Phil's Fireplace

Phil scheduled the appointment by email and arrived on time. He is very pleasant, cordial, and respects your home. Carefully laid out a large (at least 6x6) padded drop cloth on the floor. Our fIireplace had not been used for 10 years, and Phil gave me a refresher course on its features and operation. I expected the service to take approx 30 minutes, but he is very generous with his time. Meticulous to detail, including painting interior. Looks beautiful again. Phil is obviously old school, by the way he takes care of his clients. He even told me that my early mid 1990's fireplace is very good quality and do not need a new one. I plan to schedule timely service calls.

I responded to the request for when I would like this work done with three alternative dates. I called them about a week later because the first alternative date was the next day. They never responded back to me. I called Angie's List who agreed to call Phil's Fireplace and he responded by email with only one alternative date incompatible with my situation. I am seeking a refund from Angie's List.

Went better than I thought possible! Wonderful service. I have had my fire places serviced before, never has and person/company come close to the Phil's work. Thank you. I'm having him do the other fireplace's in my house next week.

Phil arrived exactly on time and went right to work. He cleaned the fireplace and glass and then proceeded to take it apart where he then painted the inside of the fireplace to spruce it up. He answered all my questions, showed me how to run it if the power went out and put it all back together, looks fabulous. Great job, would definitely recommend him to others.

What an amazing experience! This is our first time having gas fireplaces in our home, and we just assumed the darkness on the glass was how it should be. After Phil finished, the fireplaces looked brand new and beautiful. We can even see the little embers burning...we didn't even know they existed!!

Summary: Great experience--I would hire Phil again in a heartbeat. He was punctual, very professional and polite, and very thorough. I bought a gas fireplace tuneup and cleaning deal from Angie's List because my gas fireplace has been anemic lately--not putting out much heat. I am skeptical of the value of appliance "cleanings," but felt the alternative was an expensive replacement, so decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Phil arrived a few minutes early, and was prepared to wait in my driveway until our appointment time. He started by asking if I was having any issues with my fireplace. I explained that it wasn't putting out as much heat as it used to, and he replied that he would investigate. He then covered the entire work area in front of the fireplace to protect my carpet and hearth area. Phil removed the ceramic logs and burner, and quickly found the problem--a spider had taken up residence in the gas line and partially clogged it. Phil cleaned out the line, thoroughly cleaned the entire fireplace, including the burner area, repainted the inside of the fireplace, discovered and repaired another problem--a loose electrical connection--that I had forgotten about, and left me with a 1-year warranty. He encouraged me to give him a call anytime if I had problems with the fireplace, or even if I just have questions about it. When he left, the fireplace looked and worked like new. I was very pleased with his service, and will gladly call Phil's Fireplace for any future gas fireplace service needs.

Phil is great. He came to our home after we had an unsatisfactory experience with an HVAC company assigned to our home by AHS. That HVAC service spent considerable time looking at our gas fireplace, and simply could not diagnose the problem. Instead, they guessed that an expensive new part was required. They guessed wrong. Phil came in, promptly took all of the gas fixtures apart, saw that there were clogs in the gas pipes, cleaned them, and everything works great. Saved me buying an unneeded $500 part. I would not hesitate to call Phil again.

There was an issue getting scheduled, I think because he was busy. Once on the calander for him to arrive, he was prompt. very courtious and profesional. He made sure I knew of the warranty for a year, and wanted me to call him for any needs I may have. His work was done in a timely manor and it looks great. A refreshing is just what the fireplace needed!

Phil is an absolute professional and very knowledgeable. First thing he did was take off his shoes. He then put a large blanket down in front of the fireplace so there would not be a mess of any kind. Phil then took everything out from inside the fireplace. He cleaned each part & then painted the inside of the fireplace. He replaced everything and then took the time to show me how to relight the pilot light. Phil also had me light the pilot light for which I am grateful. I didn't even have a clue as to how to open the glass door let alone figure out how to light the pilot light but Phil took the time to explain everything. Phil cleaned up everything and my fireplace looks as if it were new! I highly recommend Phil's Fireplace.

It was simple enough to make an appt. online and the confirmation shot back within a day. He inspected the burners and pilot assembly. He added paint where needed. A photo was taken of the logs before disassembling for use in reassembling. He vacuumed out the area and then added new embers. He was knowledgeable in ways to make the embers look less synthetic. Very nice experience!! We grabbed extra business cards to share.

Phil was very courteous and professional throughout the process. I received a call about two hours ahead of the planned service appointment noting that Phil had a cancellation, providing an opportunity to move up the appointment if desired. This was actually helpful, so we agreed to a new time, and Phil showed up promptly as agreed. Phil was very thorough and efficient, providing plenty of opportunity to explain what he was doing and allowing for questions along the way. I was very pleased with the outcome of the service, and would definitely recommend Phil's Fireplace for any fireplace service needs in the future.

Phil arrived on time and didn't waste a minute. He took everything apart, cleaned it, checked to be sure it worked, and put it back together. He showed how to light the pilot light and turn the gas off in an emergency. When he finished there was no mess left for me to clean up. He was very professional and pleasant to work with. Over the past 50+ years I have had many people perform work in my house but Phil is clearly the best. I can strongly rec him to anyone who needs help with a fireplace problem.

The service was okay. I was satisfied with everything. There wasn't anything that I disliked. I didn't pay anything additional on top of the big deal.

The technician did a comprehensive job of cleaning the fireplace, and he repaired it. During the repair, he used a dropcloth to ensure that no mess was left behind. He also informed us of some issues that would require further service, including a few replacement parts. He seemed very knowledgeable and was courteous, prompt, and professional.

Very impressed with the professional, detailed service. Explained what was being done as well as providing suggestions to enhance efficiency. Took entire insert apart, vacuumed out box AND repainted. Looks brand new. Would definitely recommend and will use his services again.

He was super. Phil returned my call promptly and set up an appointment. The day of the appointment he called and asked if I wanted earlier service. When he arrived he was very diligent about caring for the house....took his shoes off, spread a coverall around the fireplace etc. After checking on the problem, he went to work and found the issue. Even though I was happy at that point, he proceeded to give my fireplace a "tune-up." Phil did a wonderful job of cleaning, painting, checking and arranging everything so the fireplace was the best it has been in many years. Before leaving, he checked everything, making sure the fan turned on when the fireplace got hot etc. He also made sure to answer any questions I had. His service was beyond what I asked for. Additionally, he was pleasant while doing his job. I will certainly use him again and will recommend him to friends.

Fantastic. He took care in cleaning out and making our fireplace look its best. He was very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the outcome.

I had purchased a Big Deal for the service. We are going to have him do additional work. This was the first time that we used him and he was very knowledgeable and very straightforward. The quality of service was good.

He responded very quickly - we talked first on a Tuesday, and he came out on Saturday. He was totally wonderful in his manner and attitude, and did not mind me watching him work and asking questions. He was very thorough when he worked on the fireplace, and we had had some questions about the fan which had been getting very noisy. After he cleaned fireplace very thoroughly, he checked out the fan, and he said the fan needed replacing. Then he asked if we had cats, so I told that until a year ago we had had three, but we only have two right now. I told him they tend to sleep in front of the fireplace! He told me that very often cat hair gets pulled into the fan, and this causes it seize up. He had to order a fan, but he said that he would be out the next Tuesday to install it. So, he did that too. Plus, he guarantees his work for a year, so I only have to call him if we experience any problems. I would recommend him very highly.
