We moved my mom to our property when her health failed. She purchased a module home and we needed the electric hooked up from the barn to her little home. We received a written bid in the amouint of $935.00. The work went well on May 19.2009. Mr Wright was not here on the work day. He sent us a bill in the amount of $1661.00 on June 28,2009. We tried to work with him to reach a compromise. He refused. So we did not pay him the entire bill since he never said that there was any extra charges per his written bid. He took us to small claims court and told the judge that he always gave a written bid but then worked time and materials. He lied about the facts, padded his supply list and kept the 45 feet of wire and conduit that we had paid for. Our small town judge stated he had made up his mind even before we gave our side of the case. He told us to keep it brief. We had prepared a well written presentation pointing out the untruths in what Jim Wright claimed. For example, he claims he was here the day of the work, working in the mud while he dug out the dirt under the barn foundation. Jim Wright was not even here the day of the work. The weather was sunny and the foundation was dug out by the plumber. Again, Mr Jim Wright will give you a written bid but he still works time and material so your bill will be higher than you think you are going to pay. It is my opinion that he will lie, change the details and threaten small claims if you refuse to pay his higher bill. We also got to witness his great anger. In our case he had put an extra invoice in the invoices under stock and not our job number. He pads his bill 25% which is higher than normal and refused our request of payroll reports to verify the hours he claimed worked. He claimed that he picked up the supples when the invoicies for our job were signed for by his son and his helper. He is untrustworthy. The judge told Mr. Wright we didn't have to pay him anymore than the written bid but still sided with Mr. Wright and we ended up paying for almost all of the over bid. After we had lost the case and he was waiting for the additional check to be written. he turned to me smiled and then chuckled. He was a very small man at that moment. This was done in front of the judge, court reporter and the police man. We took his bid since he worked with the module home company instead of the other bids we had received. that was our first mistake in our experience with Wright Electric and more importantly Jim Wright.
Description of Work: We needed an electrical hookup from our barn to my mom's new module home. It was a one day job with no surprises except for the final bill.
