This company is obviously trying to take advantage of people and insurance companies when they need their services. I'm sure they figure if people are using their homeowners insurance they can bill the insurance company whatever they want. They sent two people out even though they knew in advance how small of a job it was. One of the two immediately said something about water damage to the wood floor and my husband told her no that it was just where the wood stain was darker from the time the house was built then the other person agreed. They proceed to suck 1 maybe 2 gallons (their comments after it was over) out of the two vents. They set a small device down that quickly confirmed there was no moisture anywhere else and left. My husband tried to pay them, but they said they would send a bill. When he asked how much it would be they said about $100 - 150. It was several weeks and we had not received a bill. Then someone called and asked for our insurance information and I told them we had been waiting on a bill from them because we weren't going to file it through insurance since we had a $1000 deductible and it wan't that big of a project. So, a few days later we received a bill for $693.00. Here is what they billed us for: 2 labor techs for 1.5 hours to extract water from ducts. $85.50 (they were not at our house more than 15 minutes); 1 Water Loss Van and Equipment $350; 1 Dump Fee $82.50; 1 Moisture Test for Water $100;1 Trip Charge - includes fuel and insurance $75. Needless to say, we are not paying that much and the insurance company has been notified of their unscrupulous business practices. Just to make sure I give all of the information, when we received the outrageous bill, I called them and the lady I talked to didn't sound surprised or apologize (like it was a mistake). She just said she would pass the information on to management like she took my kind of phone call all the time. A few days later we received a revised bill where they had taken off the $350 van/equipment charge and the dump fee. We are still not paying even that much for the puny amount of work that was done.
Description of Work: Had two floor vents with water in them due to a slab leak. The slab leak was repaired successfully by another company. We were very lucky in that they leak was caught before damage occurred. We simply had a small amount of water in the vents closest to the leak. They sucked 1 maybe 2 gallons (their comments after it was over) out of the two vents with their equipment. They set a small device down that quickly confirmed there was no moisture anywhere else and left.
