They have done work for me throughout the years. It has all been interior painting so far. I would use them again in future. Their price is average for our area, they might be a little higher than some. It is still fine, for me price was A.
Description of Work: They did interior painting. We had lots of rooms done, extra stuff and ceilings and everything.

From the estimator-who arrived very promptly after 1st contact, to the job being started earlier than 1st thought was delightful. Starting early, and doing such great work (by Joe Van Amburgh) we were able to spend Christmas in our new home.
Description of Work: Joe did wonderful work on a 10x10 bedroom, a 15' hallway and ceiling through a 1248 sq ft home.

This is the Second time we've used Fitzpatrick Painting for our interior painting needs. Both experiences were excellent. They have exceeded expectation each time we hired them. This project was the result of a repair to two of our bedrooms and a bathroom just prior to Christmas. The estimate was very reasonable and they promised to use the paint we supplied as we were matching the rooms overall paint scheme. The date was set and the crew called on painting day to let us know they were on their way. They quickly taped the area as well as put drop clothes through the house on any surface they might walk on to and rom their vehicle. Day one they put doe primer and made some minor drywall repairs. They completed the main bathroom that first day. Day two they call to let us know they were on their way . They arrived and completed the job. They had us inspect their work and gave us instructions prior to departure. They cleaned up the work area and were on their way. The crew was very friendly and seemed to enjoy their work. They respected out time constraints and were very polite and professional. The cost was below the estimate and we were/are completely satisfied. We are planning to hire them again for a couple upcoming projects. We are capable of painting ourselves but the speed of completion and the excellent results make this the better option.
Description of Work: Interior painting due to a major repair of our Master bedroom, second bedroom and main bathroom. This was done matching our existing pattern and using our paints. New drywall and existing drywall was painted.

First of all I am happy to see happy customer reviews because I am giving the benefit of the doubt that my experience was an unusual one. I was given a bid to paint a huge deck and uprights in the fall of 2013 and promised the job to be started in May 2014. Due to bad weather the job was delayed. However, while prepping for the Inca Trail hike in Peru which meant walking all the heck around North Albany, I saw Fitzpatrick at multiple jobs spring through summer and yet they had not gotten to me. I found it curious I was promised May when that is the normal time to begin painting, yet so many jobs were ahead of mine! When they did show up I was told immediately they would have to be off the job in a few days and after the first or second day it would be a skeleton crew because they were way behind. I'd waited all summer and now it was stress, stress, stress, hurry, hurry, hurry ! I picked my stain and it was documented with the office. The crew arrived and someone immediately painted my cement wall and did an excellent job with an excellent attitude, wish he could have stayed for the entire job. My windows were covered in plastic and so the job began on the far side of my deck and I was told not to open the doors for 2 days. Because of this I could not see anything being done. When I was able to open the doors, my deck was stained with a color I had not chosen and by then the crew had reached completely around the deck to the opposite side...to my front door which is stained a tinted golden pecan color and the deck floor that butts up to it was now a disgusting orange burgundy, almost a solid. I was told by Fitzpatrick that their staff (Tom) would not pick another color without my permission but he did, it is documented, there is no way around that. Part of their contract is keeping the owner informed and no one informed me until after the deed was done, that the most important decision for the entire job was made on my behalf without my permission. I appreciate the concern but this is my choice, I was the one paying for it, I certainly would have chosen a different color if only told the stain I had chosen was not right for the job. To add insult to injury, the two deck double doors were sanded by what I am told by other painters, by a sander and not by hand. This caused deep grooves around the door knobs and locks in 4 directions! Who does this? So I was visited by the owner and manager when I complained and they offered to paint the two sets of double doors at their cost that were now scarred which they should anyway! The stain done on those doors by the crew was so bad, it was 15 shades between light and dark, yet no one stopped to inform me how badly the wood was taking the stain to give me the option to make appropriate changes before they continued on to the second set of double doors that undoubtedly took them a tremendous amount of time. It makes no sense! The door knobs/locks were left with scuff marks on them from the sander and Tom promised they would be replaced but they never were. Even though Fitzpatrick was now re-painting the 2 sets of double doors for me for free, a financial burden of repainting the rest of all my outside doors was placed on me so everything matched from the street. As well, because the difference from the front door and the now mismatched deck stain, Fitzpatrick (upon my request) sent a person to strip and paint my top step up to the deck so the walk up would not be so obviously off. I wrote a review to Angie's List shortly after the job was done. I received a voicemail from Tim Fitzpatrick and he told me my review made him sick to his stomach, this would hurt his business, and he would even pay me back for the job they did if I would remove the review. I did remove the review but I didn't call them and I also did not receive a refund, not that honestly I was expecting one. I still have the voicemail and I could add it if I could. Tim felt bad about the entire experience and tried to make it right, but what about me the customer? My deck makes me sick to my stomach too, every time I see it! Tim personally gave me a great bid to paint the entire house for the summer of 2015 and asked for a second chance to make things right, but my husband and I weren't in a position to paint this summer. This month November 2015 we had their staff member Jesse come out to give us a bid for the house and the deck. I told him of some of the troubles I had with the crew with the deck but I didn't drive it home so to speak. So when I received my bid and found it to be so very high, my husband suggested we call Tim to see if he could do better for us. Tim looked at the bid and said it was already an aggressive bid because the bidder (Jesse) had taken into consideration what I had told him but quite honestly, I didn't tell Jesse every last detail nor did Jesse present the bid telling me he was giving me an aggressive bid due to previous problems. Tim's only help on the bid was to remove the cost of painting the cement retaining wall which was $515.00. What Tim doesn't know is that Jesse openly told me, the customer, that Tony, the gentleman who bid my deck and cement wall job for 2014 was let go because he low balled too many bids and that is why the bid seemed so high now, and that is why they had to let him go. True or not, you two work it out, you don't share your dirty laundry with customers. That has left me wondering if that is why my job was put off so late in the season and so shoddily done, because they weren't making any money on my job? If I can get back into the review with photos if I can still find them, I will add them later.
Description of Work: Painted cement retaining wall at back of driveway and completely stripped and stained a huge deck and uprights.

