The sales representative came to give me a quote. I explained to him that I wanted to eliminate the water issues because I wanted to refinish my basement. There were a few things that the sales rep said could be done without an extra cost that posed a bit of an issue when the crew came but then project manager okayed them. I felt the price was high at the beginning but it is competitive for the job being done...I just had not done enough research prior. One suggestion would be for the sale rep to carry samples of the vapor shield wall material (Brightwall, etc) so that I could see the differences because I was under the assumption that it replicates the appearance of drywall, which it does not because it's going to be wavy as it follows the curves of the uneven walls and it is a very thin plastic material. I also wish sales rep would have quoted me in detail everything I wanted done because now the company is working on another quote to do more work that I told the rep I wanted done in the first place, like basement flooring. I felt a little ripped off at first because I thought my basement walls would have a more "finished" look from the initial quote but then again, I did not know what the material looked like in person...but they agreed to do many extras like removing a wall, adding a wall to hide the boiler and sump pump, adding trim to windows, fixing my basement stairs, fixing a leaky sewage pipe (yuck!) and evening out the floors so I did feel like I got a good deal in the end. Basement systems did a great job. I just think a bit more education to the customer and writing down all the details in the contract would have cleared up a lot of the miscommunication. Other than that the crew was great, went above and beyond with the extras and my basement is now dry and no longer stinky.

very good!! was pleased with them in general, just a few little things disappointed me. I feel that for the amount of money spent, they should have to put everything back together when they are finished. they took off the closet doors, baseboards and did not re-connect my air conditioner unit when done with the foundation therefore, i am going to have to spend more money to get a repairman out to reconnect it. disappointed in that. also I was told they would be back in the spring to repair the yard, this is only March so we will see if they honor this or not.. Overall I was pleased with the work they did.
Description of Work: They repaired one of my foundation walls, and inside the house my floors were falling so they tore up the existing floor and replaced the smart jacks and rebuilt the floor.

Response from Ohio Basement Authority
We are pleased to see that the member was happy with the work that we did on her home. She states that her A/C unit was left unconnected. That is not true. It was moved aside. We will be calling her to let her know this. As for the the doors not being rehung, the crew did not do that because there needs to be flooring put down to finish it. It is just sub flooring. The doors would have to come back down when that flooring went in. They thought they were making it easier for her to finish the project. We would be happy to come out and rehang the doors and we will be back in the spring. We have been in business for over 18 years and would not have the great reputation and numerous awards if we did that to our customers, by not coming back in the spring to complete the job. She does not have to worry about that! We will be contacting her to make sure is 100% happy.

He went through everything, but I thought the information the other company gave me was more thorough. He was nice, asked me if I had any questions, and responded to them. I had already done a lot of my own research years ago before I called anyone, so I kind of knew what to expect. I probably would get another quote from them in the future because you never know when they might come down in their price.

Estimate was given in September and work scheduled for November, but at the planned date it was discovered that problem had been mis-diagnosed, so work had to be deferred until January. Actual project went well, each days tasks and progress explained. Due to cold weather, some final steps delayed until March or April.

The service was pretty good. I wanted some extra work on my gutters and they told me to go with a different company for that as they do not do that type of work. They will come out if I call them for extra work at no charge if it has to do with the work that they have already provided. They are good with follow up work.

They gave explanation of the work that would be done. They showed me what they need to do. They gave me a lot of information and that's what I like about it. There's a little bit of struggle in the way they handle their appointments and calls. I've got a multiple of calls on one issue and got no response from them. But it's not a big deal, if I were pursuing things more I'm sure I'll get a response from them.

In response to Member regarding the "struggle" regarding the handling of their appointment: 1) They called us for an appointment in May of 2012 and they cancelled the apt. 2) We went out in May and answered their questions, no inspection. They jreust moved in and wanted to get a feel for there new home. They told us to call them back next year. 3) In January of 2013, our inspector went to the home and did the energy inspection and gave them a quote. He tried to follow up with this customer and they nave NOT returned our calls? 4) We are pleased that they liked all of the free information they got from the inspection/audit and would like the chance to follow up with them. But they are not returning our calls at this time.

The person came to the house. However, the estimate was a written estimate. It mas mostly related to selling me the product. I never received the computer generated report. Its ok for an estimate. However, the price for an estimate is bad since other companies provide free estimates.

