Description of Work: I contacted the company after the person who cleaned our two chimneys indicated that we had some masonry issues with one of the chimneys--loose/chipped mortar joints near the crown and a couple of other areas. Wayne stopped by and said that the problem was not significant/serious enough to warrant the expense of putting up a scaffolding and making the repairs. Basically said that the chimney cleaner was overzealous in his assessment. I appreciated Wayne's candor, he probably spared me a few thousand dollars in unneeded repairs.

I am OK apologizing for price but Hopefully I will never have apologize for the quality of our work. This Angies List member contacted me to come look at various cracks and missing natural stone veneer work on his home. When we spoke on the phone I indicated to him that I would be happy to come and look at the damage and would try and coordinate a time to meet and he agreed to send me some pictures of the damage which he did. To get everything done in my day, I generally work until sunset as I had mentioned to this Angies List member. So as luck would have it, he was not home when I arrived but as he requested I still walked around the house to survey the damaged stone masonry veneer cracks on the outside walls, that he was concerned about, and left my calling card in his mailbox as typical. I then got back with the Angies list member via phone and we, discussed the options about repairing the cracks in various places on the home. Do to "on going movement probability" I suggested that to repair certain cracks more correctly and hopefully more permanently we would need to install "control joints" in those spots. During the conversation, he pointed out that there was an additional crack I had not not seen. So again I went to his site a second time to look again to make sure I was including everything he indicated he wanted done and again he was not home. I then called and spoke with him on the phone again and gave him a price for repairs. He indicated he would get back with me if he elected to proceed. As mentioned before, I try to correct problems if possible, not just "temporary put a topical patch on them". In this Angies list contact, I made two trips to his site, and three phone calls to talk along with emails In the emails, I even sent example pictures of a similar project that we had preformed to illustrate what I was proposing. This member totally impressed me in telling me that he was a "85 years of age young man, and still worked a Farm outside of Oklahoma City" along with taking care of other business interest he had. So I know that just like myself, he was a busy guy, and thank him for taking the time write the review, even though we did not do any work for him.

I have been remiss in thanking this "Angies list member" for the added "bonus" they included with their payment for getting a "arch repair" project pushed though as quickly as we were capable of doing. I had sent them their "all ready paid copy invoice" in the postal mail, but it was returned to me, and I had assumed they may had moved all ready. This member had a house that was going on the market, for sale, and a tight timeline in which they wanted a somewhat complicated project to be done correctly, and "not hurriedly rushed or just patched up". I had reluctantly agreed to try and meet that deadline they requested, but we were 3 days late finishing the project. They were very gracious enough to go ahead and pay part of the agreed bonus anyway, for our increase efforts. So, again Let me say "Thank You for that gracious gesture". Also thank you for the high marks on they quality of our work. Wayne

I called Wayne Null and asked him if he could come out and look at the mortar and brick problems I had and give me an idea of what needed to be done. He did this promptly and called to tell me what he found and what he recommended that should be done to fix the issues and to make the house look much better without it being obvious that the repairs had been done. He said that in rebuilding the wall that they would use as much of the original brick as possible, which is what they did and it looks fantastic. His crew was very nice and they worked diligently once they started to get the job finished. They power/acid washed the brick to clean the excess mortar off and give the house a fresh look. There had been ivy growing on the house for years and there were a whole lot of dead vines stuck to the brick all over the house and chimney. They painstakingly removed all of those to do the repairs they needed to do. Wayne told me at the start that curb appeal was what he focused on when making repairs and that's exactly what he did. The house looks 100% better now. They didn't take any shortcuts and did everything thoroughly. They really pay attention to detail and do a great job. He didn't ask for any payment until I was completely satisfied with their work. Very professional and nice to work with.
Description of Work: I purchased a 1928 house that was in need of various types of brick and mortar repair. There was a wall across the front porch that needed to be rebuilt due to deterioration. The chimney needed a new cap and there was a lot of mortar erosion on the chimney near the top. There were many places that the mortar had fallen out in different places around the house or there were significant cracks in the mortar. These problems were all addressed and fixed by Fox B & S.

I called Fox and scheduled a meeting for an estimate. The technician was on time and friendly. I explained that I had a stack of bricks which were left over from the original bricking of the house. He showed me that there was much more damage that the little hole in the wall. He explained how they would perform the repairs and discussed when they would do it. I explained that they need to be careful not to let my dogs loose - the corner of the house is also the corner of the fence. He gave me an estimate and we parted ways. The crew showed up on time and began work. I was able to see the progress each day after I came home from work. I saw that they were installing the metal retainers that hold the wall to the house, the mortar fully covered the bricks and the outside was perfectly concave and they kept the work area clean. When it came time to go around the corner, they pulled up the T post and moved it in some to clear where they needed to work yet still keep the dogs penned it. Some time during construction, we lost power, and these guys just fired up their generator and kept on working. I guess nothing was going to stop them from meeting their timetable. Once the work was completed, they gave the new section an acid washing, to age the new grout to match the color of the old. Then they reset the T post and put fence back almost like it had never been moved. Overall, I was pleased with the quality of the work, their work ethic, and the fact that you can't tell that there was ever any damage. If I ever need any more brickwork, this is the company I will call.