Response from Fitzpatrick Painting Inc
It is very unfortunate for me as the owner to have to read such a review. Mr. [Member Name Removed] called me after Jesse came out to give them a bid to repaint their house and deck during the 2015 season. He stated that although they felt things went sideways with the work we did in 2014, they continue to hear from their friends and neighbors how great Fitzpatrick Painting is. We agreed that maybe they had just been served a bad steak in 2014. (I did everything I could to make things right with Jeri in 2014 including offering to redo her deck at no charge in which she declined). He said they wanted to hire us to paint their house and that Jeri would be bringing the 10% deposit check to the office. He also asked that I review the bid in light of the experience they had with us in 2014 to see if there was anything I could do. I spoke with Jesse and he informed me that in light of what had transpired in 2014 he had given them a 'bottom line' price. Jeri brought the deposit check into the office the following day for the full, contracted price that Jesse had given them. I called her and left a message on her voicemail, informing her that we would not be able to discount the bid price but would be happy to throw in the additional line item for $500.00 at no charge. Very shortly after I had left that message I received a phone call from a Jeri. She was very upset and proceeded to tell me that Jesse knew nothing about what had happened in 2014. We are a small office and we talk in great lengths about a customer whenever they are less than happy) The ENTIRE office was very aware of who [Member Name Removed] was and all that transpired in 2014. Jeri told me she had changed her mind and did not want to hire us. She asked that we return her deposit check which we promptly did. If Mr. [Member Name Removed] was expecting a discount of a specific dollar amount when he called to accept our bid, it would have been nice to know that. We could have informed him at that time, if what he was asking for was something we were able to do.

The company responded promptly to our initial call for a bid. As the job was occurring late in the season there were some weather related schedule changes but the crew always showed up on time. Workers were professional, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and diligent about leaving a clean work site. We're very pleased.