Member, Please re-read your coupon. You paid $49 for a substantial discount off the work quoted. All of our estimates are FREE! This coupon was put into place along with help from Angie's List staff. Of course the quote would be generated for the products intended to be sold. AGAIN THERE WAS NO FEE FOR THE ESTIMATE. THE COUPON WAS FOR DISCOUNTS! If you had contacted us prior to listing this review, we would have explained that and would have gladly refunded your coupon price if you were confused. That offer still stands even though we just found out about this 5 months after our visit with you.

The company representative was quite pleasant, punctual, and listened well. We have just one wall that lets water seep in, and he told us the job was too small for his company to handle. I asked him to give us a quote anyhow - just so we'd have some idea of the costs we might be up against. He did email me a quote in a timely manner, but for an entire half of our basement, not just the one wall. The quote was very high: over $6814 for 2 walls.
Description of Work: We had a walk-through discussion and assessment with a company representative to determine the water seepage problem in our basement.

First we are always pleased to hear that our inspector was timely, professional and listened to the customer. We quoted member back in October, and why she felt compelled to grade us a "C" three months later is rather interesting? First off her husband was not there at the time of the inspection. It seems that member feels that she got a high quote and that she should not have been quoted on two walls. Greg never said that the "job was too small for our company"! Many customers only want to do one wall to save money.Perhaps member misunderstood what Greg was trying to tell her about only doing the one wall? We always explain to the customer the problems that can occur if you only do one wall. Greg gave her a quote on two walls because he felt that was right thing to do. There were other products that were quoted in the estimate other then just waterproofing. It included our bright wall system, ultra sump and a battery back up. The job that was quoted was a fair price. We would like Kate to call our company back to discuss other options to work with her and her budget. Some things MUST be done to unsure it is done properly.

I bought a deal on Angies List to repair a water leak in my basement. The individual assessed the leak and said that it was coming from higher up than the foundation. He recommended that I start with a roofing company and then work my way down until the leak was found. He also was interested in waterproofing the foundation as well as air purification of the house. He satisfactorily answered all my questions.

When I first noticed the problem, I joined Angie's List to help me find reputable contractors who had experience dealing with my problem. I had 9 estimates in all over a 3 week period. Most of the contractors suggested tearing off the deck on the back of the house, digging a trench at the side of the house and pushing mud underneath it. They said they could not guarantee the house would not continue to settle, but they would hope that this method would stabilize it. They then suggested that they would fix the cosmetic issues inside, and the cracked brickwork outside. The estimates ranged from $15,000 to $18,000, not counting the rebuilding of the deck. When Alan from Tomorrow's Home Solutions came over to look at the problem, the evaluation felt completely different. This company set itself apart immediately, since Alan is a structural engineer. He looked at it and knew immediately how to solve the problem. Not only would the slab pier system lift the house back up, the deck would not have to be touched and there was a 25 year guarantee on the work that would transfer to a new owner should I sell the house. On top of that, the estimate was around $5900. What an amazing difference from all the rest. Definitely an easy decision to make. Alan came back, plotted out the plan on graph paper, and showed a video on how the process works. The crew that came to do the work, led by Rick, was ultimately punctual, courteous and trustworthy (I let them in and went to work). They completed the entire job in one and a half work days, and cleaned up after themselves. They called to tell me there was some ceiling damage as a result of the floor being lifted, but they repaired it at no extra charge to me. Rick said he "happened to have some extra mortar" in his car, so he patched the outside brickwork, also at no extra charge. The actual charge was exactly the estimate. No hidden fees or extra charges. As stressful as foundation problems can be to a homeowner, the process was made relatively simple, and I felt confident that they would solve the issue. I could not have been happier with the service I received. I would recommend this company wholeheartedly to anyone who has similar problems. Thank you Tomorrow's Home Solutions!
Description of Work: My house is built on a slab. Over the summer I noticed that the floor in the kitchen was separating from the baseboard. It appeared that the floor was sinking on one side. The service that they performed is called "Foundation Supportworks Slab Pier System". They drilled 6 holes directly into the kitchen floor with steel piers that went down 40-50 feet to bedrock, lifting the house back up and then supporting the house, making the failed footer obsolete.

A team of three men worked on our job. Upon arrival one team member reviewed the work they would complete. They covered our personal items with plastic sheeting and put runners on the areas they would us to move the concrete out and into our home. They removed a portion of the floor around the inside perimeter of the basement and installed the drainage system and sump crocks. The team was extremely courteous and professional.
