Description of Work: We purchased a design consultation deal through Angie's List, but ended up not redeeming it. We did not contact WMB Builders and no services were performed. I have no concerns at all about this company - We just decided to go in a different direction with our remodeling plans.

WMB did a good job. Brenda, in the office, was delightful to work with. Lew and Walt were professional and knowledgable. The few bumps we encountered were handled professionally and effectively. If I ever need any additional remodeling, I would definitely get a quote from them. Just be aware: Lew is out of the office a lot and does not always check his email in a timely fashion...a phone call works better with him.
Description of Work: I had a room remodeled. It involved removing a hot tub, putting up a wall, adding two doors, staining new doors and a lot of electrical work.

They were professional and friendly. The work was outstanding. They used a lot of subcontractors and every subcontractor was probably somebody that we would choose ourselves. They really bent over backwards and they were in our house a lot; we almost felt like it was family helping us out because they were so nice. They were the tops and we will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: We used WMB Builders because we have a Cape Cod and we wanted one room remodeled and another room and bathroom that were unfinished to be finished. It was a pretty big job. It was bathrooms, closets and the whole thing all the way through to finish. It was like from an attic space to finish. It is a loft with the space for two bedrooms, a bath and a hall closet. One bedroom was poorly refinished by my husband and his friends so they had to totally redo it and add insulation and fix and re-drywall one side. The bathroom, hallway closet and bedroom on the other side were just attic space with wood beams.

WMB Builders gave us advice and designed the space to accomplish what we wanted. Our lot sloped to the rear, so we were able to add this basketball court at the same level as the existing basement. With their help and advice we were able to cut through the basement wall to access this space. Their advice and guidance was invaluable, as we had a tight space to accomplish what we wanted. We had hoped the cost would be lower, but we realized after the fact that you get what you pay for. The quality of their work was great. They communicated with us during every step of the process - sometimes two or three times a day. We would highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: We purchased a Spec. home from the bank. In our previous home we used WMB Builders to finish the basement and thought it would be wise to use them in our new home. We needed to convert a first floor office into a bedroom. We have two small boys and we wanted them both to be on the same floor as us. We needed to convert an over sized pantry into a larger laundry room. They helped us redesign both spaces to provide the space we needed. Lastly, we purchased this property on a two acre lot as we knew we wanted to add a half court indoor basketball court.

From start to finish, our project took approximately two months. Walt Morrow Builders did a great job keeping us informated as to their progress and next steps. Their workmen showed up on time and did a wonderful job cleaning up after themselves. We made a few changes during the project, and Walt Morrow Builders when out of their way to accommodate us. We had a problem with a granite counter top but Walt Morrow Builders took the lead to resolve the problem in a prompt and profession manner and to our complete satisfaction. It was easy to work with Walt Morrow Builders. We are very satisfied with their services and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for peace of mind in working with a contractor.

My experience with WMB Builders has been nothing short of fantastic. Each person that I've dealt with has been pleasant, professional, kind and very patient. There has never been a problem getting in touch with someone at the company if I have questions. I have appreciated and agreed with their recommendations. There have been multiple reasons why they've had to temporarily stop their part of the project witch included a family tragedy. Through it all, they were sympathetic and understanding. They've never once complained about anything and they've dealt with all of my concerns without delay making every attempt to please me. They are true professionals in every sense of the word. The work is ongoing and an update will be submitted upon completion of the project.
Description of Work: WMB did some demolition in various parts of the house, structural damage repair, installed OSB throughout most of the house and installed glass block windows in the basement. They totally demoed the bathroom (excluding the ceiling) which included a cast iron tub and a slab of cement over a portion of the floor. They removed the kitchen floor and the walls between the living room and the dining room. There was some structural damage to the first and second floors due to the house settling over the past 100 yrs., so they raised them up. They also repaired the ceiling in a second floor bedroom where one of the main rafters was coming apart and posing a serious safety hazard. The job is not completed yet.

