I have pest problems in the future, I would most likely call him, as he has been so helpful. The proof will be in the pudding, however, and I told him that I would call back with results on the sugar ants.

Excellent experience. Apparently my issues were minor, although they may require additional visits. This gentleman and his son were very professional and thorough and gave me pointers on how to deal with the mud dawber and paper wasp nests in the future without needing their services. Reassured me that they don't think I have a termite problem although they did identify that the swarming ants I have occasional problems with are carpenter ants. They did some spraying but I if continue to have problems they will need to come back to do a more thorough treatment.

I called on a Sunday night expecting and answering machine and instead got Joe on the phone. He came out the next day and sprayed the perimeter. We have not seen ants since. He did not try to sell us other services, such as drilling into the house. He and Matt were knowledgable about the products they used, and safety concerns. Matt inspected the house while Joe was spraying and told us what to do for other pest problems.

Fewer than 3 weeks after I moved into my house, I realized I had a rodent issue based on evidence under my kitchen sink where I had been leaving the garbage. I had also seen a number of carpenter ants on my deck so I figured I had a problem with them too (my home inspector advised me I would have to treat for them annually since my home backs to greenspace). I made several calls and set up a couple of appointments (one of which tried to scam me by telling me I needed $2k worth of treatment, clean-up, etc). At that point, I joined Angie's List and found so many positive reviews for Affordable Pest Control that I gave them a call. I've been extremely pleased with the service I've received from Joe. He peformed a perimeter spray for carpenter ants and set up many bait stations for mice. He also gave me a referral to a contractor who could find and patch holes in my crawlspace, etc to stop the mice from getting into my house. Joe is in the process of making repeat visits to make sure both issues are resolved. Affordable Pest Control will continue to earn my business.

Affordable provides excellent service. I had asked for an estimate last fall and Joe came out and looked around. He told me I did not need anything done at the time and gave me some helpful pointers to prevent problems. Joe did not charge us for the visit. He suggested a call in the spring to check again. In early April we took down a large wisteria, well attached to a deck, and found carpenter ants. Joe had told to keep and eye on the wisterial. Joe came right out and quickly eliminated the problem. I will continue to use Affordable for pest control.
