We want to make folks purchasing certain granite, quartz countertops aware of horrible experience we had with the subcontractor that Home Depot uses KBR or Kitchens by Rutenschroer. We purchased through a different supplier, but would avoid KBR as a counter top supplier/installer at all cost—especially if you value your time, quality, communication, or working with skilled craftsmen. They were in my house 6 different times over 6 months for a simple install of two 4sq ft countertops that should have taken a couple of hours. Additionally, they damaged our vanity, so we had to have furniture finishers out twice to fix damage they had made. They even showed up at my house on the wrong day even though I had used their text message system to reject their suggested install date. They originally installed the wrong dimension countertops even though I had identified a wrong measurement during approval of drawings—they didn’t modify their CAD drawings before cutting. During this visit they drilled the faucet holes incorrectly, drill through one of our new sinks, and did not anchor them properly. They ended up breaking one of the sinks when trying to remove so we were delayed for some time to get a replacement custom order sink. On one visit there was a huge gouge in one of the counters. On another attempt to install the countertops were not the right color and did not match the existing tops. One yet another one of the backsplashes was chipped. During this visit they ran a screw through the front of our brand-new vanity. Luckily this was a piece that could be replaced, but again we had to wait for custom order pieces to be ordered. If that wasn’t enough they tended not to clean up after themselves, would not communicate with me at all so I was always in the dark as the where progress on the project stood. The only thing I can compliment them on is that they did eventually complete the project correctly.

There was a delay of a couple of weeks due to inventory not having the items I purchased. The original installer decline to install my floor and was rude about it. He stated the flooring had too much bees wax on it and it is not his job to wipe off the flooring. We had to reschedule with a different crew, and they were great! I wish these guys had came out first. Overall, it took about 6 weeks to get a floor done for a kitchen and laundry room and cost about $400 more than originally purchased because the initial flooring inspector said the floor had too many dips to use the product that we wanted. It all worked out, it just took way too long!

We used them because of their name and reputation. If something went wrong at least we had a big organization to back us up. They were very willing to fix some problems we had. The installation went well until the plumber came and done his job incorrectly, but he was contracted out through Home Depot.

We visited Home Depot thinking we should need new kitchen cabinets and a countertop. Nancy helped us and was helpful in that she asked if we really needed new cabinets. Upon looking at my pictures in my digital camera she thought they just needed a touchup with a pen sold in the paint department. Cheap fix! She then told us what we really needed was a nice granite countertop. She showed us Amazon Uba Tuba (Black) and priced it for us. We went home and used the pen and came right back and bought the granite. It was installed within 2 weeks and is beautiful. The sub they used did a great job and the guy who did the template measuring was Thomas and he was fantastic and the two installers were great too. Over all a pleasant experience. I had agreed to take out the old countertop myself to save money and paid extra for the disconnect and reconnect if the plumbing. In order to take the top off I had to disconnect the plumbing and take out the sink. This was a $138 charge. When the project was finished I called Home Depot and told them that I shouldn't have to pay the $138 and they promptly issued a credit to my credit card.

I have an older house; I had done a little work on it. I probably didn't do everything exactly the way these people wanted. My biggest complaint with them was concerning a joint. They were out here about four times trying to fix that problem. They never did fix it; everything kept getting worse. I have found nails through the roof. They cut through shingles and tried covering it up. I called them about all of that. One of the men called me a liar.

Horrible. I took a day off work and bought a new water heater at 9:00 in the morning and was specifically promised same-day service. They never showed up! I called the store 3 times that day, and was assured they would be there. The installation contractor finally called after 4:30 pm and told me they had just gotten the order and would be out first thing in the morning. THE ACTUAL CONTRACTOR WAS TERRIFIC-IT WAS HOME DEPOT THAT WAS A PAIN. After everything was done I called the store and asked to talk to the manager. She "managed" to dodge my calls for 3 days before I insisted that whoever answered the phone go and physically find her. After I explained why I was unhappy she said, "That should NEVER happen. I am going to walk up to the front and find out exactly what went wrong and call you right back." That was 6 months ago and I guess she got lost. I have learned my lesson-convenience wasn't worth the aggravation-it ended up costing me time and money.

THE KITCHEN SPECIALISTS WERE VERY EASY TO WORK WITH. WE HAD ALREADY CHOSEN OUR COLOR SO WE ONLY NEEDED HELP WITH EDGES. THE PROCESS WAS FAIRLY EASY BUT SCHEDULING IS NOT FLEXIBLE AND BOOKED UP WELL IN ADVANCE. THE PRICE WAS GOOD.

GOOD EXPERIENCE. SOMETIMES HARD TO GET THEIR ATTENTION. THE SAME KITCHEN CABINET DESIGN WAS MORE THAN $4000 CHEAPER AT ARMSTRONG CABINETS AND ARMSTRONG'S CABINETS WERE A BETTER QUALITY (ESPECIALLY WITH THE DRAWERS).
