The transmission is an automatic four wheel drive with a push button engagement. They diagnosed that problem, discovered that the transmission was slipping (which I had noticed) and recommended that I rebuild it. They gave me the real story and the options. They initially thought one issue was a bad switch. After replacing it, they discovered that it was something else and did not charge me for that switch. Overall, the expereince was good. It is not the cheapest place but the work was of quality and often you get what you pay for. I am satisfied that I have a transmisison which will last for the remainder of the vehicle's life.

Transmission began to fail before we took a road trip to Kansas City. It is the primary worrk truck for our small business which requires a great deal of travel. The truck is an 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and has 252,000 miles on it. We took it to our usual shop, the dealership and they thought it may have been the sswitch that controls the torque converter ($350) and they flushed the transmission also, hoping that would fix it but it didn't. Their estimate was $3500, which was for a rebuilt transmission from Saginaw, MI. We felt strongly that the overall life of the truck is limited and so a rebuilt transmission would outlive the truck and so wanted to go elsewhere, not the dealership where we had to cover there overhead and all. So we check Angie's List & the Better Business Bureau and Builder's Trnasmission was on both lists as A+. We made an appointment to have them give us an estimate and they diagnosed the problem so well, that it was "easy to trust them" to do the right thing. We are very happy with our choice.

I've never had to have this kind of work done on a vehicle, but I like my minivan so much that I didn't want to have to get rid of it. All of the employees we had contact with were attentive, courteous and honest in their evaluations and estimates. It only took two days to complete the job, and I am very pleased with both the cost and service with two year/24,000 mile warranty. I appreciate that they take the time to drive the vehicle around a bit after completion of the job, to make sure it all is working well.

Great from start to finish

I called the phone number for Bulider's Transmission Monday morning to talk to them about the noise my truck was making and to schedule an appointment to have it checked out. I spkoe with Carolyn, who was very knowledgable about my vehilce and told me the noise could be caused by several different issues but assured me that they would be able to figiure out the exact issue and repair it. I took my truck to Builder's Transmission Monday afternoon and met Jeff who offered to take a test drive with me in the truck. We took it around the block and based on the sound he heard from my truck, he told me that he was fairly sure it was a transmission problem. He told me they woul put it on the rack no later than first thing Tuesday morning and that he would call me with an estimate. He actually called me around 6:30 PM Monday afternoon and told me that the transmission needed to be rebuilt for a cost between ~$2200-2800, and that it would be ready sometime Friday. Jeff called me about 6:30PM Thursday afternoon to tell me that his technicians had stayed late to complete the work on my truck, and that it was ready for immediate pick up! The charges came in at the bottom end of the estimate range at ~$2,250. I picked up my truck tht afternoon and could tell immediately that the noise was gone and the truck rand shifted very smooth!