Fitzpatrick Painting painted the interior of our house in 2006 and the exterior in 2008, and we were generally pleased with their work. Our most recent experience with them, however, has been very much less than satisfactory. Early this year we contacted their office to arrange to have some woodpecker damage to a few areas of our wood siding filled, sanded, and painted. They sent a person out on February 3 to inspect the damage and agreed that Fitzpatrick Painting would do the repair work in early May. We didn?t hear from them in May, so I called their office in late June to see when the work was scheduled and to say that we had found some water damage (not related to the woodpecker damage) to a small area of the siding that we wanted to have repaired. One of their painters called on June 26 to say he would be out on June 29 to patch the woodpecker holes and inspect the water damage. He didn?t show up on June 29 and didn?t call either. I called the office the next day and in response the painter called again to say he would be here on July 1. On July 1 the painter and a helper came, spent exactly 1h 15m filling the woodpecker holes, never did inspect the water damaged siding, and left. Moreover, he did a really sloppy job of applying the wood filler. On 16 July I called their office to see when we could expect to have the woodpecker repair finished (sanded and painted) and the water-damaged siding repaired. The pleasant person in the office told me that we were not on the schedule for the water-damaged siding and that she would send someone to inspect the water damage. A carpenter came the next day, inspected the damage and said that he would put the repair on the schedule for August. He also said that whoever was assigned the siding repair could also finish the sanding and painting of the woodpecker damage. On July 27 I received an invoice for the amount of $570.80, which included 8 hours labor and was payable on receipt. The invoice was for completion of the repair to the woodpecker damage. Since the work had not been completed, I called their office that same day and talked to a very pleasant person about the invoice. She apologized for the overcharge, reduced the total to $213.30, which included the 2.5 hours of labor already performed plus materials, and said that Fitzpatrick Painting would complete the job for no additional charge, which I assume was a gesture of goodwill. They sent a revised invoice. I called the office on August 3, paid the invoice by credit card, and asked when the remaining work was scheduled. I was told that the schedule for the next week or so would be made up on August 4, and was assured that our work would be on it. We heard nothing from Fitzpatrick Painting in August or in early September so I called again on September 8. I was told that they were very busy, were hiring some more carpenters and helpers, and would get to our job ASAP. By mid-October, the weather had started to turn and I still had heard nothing from them about a date to finish the woodpecker damage repair or to begin the water-damaged siding repair. By then my patience had run out. I hired another contractor to repair the water damage to the siding (who, incidentally, started the job within three days and finished promptly) and notified Tim Fitzpatrick in writing that 1) I no longer wanted them to do the water-damage repair, and 2) that I expected them to complete the repair of the woodpecker damage by the end of October. I never did receive a reply from Mr. Fitzpatrick, but within a few days I got a call from his project manager, who apologized and told me that he thought the job had been completed (what?). He said they would have someone out the next day to finish the woodpecker repair. The person assigned to the work did not come the next day because he was sick, but he did show up two working days later and finished the woodpecker repair. Dealing with Fitzpatrick Painting in 2015 has been a much different and painful experience than it was in 2006 and 2008, and I will not do business with them again.

Salesman arrived and performed walk through, asked questions, and provided proposal same day. He clearly explained they were very busy and it would be about 2.5 months wait. We were okay with that. They arrived about 2.5 months later. Our lead painter communicated the process, asked questions, and worked hard to meet our needs. Project took two full days.

From beginning to end, Fitzpatrick Painting was a pleasure to work with. Jesse came out to give me an estimate on the cost. He was very professional and answered all my questions. When my bid arrived it detailed all the work that they would do. Then Kellie came out to help me with color selection. I would have chosen a brighter color, but she talked me into a more subdued hue. It's a good thing! The color, once applied, was exactly what I wanted. Then Rich contacted me. He was the lead painter on my job. He and his crew were a delight to work with, very responsive to my questions and needs and very helpful. He even helped carry my groceries into the house one day!! I will definitely use Fitzpatrick Painting in the future and recommend them without qualification.