I spoke to Wayne over the phone and arranged for him to look at the situation and give me an estimate. He came by and walked around the exterior of the house with me as we noted areas that needed to be repaired. He outlined a plan for repair involving going around the house and focusing on the lower half of the house, which is where the work needed to be done. He said that he would have the loose mortar removed and new mortar put in its place. Also, lots of bricks would be replaced and some earlier repair attempts by another group would be fixed the right way. Within a week to ten days the work was started, and it lasted about a week (not including the weekend). The gentleman who did the work was very friendly and helpful. He put up with my basset hound barking at him occasionally and was very respectful of our property. He had to trim some of our hedges to get to the bricks. I am very pleased with the results. I wish I had called Fox Brick and Stone earlier rather than trying "amateur hour" and getting amateurish results. I would sincerely recommend Fox Brick and Stone. They know what they are doing.

The work was quoted and scheduled very simply. He gave us good advice about our historic home. The mortar had dark coloring added to it, and he added it to the repairs to keep it from standing out. The work was done on schedule and very much to our satisfaction. He was not the cheapest bid, but he gave us the most confidence that he would do a good job and we were not disappointed. I would suggest this company for anyone with a historic home or for those that want a high-quality job. Since this job, we have scheduled additional work.
Description of Work: The service date and amount spent are not really accurate, but are as close as I remember. There were several places around the house that had damage from the house settling. - bricks around the back door had been pulled away from the house because the stone steps had settled - various places around the front entry needed to have the mortar filled - A couple of the concrete sills needed to be reset.

A Fox technician arrived as scheduled, examined our fireplace- which was in very poor condition with several loose and or missing bricks in the firebox- asked several questions, advised us on exactly what he was about to do and then proceeded to methodically deconstruct / reconstruct our firebox and repair the damper. A few days later when I received my invoice, I was also impressed to receive a step by step photo log of the work done. I feel this job was done with professionalism and is of top quality.

Wayne was very knowledgeable. He was very concerned with quality in a way that demonstrated that he takes pride in his work. This may come at a slightly higher price than some other contractors. However, the attention to detail would probably be worth any extra cost. Much to my chagrin, my husband wished to use another contractor. (For this particular application, my husband was more concerned with cost vs. quality.) If the opportunity for brick work arises again, I would opt to use Wayne and just not mention it to my husband until after the work was complete.

After finding this company on Angie's list, and looking at their website, I called to inquire about their service. Wayne was the person to whom I spoke, and he was very thorough, efficient, and truthful. He said that their website needed to be updated, so he sent me some newer photos of their mailbox work, via e-mail. He told me the cost would be $1250, and when I was ready, to call and let him know and he would order the house number plate, which, he said, would take about three weeks to come in. He said they would invoice us once the job was done - no money up front, just the promise it would be done right. In the meantime, they would begin the "footing" work. He said he couldn't give me an exact time line, but when all was said and done, the timeline was really on target for the information he provided. They came once to see our house brick color and where the mailbox would be set. Then they came to bring the house number plate and begin the footing work. Next, they left three samples of brick on the porch (we weren't home), which were numbered. Wayne called a day or two later and asked which brick we preferred since we didn't have the exact brick color available to us. I gave him our choice, which was a very good match, and the next day, by day's end - wha-la! - we had a new brick mailbox. It really is beautiful; the mailbox itself is a very heavy gage steel, large, and of excellent quality. I was concerned, once the new box was in how we would get the old mail box, which was standing next to the new one, out of the ground since it had been in cement. Lo and behold the next day, the old one was gone! They came back and took it out for us without being asked. What a pleasant surprise that was. There was never a mess, no sign they had been there except for the beautiful new box and some fresh dirt (which was leveled and neat) where they had dug. Bravo to Fox - they deserve an AAA rating. Outstanding workmanship and service.

Job went very well. This company was extremely responsive! The salesman was very positive, thorough and cheerful taking my order. They had a temporary replacement mailbox in place before sunset the same day I contacted them, and they started work on removal of old ruins and pouring of complete footing (unlike previous job had been) for new mailbox. The brick mason took great pride in his quite artistic work. Unless you have specific other druthers, they install only top quality metal mailboxes (full, heavy-duty hinge / full-finished paint job / even a nifty magnetic closure)! At my request, they had the mailbox up within about 5 days, and the plaque followed (as soon as they received it from the stone-cutter) about 5 days later. I'm very pleased with the workmanship and responsiveness!

The old walk had to be taken out, very laboriously. Then bad weather impeded work, so it took longer than had originally been expected, but the results are very nice.
Description of Work: A long, brick front walk and street landing were replaced. Borders and steps were laid with mortar, the main part of the walk, dry lay.
