The wierd thing is that both the people who suggested I use Oklahoma Landscape and the welder who finally came to finish to project kept insisting that they were good people. I don't however understand the logic of failing to respond despite multiple calls and emails. Only once I sent an angry email with a one week deadline, did they finally respond.
Now that it is complete, the work quality is decent (the concrete is chipping away in places), and overall price was good. However the experience was taxing, and I would try a different contractor next time.
The masonry (stone steps) project was not done by the OLI's first choice subcontractor due to an unavoidable issue. This was perhaps the most frustrating subcontractor. Due to lack of supervision by the subcontractor, the steps were 80% complete, when they had to be torn out and re-built do to errors. However, the subcontractor did spot this on his own and had the steps torn our and reconstructed without prompting from us or OLI. Because the masonry work commmenced after the adjacent flowerbeds had been completed (including mulch) and becuase it took way longer due to the tear-out and re-build, and becuase this subcontractor was the messiest, we had stone chips everywhere. But more disappointing was all this damaged some of the adjacent newly planted shrubs. We also had to complain about how the steps were finished near the bottom and at OLI's direction the sub returned and rebuilt the portions that were poorly done. There was no extra cost to us due to the subcontractor's errors. Eventually 90% of the mess was cleaned up and eventually they completed a very nice set of steps.
Total elapsed time for the project took about 50% longer than anticipated and we really had to stay on top of it as we got into the final "small' issues that any project like this reaches. However, OLI always responded including more recent follow-up issues. Recent follow-up has been at no additional charge to us. In the end we are very satisfied and our experience with OLI and would recommend them to others and we would definitely use them again.