Foreman, Tommy, came to the house prior to painting to walk around, consulted him regarding paint color. We received a call informing us when painters would be out to start painting. They arrived on time. The body of the house was spray painted twice and the trim was brush painted twice. When the painting was completed Tommy walked with us around the house and if there were places that needed to be corrected he immediately had one of the painters correct it. When finished they picked up all their equipment and left no mess. They did the job quickly and efficiently. We are so very pleased with the painting that was done, the kindness, patience and the courtesy we were given that we highly recommend Fitzpatrick Painting.

This is a second review as I would like to offer an update given that initially I was dissatisfied over a number of issues stemming from this job. I want to add, that in the weeks after job completion I found the Company to be very responsive to my concerns. They made good on painting window screens that were initially omitted. Whatever touch-ups were necessary were promptly done. Regarding the lack of toilet facilities ( my garden was used as toilet ) for their crew, the Owner expressed surprise at this complaint, saying it had never come up before ... no one had ever complained in all the years of company business. ( THAT really surprised me ). The Owner offered to rebate part of the cost back to me, which I gladly accepted ( about 9%). So this is a revised rating score, that is somewhat better than the first, regarding this job and this Company. As regard the question, would I use this Provider in the Future? - Angies List doesn't give the Option of saying, Maybe. Which is what I would say.

I called the local Fitzpatrick office and talked to a supervisor who sent me information about their services including paints, warranties, and costs. I read the materials, signed the contract and sent in a check for 10 percent of the total cost. They required that all vegetation be cut back at least one foot from any surface to be painted. They made an on-site visit and discovered dry rot in the collar of one of the pedestals. I arranged with their office to have one of their carpenters come out to do the repair. He did so quickly and at my convenience. He was customer friendly All of this preliminary scheduling and planning required phone contact with office and professional staff. This was never a problem. The office reflected a customer first orientation that larger firms would do well to emulate. The phone receptionists were consistently pleasant and knowledgeable and appropriate supervisors were always available if a problem needed further work. It is important to note that this same customer first attitude was universally present in all the workers assigned to do the actual painting at my home. We were put on the work schedule beginning with the pressure wash. This was followed by a paint crew the following week. They began on a Monday and were done by Wednesday. I saw a supervisor on-site regularly or was able to immediately reach one by phone as necessary. The paint crew "worked clean." Vegetation was covered as was any surface that might be exposed to unwanted paint. When they left, with the exception of a few flecks of old paint that had been scraped off the trim that blew under the garage door, I didn't know they'd been there. What they did leave behind, however, was a beautiful, newly painted fifteen year old home that looks absolutely gorgeous.
Description of Work: Exterior painting of home to include complete pressure wash, window and gutter cleaning, checking for dry rot, caulking of hardiplank as necessary, painting of exterior walls and trim and painting of doors and all exterior wood railings and pedestals including scraping of old paint as required.

One year later...... I decided to wash the dirt of the south side of the house, using a hose with a nozzle. To my surprise the paint started to come off the 1by2 vertical boards. Each board I washed, paint came off. I call Fitzpatrick and told them the paint was peeling and it hadn't been a year since they painted. They sent out a representative within a few days. He asked if I power washed the area an I told him no. He them told me they would cover it under the warranty. However for my future reference, they do not cover peeling of previous paint layers. This paint job we paid 3200.00 has a 10 year warranty using Sherwin Williams, 25 yr warranty super paint or better. That is what it says in the contract. We are scheduled to have our touch up in August. I am not looking forward to the job they will do this time. By the way the representative they send out seemed more interested in my new fence. He even took pictures with his phone. He never could give me an answer why the paint was peeling Update: Aug. 28, 2014: Mark came out inspected the house, and explained to me step by step the procedure he would use to touch up the areas where the paint had failed. He assured me that if I had any more problems I was to call him and he would come out and address my problem. He also explained a little of Fitzpatrick's philosophy concerning their pride in customer service. If I understood correctly he is now the main painter here in Eugene. He was not the first painter of our house. Fitzpatrick made a good choice sending Mark out.
Description of Work: Our house was power washed prior to being painted. I was out of town the first day they started the job. My husband had to work ,so he checked in as often as he could. So I can not say how the house was prepared for the paint. The painters were polite, seemed professional and arrived on time each day. We were happy with the finished result. So we thought at the time. Update: Aug 28, 2014 A painter came out and inspected our house. He then painted all areas that were peeling.