We were impressed from the start. Walt arrived at our house on crutches but still climbed the ladder into the attic to inspect the existing structure to see if our ideas were feasible. Walt and Lew then began to work with us on fine tuning our expectations and goals. We were provided concepts and then went back and forth with the company several times until everyone was satisfied with the final designs. During this phase, Walt and Lew provided a lot of ideas and guidance about how to remodel the room and make if feel like part of the existing home. The project was completed on schedule and there were no unexpected costs or delays. Since we have young children the workers took care to shut off the room by installing a temporary wall to prevent the kids from getting into the work area. They also kept the house very clean. At one point a leak developed over the holidays and Lew came out to inspect the damage. The issue was resolved quickly even though we were in the middle of the holiday season. After the construction was finished we noticed some minor issue with the ceiling. There was no questions asked, they were at our house fixing the issues within a week. Even then every care was taken to keep our house clean and safe for our family.
Description of Work: The project was a family room remodel. The project included: removing half wall, removal of old paneling, removal of existing ceiling, raised our ceiling to roof line to form a half cathedral ceiling, added new windows, replaced paneling with drywall, rebuilt mantel, all new electrical wiring, outlets and fixtures were installed, and painting. They did not do the carpet installation.

Very professional from beginning to end of project. Took the time to plan and discuss every step of the project. Great people all the way through -- courteous, left the place clean and did great work. Always showed up when said they would. I'd hire them again without hesitation. We love the work they did and how nice they made the place look.

somewhat friendly and ok in-house experience; never got 2nd response so don't know about other service.
Description of Work: met for in house estimate and discussed options for remodeling of attic. they never returned an estimate nor my inquiry for a response. If businesses aren't interested in doing work they should let the customer know. I'd be much more appreciative if they had called back and said "we don't want this job because of x,y,z" Unprofessional to not respond and even if they would be good I won't be checking back.

Walt came out and looked at some termite damage that we had in our home. He inspected it thoroughly and we discussed our options. Walt let us know that we did not need to perform much work at all, as we had caught the termites very early. We loved the fact that he was honest with us, and did not try to take advantage of the situation. We will definately contact Walt in the future for other projects, or maybe even a new build!

This project started because we needed a new roof. We thought we wanted to add on to the house and enlarge the kitchen and we thought this would be the perfect time for the addition. We were working with an a separate architect, when we met Walt Morrow. At our first meeting, he listened to our dreams and desires. He told us that once we decided on an architectural design, he would would be able to accomplish the work, within our budget. As things progressed and work was going to start, Walt was conscientious that we were going to be living in the house, while the renovation was going on. We had also planned a vacation, and he made sure we were comfortable with demolition occurring while we were gone. The new roof went on the week after Memorial Day and 2 weeks later we left on vacation. When we arrived home, everything was gutted and our new flooring was being installed. Also, a window we were moving from the dining room, into the living room was installed. The old cabinets, trim and doors that we wanted to donate to Habitat for Humanity were neatly piled on our porch, just as we requested. Lew Teale, Walt's on site partner arranged for the Habitat pick up! Talk about above and beyond our expectations. As work progressed during the summer, Lew was by the house daily, and things moved along as we expected. Walt and Lew kept us on schedule, telling when we needed to make which choices, without overwhelming us! If they came across something unexpected, Walt promptly contacted me and gave me our options (like the south side cedar siding needing replaced, due to rot). Any issues we had during the project were handled promptly and professionally. When we needed to move out of the bedrooms for paint, trim, doors and carpet, Lew was reasonable with giving us the time to do so. This work was completed as quickly as possible, because Lew knew we were "camping" in the basement. Work was completed by mid September, and we recently had an open house. The look on our friends and family's faces when they come into our renovated home was complete astonishment. There are times when I come home and have to double check to make sure I'm at the right house! Our home is gorgeous and we have Walt Morrow to thank!
Description of Work: We had lived in the house approximately 17 years and basically hadn't performed any general maintenance work. The house required a new roof, and because we wanted to update, the entire first floor would be renovated with flooring, trim and interior doors. Rooms included the front entry way, living room, kitchen, master bath, a second 1/2 bath and 2 bedrooms. In addition to new kitchen cabinets and appliances, we also had a built in bookshelves and entertainment center designed for the family room. We also requested stonework on the walls behind the fireplace be completed as part of the project.

Excellent to work with. Walt Morrow recommended and helped select appropriate siding and window products, and made great suggestions regarding finishing touches. Walt's construction manager, Lew Teale, is great to work with - stopped by job site several times a day to check on progress and give us a report. Kept us informed as each step occurred, and let us know if anything needed attention. Responded immediately to any concerns we had. We are very pleased with the way the remodeling work was completed, and feel we made a good investment. Would recommend Walt Morrow Builders for remodeling projects
Description of Work: Remodeled front exterior of 22 year old home by replacing cedar siding with new James Hardie siding and trim, installed new Marvin Windows, painted stucco on sides and rear, painted gutters and downspouts, tore out and replaced front concrete porch. Completely replaced tired exterior with fresh and updated look.

We bought this home as a foreclosure. What attracted us to it was the original superb construction, however the home had been custom built for someone else and there were some things that didn't fit our needs. We found that this home was originally built by Walt Morrow (of WMB company), so we contacted him to look at remodeling the home for us. We also spoke to other remodeling companies. Walt's bid of the job was higher than some of the others, but conversations with him leading up to the bid suggested he truly understood what was going to be needed to make the house ours while keeping workmanship the same original quality. We gave WMB the job based upon those conversations, not the bid. We felt some of the other bids would in the end up costing the same or more with surprises and possibly lesser quality. Walt arranged a meeting with the original architect and helped us plan out the remodeling. Our concern was also on time frame. Walt's business partner Lou managed the job site. I visited the job site most days and there was ALWAYS someone there. Many times two or three trades. Lou knew who was coming, going, when and why. Our job required a lot of thinking and planning. For example, we were using most of the cabinets that were in the kitchen, just in a completely different arrangement. Utilizing these cabinets required carefully removing them and then manually rearranging them in the garage to see how they could fit best. This was tedious work that was part of the whole job process. Also, in dealing with the various trades and their bids, Walt on more than one occasion he was able to renegotiate the deal strictly to our benefit. His subcontractors were of the kind you would expect from a custom builder, not rookies for cheap hire. In the end, the house was transformed to our home. While we spent a lot of money, we don't feel we wasted any money and in fact received a good deal. When we were finished and settled up, there was a detailed list of the "extra's". While these were extra charges, they were not surprises as we knew when we were going outside of the contract. the extra costs were reasonable and all made sense to us. I have been through the building process before and you MUST attach a price the possibility of contractor aggravation, surprises and disappointment. When you factor all this in, WMB is a bargain.
Description of Work: We bought a foreclosed home that was in good condition, but was outdated and the layout did not meet our family's needs. We needed a major remodeling of 10 year old home. Reconfigured Kitchen to new layout. Added several new appliances. Also added a bedroom and redid several other rooms.

Walt and his group of subs were very patient with me at every stage......from making sure I had EXACTLY the design I wanted......seeing how it would look and feel before we actually started construction to making sure everything was very clean the day I moved in. We made some modifications along the way (as anyone building a cusom home would do) and Walt helped make sure that those changes went smoothly and were finished EXACTLY as I wanted them to be finished. He also offered advice whenever I had a question. I was at the job site every day (not because I had to be.....I wanted to see how it all went together for myself) and either Walt or someone he worked with was there to answer my every question. I really appreciated it! I do not think the process could have gone any better. Walt delivered more than he estimated...he gave me a perfect home. Even when I made changes and asked his advice, he always offered common sense approaches to me changes and advised me in advance of options and their associated costs. At closing time for the project to end we were right on to the penny.
Description of Work: Walt and his company guided me through the entire homebuilding process, from design ideas and floor plans to a completely finished new home. His experience and expertice helped me make critical decisions for all the steps in between and his common sense attitude saved me thousands in the end. He ran interference with all the subcontractors as well as with the city when they tried to tell us how they wanted my house to be built. Their idea was a personal opnion and would have resulted in additional cost and a poorer looking home from the street. Walt played their game and we got what we wanted (it was my money after all.....not the city inspectors)