Not just an 'F' but a HUUGE 'F"! I don't care how many "A' reviews are present here - my experience with them was upsetting. Canceled my contract. I have never been treated so poorly with regards to respect and customer service ever in my experience as a home owner. I am speechless, still. The initial process involved power washing the home as well as window washing and gutter cleaning. 7 days prior to their arrival we installed a brand new Central Air unit on the property. During the day of the power washing - damage was incurred to the outdoor unit. Two (2) large dents in the top. The same area a ladder was used to access the roof during power washing and gutter cleaning. Additionally, All debris from the roof, gutters, and patio overhang was blown into the yard and also our pond - which was cleaned out just one week prior as well. No attempts to cover or blow in another direction from the water feature was attempted nor was their any concern for the issue. Upon inspection I also noticed broken landscape lights and discovered my gutter "Plugs" in the bushes. Significant as we live under a number of fur trees and the debris in the gutters is great. These plugs keep the debris from going into the sewer line and clogging it. Grateful I discovered they were missing before I incurred the cost of a potential backup. At this time I also discovered a "Piece" of my porch overhang that had became detached during the power washing and tossed aside. During the "washing" I noticed water coming into the house via the windows even though all windows were shut and locked. When I contacted the owner to seek some guidance - he set an appointment with me and never showed. When I called him back, his reaction was.."It is, what it is". Unreal! No apologies. No concern, and just plain RUDE. Cocky doesn't even cover it! The damage to the C/A unit would have cost $65 to replace. I am urging caution to consider alternative companies that will support their customers, treat them with respect and at best, act like they care. If they cannot support their claims of professionalism at the basic level - the rest is just talk. The damage is secondary to how poorly they handled my concern. Unreal. Their lack of respect to my property is one thing - their lack of respect for us personally is unacceptableI will be spending my money with a local company that treats their customers how they would wish to be treated. That is all anyone wants. Obviously, Fitzpatrick has enough business that we don't matter and that is fine. But I am sharing my experience. We are good people who work hard for our money and I urge you to be on your game and take pics. You're recourse, should anything go "wrong", will be ZERO!.

Response from Fitzpatrick Painting Inc
I was out of town for the first week in June. I returned to the office on Monday June 9th. My team informed me that there were issues on the [Member Name Removed] job and that we had a less than happy customer. I immediately contacted [Member Name Removed] and spoke with her partner [Member Name Removed] who scheduled a time for me to meat with them at 11:00 that morning. As I mentioned previously, I had been out of town the week previous and it was a Monday! I dove into the phone calls and paper work that was awaiting me on my desk. The phone rang at 11:30 with and extremely unhappy customer on the other end. I was so embarrassed. How could I possibly have missed this appointment with a customer that was already unhappy. I apologized up and down and left and right to her and told her that I had no excuse. I simply lost track of time and forgot. She was not willing to listen and demanded her deposit be refunded (which we did) and the contract be canceled. Had I been given the opportunity to meet with them I would have been able to make right what was a pretty simple fix come to find out. Bummer for me, I am human and screw up occasionally and yes even forget an appointment. We will be sending the check for the $65 it cost to have their air conditioning unit repaired. I wish you the best [Member Name Removed] and [Member Name Removed] and I am sorry that I dropped the ball on my end.

Impressive crew; painstaking detail; arrived early; cleaned up after themselves each evening, stayed late when needed, made sure the quality and colours were acceptable before moving forward, had suggestions during the process that were very appropriate and it all made the outcome even better than expected.