Very impressed with the quality of the job, determination of the workers to do a good job, and the amount of follow-up and concern that Walt Morrow had during the process. I would highly recommend Walt and his team to anyone that wants a pleasant experience. Many neighbors have commented on how nice the house looks.
Description of Work: Had old cedar siding on the house, which was removed and replaced with Hardi board. Also subsequent to the siding job, WMB reinforced a basement wall with I-beams and moved a wall out and re-drywalled. WMB also reinforced a floor joist that had some termite damage and re-ran a dryer vent.

My 79-old father recently became wheelchair bound. He and my mother purchased a two bedroom, slab-on-grade condo that required some modification to accommodate his wheelchair. We had approximately 4 weeks from purchase to the estimated date that the condo needed to be ready. Our project begin with a site assessment and follow-up quote from Mr. Walt Morrow of WMB Builders, Inc. He was on time, gave us several options and strategies to address our problems and provided a complete estimate. Once we decided on the solution best suited to our family. The work began immediately including removal of a wall, old shower stall, vanity and commodes. Throughout the project the WMB Builders were extremely careful to contain the "mess" and protect the new carpet and remaining walls, doors and woodwork. The employees were polite and cleaned up all aspects of their work each day. Mr. Lou Teale was the company representative on site most days, and like Mr. Morrow he was extremely professional, friendly and demonstrated concern for my parent's likes an dislikes as the project continued. Special lighting and compliance with ADA requirements were just two examples of the extra care and concern that was provided. Also, since it was a remodel WMB Builders wanted to match the existing materials (woodwork, vanity, and hardware) as closely as possible. However, the original supplier was out of business. They had to improvise on the trim and bath fixtures. The final products were matched excellently. As noted earlier, remodel jobs can result in "surprises" that may have occurred during the original construction, we uncounted one in the shower and plumbing area. WMB Builders made sure we were aware of all the issues and resolved issues after our concurrence. Even with a few surprises there were no change orders or budget overruns with the project! WMB Builders, Inc. was an extremely response, professional company that I would recommend freely to others. It was a pleasure working with them and I would certainly hire them again.
Description of Work: WMB Builders assisted in the renovation of a bathroom to provide handicap accessibility. The project included: enlarging the original bathroom footprint; reconstructing a walk-in shower (including special plumbing and shower controls) to allow a wheelchair entry; conversion of vanity and bowl for wheelchair access; installation of "comfort height commodes. Also, a larger hot water tank was installed to support the new shower capability. As with any remodel, surprises were encountered and WMB Builders responded beyond our expectations with solutions and timely progress.

Description of Work: We had a big oak tree blow down on our house causing a lot of structural damage. We called WMB Builder and Mr. Morrow came out the same day. They were able to put our home back together quickly with minimum inconvenience to our family. We took advantage of our insurance work to also do some remodeling. Walt and Steve were wonderful to deal with;they complemented each other well and brought different strengths to the process. They epitomized their motto, "personal attention every step of the way." We particularly appreciated their up front desire to look at our lot and their involvement in the initial clearing process. They listened well and demonstrated a high commitment to quality and high integrity in offering a proposal that didn't "low-ball" or cut unseen corners. They also knew when to simply propose and not push. The difference between Walt Morrow and many other builders (including customer home builders) was striking. We felt we could trust them to build a quality home. Ultimately we went with another builder (Walt Morrow was #2 on our list) who also demonstrated the same qualities. However, we have nothing but positive to say about our experience with Walt Morrow Builders.
Description of Work: Walt Morrow Builders was one of about a half dozen builders we looked at for building our new home. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted. Walt Morrow and Steve Higgins met with us several times to understand what we wanted in a new house, look at our lot (and actually guide initial clearing to get an idea of site issues and house placement), and develop an initial proposal (including tentative pricing) from our specifications. The next stage would have involved working with a designer to develop more precise blueprints and specifications to lead to a firmer pricing proposal.
